Crystal Perkins has always been a big reader, but she never thought she would write her own book, until she sat down in 2014 and did it. She's now published over 40 books, and has been featured in several anthologies as well.
She lived in Las Vegas for over a decade, where you could find her running author events and winning bookseller awards. She's was recently living in North Dakota to be closer to her family, but she is back in Vegas. When she's not reading a few hundred books a year or chasing after her grandson, you can find her watching hockey (Go Knights Go!) and trying to find the perfect shade of lipstick.
She loves Star Wars AND Star Trek, but if pushed to choose, it will always be Leia and her crew who come out on top. Her love of all things nerdy comes through in her book characters, no matter the genre. A mac and cheese connoisseur, she travels the world looking for the perfect version, while attending book conventions and signings as a cover for her research. Poutine research is also conducted regularly on her trips.
Her first series, The Griffin Brothers, followed four billionaire brothers, and the third book, Creating a Love, was a finalist for a multicultural award in 2014. Her second series, Corrigan & Co. featured a secret society of female spies in Las Vegas. She followed this with Society Girls, which offered a glimpse into the training of the women who are recruited into the Corrigan & Co. Foundation, and the Society. The Company Men series featured the relatives of her secret society of spies. Activate is a Young Adult Sci-Fi standalone novel, and A Kiss Is Just a Kiss is a Romantic Comedy standalone book. If you like something darker, you can find her Horror short stories in the Never Fear anthologies!
She’s currently writing about modern day witches in her Burn series, and bridesmaids for hire who solve mysteries in The Maids! In 2020, she will also be starting a hockey novella series.

Yasmin's life as changed quite a bit recently her parents have died an she as been left there book shop to look after she luvs the shop an wants to keep it to b as successful as they made it but things aren't goin as planned the shop isn't as busy as she would like she as plans but she hopes it doesn't come to that she doesn't have time for much else but work so when a guy Scott comes in her shop with the most gorgeous green eyes an is super sexy she can't keep her eyes of him but he doesn't seem interested but the girl Alex he is with catches her intention she looks so sad an Yasmin wants to make things better for her an books seem to b helpin put the smile back on her face an even just meeting each other they seem to have a lot in common but she can't seem to get her mind of Alex's Uncle Scott
Scott as been through a hell of a lot has have his family he feels a lot of pressure to make things rite when he didn't do anything he as mega trust issues after what happened with his last girlfriend he spend al his time working so after he saw Yasmin in the book shop an the way Alex seem to b a lil more happier after spendin time there the only thing on his mind is Yasmin he as never had these feelin before an doesn't really know what to do with them after what as happened with his family an his ex he couldn't go through that again but after seein her a few times it's hard to not to want her
These 2 characters have so many issue it's scary at times Yasmin with her confidence an then Scott with his trust issues it can get a lil annoyin an Yasmin was a lil annoyin in parts as well but I did end up likin her by the end I did understand why Scott was the way he was it still annoyed me when he was an ass I had a feel in what was goin to happen in the story but I didn't really mind I enjoyed it I liked the way that Yasmin kept Scott on his toes with her wantin him to woo her an once he had they were super hot an there sexy time smoking as well
I did enjoy this book it was really good it was so sad in parts but them really happy in others I liked Scott's family straight away an Yasmin's friends were great as well I m lookin forward to more f this series an this author this is my first book from this author an it won't b the last xxx
In the end I ended up not finishing the book..it was just pointless.
Yasmine (I'm sorry but calling her Yas was a bit annoying since I kept mistaking it for "Yes") was an alright character. BUT - she was so FREAKING annoying! She cried at like EVERYTHING it was so annoying and AWKWARD. Like she cried in-front of people she just met and it was just cringy. And it was annoying how everything came back to how she looked..she was so quick to blame everything on the way she looks..she was too insecure and had some self esteem issues- which is fine..but also highly irritating when she sorta looks down on herself constantly. She was always crying EVERY 5 MINUTES about how she "can't compete". It made me as a reader feel as if she was ugly/something was wrong with how she looks. And that's not how we're supposed to feel.
