4 - ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ ============ I followed the book in every chapter on wattpad and was happy to hear that it was published. The story is interesting and holds the reader's attention.
I’m going with 2.5 🌟 rounded up. This feels like a first novel or at least an early work in an author’s career. The story has good bones, especially if a reader enjoys a cheating trope, which I certainly do! My issues feel pretty nitpicky: waaaaaay too many friends/other characters getting page time that doesn’t impact the story. Also, lots of writing about meals and outfits that also doesn’t advance the plot. Those distractions bore me and I considered DNF but persevered. Finally, this is essentially a clean story and any sexy time is fade to black. I hope the author continues to write…and maybe involves a great editor who can help with those rookie mistakes.
Struggled to finish this book. While the bones of the story were interesting and the plot had potential the overall book was subpar. The writing style was very hard going and the characters were very one dimensional. The good guys were good and the bad guys bad with no grey. Maybe others will disagree. On the plus side there’s no grammatical errors and the story does flow if rather stilted.
I thought the book was a second chance romance while in fact it was more of a second chance at love romance. The book was ok although not enough was done on the marriage ending. I didn’t really feel the pain of people shattered by betrayal. What really annoyed me though was the lack of description of the characters. It made it impossible for me to visualize them.
Took a chance and I have to say I enjoyed the story. However, some of the writing could be improved, using I’m and I’ll instead of the long drawn out “I will see you” or “I am going to etc” is a more normal phrase as it seemed unfortunately almost child like writing. That aside I liked the story and the characters were well defined. I will buy the next book and I think this author will do really in the future.
This was a great book and easy to read. It shows how vigilant you have to be to preserve your relationship and how someone with bad intentions can destroy your world. I almost felt sorry for the ex but it was own fault for not cherishing what he had. I’m really happy Harper found Miles and lived happily ever after!
The characters are well developed with enough information for the reader to understand the characters. I am a picky reader. A book must hold my attention, flow seamlessly, and have dual POV. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Congratulations Ms Hilton on fantastic debut.
Ummm… This didn’t hit any notes for me. The writing is stilted and the dialogue stale. I imagine some of this was written by AI. I don’t mind authors using AI. It’s a tool, but the term “soulless” comes to mind. This story has a lot of written words, but lacks emotional depth for scenes that should resonate.
Great book read it twice already. Awesome job author. This is a book you wont be able to put down. I give it a 10 out of 5 so you know its a good book. I hope to read more of your work.
Clean romance. 😬 Yack. Wish I had known going in. That said, my rating isn’t because of that and doesn’t reflect it.
My rating is simply because none of the characters have any personality and the writing was somewhat clunky. Everything was very surface level with no real depth to the characters.
Cheating husband caught. Believe this used to be on WP. I liked the premise. h finds out H is cheating moves on and finds a new H but it read very, very YA and was unpolished. There was a HEA so I was bummed that now it’s turned into a duet with more drama.
Lessons learned. Sometimes too late. For Ethan it was too late. Selfishness cost him everything. Miles though, was everything Harper needed. What a great book.
