My name is not the only thing on Nicklas Knight's naughty list—so is my body.
He's the most possessive man I’ve ever met—cold and calculating.
When he needs an heir, he offers me a contract that ensures my sister is taken care of for a long time.
In return, he buys the right to breed me.
This December, I belong to him—and trust me, he's no jolly old Saint Nick.
His jealousy is a living, breathing thing, and he won’t tolerate anyone else even glancing in my direction.
I’m his obsession, his prize, and he’ll stop at nothing to make sure I understand that.
The thing is, he’s also becoming mine…
"Bought by Santa" is a dark, twisted Christmas standalone with a HEA. In this story, love is a dangerous game, and surviving means surrendering to the flames. This is a fast burn with an MMC who is possessive to the extreme, intended for mature audiences only.
Please note: even though all the books in the Seasonal Obsessions are standalones, there's an overarching plot and details that carry over between the three books. But each book will follow a different Knight sibling.
Bibi is a dark romance author who is addicted to coffee, Piña coladas, and chocolate... all the beautiful things that make life go around.
She loves talking about herself in third person, it makes her feel special. She lives in the North East of England, in a small town no one has ever heard of. Her household (herself and her boyfriend of 10 years) is ruled by their feline mistress who puts the 'tude in Tortitude.
Bibi recently changed her pen name from Ren Blakely to B. Lybaek. A pure vanity move as she wanted to see her real name on her books #NamesMatters
You can find Bibi all over the internet.. probably procrastinating.
"Mafia" hero is giving preppy rich boy playing at being a thug.
"Cam girl" heroine is giving me whiplash with her ever rotating personalities; too scared, too innocent; too experienced, too spitfire-y.
But it wasn't the annoying typos and nonsensical plot that finally made me quit, but he 'legal' contract.
They both speak as if that ridiculously put together document could actually be enforced by a court of law... I just couldn't suspend my disbelief anymore.
i have so many issues with this book, but i’d like to start with the fact that there were several elements not on the content warnings page, that probably should’ve been listed. they didn’t all bother me, but they could’ve bothered others and yet they weren’t listed.
now, onto my other issues— what the hell was with Nicklas constantly referring to his cum as “jizz”? that’s such a teenage boy word and seriously made me gag. like, he’s over here trying to be stern and sexy, but then he says stuff like “all my jizz is for your cunt” and i almost gave up on this book right there. he also unironically refers to his balls as his “nuts” during a spicy scene. i understand there’s some words that authors don’t love, and “cum” or “balls” could be some of them, but sometimes, THOSE WORDS ARE NOT CHANGEABLE. having your grown mafia mmc saying “jizz” and “nuts” is just….. no.
also, i’ve read a lot of fast paced romance but… this entire book is supposed to take place over the course of only 25 days?! you’re telling me that in less than 25 days, this man went from only wanting her to carry his child and then get out of his life, to carving her initials into his chest while they have sex to show much he loves her???? and it’s not even her real initials yet!
oh, and let’s talk about him sticking period blood soaked fingers into her mouth! or the fact that when she does get pregnant, she gives him a positive pregnancy test and a bottle of lube, then tells him word-for-word: “now that i’m pregnant, i want you to fuck my ass.”
finally, within the first few chapters, when he captures her and takes her to his penthouse, he undresses her unconscious body, gropes her, and eats her out. all before knowing who she is, or even knowing her for more than an hour. and she had no idea any of this ever happens. and though “somnophilia (light!)” is on the content warnings page, i’d like to remind everyone that this particular instance does not count as just somnophilia, but also as NON-CON. which should be in the content warnings, but was not. when reading “somnophilia” on a content warnings page, if it’s not accompanied by a “non-con” or “dub-con” warning, then many people, including myself, assume it’s consensual. not having that non-con warning opens a very wide possibility for people who get triggered by that, to think this book is safe for them to read.
i LOVE myself some dark romance, it’s literally my favorite genre. there’s very little that i can’t look past or deal with in a dark romance; but this has by far been the worst one i’ve ever read.

Christmas inspire mafia dark romance. Şmüt was good, plot was so-so, but it was entertaining enough to keep reading.