Scott was alright..nothing really special tbh. Tbh, because of Yasmine..he had to apologize for so many things! It was just awkward. He always thinks he's done something wrong (jumping to conclusions again) and it get down right annoying! Sometimes I really just wanted to pull my hair out!
I actually did like the story-line (even though it was obvious what was going to happen) but it just wasn't executed well. The writing felt so unnatural, I know I keep saying this but it was so AWKWARD! I ended up skimming the rest of the book. It didn't flow well and the talking wasn't normal- like how people talk in real life. I just kept cringing at how awkward some things were.
And also the sex scenes. They were the most awkward. There was sooo much talking. Like there first time together was just ughhh! It really ruined the mood of things. Like realistically.. who has time during sex for a WHOLE paragraph? Like they literally talk through what they're going to do..and not in a hot way. It seemed almost clinical- like step one; do this. Step two; do this. It's too much.
So this book was a MAJOR cheese fest! I was literally cringing throughout everything. I just couldn't finish it. I'm sorry, I know this review was really negative but for those people who like like Cheese..this is the book for you.
Disclaimer: I know Crystal and was lucky enough to read the book before it was released on the web.
I'm also not the biggest NA fan. My only venture to the world of NA include entirely of recommendations from Crystal Perkins. I assure you she knows a lot about NA. She reads tons. She's got this, people.
So the book- it's good. It's actually really good if you're into your romance books and your steamy love scenes and really cute encounters between your main characters when they're not in the bedroom. Scott and Yasmin's relationship progresses from first glance to first lust to love with some pens thrown in. It's not insta love it's insta lust. But Yasmin doesn't give into that at first. She's a good heroine. Her man's got some issues (and so does she, naturally) and they progress and come to the books main conflict and you feel for them because you want them to be together. They're just so cute. You want Scott to get his happy ending since he was so torn apart by a girl. You want him to love again. By the time everything clears up and Yasmin's in her dress... I thought that was the coolest thing ever.
And anyway? You'll never look at game controllers the same way again
I promise.
Keep a look out for book 2 which I've already seen because if you like them steamy- I promise you this one kicks it up a notch.
Perkins weaves a story full of heart, and sensuality. Indie bookstore owner Yasmin and computer genius Scott have such strong chemistry! As hot as Scott is I adore how Yasmin responds to him. If you like super hot guys, a strong female protagonist, and steamy love scenes this book is totally for you! I can't wait to see what Perkins has in store for the rest of the books in The Griffin Brother series!
A few things you need to know about me: 1) I worked at a bookstore for YEARS. (Favorite job EVER!) 2) I adore pens. 3) Nerds ALWAYS do it better.
With this information, you will understand why I truly enjoyed this NA book. Crystal pens (PUN INTENDED) a fun look into a billionaire type romance. Instantly, Scott and Yas disliked each other, and yet the attraction was their from the start. "And sweet Jesus, that mouth. Lush, sexy lips that seem set in a permanent smirk meant to drive a woman wild." As I dive deeper into my romance genre adventure, I learn this is my favorite type - Enemies to lovers. "Crazy pen loving bookworm," he mumbles while slamming down the pen and storming out the door. Both of them yearned for something the other could offer. I can't explain the instant connection I have with this family. Well, except for the connection with Scott. That is easily explained as pure lust at first sight. Until he opened his sexy mouth. Then it was irritation at first sight.
"I don't like you either so I guess we're on the same page."
This book is filled with everything you desire in a NA book: Lust, young love, bumps in the road to your HEA, and all that angst you feel in your 20's when the world seems TOO big for you to handle and tattoos!
My favorite part was the leading lady being so similar to myself. Not a size 2, book loving gal who loves her share of book boyfriends. "Don't be embarrassed. Tell me what those book boys do to drive you ladies wild." Then you have Scott who plays to her desires on so many different levels. Gestures as grand as buying her the moon to a simple as a bouquet full of pens he collected during their time in Chicago. "And you with your glasses on, too? I am swooning right now. Oh shit, did I just say that out loud?"
