The first time I see Edison Keane and Rhodes McCreary I’m eighteen and battling leukemia in the hospital. They’d oozed danger and seemed to live a life so different from the anesthetic prison where I lived my life.
No one expected me to survive my sickness, but four years later I’m alive and about to be married off to a pack of alphas that I want nothing to do with and the memory of the two alphas is still fresh in my mind.
Then they burst into the church, guns drawn. It turns out my betrothed pack owes them a debt and they are here to collect me.
Never would I have thought that being kidnapped could be so freeing. The more time I spend with these men, the more I want to live in the gilded bird cage they’ve created for me. Unfortunately, my old life isn’t quite ready to let go of me yet and it threatens to ruin everything.
People often say I’m made of glass, but if it's Edison and Rhodes? Then maybe I don’t mind being broken.
Glass Omega is a MMF age gap omegaverse featuring a 22-year-old sheltered omega. Please check all content warnings.** EXPECTED SOMETIME IN 2024 **
I didn’t know I needed this, but apparently I did. It’s a delightfully messy omegaverse fever dream in the best way-the kind of book that grabs you by the face and whispers ‘just go with it.’ And I did. Happily
Mixed feelings on this book. For starters as a dark romance I really didn’t see anything dark at all not really much death or gore or angst at all. So if you’re going into this book expecting dark you’re going to be very disappointed.
We didn’t have a lot of scenes with the secondary alpha Rhodes and Perrie as an actual couple despite being around each other every day for school and training their relationship was off page and then we got the bullet points. Edison was the primary alpha and I felt like we had a lot of back and fourth with very surface level mafia drama the entire book, I found it hard to tell the difference between the families. Overall I didn’t feel any chemistry with any of the characters. When we finally do have the entire pack come together we don’t see anything about the soldiers and how they feel despite emphasis on how big of a deal it will be to the soldiers and the elders that they’re together.
The author mentions how important gold eyes are for the family but we don’t learn if it has special key benefits other than just looking cool. We don’t see perrie interact with her parents after the wedding day. Her brother in the beginning of the book is a sheltered helpless boy she helped raise and doesn’t know any of this mob life then 10 chapters later that’s not the case he’s not really so helpless and frankly I felt he was a terrible character that acted as a temporary bad guy whenever the author felt the need to add last minute drama.
Long story short. The book wasn’t very cohesive, the romance wasn’t built up so we had no exciting wow moment at the wedding. (They mention a heat was coming soon and that’s why she needed to be married asap- then has her heat 6ish months later)
I didn’t enjoy how the author would explain an omega event after the event happened then go “oh well didn’t you know”. She was clueless even though they had to take 6 weeks of omega classes. Esp regarding the heat scene.
The main alpha calls Perrie PET all the freaking time. PET PET PET PET PET PET PET.

This was a decent enough Omegaverse story where the FMC finds herself in an arranged marriage, which surprisingly works out quite well. There are only two alphas here, so a rather small pack. The three characters are finding themselves in a brand new situation and it was interesting to see how things would progress between them. Low in angst despite the strong mafia elements, this story was fairly pleasant.
this was okay. i was so excited because i feel like i’ve already read all the poly omegaverse packs books that exist, and then i saw this one!
but unfortunately, this just didn’t hit right for me. there were some good moments of heat and tenderness, but the narrative is just a little bit underdeveloped. there’s a lot in this book that we really don’t get to see or understand beyond superficial mentions.
this also doesn’t really feel like an mmf pack novel. edison and rhodes are barely an established couple. they’re more like coworkers with benefits? and perrie manages to have a relationship with both of them, but it doesn’t feel particularly solid. rhodes feels like an extremely secondary character to the story. granted, i understand that he has complicated feelings about “becoming a pack” but nothing really seems to get done about it? we’re led to believe that it would somehow be a really big deal for everyone to find out about, but when they go public, nothing happens? so it feels like a lot of unnecessary anxiety is injected into the plot with very little payoff later for why they needed to worry about it in the first place.
