THE MAKER'S ULTIMATE WEAPON! From rising star Chris Condon (That Texas Blood) and MOON KNIGHT powerhouse artist Alessandro Cappuccio comes the story of the ULTIMATE WOLVERINE! In order to maintain control of their corner of the Maker's world, three members of his council - Magik, Colossus and Omega Red - deploy their most lethal The Winter Soldier! But WHO is the weapon behind the mask?
A bloody and brutal first issue. This wolverine is used as a tool by some evil fucks. The artwork is also great here, and some sad deaths. Overall intrigued where we go from here.
By far one of the most exciting titles in the new Marvel Ultimate universe. The decision to make Wolverine into the Winter Soldier is such an inspired decision.
Am I sad that my favourite X-Men are evil or dead? Yes. But I really am excited for what lies ahead in this story. It’s very grim-dark BUT that’s a choice, and an exciting one at that.
The art is utterly gorgeous and complements the words in such a powerful way.
Reading Nightcrawler’s letter after seeing what happened to him is just the final nail in the coffin. His fondest memory is such a simple thing- a pet name from a good friend. It’s only a matter of time before Logan wakes up from the mind control, and when he does, this will be what kills him.
“We came back for you. We would always come back for-“
This is the best Wolverine origin story since the original Weapon X story. You will love the new twist and turns in the story. I would highly recommend this series.
Oh! Look Ultimate Wolverine! How long until we get Ultimate Deadpool? Or Ultimate Punisher? All kidding aside, I’m surprised I didn’t like this more. My major complaint with the Ultimate X-Men book was the lack of any big name X-Men. Here we get a half dozen recognizable mutants (some who don’t sadly last the issue), but the issue left me lacking. I think a lot of it had to do with the mechanics of the narrative. The story bounced between current day and flashbacks with no discernible differences. It took me three read throughs to get the timeline down right. I’ll definitely give it a few more issues, but not an auspicious start.
Una grata sorpresa. Un cómic sólido y entretenido. Quizás es poco imaginativa o poco revolucionaria, pero es una buena historia de Lobezno. Qué más le puedo pedir?
"Ultimate Wolverine takes violence and action to the extreme, presenting a more brutal and complex version of the iconic hero. With unexpected twists, this story redefines the character in the Ultimate universe, keeping tension and excitement at its peak."
Really interesting!! Kind of the Superman Red Son, at seem it look like it at first. What if the Soviet/Russian have put their hand on Wolverine first and used him. The story was good and the action was awesome, can't wait to read the next one. It has been a while since a Marvel series has caught my attention that much! Let's hope it keep the pace!
I tend to stray away from the Wolverine sphere of Marvel comics. The hyper-violence of symbiote titles and characters like Deadpool rocked my world as a teenager, but don't really do a whole for me as an adult. But when I saw this one making waves, I decided to check it out.
Wow. Ultimate Wolverine was a kinetic whirlwind. It is exactly what I just described, ultimate badass going out, being menacing and making kills but man... it was a stunner. It worked for me. A shot of adrenaline in comic-book form.
I don't know if this book could sustain my enjoyment going forward, but as an #1, it is exactly the crash of lightning you need as an introduction!
Despite being shown dead in the Free Comic Book Day issue of The Ultimates, Wolverine is alive and well on Earth-6160! The pitch behind Wolverine being the Winter Soldier in this universe is pretty fantastic since both Logan and Bucky are WW2 vets who have their minds wiped to work for Hydra, or Rasputingrad in this case. We immediately dive into the drama with the tragic deaths of Nightcrawler and Mystique, so I’m curious if the rest of the X-Men (whoever the Maker hasn’t gotten his hands on yet) will ever forgive him. I just hope my special boy Scott Summers is okay! This was a great debut issue!
My first read of the new Ultimate universe and this was such a cool twist to the character of Wolverine. Becoming the winter solider in this universe was an idea I never knew I wanted. I love the bloody panels and just the overall violence and dread Wolverine has and it just leaves so much questions that I want answered. I also love his new design so much the mask he wears is sooooo cool.
Loved this. The new look for Logan is awesome, the art is fantastic and there’s just as much brutality as there is tragedy since this time around Logan has become the Winter Soldier instead of Bucky Barnes. The Mutants that we know and love are now being hunted by him and it hurts to see.
I’m really curious to see how his development from WS to Wolverine turns out.
I'm definitely intrigued. I think some people will misunderstand at time when it is a flashback or not. The art and colours were good. The story has my curiosity. Sad to see so many good characters die but we still have them in main continuity or because it's Logan, it could be manipulation.
Bought it on a whim at my LCS, and I'm very glad I did. This was a fantastic first issue and I'm excited to see the story unfold over the next few months. Adding it to my pull list next time I'm at the shop. I'll make sure to sing the praises to anyone I see grab this book off the shelf.
This was a fine book with some great art! The story was good and I’m definitely interested in reading more, but I do think it relied a little heavily on cliches. Likewise, Kurt’s hesitation in terms of helping his friends took me out of the story a bit. Still, I think this series has promise.
Surprisingly good. The art was good and fitting for this series. Such cool concepts and ideas to play with. I look forward to seeing this thing to the end.
hell of a way to come out the gate. i am not quite sold on this but i’m sticking with it on my quest to be a new ultimate universe completionist. rip kurt and raven 😭
