My men cannot protect me against the growing forces of enemy dragons, not without help…
Evander, Aydan, and Granger want to believe that the strength of their will alone will keep me safe, but we’ve already seen that’s not true. The enemy dragons are powerful. Maybe even more powerful than us. If we want to survive, we need to make allies with some of the other dragons.
Even though it’ll be a risk.
When our paths cross with an ice dragon, he’s willing to help us. Not only by protecting me, but by teaching us how to protect ourselves against the other dragons. His only demand? That I become his mate too.
Choices will need to be made. Choices to ensure the safety of all of us. But more than that, we need to find another dragon. A storm dragon. Only then will we be powerful enough to defeat our enemies.
But what if we find the storm dragon, and he’s not what we expected?

Surge of Ice by Lacey Carter Andersen is book three in the Dragon Bonds Series. After reading the previous books in the series my curiosity kept growing. I was looking forward to this book and learning more about the next dragon and where the story would go. I will mention that these books aren’t standalones and must be read in order. That being said I finished the book in about a day or so and I highly enjoyed the spin of Zane. I thought it was such an intriguing idea of having a two Millennial dragon wake up in a completely different world he’s used to. Having him have knowledge of dragons but having him adjust to the world he just awoke in was a very interesting read. Plus it was a cool dynamics switch from the others who are more possessive. I liked that characters are finally starting to get along such as Evander and Ayden. I also liked that the bonds and relationships were getting closer. But I must say my favorite part of this had to be Zane learning about technology; it added such humor to this book. I laughed out loud at parts, especially the whole clothes bit. There's more than just humor here… there’s still the action, mystery and suspense as well. Overall I thought it was written well and I think this book has taken to being my favorite so far. I will warn you though that this book does end in a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to the next book and dragon that’s introduced while hoping Samantha and her men get a happily ever after. Would totally recommend if you love dragons and a paranormal/fantasy why choose romance.
Surge of Fire has to be one of the steamiest LCA books I've read. No wonder with three alpha dragon shifters. Zane is the newest addition, and I love him so much. The man is so chill, adorable, and beyond sweet. He's just so lovable. I want to protect him from everyone, including Ayden and Evander. Normally I love possessive guys, but not so much when it's messing with the vibe of the harem. I'm a bit surprised by the way Sam handled the situation. She lets her feistier side come out in the wrong moments.
I enjoyed the plot. Now that Zane's part of the group, there are finally answers about the sleeping dragons and how the dragon cycle works. Lacey created a unique situation that is only getting more interesting by the moment. She did drop a mini bomb that I am very curious about, but I don't think the idea will develop further. Sam's and the guys' story isn't over yet. Surge of Ice ended in a cliffhanger that I'm not too worried about, in fact, it makes me that much more excited for Surge of Storms.
Surge of Ice continues Sam’s story along with her dragon men. Things are still tense between Evander and Aydan. Yes, the posturing and ego bloating continues. LOL! But then...the blue dragon from the last book makes his reappearance...after a rather...steamy night between all Sam and both her men. Yum! But now, it seems that Aydan and Evander have chosen to join forces against...Zane. Cue eye roll. LOL! This book is a roller coaster of emotions (mostly male). It gets exhausting honestly, but I keep waiting for Sam to take the guys in hand already...no, not that way. She does that way enough. LOL! I mean, bring them to heel and remind them whose in control. I absolutely love Zane. He is sweet, confident, patient and very cool (chill and cool). LOL! Not exactly a fan of him being more “submissive” to the two hot heads, but he keeps the peace, so I love him even more. Prepare for an ending that is...predictable, but it sets the stage for the final dragon.