and even when the three of them decide to all be together, there’s just not a lot there. there’s a level of flirtation that is sexy and fun to read, but there’s just not a lot of romance or romantic tension built up between anyone other than perrie and edison. and consequently, their moments were my favorite because they felt the most specifically characterized. but i wished i would’ve gotten to feel that same spark and chemistry between perrie and rhodes, as well as between edison and rhodes. for being a polycule/pack novel, this book really mostly feels like 3 separate relationships.
and again, all the mafia stuff, the thing with her brother and her family, all of that feels sprinkled for drama, but not really fully explained. why is her brother suddenly a dick? why is the brother’s girlfriend suddenly some instrumental part of the family/mafia plan? there’s just some things here that weren’t very carefully plotted, but instead only came up in order to provide (confusing) plot elements.
Meet Perrie, a cancer survivor, now an omega in the middle of her wedding to Pack Ricci. Enter Edison Keane and Rhodes McCreary. Four years previously, Perrie had stumbled upon what she wasn’t intended to while hospitalized at age 18, seeing our two mafia men getting patched up by her oncologist. Whilst getting married to her betrothed pack (though not of Perrie’s choice), she’s kidnapped from her wedding and taken to the Keane estate, where she agrees to marry Edison, albeit without many other options. This eventually evolves into a love match, with both Edison and Rhodes being involved with each other and with their omega.
This was super fun to reach, a mash up of mafia romance and omegaverse? Say less, I’m in. I look forward to any other books in this series, I was hooked from the prologue.
As always, please check triggers. I very much reccomend, this was a fun and entertaining read.
Sweet Mafia omegaverse. Nothing dark about the Mafia theme. It was almost a comedy sketch gone wrong every time the "Mafia" characters attempted to do anything sketchy. I don't do very dark romance, but even I thought this was mild and cheesy.
Nothing was made of the age gap except as a punch line, an opportunity for the 22yr old virgin to make geriatric jokes. There was no tease or foreplay in the lead up to her first anything. They spent time together before they got married but the first kiss still happened at the wedding and there had been no build up, no excitement or trepidation at the idea.
There were elements of the novel that were technically good, but as a complete story, it just fell flat. The mmf romance was textbook and there was next to no relationship building explored on page between the Omega and the secondary Alpha. A lot of the story developed off page and the reader got the highlights. I'm not even sure why I finished as the payoff wasn't worth it.
I was disappointed and stopped reading at 25%. Definitely some conflicting information about this book. It wasn’t dark, as implied. Told from all POV, there was no real on page MM between the main alpha’s, everything was off page. The story just lacked depth, while trying to have depth...like including all the mafia families, yet not really giving much information.
As always, Calliope Stewart does an amazing job to suck readers into an Omegaverse world; this one includes growly, possessive alphas and a sweet, strong-willed omega. Glass Omega starts with us meeting the young Perrie who is in the hospital for leukemia treatment. While in her younger years, she's out of bed late one night and stumbles upon her doctor treating an Alpha for a wound. At the time, she didn't know that Alpha and his dark, brooding, leather jacket wearing companion were going to be her future. Fast forward four years, Perrie is in remission and in a wedding dress being forced into an arranged marriage with Pack Ricci. There is no love here, just something her political father is using her to gain support. So, it's not that terrible that during her wedding, another familar Alpha - Edison, shows up, and his familiar companion, Rhodes, literally carries her off from her wedding. After finding out her father technically sold her to Edison Keane first. It's a quick ride through the book. Perrie knows that Edison is the lesser of two evils (compared to Pack Ricci) and chooses to go into a marriage contract herself with him. However, this marriage contact gets blurred and real feelings form, along with the pull of adding a third member and creating a Pack - when the Keane history is of tradition, and that means NO PACK. But, this third member doesn't stand a chance of not giving into his feelings I always enjoy Calliope's writing and stories, and this was no different. The downfall, if I had to complain about something, would be the fast forwarding and time passing; I would love to have more bonding time and see more of feelings being developed. Then, with all the twists and turns , we were basically kept in the dark until the end and given an explanation. Minor details that I can get over, because we still get the knots, nests, growly alphas, and a sweet omega that we love to read about.
