We are back for Elisse hays fourth book in the urban fantasy series ‘Something Wicked’

Once again I hope you stocked up on the coffee and have a bag of chips on hand as Rory is back.

After the events of book three I am so excited to see how this book will unfold. Elisse has a beautiful writing style and I adore her work. What a journey we have had with Rory and the crew.

This is an Urban fantasy series with realistic real life mixed in with the fantasy with everything from social workers, police, community services tax and laws + legislation!
With realistic points on trauma and grief.
Quite a different style of urban fantasy.

This book feels a bit different to the first three books but it was well needed to show more of what’s going on after the trauma and events of the first three books.

This one isn’t so action packed and focuses on life, trauma and more of everyday action. Also once again highlighting injustices and faults in systems of society. I love the way Elisse Hay can talk about these things and bring them into a fantasy world, when in fact they are very much part of our urban real life not just urban fantasy.

Also, when is Rory going to catch a break.
Also yes sugar and salt look the same!

This was a good fourth book, it was hard for me to mentally read in some parts and get into. I still enjoyed the story and my time with Rory. I am so team Rory and love following Rory and the crew through the books.

Can’t wait to see where else this goes.

I don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like Elisse Hay, she is in her own category and rocks the socks off it. With chips and coffee of course.

I’ve been waiting on this review because, TBH, I wasn’t sure how to get the words down about how I felt about this book. First of all, it is very well-written, which I knew going into it because all of the other books in the series have been, too, so I knew that wouldn’t be an issue. What I mean is that this latest installment tore my heart out of my chest and stomped all over it. Poor, poor Rory is so lost from the actions of the last book, and she’s having a hard time keeping it together. This book definitely has a different vibe from the first three books, and it was a little hard to read. However, I’m hoping that Rory has come out on the other side better than she was. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is book 4 of the Something Wicked series. Rory had a crazy ride the last book and she is still reeling from Ryan and Samhain. She’s learning to cope, and she is finally taking steps in the right direction towards healing. With Taig there to help her, along with Lilith, Aspen and Nic, she is starting to realize things could be ok.
Rory definitely takes a journey into herself in this book. As she is dealing with her trauma, she also makes some discoveries about her parentage that she wasn’t expecting at all. It fits with all the secret stuff she has been hearing about her dad, and she doesn’t know how to feel about that. She also has to struggle with Wesley and all his manipulations. He seems to be one step ahead of her and we never know which side he’s on. There are also some hints that Taig may not be as perfect as she thinks from Lillith's POV.
This book was lighter than the previous book (in my opinion) and there is less high stakes action. There are some high-energy, nail-biting moments where Rory (and sometimes team) get into some pretty dicey situations, but overall, this book deals mostly with Rory and her own personal battles. This is the beginning of her self-redemption and coming to terms with everything that has happened and understanding that healing doesn't happen overnight. I was glad that Rory is finally making some needed changes to her mindset and working on herself.
As of right now, there are no more books in this series coming, but there is enough left that there would be an opening to come back to it in the future. If there were ever any more Rory books, I would read them!

I could not put Lightning down! I read it into the wee hours of the morning – I was captivated. Elisse has a superb gift of storytelling and crafting characters who have depth. Characters you would love to have as friends. Rory’s compassion is showcased along with her courage, strength of will, determination, loyalty, and commitment to help others even in the face of risks to herself. She learns that she is not an island and has the support of her coven coworkers and Taig to keep her steady.
Lightning, thunder, rain is a perfect title for Rory’ newest book. The emotional and mental storms from Brandon’s murder and Ryan’s abuse bring lightning flashbacks, and a rain of emotions that flood her, trying to wash the ground out from under her feet. There are other hits from a longstanding mystery to be solved later, but she keeps doing what Rory does best- staying the course and kicking ass while working to keep her clients safe. There is lots of magic and action, new clients including an unstable wizard and an ursathrope, and working through the developing relationship with Taig that provides healing as well. Rory and Taig’s relationship adds some spice and healing as Rory learns more about herself.

Okay I'm gonna take a breath and try to write this review because WOW this latest one from @elisse.hay was heavy. I've read this entire series and Rory has been put through the ringer- but this one is more about Rory dealing with Rory. The way the author illustrates a realistic healing process for heavy trauma. This book was not easy to read but it was worth every moment of it to see Rory coming to the end of this more self assured and solid then she has been. I laughed at the coven antics, I cried for Rory, I cheered when they overcame, and I applauded when Rory looked beyond outward appearances and chose justice.

❤️ as always check your TWs

Book did not disappoint. Rory is still trying to work things out and getting into and out of trouble. She has finally started to settle down.

Paranormal, shape shifters, witches, wizards, spicy what more can we ask for.

This has a focus on the trauma Rory has experienced and felt like a good way to bridge it into the remainder of her journey