One more dragon in the pack and infinitely more stress and tension. Sam has another mate, and this one actually understands what it means to be a dragon. But can he teach them all they need to know in time? More action and shenanigans await. And so much more spice. That ending has completely and utterly stolen all the thoughts (and sense) from my head. I know what I want it to mean, but it’s killing me just a little that I have to wait for the next book to find out if I’ll be right. I guess this just means that I have even more incentive to be first in line to get my hands on book four as soon as it’s available. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Surge of Ice is the 3rd book in the Dragon bonds series and Sam (FMC) is still trying to keep herself out of the clutches of the other dragons that are after her. Aydan and Evander are constantly trying to get one over on the other one which was kinda of funny especially when Ice Dragon - Zane rocks up. Who is the completely the opposite of them by being easy going and that winds them both up throughout this book. That cliff-hanger ending had me nearly drop kicking my Kindle I was so upset by it. I'll be on tenterhooks until the next book comes out now. This is a cracking series though and I'm loving reading it.
I enjoyed this book but it didn’t grab my attention like some other series have. There’s knots, hot and passionate sexy scenes, high anxiety moments, and down easy fluff filler stuff. I mean the world has dragons now. I maybe feel like it’s not as beleivable as some other series. Some things were missing where I feel really could have impacted the story and made it more believable.
Surge of Ice by Lacey Carter Anderson is an exhilarating, spicy science fiction/paranormal romance that delivers everything you want in a why-choose dragon tale. Book 3 in the Dragon Bonds series picks up seamlessly from Book 2, immersing you deeper into the story. Samantha has now bonded with two awakened (reborn human) dragons, but an enthralling twist awaits as more sleeping (born) dragons seek her out as their mate. As they come seeking her, the dragon pack must turn to a new dragon who hasn’t yet aligned with them. Can they protect Sam from those determined to claim her, or is she destined for captivity, risking her newfound freedom and love?
I am wholeheartedly invested in this series! I can barely contain my excitement for the next book; I devour each installment, eager to uncover what unfolds next. The characters are fantastic—especially Zane. His easygoing nature, transparency, and sincerity make him utterly relatable and enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the deeper dive into dragon history in this installment. Plus, the spice factor is off the charts!
This series is perfectly crafted for binge-reading, allowing you to finish a book in just one to two days. If you crave shifter romances that weave together elements of paranormal and science fiction, this is the ideal series for you. With fated mates, scent matching, dragon shifters, a friends-to-lovers dynamic, knotting, thrilling action, and a harem-building adventure that will leave you breathless, each book is packed with enough heat to have your heart racing and your imagination soaring. It features remarkable world-building that will have you eagerly checking for any signs of dragons in your vicinity!
So this is the third installment and I am so invested in this story.
Aydan and Evander finally begin to accept each other as they have a shared goal. To keep Zane, the Ice Dragon away from Sam. The problem is he claims to also be her mate and we all know those dragon mate urges will not be denied!
I really like Zane. As an Ice Dragon he is cool and calm, unlike Aydan and Evander who as Fire Dragons are hot headed and possessive. His early interactions are quite comical as he has been sleeping for almost 2 thousand years so has difficulty in navigating this new world that has evolved so much during his sleeping years. Evander and Aydan also had their humourous moments, I particularly liked one scene where Evander was speaking to the public and used Aydan in a demonstration. I think these two might be starting to become friends! I also liked the little mention of a book that Sam was reading. If you are familiar with this author the description of that book does sound a little familiar! Granger is starting to feel sidelined a little. As a human and not a dragon he is obviously left out of some things, such as training how to be a dragon and mate bonding with Sam. He is still very important to her and I have a feeling he is going to feature more in the next book. I really hope he does, all arrows are pointing to something and I really hope it does happen!
Cliff hanger ending, but did we really expect anything less? I really am so impatient for the next book, i need to know what happens so badly!
