USA Today bestselling author, Suzanne Ferrell discovered romance novels in her aunt’s hidden stash one summer as a teenager. From that moment on she knew two things: she loved romance stories and someday she'd be writing her own. Her love for romances has only grown over the years. It took her a number of years and a secondary career as a nurse to finally start writing her own stories.
The author of 20 novels and an Amazon best-seller for both her series, the Edgars Family Novels and the Westen series, Suzanne's books have been finalists in the National Reader's Choice Awards--SEIZED (2013) and VANISHED (2014). Suzanne was also a double finalist in the Romance Writers of America's 2006 Golden Heart with her manuscripts, KIDNAPPED (Long Contemporary Category) and HUNTED (Romantic Suspense).
Currently working on more books for her Edgars Family series (KIDNAPPED, HUNTED, SEIZED, VANISHED, EXPOSED, UNMASKED and SHANGHAIED, part of a pre-WWII spy-chaser spin-off series) and the Westen Series (Close To Home, Close To The Edge, Close To The Fire, Close To Christmas, Close To The Mistletoe, Close To Santa’s Heart and Close To Danger), Suzanne hopes to bring readers more passionate and suspenseful books to fill your reading moments. Suzanne's sexy stories, whether they are her on the edge of your seat romantic suspense or the heartwarming small town stories or historical suspense novels, will keep you thinking about her characters long after their Happy Ever After is achieved.
What an incredible romantic suspense novel by Suzanne Ferrell! This book hooks you from the very first page and keeps you flipping those pages as quickly as possible. There’s action, suspense, romance, and much more to hold your interest…the storyline is crazy good; the characters are so well developed—even the ones you love to hate; the plot twists and turns are just simply amazing; and the HEA is truly something special amidst all the chaos. This book is definitely one to read! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!) ❤️❤️
This book grabbed me on page 1. It is full of danger, suspense, love, infatuation and definitely betrayal at it's deepest!! I can't even imagine what Zoe must go thru knowing someone tried to kill her, yet not having any memory of who. Connor is amazing!! He recuses Zoe the nurses her back to health while promising to keep her safe. The world truly needs more men just like him. I highly recommend this book. I will definitely be reading the entire series! Excellent job Suzanne!! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Very happy to see the Edgars saga continue. I love these characters! The plots are full of twists and turns. I sincerely hope this series goes on! Thank you!
The Edgars family books never disappoint! Zoe, their cousin, calls for help and then goes missing.
Under less than ideal weather conditions makes tracking Zoe difficult. This search is extremely hazardous. Each member of the family utilizes their unique talent as they search for their cousin.
Once again the Edgars’ family is thrown into a fast paced, high risk and dangerous mission. Whatever Zoe knows, marks everyone involved in her search a loose end that needs to be eliminated.
Suzanne Ferrell weaves a mesmerizing, intense, and unpredictable story that is difficult to put down. Betrayed, the 7th Edgar’s Family book is a powerful read.
I know that from the 1st moment I met Zoe Edgar's That I wanted her full story, Not just a novella. The wait was well worth it.Once you open this book or open E- reader, you need to just realize you aren't putting this book done until you've read the last page!! Out of all 7 books In this series I have to say Connor Is my Absolutely absolutely Favorite character of all!
Zoe Edgars is one tough woman who always looks out for herself and is reputed to be a secret agent. Conner Davis is a convicted felon who served his ten years for supposedly dealing drugs while in the US army in Afghanistan. He has retired to the mountains of Virginia to train rescue dogs at his grandfather’s old cabin on a large tract of land.
This sets the scene for Zoe to be shot and fall over a cliff and get found by Duke his latest trained dog.
The next phase pits the entire Edgar’s family against the bad guy who shot her and left her for dead. This guy is an old mentor of Zoe’s from CIA days. This tale is an excellent adventure and eventual romantic story and will please all readers.
I can’t wait for the next Suzanne Ferrell romantic adventure novel.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Connor and Zoe. The author does a great job pulling you in and paints her scenes perfectly. She takes you into their lives with attraction, chemistry and romance and kept me turning the pages with action, drama, intrigue and surprise. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
Enjoyed the book. It was well written and a great plot. Only thing I didn't like was some use of southern sayings that were not used correctly. Overall I really enjoyed the book and will continue to read the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A great read. A good plot that makes it hard to put down. Mystery, danger, and a little romance. A dog being trained for search and rescue is always welcome in any books I read. I would recommend it to everyone, but if you haven't read any of her books before you may want to read all of them after this one.
Loved this book! Zoe is attacked and left for dead. She is found by Connor and his dog Duke while they are on a training exercise. When Zoe recovers consciousness she doesn’t remember what happened or who she is. As she struggles to remember trouble comes roaring in. Lots of twists and turns in this action packed tale of good triumphing over evil along with just enough romance to make it swoony! Definitely want to read more books by this author!
All the Suzanne Ferrell novels are great and Betrayed is no exception! Well, maybe it is. I wish I could give it more stars. Just loved, the hero, Connor. A big, big honorable man! Thrilling plot, intense action and romance! An exceptional read!
Good book, but many words misused. Used homonyms such as “flair” for “flair” and ice sickles for icicles, site for sight, phase for faze, so often it broke the pace of reading. Suz needs a better editor!
This book started off running, and I was hopeful that it would continue its exciting, fast pace. But while it was a decent story, it wobbled a little here and there for me. Full disclosure, it's seventh in a series but my first. It says it can be read as a standalone, and while that's more or less true, it is still a little problematic when it comes to my enjoyment of the story.
