Tattooed On Their Hearts by Lavender Nicole. All I can say is wow, Lavender took my breath away in her debut book. This book his so different from most books when you read it. I got stuck in the stories and the backstories of all the characters and I just felt for each one of them. Lavender has managed to enthrall her readers and hold each one of us captive from word one until the very last word. And yes, at moments, I was so mad during parts of this book but at other parts of this book, I was just so sad for some of the other characters.
River is one of the one character that I could relate to as like River I am also plus-sized. She reminded me that even as a plus-sized woman I can still be strong. River is just so much more than a plus-sized character and she has to face so many things. First, her husband unalives himself, and she has to face the trauma from not only that but also from the way that he treated her. All she wanted was to be loved, she just wanted to find her real person or persons. And having come from an abusive relationship, I understand some of the trauma that River has gone through.
Zane, is this tattooed gorgeous guy who as soon as he sees River, who comes into his tattoo shop to get a tattoo, can feel the attraction and pull to her and he knows that he just has to have her. First, though, he has to tell his partner in life and in business what he wants to happen. They've been together for so many years and they've never lived the traditional life or had the traditional relationship and he knows that she's not going to say no.
Raven, Zane's wife and business partner, is his life, his everything. She's this kick ass tattoo artist, and she's just as stunning as her partner Zane. Raven has all these amazing qualities like Zane and the qualities that these two have help to make Rive feel completely at ease with finding her own way of doing things and entering into their relationship in her own way in her way so she's comfortable.
I love reading books where the FMC is a plus-sized character. It helps to give us a voice and spreads an awareness out in the world telling the entire world that it doesn't matter what the size of a person is, every person deserves to be respected and loved and with every book I read with plus-sized FMC characters, I smile.
I also love reading books with an LGBTQI+ representation (I'm Bi) because especially in these times I love that through books we can remind the world that it shouldn't matter who you love or how many you love. There is no reason for anyone to judge other people for who or how they love.
If you are anything like me and love romance books, with lots of great spice, think Love is Love, and don't mind an LGBTQIA+ friendly then you need to run and grab up this book, it's an amazing read and I can promise you that you're not going to be disappointed.
Lavender Nicole is a new author who has caught my attention and I look forward to reading whatever she writes next.
Wow, just wow! I have to say Lavender Nicole blew my mind and heart with her debut book Tattooed On Their Hearts! This book just hits differently when you read it, I totally felt for all the characters and got sucked into their stories and back stories. Lavender can really hold a reader captive until the last page, I have to say there were parts of this book that had me so mad at certain characters and then so sad for other characters.
I can definitely relate to River and being plus size, I think River is definitely a strong female plus size character. River has so many things to face after her husband un-al1ves himself. She faces so much trauma from that and the way he treated her. She just wanted to be loved and find her person(s).
Then you have Zane the tattooed hunk and tattooed artist who feels drawn to River when she comes for a tattoo, and he has to have her. He does tell his partner and business partner what is about to happen. They have been together for years and don’t have the traditional relationship.
Finally you have Raven, Zanes business partner and his everything. Shes a tattoo piercer, she is just has cool as her partner Zane. She has a lot of wonderful qualities like the others and tries to make River feel at ease with finding their own way of doing things and becoming a couple with her too.
If you’re a romance junk1e who loves spicy reads with an intro to LOVE is LOVE, then this book is definitely for you and it is LGBTQIA+ friendly too.
I can honestly say I love reads that have plus size characters and spread awareness that the size of a person doesn’t matter, that all people deserve love makes me smile. I also firmly believe in someone shouldn’t get judged on whom they choose to love, and they should be allowed to live who they love. So this book really became another favorite of mine!
So run and check out this amazing read, you truly won’t be disappointed.
Warning check your triggers: This book is real and talks about real situations that may be hard to real like s3lf-harm, abus3.
DNF at 15%. I might try to come back to it at some point. I've had a few issues so far. I loved the idea and thought it had great potential but the execution this far is lacking. It's my understanding that this book is a debut so I hope this feedback helps. Semi Spoiler Alert 🚨 . . . . . . . -The writing style itself at times sounded juvenile almost to a point where it gave me the ick. - Her husband is portrayed as having been abusive during their marriage and it seems like there would be a lot of background to dive into to help better understand the foundation of River, the FMC, but there was almost nothing other than a few paragraphs that briefly--and I mean very briefly--depict the event in question. Everything else regarding the event or her husband is just mentioned fleetingly. - The story seems very insta love but FMC had only talked to the MMC once during a tattoo consult and all of a sudden they're getting it on during her tattoo appointment days later. Another thing that erked me was that she was so quick to get to the 🌶️ after Zane confirmed that he and Raven were poly but this scene gave more open relationship vibes at first since she had barely any interaction with Raven. - The TW mentions a lot about suicide and the importance of mental health but there was a point where she's just trash talking her dead husband in her head which threw me off and not in a good way. Again, we need more background so we can really feel and understand the FMC and why she is the way she is. Don't just tell us, show us. If you're going to write about heavy topics then there needs to be more emotional depth.
Tattooed on Their Hearts is such a beautiful, healing, quietly powerful poly romance. River’s journey hooked me immediately. After years in a draining, one-sided relationship, she’s suddenly left alone with nothing but trauma, guilt, and a lifetime of dreams she never got to chase. Watching her finally breathe, finally choose herself, and finally step into a life that’s hers is absolutely rewarding. Raven and Zane are tattoo artists, step-siblings, lifelong partners, and a solid, loving couple who are already each other’s home. They have a relationship that is rooted, stable, and full of love. In walks River and something shifts and I was all here for it. River’s vulnerability paired with their steady, grounding presence made the story feel intimate in all the best ways. Lavender Nicole blends healing, sensuality, and found family so effortlessly. This book is for anyone who loves a plus-size heroine reclaiming her life, characters with real emotional depth, and a triad that feels both warm and transformative. As always, please be mindful of trigger warnings, what I enjoy might not work for everyone.
This book goes FAST! The characters are extremely likable (my fav is Dakota - they’re the most chill human being in history) and their alternating POVs help push the story along without it feeling rushed. It’s definitely important to read the content warnings, but all sensitive subjects are handled with care - the pain is honest, but so is the joy! Overall a fun and engaging read and a very impressive debut novel from Lavender Nicole.
I couldn't relate to this character more. As a plus size bi poly woman that is constantly ovwrthinking, River is my girl. The spicy scenes are on point and the story from THREEEEE POVs had me turning each page as fast as I could. It read fast and smooth and was not rushed. A spicy book with a plot?! YES PLEASE. The characters are all very relatable to different groups. Consent is discussed HEAVILY.
This book is perfect if you want a quick, spicy, LGBTQ+, romance read with a FFM relationship with a sprinkle of healing after trauma and positive plus size representation. That being said, this book wasn’t entirely for me because of the heavy focus on the accidental pregnancy. I also didn’t really feel the romantic relationship between any of the MC’s. But it was still a quick read with some good spice.
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I'm blown away, what an incredible read. You instantly take to the characters and their journey. It's action packed and spicy. I can't wait to read more from her. Highly recommend.
Short and sweet, but I loved the characters and the sensitive topic matters were dealt with respectfully. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more from this author in the future!
A great book about growth and learning more about yourself. I loved the spice and the relationship they learn to have. The FMC becomes stronger and stronger as things happen.
