What a fabulous ride
I've been a huge fan of Anton Du Beke for many years, since the start of Strictly Come Dancing. I adored his dancing, and his humor. But a writer? I really wasn't sure. But I am now! This is the first of Anton's books I have read, and I loved it. Believable characters, a fabulous setting (Monaco on Grand Prix weekend - what's not to love?). And a plot with more twists and turns and excitement than the Grand Prix circuit. I will definitely be reading more. Recommended reading.

Gutted I didn’t enjoy this book as I had such high hopes plus I love Anton De Buke! Just found the chapters too bitty and there’s too many characters woth a storyline it gets confusing.

A Mystery With Many Players
This is like a film, set in Monaco with The Grand Prix, a charity variety show and a film set.
An homage to his mentor, Anton’s lead character is Ed Forsyth, the leader of a family travelling variety show. In Monaco at Princess Grace’s request - a series of events unfold and all is not well.
A bit formulaic, the story unfolds slowly but had just enough interest to keep me reading.
Good, imaginable characters but maybe too much padding which is why in a film it would flow faster.
Enjoyable but not remarkable.

March 28, 2026Lovely to be back with Cal and Evie and the Forsythe troop. This time ( surprise, surprise ) in Monte Carlo. Giving a charity concert for HRH Princes Grace. Cal is working on a film set nearby. Lots of shenanigans, naturally. But I enjoyed it.

Prefer The Buckingham books but a pleasant enough story. Reminded me of my visit to Monte Carlo last year.

Not as good as the Buckingham Hotel series. Too much motor racing for me!

Terrible terrible book. Too many characters. The chapters are far too long, it felt never ending. Waiting for the plot and it only started getting fairly interesting chapter 17, only to disappoint.

I think this was better than the first of the series. It made me feel that I wanted to go and see Monte Carlo despite the cost
