This book was amazing! It was such a quick read for me and interesting start to finish. I’m amazed by how the author is able to talk about all the insane things that happened in her life but still find the positives and feel grateful for the good that came out of such a terrible situation! I loved her as an actress but now also love her as an author!! I loved the humor she used and how she explains what she was thinking or feeling about the situations where I was floored she stayed but she shares how and why she felt like she couldn’t leave. Chapter 28 broke my heart for her. I am happy she got out and shared her story. Very powerful! Amazing! Wonderful! Worth the time to listen:) 10/10
So interesting to see how easily modern Christianity can morph into spiritual manipulation that leads to a cult. I have lots of personal experience in Christian spaces where it feels like you will never measure up to the pinnacle of Christian spirituality. Would recommend to anyone even if you weren’t a One Tree Hill fan.
I have been a long-time fan of Joy, from One Tree Hill, and learning all that happened during her time filming was absolutely CRAZY! I was listening to the Drama Queens podcast, and caught hints of these things happening, but reading this book and really getting the full scope of how bad things were in her personal life, was just...Wow.
Such amazing writing. Loved that she included voice actors from her tv show. Truly such a sad story but her writing of it makes it come alive in a way I’ve never experienced from a memoir. Off to watch One Tree Hill 🏃
This book had me hooked, she did a great job giving an inside look at her life on set of one tree hill and in the cult. I like how she included the cast members with the audio
