I loved the illustrations and the message of this book. We live in a global community sharing world resources, yet we grow up experiencing different cultures and norms. The child characters from different countries introduce bits of their native language, while working together to solve problems. First Pedro must solve the problem of running out of mozzarella cheese to make pizza, Preeti comes up with an ingenious solution. Wolfram figures out how to keep Venice from disappearing under water, and Kanako leads the way in finding a priest who has been reported missing.

Mysteries, adventure and multiculturalism combine to make a unique reading experience for elementary school readers. I think that the book will particularly appeal to six through ten year olds. Older readers might expect a more detailed story line and richer characters.

This lovely childrens book is filled with color, charm, imagination and lessons learned. It stresses creativity, wit, perserverence honesty and the importance of friendship and teamwork. Each character that sets out on this deceptively simple mission to Italy leaves an indelible mark on the reader. The tale will inspire curiosity in children - curiosity about new lands and new people.

This is the first book in what promises to be a series. And I look forward to sharing the next adventure with all the young children I know.

Help your children feel included

What an exciting series. Five children each from different countries get together to help solve problems in different areas of the world. Each area they arrive in allows a child to use their unique super power. This visit was Italy. Read this book and see how these children work together to make a difference.

I got this ooh to read to my three year old for bed time, and he actually stayed still the entire time! It was fun to read it in different accents and work on my pronunciation. He loved the story and the pictures. This is definitely a series we would love to keep up with in our family.