The FMC is desperate for money in order to keep paying for her sister’s medical bills. When she is out of options, she takes matters into her own hands to find a rich bachelor to try to baby-trap him. Unfortunately, she runs into the MMC, where he unalives her chosen man of the night, and captures her for himself.
The MMC is the new head of his family’s mafia reign, and he must produce an heir before the end of the year. When he gets caught up in going after potential threats to his family, he finds just what could save his reign, she just doesn’t know it yet.
The FMC was no simp, and held her own against the MMC and his demands. She didn’t just bend to his will, and would still have some defiance, even against his many requirements. This was not an insta-love book, but definitely not a slow burn when it came to the şmüt. Started out as a hate-to-love I would say, with very much a 🔥.
This is a fast pace book, that is fully character driven. I knew that going in, so the only disappointment I had was that I could see all the plot twists from a mile away. Other than that, it is an enjoyable read and doesn’t take too much brain power to get through.
Tropes: ☑️ Touch her and 💀 (literally) ☑️ Dual POV’s (first person) ☑️ He fell first ☑️ Mafia ☑️ Contract Arrangement ☑️ Brëëding Kink ☑️ 🔪 Play ☑️ 🩸Bløød Play ☑️ HEA
It’s a sultry, Santa smut fest 🤣 with the addition of Mafia romance, dominance, violence and dare I say arrogance. Our FMC signs a contract to birth the next heir to the Knight empire. She needs to get pregnant before Christmas however, there are restrictions set in place. Our MMC is adamant if nothing else, he also is developing feelings for her which leads to some ‘athletic’ poses 🤭 not too mention he’s dominant by nature and her submissive side tends to show it’s face when he’s around, so expect aspects of BD5M, shibari, sp4nking and smexy aids.
For me it was a slow burn until it grasped you, and became an enjoyable read though I’m gonna say little parts were predictable except for one and that... Do read the triggers.
Read for a book club. I found this to be the most ridiculous, too many triggers, poorly written meh book I’ve picked up in a long time. Needs an actual plot.
Carolina is desperate. She’s drowning under the weight of her sister’s medical bills and running out of options, so she makes a reckless choice: find a rich man and secure her future the only way she thinks she can. Things go sideways fast when she crosses paths with Niklas who literally removes her chosen target from the equation and decides Carolina now belongs to him.
Niklas is the new head of his family’s mafia empire, and he’s on a deadline to produce an heir before the year is over. While dealing with threats to his power, he stumbles upon Carolina, who turns out to be exactly what he needs…even if she has no idea what she’s being pulled into yet.
What I really liked was Carolina’s backbone. She doesn’t roll over for Niklas or blindly obey his demands. Even when she’s stuck in an impossible situation, she pushes back, questions him, and holds onto her defiance. The romance isn’t insta love, but let’s be real the spice shows up quick. This is not a slow burn, and the pacing reflects that. It’s fast, character driven, and doesn’t waste time.
I went in knowing this would be a quick, trope heavy read, so my only real downside was that I could see most of the plot twists coming from a mile away. Still, it delivered exactly what I expected: dark holiday vibes, a possessive mafia MMC, a strong FMC, and plenty of tension.
If you’re in the mood for a naughty Christmas read with mafia flair and zero chill, this one fits the bill.
This book is not great but it is not bad. I like that it starts off getting right down to the story. There is not 10 chapters of boring back story. The story doesn't have really any down time to it. It just keeps going and I like that. It is kind of a dark and twisted Hallmark Christmas movie. Like you know how it will end but you just keep reading! Lolol.
I did not know what to expect when I received a copy of this book. Throughout reading, I questioned myself about a lot that was happening. The overall story and characters were well-written. If you like mafia with a twisted Christmas theme this highly recommended. The book is dual POV, one thing I thought was interestingfor each of the character chapters instead of using their names, they are identified as what they are. S instead of using Nicklas or Carolina, we have The Santa and The Breeder. One of my favorite quotes was, "I'm Nicklas Knight. I get what I want, and I want this hellcat to carry my heir". I like how Nik goes back and forth throughout the story calling her hellcat and kitten.
