Alexandria Greyson always wanted a normal life. Something that became a lot harder to do once she accepted her birthright. Now that she has her brother and best friend back, she’s hoping that she and Sam can finally settle down and start a family. Unfortunately, trouble has been brewing beyond the veil and all too soon they have their hands full dealing with dragon politics as well as the ire of the Fates.
Now Fairytales are beginning to bleed over into the real world, and with ancient curses set free upon the unsuspecting public, the Godmothers have become more essential than ever before. Unfortunately someone, or something, is picking them off one by one and not even Mal the Magnificent is safe. From a Giant searching for his goose to a pair of glass slippers with a bloody history, evil stepmothers and big bad wolves never looked so good.
I liked it, but from about the middle to the end, it felt like a lot of things were skipped or forgotten. For instance, Alex was told that Zaran would be holding a reception for her, Sam, and the baby and that he would have them collected so that they would attend. I don't know if Zaran died before he could make that happen, but it just kinda faded into nothingness. Also, I would have liked to see what happened to Malificent when she woke up...what was going through her mind?.
Lastly, there were places where the narrative changed to third person without purpose and, seemingly, more word errors than in the previous two books.
The third and last book in the series THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL.
If you read the previous two books, you will definitely not like this one because I am. The characters ate the same, no new fairytale creatures to be saved by our beloved fairy godmother, Malifecient. Instead, she is the one who needs help.
On the other hand, Alex and Sam are having a baby, but she won't live that long according to the dragon healer as a tumour been passed down to her from daddy.
Rachel and Chris got hitched up, and all of a sudden became useless friend especially Rachel. After what happened she just stopped speaking to Alex which sucks. I was annoyed as a reader. Is because she is the daughter of your enemy doesn't mean you can just put her aside when she was the one helped you in the first place.
Yes, I was annoyed reading the book. Storyline sucks and the same problem I complained the last previous books. There was part that has been skipped, ignored, lack of information. The story has been rushed again until the end. It could be good you know. The only part I'm just happy about it is it is finished, and it was short, so it was easy to read. I am not horrible here as a reviewer, but I feel like no one proofread this series.
The reason I finish the series is that I was expecting something good. I like the first book, but it looks like nothing progressed in the storyline. The idea of the characters are good, but the storyline didn't give justice to it. There was not enough description or story about the main villain; he just died from Sam's "hellfire." If they can destroy him, that easily why not just made Alex mother the main evil villain, isn't? She did more horrible things to them and apparently got motives for being one.
Adrianne Brooks is a brilliant writer and her books the fairest of them all is no exception with her unique twist on fairy tales and mythological deities in this book Alex and Sam are back in this book along with Chris and Rachel Mal the magnificent is in trouble and it is up t Alex to figure out how to save her while keeping a secret of her own from her mother she and Sam are now together and it is three months later she has to keep her promise to train as a widow and this seems to be keeping Chris and Rachel distant will she be able to pull her family and friends together and still save Mal only time will tell I do hope she turns this storyline into a series and continues the story I'd love to see more of Alex and sam
Yes, To The Fairest is a fairy tale. No, To The Fairest is not a sparkly, bluebird singing, gentle forest creature romp. This book has sex, bad language, enough grimness to give the Grimm Bros nightmares, mayhem, madness, and evil. To the Fairest has Alex in all her snarky, caring glory, and a dragon, a frog prince, the Fates, several damsels in distress, and a whole lot of bad guys. I love this book. Unfortunately, To The Fairest would benefit from a little editing to help continuity and clarity, but I still love it.
The third and final installment of this trilogy was just as well thought out, well written, exciting and engaging as the previous two. I am very sad to see this line of stories ended as I would greedily gobble up many more of the authors take on twisted fairy tales. The fairy tales could continue with alternate characters that were introduced in this story, I can only hope the Ms. Brooks thinks so too and decides to write more. In the meantime I believe I will be checking out other things she has written because her overall writing style and plot execution is simply wonderful.
I was a little skeptical at first but this story was really good. I liked the twist on the characters from fairytales. This was a great spin to the old stories. all and all a great job by the author.
I read this book over a year ago. I actually forgot the story. I just finished rereading the entire thing. It was good. I haven't read a fantasy this filled with twists in a while. It kept me guessing. The one thing that annoyed me was Alex's refusal to accept her portion of the blame. It took the visit to the goddesses to even introduce the idea to her. All in all, very good tale.