Samantha is still in danger; the guys and her decide to seek out the ice dragon Zane. He was woke up after sleeping for 2000 years. He knows that he is supposed to be apart of Samantha's Harem with Ayden, Evander, himself and a missing dragon known as the Storm Dragon. They learn that the other dragons that have been around are terrorizing many of the towns in the surrounding area to Evander's facility. Ayden and Evander are finally learning to get a long together which is a relief to Sam however, she struggles when Zane wants to claim her as his mate as well. Samantha and Zane go on a secret mission to rescue Sam's friend Dahlia who is hiding out in a restaurant across town. While they are fighting people who have gone crazy with riots and looting; Zane finds a cat and declares that he's going to take it home and isn't worried about how it scratches at him. When they get back to base with Dahlia, they are met by the boys including Granger. As they get medical support for Dahlia, they work on getting Zane settled in and start to catch him up on everything he's missed technology wise including, lights, cars, planes, ships, elevators and key cards.
With he information Zane has provided about the dragons who are attacking humans; can they become strong enough together to fight against these rogue dragons? Can they learn to work together as a team? What will happen between Zane and Samantha?
Book 3 in the Dragon Bonds series, and you do need to have read the previous books first.
Sam, Evander, and Ayden are bonded, but the guys are still acting like teenagers, trying to one up each other and spend more time with Sam than the other. To be honest, it really got on my nerves after a while - they are supposed to be intelligent adults but are acting like children. If it wasn't for the bond, I really don't think Sam would have put up with their behaviour. So when Zane the ice dragon makes an appearance, he is a breath of fresh air, a dragon that is laid back and doesn’t get overly jealous - and he has a ton of information to share with everyone. He is the calm to the fire dragons' temper. I really liked his character along with Granger, who seems to have been left on the sidelines.
There is still a lot of n@ked time between her dragon mates, not as much as book 2 but still a lot. This is the only area where Ayden and Evander are starting to learn to share. For me, the s3x is far too linked to the pull of the bonds. It doesn't feel natural, more that they have to do it rather than wanting to do it.
With the cliffhnager, I am actually really looking forward to book 4, I think this will finally slot into place, and hopefully, they can all work as a team with all the in-fighting.
I love the complexity we’re learning there is with different types of dragons, and how their personalities match with the type of dragon they are. Like how Ayden, Evander, and Sam are all fire dragons, and they are feisty, hot headed, and quick to anger. However with Zane we can see that Ice dragons are laid back, casual, and pretty chill. 😏. The Dynamic has shifted rather quickly, but seeing Ayden and Evander work together, as a united front, has definitely made Sam’s nerves relax. It’s given her some hope that this can work out and everyone can get along. I like that the author based the dragons reactions, temperament with actual “animal” instincts. Their dragons know they are mates, and the tension, anger, and competitiveness is completely dismissed by their dragons allowing them to work together easily and get along like a cohesive unit. This book has plenty of steam, and also plenty of story. I did enjoy when they were at school and genuinely enjoying learning and passionate about what they were doing. Part of me really hopes that they get to continue/finish and go into fields that correlate to their passions. Especially with the reveal Zane gives us on the ways to keep Sam safe from the dragons looking for her. I am SO excited for the next book, and can’t wait to see how Sam’s relationships blossom, and who her storm dragon is. 😏😉

Q͟u͟i͟c͟k͟ T͟h͟o͟u͟g͟h͟t͟s͟:
This series just keeps getting better and better. I was so excited to meet the new character in this book (he's ADORABLE) 😍 and I've also been very patiently waiting for a POV that I'm really hoping will happen in the next book. Speaking of which, that cliffhanger??!! Watch out for that one! 👀 The Dragon Pack gets even more tight knit (real close IYKYK) and Evander gets to show off his money a bit more. And just when you thought Ayden and the group couldn't get more sweet, in comes some sugar (quoted above) 🥰 Lacey also always has some great commentary on the women's perspective and I added one of my fave quotes above as well. 👏 I am so ready for the next and possibly the conclusion of the series!! 🙌
I honestly don't know how this series has so many 4-5 star reviews!! The whole premise of the story is that the female dragon, Sam, has to be constantly "mating" the dragons in her harem to keep the other bad dragons from kidnapping her, ripping her wings off, and raping her until she gets pregnant. Sam can't even say no to sex with her harem because she has to constantly be scented by them to hide her scent. This has been her life through several reincarnations, I guess. Now you tell me, how is this in any way romantic? I have to admit that, while I don't care how much sex a character has, I have a really hard time with the concept that she has no choice. Yes, the author makes it her dragon's biological "need" or "want" that forces Sam to constantly mate. But it does not change that she is forced to, whether by her body's physiology, or the fact that she doesn't want to be kidnapped and raped. Then, to top it all off, she has to get pregnant in order for it to stop! I just can't get over the despair of her situation, and it's from reincarnation to reincarnation. It's NOT romantic. It's NOT sexy. I don't care how hot the guys are. I don't care if they're nice. She is FORCED to have sex at minimum every 12 hours. It's wrong. I hate the premise of this series. I'll finish reading the series, but I don't like it.
