Andi needed to get out and have fun. Or so her sister told her. After her ex, she couldn't exactly disagree. So they went to a bar to have a couple of drinks, maybe meet a hot guy. Andi was having fun, but she ran right into some guy on her way to the restroom. She offered to buy him a drink to apologize, but he was really rude and totally rejected her. What was his problem?
Cam plays hockey for the Lowball Bay Sea Dragons. He could have any puck bunny he wanted, and time was he did. But not anymore. He'd been burned before, and wasn't going to go there again. So when a cute woman bumped into him in the bar and pretended not to know who he was, he made sure she knew that wasn't going to happen.
They were both thoroughly surprised a week later, though, when Andi walked into the arena conference room to meet the players on the hockey team her father just gave her. Turns out, she really didn't know who he was.
When Cam told some of his teammates how he had met her and what he had said, they talked him into apologizing and making nice with her. So he did, and even offered to teach her about the game he loved.
They were good together, reluctant friends after the huge misunderstanding when they met. There was electricity between them from the beginning, and it only grew the more time they spent together. But still, the taboo of a relationship with someone who was technically her employee hung over them.
There were some deeper themes here, including body positivity and what could be construed as bullying from a family member. Cam thought Andi was beautiful, but she couldn't see that about herself.
Cam's teammates were quite the cast of characters, and there was some family drama thrown in there, too.
This was a really fun read and I can't wait for more!
