Patricia Briggs was born in Butte, Montana, to a children’s librarian who passed on to her kids a love of reading and books. Patricia grew up reading fairy tales and books about horses, and later developed an interest in folklore and history. When she decided to write a book of her own, a fantasy book seemed a natural choice. Patricia graduated from Montana State University with degrees in history and German and she worked for a while as a substitute teacher. Currently, she lives in Montana with her husband, children, and six horses and writes full time, much to the delight of her fans.

Cry Wolf is Issue 3/4 of the graphic novel prequel to Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson Series starts in dramatic fashion. A cat runs into a house to escape the rogue werewolf pack who enter and slaughter the parents of the family inside. Mercy decides to make a home in the Tri Cities rather than return to her mother in Portland, her first step is to find a place to live. I have to admit even though the art is still not good, this part got me in the feels. It was a place a coyote could call home. Awww.


Patricia Briggs sure doesn't stint on the Drama in this issue. Zee is still an idiot, he FIRES Mercy, in front of Tad, to predictable consequences.


Of course, Mercy then gets kidnapped and basically emotionally blackmailed into passing on a message, and by the end I'm all kinds of depressed because Mercy has to give in and stoop to doing something menial that she hates, to pay the bills. It wasn't just Mercy's pride that hurt, but all of us readers felt for her. I really do wish the art were better to do the very emotional story justice.

I think this story is supposed to take place before the first novel, "Moon Called." Interesting thus far, yet there's another cliffhanger. Moving onto the next one.

Enjoyable graphic series prelude to the Mercy Thompson Series

I love Patricia Briggs Mercedes Thompson Series and this short run of four graphic shorts are a quick, fun lead in to that series. I am not an avid reader of graphic novels so I will bow to others' reviews, but I like the action and the pace and will keep on learning.

My first attempt to read one of these type of books on a Kindle Fire. For this one, larger is better. Can't be read on a black and white Kindle, unfortunately. I thought this four part story was well done as part of the Mercy Thompson series.