*ARC review* This was the sweetest mafia romance I think I’ve ever read (I mean that in the nicest way). The main characters were likable and engaging, and they all had unique personalities which can sometimes be hard to accomplish in omegaverses/polyamorous books. The spice was good and not overwhelming the actual plot, and the plot itself was interesting and kept me reading. The only reason I give this books 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because I feel like the relationship with Rhodes and Perrie could have been better developed in more detail, and a lot of the conflict was skipped over and resolved crazy fast. That plays well into how fluffy this book is, but made me lose some of my interest - I had to push to finish it when the conflict was so quickly resolved and then also partially fade to black.
Calliope Stewart is such an underrated author, literally every book she writes is a slam dunk for me. Glass Omega was definitely not an exception.
This was dark, very much with "touch her and d!E" vibes. The pack dynamics were absolutely delicious, and the story was fast paced enough to keep me hooked. Perrie was such an interesting character to read about, considering the cancer diagnosis and the arranged marriage to mobsters. I truly loved every second of this book.
It was a nice change of the typical warm omegaverse books I read, this one had more plot twist, not so basic, but lovely either way. A like the mafia twist to it and marriage of convenience, like actually for convenience.
I adored every second of this book. I was hooked from the get go. I loved the characters and how they grew into their relationships together. calliope stewart just might be becoming one of my favourite authors for omegaverse books
Liked that it was a different take on mafia. Less dark than most. I like dark, but this was a refreshing variant. Liked the age gap and the little jokes about it.
Didn’t love that they never really felt connected as a triad. I would have liked more bonding on a friendship level interactions.
It also never really felt like an omegaverse. And the scents were SO basic. Chocolate. Vanilla. Strawberry. Really? At least give us some profile depth. Dark chocolate. Vanilla bean. Strawberry syrup. Idk 🤷♀️ even if the scents combined make Neapolitan, it’s still boring individually.
Really didn’t like the rushed ending. Last 3-4 chapters were like wham bam bye.
Romance trope: omegaverse; menage; age gap Length: 413 pages
Plot: Perrie has survived childhood cancer, but she might not survive her wedding. Her father is determined to marry her off for influence, but Edison, head of the Irish mafia, is determined to grab that influence for himself. He crashes her wedding to the Italian pack and makes off with her. He has plans to solidify his own pack, even though that's not the way his family does things. He just has to get his omega and his second-in-command on board.
Commentary: I liked the idea of Edison going against his family traditions to start his own pack (although pack was a little ambitious since there were just two other people, but start small, hmm?). But that wasn't a thread that was tied up at the end. A big deal was made about how it just wasn't something that was done and so Edison was really working on getting the younger members of the family on his side, presumably so he could do new and different things like form a pack. What happened with that? What was the reaction of the newer generation? Did they accept that? Did some of them start making packs of their own? There were a lot of families introduced and I feel like they might be part of future books but I couldn't be bothered to care about them here. I wish there was a little more interaction between Rhodes and Perrie. In fact. I sort of hated that he was being used as her bodyguard at school because it didn't make sense to have the mob leader's best guy, second in command, somewhere else besides with his boss. Surely there was someone else who was competent. And he spent all that time with Perrie but they still couldn't get to know each other because she was busy with class. Her brother had a distinct personality shift that didn't make sense and wasn't fully explained. It wasn't just that he was saving his twit of a girlfriend by sacrificing his sister to a life of sex slavery, which, let's be honest, is horrible enough. It's that as soon as she ended up with Edison, he started berating and belittling her when he was nothing like that before. It was out of character. I thought Perrie was cute enough, and Edison was intriguing, aside from the "pet" thing. Rhodes could have been interesting, had we gotten a little more from him. I could almost see this one as a duet, with the characters fleshed out some. It had so much potential!
