Fit to Love is a heartwarming and transformative Christian novella that follows Mariah, a woman grappling with loss, grief, and self-worth. After years of feeling disconnected from herself and those around her, Mariah embarks on a journey of healing, self-discovery, and faith. Guided by supportive friends, a dedicated fitness trainer, and her deepening relationship with God, Mariah learns to rebuild her confidence, rediscover her purpose, and embrace the love she deserves.
As she faces emotional and spiritual challenges, Mariah's story reveals the power of faith, the importance of self-care, and the beauty of second chances. Fit to Love is an inspiring tale for anyone seeking hope, healing, and a closer connection to God.
I loved how this story focused on the reality of a journey . Life is a journey ,there is up and downs that we can only overcome, if we are willing to accept guidance for God . Mariah in her struggles still kept connected to God , because of this God made sure she knew he was present and preparing her for a life filled with peace only he can give and the love she always desired.
Having the trainer confess his love to her was just an added bonus . Loved this short story of healing , self discovery and faith!
“Fit to Love” follows all of the steps someone would usually encounter when healing so it’s not really groundbreaking. It’s also not a terrible read so don’t get me wrong. Also each chapter ends in prayer, which I liked.
The first few sentences of the prayer that ended the first therapy chapter really hit me. I also have mommy issues and seeing Mariah asking God the same questions I’ve thought about was a slightly overwhelming experience.
Mariah was bro👏🏾ken👏🏾 When she referred to Richard as her husband in the first chapter, my mouth dropped. I just knew he was a boyfriend because there was no way her husband was going to break up with her on her birthday and while she’s grieving.
My biggest concern was that the author would have Mariah go through these journeys and healing just to jump into a relationship with Jeremy. I was so relieved that that wasn’t what happened.
Aside from the heaviness, Mariah’s friends, Violet and Melody, had me cracking up. Liz was cool too but she was more so the voice of reason/the friend with sense lol.
The gala scene at the end felt very much like Mike and Sheila from Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? And thinking back on the book in its entirety, I can find more parallels.
Fit to Love is a short yet inspiring novella about how God can turn a bad situation into a happy ending. Brittnay Green expertly uses God, Faith, therapy, church and friendship into a fictional self help plot of sorts. Definitely read if you’re looking for a subtle push into your own greatness.
Super quick and cute read! I came across it on Kindle unlimited and read it in one sitting. I enjoyed the spiritual references and reminders of the importance of self love, and doing the work to unpack the childhood traumas we all carry. The story was somewhat predictable, but cute!
This Christian novella illustrated this story wonderfully through both technical and traditional means. I'm ecstatic to have read my first contemporary Christian novella and I look forward to reading more from this genre as well as from this author.
This book has been sitting on my kindle, yet I’m glad I opened it today (while at the gym 🤣). I love seeing the healing Mariah experienced in all areas. The only downside. I wish the book was longer.
Fit to Love by Brittany Green is a contemporary Christian novella that tells the heartfelt story of Mariah, a Black woman who begins a fitness journey to rekindle her relationship with her husband.
The novella shines in its relatable, down-to-earth writing style, with dialogue full of natural slang that brings authenticity to the characters. The faith aspect is beautifully portrayed through Mariah’s heartfelt prayers, offering a genuine look at her reliance on God. Additionally, the story’s positive portrayal of therapy is a standout element, especially given the historical stigma surrounding mental health in the African-American community. It’s a refreshing and meaningful inclusion that adds depth to Mariah’s journey.
That said, the novella would have benefitted from professional editing to address some writing issues and bring the narrative to its full potential. While the story’s heart and message are clear, refining the prose could have elevated the reading experience significantly.
Overall, Fit to Love is an inspiring and thoughtful story of faith, self-improvement, and love. It’s a quick read that addresses real-life challenges with grace, but readers may notice the room for improvement in its execution.
Upon perusing the book title, I anticipated a romantic narrative with a second chance at love. While this is partially accurate in relation to God, the Christian novellas delve into the challenges faced by women, emphasizing healing and the re-centering of God. This particular story explores healing through various avenues, including physical fitness, therapy, and cultivating a healthy prayer life.
I found a profound connection with the protagonist, empathizing with her experiences and finding her inquiries about God deeply relatable. The candid portrayal of feelings of being lost and forgotten resonated with me, transcending the boundaries of a mere feel-good story. Instead, it emerged as an inspiring narrative that effectively reintroduced the principles of healthy prayer, healing, and overall well-being, both mentally and physically. The scriptures employed in the passages were not only applicable but also relevant and relatable, enhancing the overall impact of the story.
Finally‼️Oooh, I’ve wanted to read “Fit To Love” for a while now. Cool 🤩‼️…And this novella didn’t disappoint in its objective to relate, encourage & empower a despondent Mariah to become her better self after a decade of appeasing others. Until an abrasive reality check challenged her resolve to reexamine her identity through the lense of a broken woman: mind, body, spirit & faith. Experience the phases to her journey of discovery: I’m a reflection of my Creator‼️I am who Christ says I am, not the world’s perception of acceptable‼️Relationships, social media, financial and or economical status’ factors can’t define me, contain me, humiliate me nor invalidated my purpose, appreciate my value nor obstruct the view of a sincere observer 😊‼️
This story was short and sweet but highly entertaining! Let me start off by saying that Richard made me so madddd lol. Like the audacity of this dude was ridiculous. I was so glad Mariah was able to see through his facade and seek God to find her inner peace. The banter between Mariah and her friends was hilarious, and I'm glad they were solid in her corner when it came down to Richard's schemes. Also may I add that, Jeremy the trainer....had a heart of gold towards Mariah. Not only was Jeremy building Mariah up physically, he was building her up mentally, by giving her his time and divided attention. He's such a gentleman and I loved that.