This is the third book in the “Dragon Bonds” series, which I believe might be the series with the most reluctant men in sharing in the entire universe. This book finally starts changing things in their dynamic, even though they fight every development tooth and nail. Honestly, if there wasn’t a fated mates dynamic going on, I think she would have ditched these men a long time ago. Where I loved the conflict and possessivness at the start, I’m starting to share some frustrations about it with Samantha, but luckily our new man Zane manages to balance some things out.
This third book wasn’t my favorite in the series so far, because it suffers a little from middle book syndrome where certain things sometimes linger a little too long. Still, I love this series as a whole, and I see the build-up towards a fourth book that has all the potential to be fantastic. The ending of this book isn’t all that susprising, but I can’t wait to see what it will mean for book four and the dynamic between all these characters. I’ll definitely keep on recommending this series, especially if you love your why choose stories spicy!
One more dragon in the pack, and with him, a whole lot more stress and tension! Sam has gained another mate, and this one truly understands what it means to be a dragon. Aydan and Evander are constantly trying to outdo each other, which leads to some hilarious moments—especially when Zane, the Ice Dragon, enters the scene. Zane is the complete opposite of them, with his easygoing nature, and it drives both Aydan and Evander wild throughout the book.
But my favorite part? Zane's complete aversion to clothes and his humorous comment about covering his toes. He's just so sweet, like he's dripping in honey. While I still love Sam's other mates, there’s something uniquely charming about Zane. His lack of a filter is both hilarious and endearing. He speaks his mind with an adorable innocence, yet there’s so much spice lurking underneath.
The cliffhanger at the end definitely left me craving more, and I can't wait to see what happens next in book four—especially when it comes to one particular pack member! As always, this review is completely voluntary. I have received no compensation, and the opinions I’ve shared are entirely my own.
I loved this 3rd book in the Dragon Bonds series. In every book, things escalate, and I am REALLY, REALLY hoping that with the ending of this book, that the next one has one of Sam’s other besties turning to a dragon!
This one focuses on finding the blue dragon – which ends up being Zane who, unlike the others that reincarnate, is one of the few dragons who sleeps in between finding his pack every time and is an ice dragon. When he feels Sam in the water, he wakes up determined to find her. When he finally does find her, Evander and Ayden, the boys are wholly against her bonding with Zane. But regardless, she is drawn to him, and he is able to help the pack learn how to actually BE a dragon and fight like one. He also gives them the history of how they have been a pack during every reincarnation – but normally its every couple hundreds of years – not the 2 thousand that happened this time.
They are trying to track the other dragons and figure out how to take them down, but its proving to be hard and very dangerous.
I love how each of the characters in this book have grown so much, and I really really hope that Granger is next!
