It’s tough being a cat in a dog eat dog world. Something that Katrina Walker learned the hard way being a were-cat raised by a pack of werewolves. And after her taboo love affair with the future Alpha is discovered, Kat has no choice but to leave the only home and man she’s ever loved behind for good. Or so she thought…
Seven years later Kat is forced to return to pack lands and the man she left behind. But Jason Benson has changed, and so has she. Will she find her way back into the arms of her first love, or will James, the mysterious were-cat wriggle his way into her heart?
Okay, so, the first time I read Part one of this series back in August 2013 I was not overly fond of these characters. Dare I say I was annoyed with them. I must have been in a bad mood because I re-read the entire trilogy this month and WOAH BABY I loved it. I usually wont even re-read a book but I can't believe how much I loved this one the second time around. Don't get me wrong, I gave it 4 stars last time but this was 5 billion stars. I also need to stop comparing the authors books. That's almost like setting myself up for failure. It's like comparing your favorite shirt to another shirt you own that looks almost as awesome but not quite. I'm getting off topic here but you get the point. I missed my two Alpha's! Part two was also a re-read and still as sexy as the first time. Maybe even more so. Part 3..... I have been waiting since August for this! I feel like book two in one of the author's series is always the one that leaves you hanging on for dear life...like if I don't get this book right now I might choke a mutha fucka. I shall call her the queen of cliffy's. And I don't care if that's not a word, you get what I'm saying so deal with it. Dara is also the queen of hussies....all of her female protagonists can't keep their snatches in their knickers.... I love it! But they're always conflicted about it. I guess that separates them from being a full fledged hussy :). I very much enjoyed their journey and I'm looking forward to what's next from my favorite author.
The three novellas Kat Scratch Fever, Kat-napped, and Kat-astrophe were combined and edited to be one stand alone novel, Kat Scratched. Oh, and yep... I give it 5 STARS! :)
This is an EROTIC PNR so expect a lot of sex/sexual related scenes. I liked that she didn't just stick with one shifter in this book but instead we get werewolves and werecats.
Kat is a were-jaguar who was raised by werewolves when her family was killed in an accident. None of the wolves know anything about jaguars, so everything that she knows about being a shifter, she's learned from the wolves. Which you can imagine is like having a father trying to raise his little girl on his own. He doesn't really understand what really happens to women during that time of the month, he doesn't fully understand our mood swings or what makes us tick. That is the case with Kat. They've treated her like a wolf but she's no clue about anything of her own kind.
Since she grew up with wolves, it is no surprise that she falls in love with a wolf. He's not just any wolf though, he's the next in line to be Alpha of the pack. So their affair is secret until the day comes that he must choose, become alpha and choose a rightful mate (one being of the same species) or run away with Kat and turn his back on his pack. Kat decides that instead of making his choose, she'll leave and make the choice easier on him.
Which is where the story really starts... 5 years later with her living with a human. She's having all these crazy hormone issues. She's hot and bothered and so she decides to go out to get some food, which is where she runs into 3 males who turn out to be jaguars just like her. That's when the story really takes off running... literally.
I must be honest that when I read the synopsis I was both excited and really nervous. Excited because I'm a huge fan of D.T's. I fell in love with her dragon trilogy and I've been reading everything of her's since. But I was nervous because my initial thought was, Mercy Thompson (the coyote who was raised by wolves who then fell in love with the alpha)... but this is nothing like that. There's hierarchy, lots of sex, lots of drama and two "Adams". Two's always better than one. Especially when it comes to man candy.
However, Kat has a lot of learning and growing to do throughout the story. She starts out extremely naive and is really impulsive. She's no idea how things are run in the jaguar world but as the book progresses she starts to really grow up. D.T. definitely thought outside the box when it came to a couple of topics that came up in the story and I felt that she executed them really well. She could have gone the easy route and taken a left turn but instead that chick decided to pull a U-ie and go off roading with the story.
All in all I am really excited over this one. Anyone who likes some good smut with some paranormal running through it, needs to read this. The author definitely knows how to pull the readers in and makes them root for all the characters. I found myself really invested in the story and even found myself on the edge of my seat at times. I really liked how she gave us an epilogue at the end of the story. It really helped to tie everything together and give the reader closure.

I kind of worry that people are going to start looking at these reviews and assume that I’m only giving them 5 stars because they are written by DT Dyllin, but seriously there isnt anything this woman has written that I have read and haven’t loved, if you haven’t read any of her work yet you should totally give it a go. You wont be disappointed.
The only thing I knew about the books before I picked them up was that she had written them. Once I realised Kat was a were-leopard I was rather excited, I haven’t read about were-cats before and while I can’t compare them to other were-cat stories I can say I am loving Dyllin’s take on them.
As is usual with Dyllin’s work, the story is written in a way that just draws the reader in right from the very first page. I don’t even know how to describe her writing style, but it feels like coming home, like a conversation with an old friend. even in a brand new series with new characters. I fell into the story with ease and before I knew it I was half way through the book. If it wasn’t for the fact that I do actually need sleep I would have happily sat up through the night to finish it.
Kat is equally as strong and confident in her capabilities and power as a were-leopard as she is insecure about her looks (which probably comes from being raised in a pack of Werewolves) and it gives us a very likeable character who reminds me a lot of myself (and a lot of other women I know). I can’t say I’m a fan of all the choices that Kat makes, but you can tell she’s doing what she thinks/feels is right. Her taste in men seems to be impeccable. Jason is every bit the Alpha male, but he has a vulnerable edge to him which comes as a result of Kat leaving him all those years ago. And while in other characters I might think his insecurities and jealousy would be a turn off for this man it has the opposite effect. It most definitely makes him more appealing. And while James may not be Alpha he certainly has his own attractive qualities.. who can resist a man who swears he will be there for you, making sure you are safe always. Especially one who is also physically appealing. I was almost begging Kat to forget about Jason.
There are a few twists and turns along the way. Moments when I thought I knew for sure what was going to happen only to be proven wrong. Dyllin is not predictable in her work. Even as the book draws to a close we are still leaning about our main characters and being knocked sideways by revelations we just did not see coming.
The first time I read the two books in this trilogy I ended up feeling angry with Kat and James. Lucky me, when I got this copy, I decided to start over. This is one intense, dramatic and hot ride. If you are planning to read this book get ready to get your emotions shaken up and down.
Kat Scratched is not your classic paranormal romance with sweet and innocent shifters. It has characters that will annoy you, make you scream, cry and laugh. In a world where there is a new surprise in every page, Kat tries to save those she loves and stay true to herself.
This time D.T. Dyllin creates a character with some serious issues. Kat has to face a world she knew nothing about, three hot guys fighting for her love and some people wanting her dead. Nothing easy when you have to deal with being in heat for the first time, coming back with your family after seven years and a mysterious women appearing only in front of you.
The action is at its peak all the time. When a situation get solved another complication takes place. Some turns are breathtaking and just amazing!
As usual the writing is really good. The words just transport you into the world the author creates and the scenarios are well described. As you can read from the blurb, this book has a relevant sexual component and it's fantastic. Some scenes are quite strong but the story requires the level of sexuality it has.
The only thing I didn't enjoy as much as the rest was the end. But only because there were a few things I found predictable, maybe is just that I know where Dara is going when she writes.
Overall, this book is amazing. If you like the author you MUST read it and if you like paranormal romance too.