“Glass Omega” by Calliope Stewart is, like many of the first books in a series, more plot than anything else.
As an omegaverse fan, I go into these books eager to see each authors take on the trope (genre?). While Stewart has written some strong, entertaining OV’s, “Glass Omega” unfortunately fell short to me. Though truthfully not in length, as it honestly read quite long.
Like many of her first books, I felt that it was more macro plot development than actual storyline. As far as characters go, I didn’t find myself rooting for anyone in particular. The MMCs weren’t remarkable and, for being a mafia romance, there was nothing cutthroat about them or their lives. Instead, they felt rather lackluster and the mafia aspect felt forced. The omega FMC was equally as flat and was altogether dull. As I sit here writing this review I find myself drawing blank on what she actually contributed…
Now, that isn’t to say that it’s a bad book! The characters are entertaining and the steamy scenes are well written. While this book wasn’t a hit for me I have no doubt that the series will get better over time. Stewart always reads this way to me, and I wouldn’t give up on her just yet! If you’re new to omegaverse, I would recommend this book. If you’re a voracious reader like myself, then consider going into it knowing that the series will certainly get better with each book.
What I liked: - The pacing of the romance. It had a nice lead-in to their pack romance even if it technically took place over a matter of months. - The two alpha MMCs are pretty distinct characters, which is always a challenge to pull off in OVs. - Peregrine is such a cute name for an FMC 🥰
What I didn't like: - I'm a jealous girl. When there's MM in an OV book, I need it to still be, at least emotionally, about the FMC. That's just me, though. Others may like the sweet budding relationship between the MMCs! - I thought that Perrie's dad would play a much larger role in the big showdown at the end. Considering he's the Mayor of NYC, it seemed odd that he doesn't make an appearance. - When I see "age gap," I think DDLG dynamics, which this isn't really. Fifteen years seems like a small age gap, all things considered, and they didn't really exploit that in a major way besides the fact that the FMC was never able to attend college.
Anywho, I'm looking forward to reading Cini's beta story with Pack Amante! I think I'll enjoy that one a lot, since the groundwork has already been laid. (Also, I'm super down for the feral alpha and her FBI agents story, if Stewart's up for it!)
The only reason I finished was because of the plot outside of the romance... but even that took way too long.
I struggled to like the mmcs in this one... Doing things like not going to Perrie's cancer check up? Not calling and checking in while away on business? Like.. I just felt like they weren't "book boyfriend" material I guess and that irked me.. They weren't even morally grey they just kind of sucked sometimes? If that makes sense. They were also just kind of ignorant. Defending themselves by saying that it was Perrie's choice to be with them even though it was him or a pack that wasn't shy with their dislike of her? Wow. What a choice.
But honestly... Perrie wasn't much better. You would think that after everything she had been through she would stick to her guns a little better. Especially considering how "mature for her age" she was... but no. As soon as Edison told her to jump she would ask "how high?" even though her inner monologue had just said she was going to stick to her guns and have the difficult conversation with him.
Also.. the mm in this was *uncomfy* because there was literally like 0 chemistry since they both wouldn't admit to even having romantic feelings for each other.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I actually liked the premise of this book BUT.....I DNF'd at 57% because it just wasn't grabbing me. I actually have loved several other Calliope Stewart books so I'm not abandoning her altogether!! But it was just taking me too long to get through it and that's just unusual for me with omegaverse stories. Sorry!!!
