Book two in the Stake You series. It’s been months since Devlin O’Mara’s boyfriend killed a vampire for her, months since her family and friends covered up the incident for her. But now teenage girls are going missing and dying, and it seems as if Sully could somehow be back in town. As the kidnappings draw too close to home, Devlin sets off on a mission to find the truth. But as she soon discovers, enemies can become allies, allies could be the true source of her problems, and vengeance is one of the few emotions vampires retain. It’ll all end in blood and tears... but who will survive?
Well this was confusing as hell. Sully's maker was scared shitless of him, didn't want anything to do with him and was in hiding from him..yet she felt the need to avenge his murder? That was just plain stupid as was Devlin. While the story was just as engaging as book one, Devlin was just annoying as hell in this book. I liked her better when she was pretending to be a bitch to keep others away, than her trying to be normal...because normal Devlin is just begging to be smacked!
I gave this book a rating of 5 because I loved it even though it did have a sad ending. I loved how Devlin never gave up on the ones that she cares about, even when others are telling her to do otherwise. She fights no matter how scared she is. She is more afraid of losing the one she loves than of the vampires. I recommend this book to anyone that loves vampires.
I enjoyed reading this. The main character is cool. She fights evil vampires. The author developed a decent plot. Not so sure about the ending. Wish there was less profanity. I still want to read the next book.
Excellent!!! The drama, the sadness, the heartbreak and the new characters were gripping. I enjoyed the rollercoaster of what ifs and who. Much better than the first. A few editing mistakes but easily ignored.
This is the second novel in Farrell's Stake You series. Main character Devlin and her friends and family are just getting over everything that happened in the first book when strange things start happening again. Could there be another vampire in town? I thought this book got off to a great start. I still love the characters and feel like this is more realistic than a lot of teen vampire fiction that is around, but for me this book wasn't quite as good as the first. Without being too spoilerish there was a plot development that didn't quite feel right somehow and I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending. I will need to read the next one to find out what happens as although I had conflicting feelings about this one the very fact that I am still thinking about the story means it has definitely hooked me. Recommended for fans of urban fantasy!
It was a little bit better but I just pictured more after reading the whole Ava Delaney series. It was so good and this series just feels a bit weak. I'm disappointed.