Her harem grows and I loved it! But OMG, the cliffhanger! There were so many hints, but I will just have to wait to see with book four if my suspicions are correct. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Book three! I love Zane! He adds so much humor to this book with his confusion of technology and societal norms. Things have definitely changed in the last 2,000 years. Laughed several times with his reactions to things like the security camera, elevator, cars, and so much more. But my favorite was his aversion to clothes and his comment about covering his toes. Zane is so sweet; he is dripping with honey. Still love her other men, but there is just something about Zane. His lack of a filter is hilarious. He just says what he is thinking. An adorable innocence but so much spice underneath. Do not get on his bad side. This book we get to know Zane and how he fits with the Dragon pack. Which leads to some fights and lots of spice. Cannot wait to see what happens in book four with Sam and and their Dragon Pack, but most of all one pack member in particular!
Book three is here, and wow—Surge of Ice was such a ride! Picking up right where the second book left off, this one dives straight into action, suspense, and all the spicy tension we’ve come to love. Samantha is still in danger, but now there’s a new twist: Zane, the ice dragon, has joined the group. Let me just say, Zane is everything I didn’t know I needed. His confusion with modern tech, lack of a filter, and hilarious aversion to clothes had me laughing so much. But underneath all that sweetness? Total fire.
The dynamic between Sam and her men keeps evolving, and it’s great to see Aydan and Evander finally start working together—although adding Zane to the mix definitely stirs the pot. The tension is so high, the steam is on point, and the growing mystery of the missing Storm Dragon has me itching for answers. And that cliffhanger? I’m not okay.
This series just keeps getting better, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Sam and her growing harem in the next book! LCA never disappoints!
As more dragons are awakening, it seems that Sam is more and more in danger, although Aydan, Granger, and Evander seem convinced they can keep her safe. However, now there seems to be another element impacting the still complicated situation - certain ice dragon, Zane, who seems to be another of Sam's mates. Ancient and full of knowledge about dragons, Zane has zero clue about the world he had awakened into, and his presence alone unites Aydan and Evander more than anything else. I really enjoy all the tension in the relationships in this series. All of the characters are thrown into unknown territory, having either no clue about how to be a dragon and accept the harem as a normal relationship where males have to share, or in case of Zane into a situation that is different to the previous lives. Especially the fire dragons are driving me crazy with their possessiveness and jealousy and I wouldn't want to be in Sam's place, trying to keep them apart and wishing for them to come to an agreement. And that cliffhanger... now I really wish for the storm dragon to surface.
I knew from the previous book that I was going to love this new ice dragon and I can absolutely confirm it. Zane is my instant favorite. He is too adorable and where I usually like a growly possessive alpha Ayden and Evander are just not doing it for me. Like I do like them but I feel like Samantha needs to put them in their place and get them over their issues. With Zane he is so clueless about the world but has so much dragon knowledge and is just wanting to get his family back together. It’s so sad that he can remember every life but the others don’t have that info so he has to do this every time. I am also excited for our next dragon reveal. I think I know who it is and can’t wait to see him be the big bad alpha of all alphas. I’m looking forward to more Zane in our next book and hopefully getting to see Sam and her guys all get a HEA. Cannot say enough how much I am really enjoying this series and would recommend it again and again
Surge of Ice is the third book in a thrilling dragon shifter romance series that takes readers on a journey of passion, discovery, and danger. The story follows a unique trio—one female and two males—whose lives are turned upside down when ancient dragon shifters awaken on Earth. Not only must they navigate the complexities of their shifting abilities, but they also face the intense, possessive personalities of their newfound dragon mates.
The romance is both steamy and suspenseful, as the characters struggle with their connection and the challenges of being with an awakened dragon. The chemistry between the leads is electric, and their interactions balance love, tension, and personal growth. The world-building adds an exciting layer of intrigue with dragons and their awakening abilities. Fans of paranormal romance with a touch of possessive, alpha personalities will find Surge of Ice a captivating addition to the series.
I was just going to start this before I went to sleep. Just one chapter… Yeah, no! I ended up finishing this captivating read in one bite. Didn’t get up for air once. Sleep can wait, right?
