Augustine: The Truth Seeker

Rate this book
Although his mother was a faithful Christian, Augustine managed to stray into a sinful life. His life changed when he realised the truth of the Gospel. Augustine became a bishop and a tower of faith in the early church. His life is a glimpse into the days of Roman Africa and a powerful picture of the wisdom and durability of God's Word in a pagan culture.

Second of this series I've read. Fictionalized biographies of famous Christians primarily for teens. Provide a good introduction for adults too.

A brief and great overview of Augustine’s life! It is written for young people, but I definitely learned a lot!

A brief overview of St. Augustine, easy for children to read also. Simple language but a profound life that changed the world of the time. Inspired me to seek out my worldview more closely.

A decent biography of Augustine told in narrative form for kids ages 10 and up. A good amount of detail that I found informative but not dry (although the portion of the book when Augustine is an adult and dealing with church politics and theological heresies might feel "boring" to young readers).
I would recommend this as a read-aloud and not for independent reading, as the book does not shy away from Augustine's sexual sins (references to "getting involved with girls" and his many "love affairs", as well as the fact that he moves in with a girl and has a son with her, also his mother advises him not to "have sex" before marriage).

You know what, given the life of augustin, this seems to be an excellent take on the topic, a good read and sensitively handled. No notes for what it is, highly recommend for anyone wanting a brief, cold friendly, easy to read slightly fictionalised (not fiction, just some conversations that are probably simplified) biography of the life of augustin. That may well not be what you want, and then you should probably read something else...
