Retired from a life of espionage and murder, Serena runs a vineyard in France. She spends her days growing grapes, determining blends, and giving tours. Then her past comes back to haunt her, and she must go back to a life she thought she'd left far behind in order to survive the new threat.

Story is good, however there was a lot of repetition in the writing throughout. Constantly reminding us again and again that Serena had shown mercy, and would not do so again or that Le Poete would regret his actions. There are many other instances of full phrases that are used multiple times. And I can't get past the part where Serena seems to kill Le Poete twice, the second time completely ignoring the first - this should have been explained, or else it's a major continuity error.

The Widow: A Short Thriller (Retired Assassins' Club Book 2), my third enjoyable short (46 page) read from author Sam Chase that I finished in about 45 minutes. Reminiscent of the mystery writing of Daisy Landish. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author & in this series. Next up The Locksmith (Retired Assassins' Club #3). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.

A great instalment of the retired assassins book 2 . Gripping story. Serena Marchand is an assassin retired and is haunted by a nemesis ,she’s forced into the shadows , seeking a certain person’s help to survive.or being survived . Awesome stuff , written well

Once again an outstanding story that will keep you in suspense. Serena was happy living the quiet life, tending to her vineyard. Unfortunately this wasn’t going to last. Danger and secrets serotonin be the next step. Not to be missed.
