Priest : The Consortium Book Six

Rate this book
I was dealt a bad hand. Some would've said I had it rich kid with a famous family and no worries.
But that was the surface.
I was born to be something I wasn’t, or at least wasn’t all the time. A killer with no conscience. A reaper that dealt death without blinking an eye. So I did what I had to until the day I could do what I wanted. But peace still eluded me.
And then I saw her.
Met her at her lowest and even then she was the embodiment of an answered prayer. But those who want to challenge me for my power think they will go through her to get to me. And they awakened the hell that had been slumbering peacefully for years. Being merciful doesn’t make you weak and being anointed doesn’t mean you won’t put someone down in the holiest of ways.
The one who moves in silence is often the one chosen to execute the wrath of God.

Where do I begin?

This series just keeps getting better. I loved Jahmir and Dove together. I liked that he gave her time to heal from her trauma before he made his intentions known, but when he did it was full steam ahead and their chemistry was organic.
Cardinal got what he deserved and it still wasn't enough.
There's so much to say about this book, but it's better to read it for yourself. It was like watching a movie and even though it was hard putting down, I wanted to savor the whole thing so I took my time.
I can't wait for the rest of the series.

This was another good one! Dandridge rarely misses for me personally, so I expected this to be another banger. However, much like the previous book, it didn’t leave me over the moon. Some portions hit hard, while others kind of dragged on.

The main reason this was a 3.5/4 star read for me was the length. It was LOOOOONG, and honestly, a lot of that was due to the dialogue. Baby Pastor, Priest, Jahmir—whatever he’s calling himself—could talk! Sure, some of it had him dropping jewels and spreading the gospel, but more often it felt like he was issuing warnings and threats. I appreciate that he was a patient man, but come on—less talking, more walking! By the end of the novel, he probably issued about 38,464,956 threats to Cardinal and his mother. How long do they get to play in your face before you pop them in the eye?

I do want to highlight something important: this author doesn’t treat sexual violence against women as a mere plot device or a character-building block. Even though it can be a bit tedious to read at times, it’s crucial that these issues are handled with care, allowing our female main character to work through her trauma and heal on her own. So often, authors toss in some gruesome stuff in one chapter, and just two paragraphs later, the character is magically healed, and we never hear about it again. Jada and Smoke provided the comedic relief and antics to keep me laughing.

Overall, this author is a phenomenal writer who crafts stories and interconnected worlds seamlessly. I really need all other authors creating series to follow her formula. She’s the master of breadcrumbing us about whose story is next WITHOUT overstepping or over-explaining. She always gives just the right amount of detail to intrigue you while maintaining the balance of telling the story that you’re in.Her cliffhangers are a slow and steady, sensible buildup. It’s truly a lost art, and I’m glad she’s doing it right!

Take me to Church!!

Mir was all about being a place of peace for his Dove and being all things a man of God is to his wife providing peace, safety & security and love, kindness and hot s e x on a platter to teach and to guide! Dove was about making her house and being a place of peace and love and service to her husband while showing him that love was patient & fulfilling while being nasty & sacred!! But when Mir turned into Priest & went scorched earth & burn and then salt the earth on his enemies living no stone unturned showing just because I'm kind doesn't mean I'm weak!!! And when Dove became NY, she showed she was her husbands match & rib in every way!! Meek, don't mean mild and revenge is always a dish best served cold! Slugs & Jazzy and Liam & Frankie & Jada & Smoke & some Diallos & everybody's favorite Blerd bring the laughs and the ruckus & some new twists & friends along the way! Read this book and laugh love & enjoy the ride to chuch!!

What I love about the Consortium series is Dandridge’s ability to add another layer of complexity with each book drawing the reader in even further and Preist did not disappoint. Mir and Nyima were super sweet. The level of open communication between them was a breath of fresh air since the previous book in the series had no communication. Priest himself was such a complex character and watching him battle to be the best version of himself for her despite the outside forces trying to tear them apart was interesting. Jada continued to be a favorite of mine and her inclusion in this was the comical relief needed. I can’t wait for the next book.