The story starts off with Nik needing to find someone in order to conceive/produce an heir within a timeline in order for him to keep his position as head of the Knight family. Unexpectedly, he meets Corlina, who agrees to be a surrogate in exchange for money to secure a decent future for her and her disabled sister. which started as a transaction turned possesiveness and love. the growth between the two the character in such a short time shows that love and for at any given time. Every now and then, it kind of gave Fifty Shades of Grey vibes when they were in the 'playroom' is the only way to describe it. I've been read B. Lybaek for some time now and honestly every book I've read I have not been disappointed. they way she write her stories are captivating wanting to know more, read more. She is a highly recommended author. and anyone interest should read her stuff.
Dark twisted, events center around Christmas without it actually being a holiday event. Carolina Sterling is a fiery independent young woman who is desperate to properly care for her paralyzed sister. In an effort to trap a rich man to help with the coat she stumbles into a bad Santa and his helper in a darkened alley way. Nikolas Knight the newest leader in his family “business” believes in family first. So when an attack on the business get personal he along with his brother investigates. While NOT spreading Christmas cheer to an individual he comes face to face to the solution to a looming problem. A women to give him, and the family an heir. A web of coercion, family tradition, love and duty fill the pages of the book. It’s quite spicy and dark. And honestly it could have been a little less spicy and the plot would have been just fine. I did gasp out loud and almost cried at one point! Check your triggers: Death of a dear loved one The sale of a humans (off page) Violence, gore Grief Kidnapping Knife play
Carolina is doing everything she can to support her disabled sister: cam work, sugar daddy hunting, anything to keep her in care. One night, while out with a potential mark, she stumbles across our hero (in a Santa suit, naturally) unaliving someone in an alley. Her date bolts, but Carolina stays and ends up
Turns out Santa (aka Nicklas) is actually part of the Knight Mafia and (for reasons that were never made clear) has been tasked by his father and the British Mafia boss to produce an heir by Christmas. So he offers Carolina $10 million to be his brood mare. She agrees, and the breeding kink kicks in immediately, which works for this setup.
This was one of those Christmas mafia romances where you just have to buckle in and go with it — and I did. It’s chaotic, kink-heavy, and occasionally baffling, but also oddly compelling. I gave it four stars because, despite the odd bits, it kept me entertained and delivered on the festive mafia mayhem. I took it for what it was and had a good time.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this as it’s my first ever Christmas dark romance, but wow. B. Lybaek never fails to keep you on your toes with her writing. I loved the story line and despite the pregnancy/breeding trope being my least favourite she did it so well I forgot my hatred for it hehehe!! A fiery FMC and a man in desperate need for an Heir. What a perfect combination. I loved it!
I did find it was a it over descriptive at times and my utter ickiness I get from the word folds i couldn’t deal with that. But that’s just a me thing and nothing to do with this lovely lady’s writing!! Please do yourself a favour and read this!! Put it in your December TBR 🥰
It's a perfectly decent dark Christmas romance. I wish it was 150 pages less. It would have benefited from being a novella versus a full novel. I liked Carolina enough and the same for Nicklas, but unfortunately, that hunger in the words just wasn't there for me personally. Too much side plot felt like ut got in the way of their relationship build and it didn't push the envelope sexually as much as i assumed it would but that's on me. It hit the mark, but I couldn't feel it.
Holy crap! I picked this book for a challenge and absolutely loved it. I didn’t read the blurb before diving in and quickly found out it was mafia theme with romance. I love how they quickly realized they weren’t going to be able to stay away from each other. I loved how she jumped right in and became part of the family almost immediately. She was absolutely perfect and I loved watching her character grow. There was a very heartbreaking scene that made me tear up. Overall I loved this book so much!
My first Christmas dark romance. I had no idea what to expect but leave it to Bibi to make it an enjoyable read. If you like your men over the top possessive and the story slightly unhinged you definitely want to read this book.
I did struggle with one thing though. The fmc never mentioned anything about leaving her baby. I believe any woman would have had a lot of questions and doubts about that part.
Wow! This is a dark and twisted story about love, family, expectations and evil. I didn't initially believe the relationship between the MMC and FMC but then there was a switch and I got it, sometimes your just drawn to someone.
This story has heartbreak and a devastating encounter that broke me. However I devoured this book in a few hours and really look forward to more in what I think is a series.
