The stories in this novel were not my cup of tea. I love horror, fantasy, and sci-fi content. The ideas were there, but the execution repeatedly fell short. For instance, I liked the start of Wings of Ghostly Silver, but as the perspectives changed, so did my thoughts on the story. The Cure had an interesting start until the perspective or scene changed and completely changed the vibes.

I found some of the word choices poor. Throughout the novel, the phrase "The thing" is used 35 times to describe the creatures in the stories. The word "thing" is not a good descriptive word, and using words such as beast, monster, creature, and humanoid creates a better visual in the mind. For me a thing can be anything, it's not scary. I struggled to feel anything for the different perspectives which I'm not sure if it was writing or length related or both.

That said I like trying new things. I don't normally read short stories or flash fiction, maybe they're just not for me.

This was an interesting fast read. It's a mixture of flash fiction- stories that are 1-5 minutes long. Not everyone likes that, but I have a couple older books that are collections of 5 minute murder mysteries and I enjoy them every now and again. Next there were short poems mixed in, and overall, I think I liked them better than the flash fiction which surprised me because I don't read much poetry. Finally, there are 3 longer pieces that the author calls intermissions in order to mix up the pace a bit. They are still only 10-15 minute reads. One of these was my favorite story in the book- "Having Power Sucks". I could see this being a prequel to a longer book or series. The overall feel of the book reminded me of 80's horror. Blood, guts, and nobody is save, not even kids.