As far as I can tell, the suspense part of this story is contained entirely within the book; that is, there's no overarching storyline connecting the novels. Here, we have Zoe, cousin to the other Edgars who presumably star in earlier books. When there's a series, it can be difficult for an author to weave in enough info about those earlier couples (and their stories) to placate series readers but also enlighten those new to the series. Some authors excel at this, but others struggle, and I felt this book feel into the latter category. So. Many. Characters. Anyway, I got the impression that Zoe as a character in previous novels may not have been written in a particularly positive light. Her cousins, while they clearly love her, chalk her up as a somewhat irresponsible risk taker who thinks of herself first. It kind of annoyed me; a male character taking equal risks would be lauded as an alpha leader. Anyway, in Connor, she finds a gentle giant who takes umbrage at her cousins' dismissal of her (thank goodness I wasn't the only one). The two seem to get each other, and I really liked them together. Also, Duke the dog!
But some stuff didn't flow quite well or didn't seem well thought out. How did Connor become a SAR dog trainer? He wasn't raised with those skills, and he'd been in prison for a decade, just released two years prior. Is Duke a dog he's training for someone or is he Connor's? If the former, I need something to happen to keep him with Connor. If the latter, why do we never see Connor training other dogs?
And Zoe. She's this super competent spy, but she's caught by her nemesis because she was staking him out while wearing a bright blue jacket in shrubbery? She keeps personal photos in her house that is otherwise devoid of anything to identify her? Hmn.
Other things... why on earth would Dave leave the SUV unlocked? Yes, he's in the "boonies," but he's there to hunt down his cousin (or her body) and knows there's been foul play. Just freaking lock the door.
Anyway, there's other stuff, but I don't want to get into spoiler territory. Overall, it's a decent story. It just needs a really honest content edit (and a proofread, but I don't focus on that when I'm reading an ARC). Would I read another by this author? Probably, but with a grain of salt.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the author and BookSirens. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
(4.5) Intrigue, suspense, a stubborn opinionated undercover woman Zoe. Mountains, winter storm, Appalachia, loner Connor with his search and rescue dog, Duke. I absolutely loved this one. I was there in the mountains, I felt the chill, the frustration as family searches. It does get a little character heavy with characters from previous books, but hey, if family is in trouble, what do you do? My heart ached for Connor, what he went through and how he still is the person he is today. This was a thrill ride, one I thoroughly enjoyed, Thank you #Booksirens and #SuzanneFerrell for the opportunity to grab the book early. I freely volunteer my honest thoughts and opinions. #Betrayed #EdgarsFamily
Betrayed is the 7th book in the Edgars Family series. While the blurb states that it stands alone and both the romance between Zoe and Connor as well as the suspense plot is resolved in the book, there are a lot of characters from previous books playing important roles and I think it would be more enjoyable reading them in order. It's a clean romance with only hints at a passionate relationship and I really liked both characters. There are a few inconsistencies but the suspense plot is action-filled, fast-paced and entertaining with a HEA all around. I received an advanced copy through BookSirens and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
I almost quit reading right at the beginning because it opened with a scene from the villain’s point of view. I HATE spending time in the villain’s head and this seemed like a bad sign of things to come.
Fortunately most of the book (I skipped the other villain scenes) was a pretty good story and wrapped up the series really well. Likeable characters and a satisfying story. I especially liked the justice achieved at the very end.
ETA: I hated that her mentor had basically pimped her out to solve a case early in her career. That detail was extremely disturbing and another reason to loathe undercover stories.
This was a brilliant read and a new favourite author.
When Connor finds Zoe hurt and unconscious, he takes her back to his cabin when a snow storm comes.
So much action, drama and suspense in this book. Zoe although hurt, knows her own mind and the attraction between them both is strong. But when trouble comes, the romance takes a back seat to the action. Their chemistry certainly helped make the story great.
So well done, I am in awe of how good this book was. Already a pleasure to find a new really good author and this was a great book.
2.75 stars This book is the 7th in the series but my first. The blurb says it can be read as a standalone, but soooo many characters from previous books appear here, each with a synopsis of their earlier adventures. I don't think we needed all the backstories as it distracted from the pacing in this story. I found the story predictable, with the good guys being perfect, insta love, and repetitive writing. If the writing could be tightened up a bit, with editing errors fixed, it would read better. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a very suspenseful story that will grab your attention from the beginning. Zoe may be a long wolf in her job, but she's certainly met her match when a recluse and his dog find her injured on the side of the mountain. There is plenty of danger throughout the story as well as humor, many interesting side characters (family and adopted family), and temporary memory loss. While this was the first book I've read in this series, I felt there was enough of an introduction to the returning characters to be able to follow along in the story.
I enjoyed this book, but the experience would have been better had I read the previous books in the series. There are many references to things that would have happened in them and many peripheral characters from those stories. The characters were well developed, the family dynamic was intriguing. And the love story, beautiful.
Good story line and very interesting story. I had a hard time focusing on this one tho due to over explaining details, which isn’t always bad. Zoe’s on the path of revenge when she finds out her mentor has faked his own death and is on a mission to kill lots of people. Along the way Connor and duke stumble upon Zoe in major need of help. Will his salvation be enough to save her?
I liked Zoe and Connor but lost interest once the family saved them… I did not read the other books so it felt like too many characters at once and I got lost
Excellent story, although the declaration at the end was unimaginative. What really kept this book from being 5 stars were the numerous errors. Even a well-read beta reader should have caught most of them. Examples: "Navel Intelligence". LOL! Who knew? Also, "troller" instead of "trawler." Many others I didn't note. Seriously, get a good beta reader if not an editor to locate and correct these frequent and easily fixed errors. Your book will be much better for it.