Overall, this story has strong story lines and great messages of family, self-image and love throughout the entire novel. This is not just a romance, which I think is the appeal of this new genre, NA. At this age, you are finding yourself on a level that is overwhelming and it seems like you will never get through it. A wonderful first book from a talented Crystal Perkins. I am looking forward to diving into the rest of the Griffin boys stories. I love when a first book has such strong supporting characters that you are eager for the author to pen each of their stories! My final quote from this book is my favorite tat of Scott's: "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." - Martin Luther King, Jr
Gaming for Love by Crystal Perkins was a sweet and steamy love story. This is the first book in the Griffin Brothers Series. This series is about four brothers and is based in Las Vegas, NV. It isn't very often that you get a story that is this steamy and the guy is so sweet, is a winner in my book.
The two main characters are Yasmin and Scott. Perkins does a great job describing our leading characters and layering their personality. She has woven together a truly believable story, which again is a winner for me. I love that they had regular jobs and they had to work. They had their problems and insecurities. Perkins gave us more ordinary people and made a beautiful story about them.
This is a story about learning to trust again and learning to love again. In real life, it is sometimes so hard to tear down those walls we built up to protect ourselves. This is what it was like for Scott in this book, he was so afraid to let go completely. He has such a good reason for this, but can't even share that with Yas.
Yas has suffered terrible loss in her life and feels like she will never have anyone there again. Scott makes her feel like a woman again. He pays attention to her likes and sends her unusual presents that really makes her day.
If you want a story that is more realistic, but still very hot and has plenty of kinky naughtiness... then I suggest you give Gaming for Love a try. This book was a great change from your normal hot romance read, it gives you a little more hope that things like could really happen for me and you!
I give Gaming for Love 4 platypires Bama Love!! Roll Tide!! and Keep Reading Y'all
Being completely jealous of the heroine in the book has not helped me in the slightest at all with this. It was like she had everything i wanted, she had my job, she had my addiction to pens, she could scrapbook and when her bedroom was being described I wanted to scream as that was my perfect room all laid out on the pages. This was written with me in mind.
The first from Crystal and I think a great debut. The groundwork has been laid for this great family. I enjoy a series where the whole family gets involved and we get to know each of the characters, in this case, mainly a whole heap of hunks!
I enjoyed the story, there is drama, sexual chemistry, they do get hot and steamy! I did think they were younger than they were, but I think that is circumstance and background situations. They have each been through quite a bit before meeting each each other.
Yasmin and Scott definitely had a lot to work out in this book. Scott is unable to trust almost anyone after what his ex Amber put him and his family through. Yasmin is struggling to keep the bookstore that he parents owned prior to their deaths afloat. Both Scott and Yasmin pursue a relationship and, after a huge misunderstanding, find their way to move forward. Overall a decent book and a nice ending. Will read book 2 and see a continuation of all of the characters in this book.
The Griffin family is pretty awesome. I just love Scott and Yasmin as a couple. They each have insecurities that they are working on but their personalities help balance the other. This was a sweet, sexy, little love story!
MCs are immature and I don't get the attraction between them. His repetative guilt show is overdone already... his ENTIRE family has said he's not to blame.. get over it buddy! Move on! I'm sick of hearing about your guilt and now don't give a shit about why you even feel that way!
Can totally already see what the big blowup is going to be... Scott's writing a program yeah? Yasmin's friend wants her to look into a knew technology due out in two months for her bookshop, he has a two month deadline... coincidence? Think not! He's already gone troppo at her for sneaking a peak in his work room, she's carrying around some info about the tech in her purse... am I wrong?!? Know what? I don't even care...
Their bizarre convo pre-sex for the first time is just weird! Well, I'm assuming it's pre their first time, I have no interest in finding out if they do it or not.
This is Scott's and Yasmin's story. They are both young, with a great number of responsibilities and they are both trying to overcome difficult situations. When they meet its instant attraction, but hopefully their story is developed in a way that we grow to care about them.
The strength of this book comes from the development of their love story. Crystal Perkins did something really clever and that was getting us invested in their story before the drama between them explodes. Because, let's be fair! What was going to cause the drama and how childish it was going to be was easy to spot from the very beginning.
Another thing I really liked were the secondary characters. Scott's family was very supportive (even when they thought he may be wrong) and Yasmin's friends were supportive without trying to meddle all the time.
