Debbie Viguié is the New York Times Bestselling author of more than three dozen novels including the Wicked series co-authored with Nancy Holder. In addition to her epic dark fantasy work Debbie also writes thrillers including The Psalm 23 Mysteries, the Kiss trilogy, and the Witch Hunt trilogy. I love the Psalm 23 Mysteries and have been a fan since I first discovered The Lord is My Shepherd. Now, after reading book #20, All the Days of My Life, I am literally waiting for my heart to calm down after all the second-hand danger from Cindy, Jeremiah, and crew. This book seemed to reveal a few secrets, but also contained a lot of thriller moments. Trust exercises done with a group who doesn’t like each other, a return to the Green Pastures camp no one wants to revisit, and more questions and cliff-hangers. Debbie Viguié is in especially rare form in this one. Don’t miss it if you’re a Psalm 23 fan! Viguié writes a variety of genres. This series fits somewhere between a cozy mystery and a thriller-chiller. Be forewarned!
The Psalm 23 Mysteries remains one of my favorite series and this latest installment is one of the reasons why. Viguie keeps you glued to the page from the beginning and never lets go until the end, which also leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the next one!
I am frustrated that the review that I entered has disappeared, and so I am typing it again. It looked like when I posted it, instead of posting, Goodreads took me to some ad and some poem, and lost the review. :(
As someone who's volunteered with youth camps for eleven years, I loved the camp setting of this book. I do realize that the setting is a repeat from an earlier book in the series, but the plot was significantly different. It did have similar elements.
I would've done all the scripted activities without hesitation (which are different than the more deadly ones.)
The escape room is ridiculous. They aren't done that way because of fire-safety hazards. Of course, several of these activities felt slightly off or odd, so maybe it was in line for this book and the rest of the series.
I loved getting to know the church staff characters better, although I'm surprised that the events of the last book didn't count as community-building.
Carl reminds me of the janitor in the Dilbert cartoons.
Unfortunately, I knew whodunit. The villain(s) seemed obvious to me. I suppose technically there could've been other suspects, but it didn't seem emotionally like it would be them.
I, for one, wanted to know what Flynn would say at the wedding when he raised his hand. It could've been something important. And yet, I think the scene was only written for laughs.
Jeremiah reassures one of the characters that he will find a spouse one day. In real life, not everyone gets a spouse.
Fans of The Psalm 23 Mysteries have waited a hot minute for this one! It did not disappoint! As exciting as all of the others in the series and just as fast-paced!
When Cindy's church decides to set the example and return to camp Green Pastures for a team-building retreat none of the staff is overly thrilled about going back there. Jeremiah is not happy that Cindy is going. Memories of his last trip there still haunt him and many others. Just as predicted things do not go well. Will they all survive or is someone of their friends destined to not make it back?
Seriously, you will not be able to put this book down. Of course you need to start at the beginning of the series to understand all of the characters. We are nearing the end and I find myself biting nails, holding my breath and praying for characters that I have come to be invested in! Eeep! What will happen next? I'm staying tuned!
I didn't want to put the book down. It seems to have ended too soon!!! I'm ready for the next book!!!
Playing the staff against each other straight through to the end, really did help them realize that they could trust each other and work together. They still each have things to work through, but now there is a basic trust.
This is the first book in the series that I read before rereading the series. I love this series. I hope the next series will be just as good.
Can't wait. For the next one-hour fully with THE wedding. I am going to start over and reread the books from the beginning while waiting g for the next book.
