Workout frequency? 3 times a week. Splits? None - each day is a full body, 70 odd set routine. Steroids? No way. Result? The best built man of his day, and arguably one of the best of all-time.
Reeves is a bodybuilder back when the sport was a real sport, not like today's steroid Olympics. His old school advice is extremely entertaining (drink lemon with water, run cold water on your genitals every day, eat raisins and drink carrot juice for your skin, etc.) A fascinating read and it will really make you question what you do for health and fitness.
Steve Reeves has some great ideas in this book .I find it very interesting to see ideas that are almost 70 years old that still apply today. Most of his training principles are what many natural lifters will suggest you train but on the flipside of that there are some things in here that are very out of date. This book is more for the seasoned lifter who can dictate which of these ideas are great and which ones are undated and dangerous. I plan to apply what I’ve learned from this book immediately and see what types of results I get. Even before reading this book most modern weightlifting professionals will suggest that full body training for natural lifters is superior to the bro split.
