In the wake of the fall of Krakoa, the X-Men are forever changed. As Jean Grey prepares to take her place among the stars, she and Cyclops share a last night together, only to discover a hidden mystery that threatens to pull them apart. Meanwhile, what was supposed to be a mundane article about Charles Xavier's monstrous acts during the war turns into something far stranger for journalist Sally Floyd. Can the X-Men survive the shadows lurking in their pasts, or will their new era begin in tragedy? Collecting FROM THE ASHES INFINITY COMICS #1-6.
I kind of like both stories but, where I can’t see why one is important the other is so important I’m shocked it was originally only released as an Infinity Comic. I’m a bit tired of this back and forth with Charles, we didn’t need a redemption arc just let him be a lying hypocrite and call it a day.
Seen a lot of negative reviews for this comic and i really dont think its necessary! The art is really good here, at least to me, and the stories told are great and add a lot to the new status quo for the x-men which started last year!
The first story "Eversong" focuses on Jean and Scott post-Krakoa and the night before Jean leaves for space and tells a nice story about their love, future, and Scott's insecurities about their life together.
The second story "What Charlie Did" focuses on Sally Floyd, a reporter for the Daily Bugle, delving deep into the scandals surrounding Charles Xavier and what exactly he did when he killed 12 "people" aboard the Agnew, while also struggling with her own demons and cascading life.
I love Alex Paknadel's writing and seeing Ben Urich show up was awesome too! 4/5 stars
Everything looks deformed and warped. Isn’t this the same artist that got caught tracing the work of others? I dunno….. this just wasn’t fun to look at. I’ll read it again and try to ignore the abstract artwork.