Zane is just the most adorable character ever! He completely stole the show. And with him moving in, Evander and Ayden finally agree on something, making the bond between them stronger. Poor poor Granger. He feels so left out. Most bigger plot developments vere fairly predictable, but this was so well written and the flow was spot on. I was down for the ride for sure! Where we are left hanging, I can see where this is going. Unless LCA decides to throw us for the most epic plot-twist ever. That could happen. What ever comes, I’m so ready for this. If you love epic PNR RH, then this is an absolute must-read. Highly recommended for lovers of dragons.
Surge of Ice is book three of the Dragon Bonds series, and picks up where book two leaves off. And let me tell you what a roller coaster this was. As usual with Lacey's writing there is plenty of action, spice and throw in some suspense. Which is what keeps me coming back to her writing.
Samantha, that girl has it rough, and is still in some danger. But we have something new, or someone new, and I am so here for Zane. I have to say it was so fun to read about him learning everything. Guess that is what happens when you have been out of it for awhile.
Love the growth with Sam and her men. That is what a series should be about, growth with the characters and their relationships. There may be some tension but I am confident Lacey will give me the ending I am needing. But the ride is so worth it.
A definite read if you are a fan of Lacey and her books, or of dragons!!
Surge of Ice is the third book of this series and it does not disappoint! Sam, the FMC is still trying to escape the other dragons but now with the help of her third mate Zane, an ice dragon. He is the exact opposite of her other two mates and is the perfect balance for them. There is the usual tension between the three guys but Ayden and Evander are starting to work together to be with Sam. Zane tells them all about their past lives they have lived together and sheds some light on how to defeat the other dragons that are after Sam and why they won't stop without help of one more mate to finish her harem. I keep hoping Granger is the fourth. I absolutely love his character and Lacey keeps dropping hints that I am eating up. The cliff-hanger had me screaming! I need the final book to know everything is ok. I highly recommend this series as Lacey never disappoints.
Surge of Ice 🧊 is book 3 in the "Dragon Bonds" series and I have to say this series has had me hooked from the very first page of book one, it's been a long time since I had a series captivate me the way this one has. I cannot wait for book 4!! Sam our sassy FMC has now acquired a third dragon to add to her protective harem and as before, the boys don't want to share, which adds more drama and tension to Sam's life and just as we thought it was starting to settle for her. Then there's Granger, her trusted human companion who starts showing some jealousy vibes. I love each and every character with their own personal quirks and traits and I commend Sam in putting up with their moody behaviours but when push comes to shove their bond is unbreakable and they would do anything for each other which is endearing.
Watch out for this one though it has quite the cliffhanger ending!! 😭
What is Samantha aka Sam to do with herself while Aydan, Evander, and Zane out to fight the rouge dragons, the brown and green ones that have been destroying buildings. As she is having a picnic with Granger trying to keep her mind off her men while they are out looking for the rouge dragons, one of the rouge dragon, a green one comes and grabs not her but Granger and she races to try and save him, at the last moment the dragon releases Granger and Sam races to try and save him as she realizes that she is not going to be able to save him. How is she to go on without him? What is she to do? What happens to Aydan, Evander, and Zane? Yes, Lacey has done it again another cliffhanger will they find the Storm Dragon the Alpha of all alpha dragons? What about the biggest rogue dragon of all time? You do need to read the books in sequence, but you will not be disappointed.
This book picks up right where book two left off. Sam has a new mate- Zane, an Ice Dragon who has been asleep the last two thousand years! I love Zane. He’s amazing and very swoon worthy. I think its adorable how he doesn’t really know what’s going on in the world now since he hasn’t been able to keep up with the times while he’s been asleep, but he’s so very chill. Literally. Unlike our other two hot head mates.
Zane knows what it means to be a dragon. (With how old he is he better!) We just need to pray he can teach the others before it’s too late. This book was definitely more stressful and had more spice (yay).
I highly recommend reading this book (and the previous two first if you haven’t already). I couldn’t out it down it was so amazing! But that cliff hanger! Ugh! I can’t wait for the next book!