It is SUPER short, which I don’t mind, but the wording was SO BAD!!! It was like reading a story told by a middle schooler. While I loved the message it gives the presentation was lacking SEVERELY! I also can’t get past how, with it being a “Christian Romance” the story talks about the trainer hitting on a MARRIED woman (I know they were getting divorced, but she fully intended on winning him back) and when they went out as “friends” they went to a dance club, which was essentially a bar. I also did not like how the texts at the end of each chapter were so badly written with emojis🤮. Again loved the message, HATED the story!

I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for your book, which I found truly inspiring. As a woman who may have dealt with men like Richard, this book resonated with me deeply.
I especially admire the character of Jeremy. We need more gentlemen with God-fearing hearts like him in literature and life. I also loved how therapy helped Mariah open up, grow closer to God, and learn to love herself after putting God first.
My only wish is that the story was longer or that there might be a sequel. I eagerly look forward to reading more books by you in the future.
This book was amazing! I am so grateful for the opportunity to be lead by the Holy spirit to read this! I cried and I laughed! I prayed and I prayed! I loved the prayers at the end of the chapters for they guided me in my personal prayers to God and Jesus! There are not a lot of good, motivating Christian novels out there! This novel made me want to read my Bible, workout and seek first the kingdom of heaven! And I did! I started my fitness and health journey as well as drawing closer to the Lord! I pray the author makes more novels like this.
Really wished this was longer!! I loved Mariah and her friends had me cracking up the whole book. Such a great quick read and realistic when it comes to grieving & asking God why certain things happen to us. I love the turnaround for Mariah and how she realized what her focus should be by the end of the book. Sometimes we are blinded by things and need to go through tough times leaning on and trusting God to see clearly again. Well rounded read. I’ll definitely be looking into more from this author 👏🏾
This delightful book serves as an uplifting and heartwarming narrative that explores a profound journey of personal growth and self-rediscovery. The Mariah transformative experience resonates deeply, offering readers an inspiring and emotionally engaging exploration of finding oneself and reclaiming personal identity. The story provides a refreshing and optimistic perspective on personal development, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a mood-boosting and introspective reading experience.
Boy this was good little book! Very short-but very good! Mariah is going thru a personal crisis and her husband has decided to end their relationship. Such news is crushing to Mariah’s mental well-being. But she is at rock-bottom, so she can only go up from here. And up she goes. She has accepted a lot of stuff in her life, and now it’s time for her to get a life, and get out of the toxicity.
This book was everything! It takes you on a journey of a woman from broken to the springs of healing and freedom. A quick read that many women can relate to. Not really a happily ever after but defintely a step in the right direction.
Her girl squad is one that we all need. I loved her private prayers and her candid conversations with God. You could tell she had relationship based on her conversations with God via prayer. Loved, loved, loved it ❤
Fit to Love is an inspiring work of fiction that shows how God’s love restores and heals the brokenhearted. This novella begins with Mariah experiencing a devastating loss that leaves her emotionally and spiritually broken. Mariah’s journey to healing and her beautiful transformation will encourage, uplift and strengthen one’s faith in God. This heartwarming story was genuine, relatable and full of powerful life lessons!
Mariah looked to others for her value. Her husband, Richard, was happy she relied on him but things changed when she experienced a loss. That loss also put Richard on a different path toward Mariah. Rip hard called himself demeaning Mariah. Paraphrasing a saying, “ What you meant for bad, God used for good”. God turned it from a negative to a positive. The story of God doing it was uplifting.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As an individual currently embarking on a journey of self-love and self-discovery, I found the content highly relatable. I gained valuable insights from the book and will gladly share this book with my friends. 10 out of 10, would recommend.
This was a good little short story focused on healing and faith. I'm glad to see the MFC heal both physically and emotionally, by putting in the work for both. When a new opportunity for love came, Mariah recognized that she wasn't ready & still had work to do. I'm glad she's going for her HEA on her terms!
I love that this author incorporated God and his word in this Book the journey of Revelation Growth learning and Giving yourself back to the original creator Learning what to keep and what to let go of would love to see a part 2
I loved how Mariah had a group of girlfriends who were there for her every step of her healing journey. I love that she never lost her faith in God. I'm glad that she has Jeremy in her corner.
This was a really good short story and I love how Mariah decided she still needed to do more work on herself before being in a relationship, but I wouldn’t have been mad at her :).
So many lessons about life and God. This book is perfect if you're needing help with refocusing and build your faith. I would love a part 2 to see how things go for Mariah.
This was a great and healing short read. Minus very small grammatical errors, this book was very well written and straight to the point. I look forward to reading more by Brittany Green.
I truly enjoyed this quick Christian fiction read I discovered on my Kindle. Loved how the writer incorporated prayers during her life drama and actual scripture that speaks to the problems folks experience in real life. I look forward to reading more from her.
Really enjoyed this book. Situation was described realistically and the growth in the main character was beautiful to read. Very inspiring. What time is it? Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
I wanted to cry thru out this short story bc her story was so similar to my own. Her healing journey was mine. Rejection can even be used as a tool in God’s hands. This was beautifully!