The weakest link? From my point of view there were 2: the source of the drama and some traits from Yasmin's personality. As one other reviewer said she is kind of awkward. She cries over nothing (even in front of people she has just met), she needs reassurance every 2 chapters and she seems to have body image issues that no one seems to understand (not the other characters, not myself).
I must say i am really looking forward to read the next book of the series.
I loved the Griffins. I love story's about close families. Having hunky guys doesn't hurt lol as I was reading this I knew where it was going to go and I can't count how many times I shook my book at both Scott and Yas. She should have just looked at the article. But it shows how life is all just timing. When Scott yelled at Yas my heart broke. He was pretty nasty and the family just took his side which I get. But I wouldn't have been able to forgive as well as Yas did. The story went together nicely and the pace was fitting for the story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I liked this this book, I would give it 3.5 stars. The story between Yas and Scott kept my interest. I found myself wanting to know the outcome of their story. What I really liked was Scott's family. I thought his brothers were pretty funny and cool, so I am excited to read more about them in the next books. The only reason it wasn't a 4 star for me, was Yas. I found at times she just wasn't believable and a little too pouty about certain things Scott said or did. Scotts story was great and so was his hotness. . I will be reading the next books in this series.
Within the first 50 pages I feel in love with the characters. Yasmin is a young woman going through some major issues most people her age do not have to deal with and she still stands strong. Scott is a wonderful man, with an equally wonderful family, who has a bit of a troubled past. Together they set off on a brilliant love story full of pens and love letters.
I really enjoyed reading the book. So many hot scenes from the main characters. I like how the story gives a kind of message on how family are very important and you can always count on them during your ups and downs. Added bonus are the other Griffin brothers. Looking forward to reading their stories also.
PS. I also like pens with different design , colors and glitter pens :D
Thank you Crystal for bringing this book to us. I got hooked early on and stayed up way to late reading. Finished it in one day and am so excited to start the second book. It's taken me a few months to get through to this one on my TBR list, but I'm glad I waited cause now I can pick up the rest of the series that I don't already have. Thanks again for the amazing prize pack. Love the pens throughout the book, it's such a cute little touch.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm not just saying that because I know Crystal. I love books that are set in Vegas and it's even better when it's done by someone that knows Vegas. I connected with the characters through the book and it brought out emotions when I didn't know which way the book was going to go. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I have been privileged to read an advance reading copy of this book. For a new aspiring author, this New Adult contemporary romance is written nicely. The flow of the story develops continually. It's the kind of ChickLit that you will want to situate yourself in a comfy reading area with popcorn and soda beside you, because you won't want to put it down.
Okay, so there were plenty of eye rolling moments in this book, and parts where I just wanted to throw it down and stomp on it. But overall? I really liked it. It was a little sappy at times. Honestly, I felt like the climax came REALLY late in the book, so I got kind of bored waiting for it to all unwind. Having said that, I'm still going to read book two.
I adored this book. It was a quick, easy and enjoyable read. I quickly fell in love with the characters Yasmin and Scott. The family dynamic behind Scott was fantastic and were equally as captivating. That makes me excited to read all the books in the Griffin Brothers series.
There was some steamy scenes in here! Some parts of the story were certainly predictable but no less enjoyable.
Sexy bookstore owner meets tech geek. Yasmin, a struggling small business owner of a bookstore meets Scott a computer genius geek when he drops off his niece at her bookstore. The sparks are there but he tries to stay away since he has been burned by love once before. But they cannot deny the attraction any longer.
Gaming for Love is a wonderful sexy romance. A story of a young woman striving to keep her Indie Bookstore in business and a man struggling with a devastating betrayal. Together they will overcome guilt, anger, distrust and find love. An emotional read at times but an enjoyable one.
I received a copy of this for an honest review. I loved this book. There was a lot of emotion and sexiness throughout this book. The characters are easy to relate to. I can't wait to read the next one.
Loved this book. The story was moving a both the Yas and Scott had great back stories that you just wanted to reach in and help them. Can't wait to read the next Griffin Brothers story. Such a warm moving story.