We start this Omegaverse story with Peregrine/Perrie, our FMC, wishing that things were different in her life. After spending years sick with cancer, instead of being able to get on with living her life, her parents take advantage of her re-emerging omega designation to arrange a wedding to a pack she would be happy to keep in her rear view mirror. THANKFULLY, after a messed up deal that her dad made, she is saved (umm, well, it was actually sort of kidnapped 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😂) right from the altar. Edison & Rhodes, our 2 MMCs, weren’t a pack, although Edison wanted them to be even though heads of his family didn’t do packs…EVER, so as to ensure proper breeding bloodlines 🙄 Edison was determined to have Perrie AND Rhodes though, yet he REALLY had his work cut out for him since both of them were EXTREMELY stubborn 😏 Watching Perrie & Rhodes come together was like watching a chess match, and just waiting for the inevitable checkmate. Yet it was with a king at their center because for awhile there, the main thing they had in common was their mutual feelings for Edison while they circled each other like they were opponents in s boxing ring. Yet while it seemed like those 2 were going to be the hard part of this romance, Edison’s past was the real enemy (okkkk, maybe all the trigger happy mob families who weren’t fond of Edison choosing Perrie were kind of enemies too 😝😂). With so many obstacles, internal & external, for all 3 of our main characters, was it hopeless to assume that all 3 of them could find true love & a HEA together? Because a war was on the horizon, and the mystery of who was behind it may make any decisions they make null & void. Yet maybe they were all just stubborn enough to not let anyone come between what they all really want…each others hearts & a bright future to spend together 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Grab this mafia, Omegaverse, age gap (F-22, M—both 37), marriage contract, MMF (yep, we have high 🔥& ⚔️👀🥵😈), slow/medium burn romance today to read this awesome start of a brand new trilogy. It’s an intense & action filled roller coaster ride from the beginning all the way through to the very last chapter! Calliope’s brilliant mind never fails to bring us the perfect balance of suspense, danger, passion, romance & the love that conquers all 🙌🏻❤️🙌🏻
It includes the super popular trope we tend to find most in Mafia romance, when a daughter is sold by her father to a powerful man in the mafia in order to cover a debt. But with the added OV dynamics, it definitely takes it to another level or drama and steam!
Perrie is the daughter of a mayor and gubernatorial hopeful--who we find out is complete trash! He shows little to no interest in her while she undergoes years of cancer treatment, a reality which greatly affects her Omega biology, essentially rendering her "useless" to him and his career. That is until she finally goes into remission and receives a clean bill of health. Immediately, her garbage father sells her off to a pack of alphas who have no interest in her, in exchange for a sizable donation from one of the biggest mafia families around.
With zero say in her future, Perrie begrudgingly accepts her fate; but when the wedding day comes, a powerful alpha and leader of the Irish mafia, storm into the church-objecting to the nuptials. Accompanied by his right-hand man Rhodes-Edison presents proof that Perrie's father actually sold her to him first, and next thing you know, they've scooped up Perrie and make a quick exit.
Now Perrie is stuck in a mansion, set to marry this powerful alpha she knows nothing about. To her surprise, he actually allows her to negotiate the terms of their contractual marriage. He needs an Omega wife to solidify his position within the Family, and she wants complete bodily autonomy..and to go to college-something she would have never been able to do otherwise.
She is still a prisoner in a gilded cage but discovers that maybe her husband to-be isn't the big monster she thought. She also grows increasingly fond of Rhodes, her bodyguard and her husband's best friend. But what is a delicate little omega to do? Emotions tangle with desires between all three, and it is completely unputdownable! With the type of tension, I live for!
This is a MMF romance, with what I consider to be a slow burn. Obsessive and possessive Alpha heroes who will burn down the world for their omega. If you like your Mafia romances with actual mafia politics, this one has it all!
Loved Perrie's story and I'm eager to see where the series goes from here!
Note: This is NOT A DARK ROMANCE. It deals with sensitive topics such as cancer and cancer treatment, parental neglect, mentions of mental illness and self-harm.
- fmc with cancer - resilient fmc - nesting trauma - age gap - omegaverse - all characters 21+
📖 what I liked
I love calliope’s works. this was well written, the plot was strong. i was truly invested in the story and its characters.
I really liked our fmc, she had been dealt a shitty hand but she was resilient and pushed through it. I liked watching her adapt quickly to situations and her ability to compartmentalize as the situation calls.
