Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for Christmas books after Christmas. This contained 3 books, all from a dual POV, which got a bit irritating after the first one. The first one could have been tied up more quickly, and although the writer tried to give us some meaningful phrases, she didn't quite pull it off. The writing was also a bit too americanised. I scanned through some of it so that I could finish it and move onto something I wanted to read. Ok, but a bit disappointing all in all.
This ebook consists of 3 separate stories by the same author. I gave a rating per story.
1) A Holly Jolly Grumpy Grinchmas 🎄
Jax and Poppy have grown up together, being the best of friends. Their mothers love to prank other people, including their kids. The ultimate get back for Jax and Poppy would be to fake their relationship...
I really liked this story. Told from both their POV, and it's cute how they look back to the past and their feelings. The use of adjectives(especially about his body) might be a bit too overdone.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
2)Just add Mistletoe 🥰 This is a cute story, but with every sentence he is saying how beautiful she is. '..she is more beautiful' 'almost as beautiful as her eyes'. And it gets too much, and annoying after a while. The writing style wasn't up to my liking.
There was a part in it that I thought already happened.. But all in all it was really cute.
⭐️⭐️✨️
3) The ex who stole christmas kisses🎄😘🌶 This was very spicy. Laden with smut. Like fully focussed on it. Like there wasn't anything else in their world. This way of writing was the worst for me. There were many, bad, metaphoric references, the dialogues felt very unclear at multiple times. But great comeback of the female main character.
⭐️ maybe ⭐️⭐️
I liked the first story the most. I did not want to DNF though. Very bad at DNFing(maybe it gets better?)
Gah! I hate that Poppy and Jax were foiled when they were younger! And then, even though they're almost 30, they still struggle with being honest with one another! All I wanted was to get to end of the book and their happily ever after!!!
Just Add Mistletoe
Can I please give a book more than 5 stars??? Graham is my new favoritist book boyfriend!!! He is swoon-worthy to the max! I love him so very much! And Mistletoe is an Amazing name! All he needed was a little Mistletoe!! Gah!! Straight to the feels!! I'm going to make my husband read this one!! See if he learns anything from Graham!! Lol! And Noel is absotively posolutely precious! December Joy Holiday. *sigh* THIS is how a romance book is meant to be. Love. Love. Love. Love.
The Ex Who Stole Christmas Kisses
While I enjoyed Laney and Ryder's story, I don't like that his mother chose a girl for Ryder and did everything in her power to push Meg and Ryder together with zero guilt for ruining Ryder and Laney's relationship. It's so sad when a choice must be made between blood family and chosen family. Clearly, Rue, Ryder's mother brought it on herself. It's still sad. At least the love between Ryder and Laney is romantic and steamy.
If you are in the mood for a hallmark story this is it. And in my personal opinion the second story is the best, the most complete and that makes sense in a hallmarky way. The others I found lacking something, in the first one it is a likable character and i found the “reason” behind the “conflict” kinda weak; and In the second I was missing some conflict hahaha I read some saying you needed some background to read this, but I don’t find it necessary. Just go into the book with that hallmarky mood and you’ll find enjoyable things.
2.5 stars. These are characters from other books as there's a lot of backstory exposition. The first two stories featured FMCs who, for not very good reasons, pretended they didn't like the MMCs. The last story was so odd. I sort of want to count how many "heck" references there were as everyone said that but then participated in very adult behaviors. Maybe it was an ongoing joke from other books? Anyway, some mindless reading of holiday romances.
But the first one just seemed to be dragged a little to much. But all three ended well. They were all well written and love came through all of them though they had a difficult time getting there.
It's a perfect seasonal read! Three stories for the price of one. Each is appropriately different from the other. Warm and cosy storylines to start off those Christmasy feelings. All with my favourite ending...... a HEA ❤️ Happy Christmas!
DNF after the first story because it was awful… plot was predictable and dialogue was very rough. No investment in the characters or any character development. It also suffered that I was listening and the narrator was not good - very monotone without good inflection… it did help me sleep
Made it through the first book but really not sure why...not going to bother with the 2nd two...tried to listen to the audiobook but that was even worse. The only thing worse than AI narration is AI narration with a lisp. Torture
I enjoyed the stories. Meddling moms- good and bad. I struggled with some of the editing. Several sentences made no sense, details didn't line up (she has blonde curly hair one minute then dark hair the next). Always love a good Christmas romance, though.