Our main mmc, Edison, I just know he’s fine as fuck. the way he was written was absolutely chef’s kiss. He was absolutely sure of himself but had so many deeper layers that let us see into him. His quickness to activate the “disrespect her and die”….🥵🥵🥵
the other one was okay I guess, personally feel like he could’ve done better but whatever 😒
what I didn’t liked:
I don’t think there was anything I distinctly didn’t like. I do think we could’ve had more time developing the relationship with Rhodes & Perrie. It felt like we didn’t get enough of them actually being together.
⚠️ Triggers
- parental abuse - kidnapping - human trafficking - assault - mafia - cancer (not terminal)
🏳️🌈 Representation
polyamory
🌶️ Spice
the spice was 🥵, lately I’ve found myself skipping spice scenes but I found these to be particularly gripping and I enjoyed most of them. Edison knows how to fuck, good lord 🥵
📝 Special Notes
I did receive this an arc so all opinions are my own but I do recommend it and I will be buying a physical copy upon release.

Glass Omega: An Age-Gap Menage Romance (The Mafia Darlings Omegaverse Book 1) https://a.co/d/2zl3BBg
TROPES: ~omegaverse ~mmf ~arranged marriage ~15 year age gap
Mehhhhh. The heroine in this book had cancer and meets the heroes several years ago at the hospital. Currently, she's being forced to marry a pack of alphas who care nothing for her. The heroes come to the rescue and take her- one had put his hand for marriage in to her father before the other pack so he's just getting what he paid for, lol.
The two men in this book have an ongoing sexual relationship. They've been besties for years and four years ago, after OW tried to kill one of them during sex, he turned to his best friend for relief. He wants his bestie/second in command to join his "pack" with the heroine, his omega. But the other guy is reluctant.
This felt like cheating to me, so I didn't enjoy it. The heroine didn't know they were in a sexual relationship when she agreed to marry one of them. The two guys have sex and kiss ON THE DAY OF HER WEDDING, without telling the heroine that they were "together". She sees them and it doesn't put her off (but it icked me tf out). She wants them both, but one of the guys has some reluctance.
There's many sex scenes were it's just the two guys, or the husband/wife, before the other guy joins in. So I didn't enjoy this at all lol.
SAFETY: Virgin/manwhore/celibate: virgin heroine, one hero is a manwhore, the other there's no mention of his past OM/OW: OW drama Cheating/sharing: sharing galore (eventually) Triggers: cancer Kinks: breeding, dirty talk, praise/good girl, rough sex, group scenes HEA?: yes
Holy smokes, I couldn't put this book down. I seriously spent all day reading this, and now I have no idea what to read next. When I tell you I'm currently very sleep deprived, I mean it. I've been up almost a full 24 hours because I just couldn't wait to finish this.
Perrie has finally gotten the all clear that she's in remission from leukemia. Her omega instincts are still intact, and so what does her father do? Well, he auctions her off to the highest bidder. At the end of the day, she's just a pawn to him. When her father double crosses another alpha, Perrie is left to make things right.
I loved Perrie! There were several moments where her thoughts/actions made me lol. She pointed out the age gap between her and one of the alphas out in such a hilarious way 🤣. Edison and Rhodes were good alphas, and I'm glad they took into account Perrie's wants. Her whole life, she had to bend to her parents' whims, and finally, she gets a say.
OK, so the ending got a little unhinged, and I can't wait to find out if what was done was successful.
This is definitely not a dark mafia book and is honestly kinda sweet - but I really enjoyed it. I wish there was some more interactions between the main three characters all together though. Calliope Stewart's characters are always just so fun for me to read! I really liked how Perrie always tried to stand up for herself. Edison was very reasonable for a criminal and very sweet with her and Rhodes. Rhodes is the suffer in silence type and when he finally opens up I adored him. A few things that seemed off; the whole pack thing is a HUGE deal for generations and we never get to see how everyone else feels about the change. I wanted a little more between Rhodes and Edison once they admitted their feelings. And Perrie's brother just seemed like a strange character bouncing back and forth between clueless and sucky. Like he just didn't make any sense to me. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I'm excited for the next story which I'm hoping features the deaf beta who's name I cannot remember.
I really enjoyed this story, and especially the characters. Just love Perrie, Rhodes and Edison, they’re amazing together. I loved how they naturally seemed to grow together. Warning for people who don’t like it, there is some MM. It’s really well done and I loved it, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
I did think it could’ve used another editing pass. There were a lot of missing commas or misplaced commas, sometimes a couple repeated words (eg using ‘now’ more than twice in close sentences) that did impact my reading a bit. I feel like the book could’ve been 5 stars if it had just been that little bit more polished for me.
The heat at the end also felt a little underwhelming to me. It was a bit rushed and I didn’t really get the whole ‘out of her mind with the heat’ feel from it, she was pretty lucid the whole time in my opinion. I did enjoy it, but I’d hoped to get more from it.
Excited to read the next instalment as soon as it’s out!
There is a big difference between slow burn and BORING and this book was BOOOORING. We have perrie aka pet edi aka mr flamboyant and rhode aka stone face, that’s it that’s the book Three characters that apparently, allegedly are soooo into each other we get two scenes with stone face and flamboyant which were pg 13 if you want to categories it. We have pet and flamboyant who have a “wedding night” scene which was barely 18+ but was interrupted by stone face so we never got anywhere with that and a whole lot of useless nonsense in between. This book failed at every category it claimed to be about the mafia was so mediocre it honestly felt like someone was telling me about a family reunion of their neighbour’s cousin. The MMF aspect didn’t even present itself by 50% so more than likely it was rushed in the latter half because there is absolutely no foundation for it in the former. Omega verse….. where? Honestly it feels like the author bit off more than they could chew.
🎶 Anything by Stewart imma' read. Anything by Stewart imma' read. If it's written and it's fun, best believe I am the one--if it's Stewart and it's written, imma' read. 🎶
This one was great. Few typos, missed person mentions, whatever. Pretty solid though! But all the books by this author are. Bish can writeeeeeee. Really enjoyed! --I don't normally like mafia books--gore irritates me. I loved this one, so while there's death and dismemberment off-page, it still happens.
To the other points mentioned in other reviews: I disagree heartily. Per's relationship with her second alpha happens softly, and isn't a huge in your face connection like hers and Edi's is. So while fire is tampered, it'll still cook son. And as to her nickname, 'Pet'--her name by begins with a 'Pe.' So duh. Writes itself at that point. Don't let it trip you up, it's clear the intention of Edison adores her, even in the beginning he's smitten. Anywho.
This is an MMF omegaverse arranged marriage/marriage of convenience mob story. It starts a bit slow, with the story laying the groundwork of the relationship and life Perrie (the omega) now lives with her new alpha Edison and his second in command alpha Rhodes.
A lot happens in the background of the story and it seems quite low stakes until about 80% in. That’s when the story ramps up and everything that’s been building takes place. Most of the violence/gore is only alluded to.
I enjoyed the book though I wished for something a little more. Perrie is an omega who has leukaemia and I really enjoyed the way it affected her, how her body was changed because of it. Her relationship with the alphas seems to come really easily and I wished for maybe a bit more tension between them. It was a good read though.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
Something felt off about this triad. Their relationship was all over the place. At first it felt like Edison and Rhodes were more into each other with Perrie feeling like an outsider/third wheel. Then it switched around with Rhodes feeling like the outsider/third wheel.
It's weird because Rhodes and Edison basically stopped having any form of intimacy/interactions with each other even after becoming a pack. I also felt like Rhodes and Perrie never really developed an in depth relationship. They felt more like friends who just suddenly slept together and randomly declared their love for each other at the end.
I personally didn't like Edison at the beginning. I felt like he was teasing/toying with both Rhodes and Perrie's feelings. He was also a bit manipulative. I'm kind of disappointed that his relationship with Rhodes kind of fizzled out. Overall, it felt like Edison and Perrie became the main couple while Rhodes was just an extension/third pack mate.