Poetic Justice ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️

Where do I even begin?

The melodic expression used as conversation was poetry in motion. Nyima and Priest spoke so beautifully. Their cadence was like an intimate dance one wouldn’t dare miss.

After reading the series to date, I feel like I speak fluent Gaelic 😂🤣

You tugged at my heart something heavy as it broke for Jahmir. But bay-bayyyy you put it right back together with the sermon he preached. Y’all took me to church fah real.

It goes without saying job well done!

Priest and Dove were a perfect match. I loved everything about their story - their dedication, respect, infatuation. It was amazing. The drama unfolded perfectly. It was like watching a movie. The ending was insane. There’s a lot to look forward to!

I loved Priest so much, I was really excited for his book.
I didn’t love the book itself for some reason, but I really did enjoy Priest’s and Nyima love story. One thing about Priest? He didn’t leave any room for doubt once they got together. He constantly showered Nyima with Words of affirmation and actions. I’m glad Nyima was a strong character who could hold her own down.

It's always the quiet ones ...

🪑I knew Priest was a real one when Liam "What's 'oor blood type broadsword pulling intestines out" Merrick said nah, don't upset Priest...

🪑I knew Priest was on one when Owo big self would get nervous whenever Priest got too quiet...whew, sweating bullets.

🪑I knew Priest was cray when he stood up in front of his congregation in his mega-church with his enemies in the front row and preached, "Don't test my gangsta, and this mouthfuxka ain't stopping me," using nothing but scripture.

🪑Whewww, and the dick down sessions 🔥✨ "let me get home so my wife can feed me," y'all he wasn't talking about food 😉. Jahmir was a nice quiet shift from the angst and drama of Liam's book.

It was love at first sight for Jahmir aka Mir aka Priest and he patiently waited for his Dove aka Nyima aka Ny to heal and what a pair they were. One thing Ms. Dandridge Monroe will do is layer and sneak some shots to callbacks later on without you knowing. "You can do whatever you wish for a house the one thing I ask for is that I get a shed for my woodwork." iykyk. Because 80% later that "Oh you really are just like Jesus" line that Ny aka Dove drops will have your mouth dropping.

Things start to heat up. The mystery is afoot. There is danger lurking and our Consortium dudes have to step it up even more. And Ny aka Dove Sutton is truly suited for her man. That salty dinner, wedding ring taps, and shifts 😉. Whew talk about equally yoked. And that is one beautiful thing about each of these books. The men find the perfect woman that matches their good and bad. This is definitely bloody and definitely gruesome.

Goodness & Mercy

Jahmir and Nyimah are truly two of my favorites—so calculated and meticulous. My girl did not come to play behind Jahmir. People counted her out and underestimated her, which ultimately became their downfall.

Jahmir is truly my man, my man. His rod and staff can definitely comfort me! Seeing someone so committed, obedient, and disciplined is outright sexy. Not many men possess those qualities, and it always worked in his favor. They woke Priest up when they thought he was being passive about all the transgressions being committed.

I’m ready to see how things will play out with Angel. That ending, the last supper, and that deadly sermon Jahmir preached had me ready to kiss him!

Everyone must atone for their sins 🗡️🤪

Yeah....this book didn't do it for me. It was boring as hell. Something I never thought I'd say about a Dandridge Monroe book but here we are. The problems I had were the book was slow everywhere. Grammatical errors everywhere in the book, slow unwinding plot, slow romance, slow to get to sex, slow for action and slow for revenge. Just slow on top of being very long.

While I didn't dislike Nyima at all. She's not my type of female character. She took way too long to pop off on Jahmir's parents, especially his mama, she took too long to handle up on Felicity and Faith. The way she let them talk to her crazy and the only thing she'd do is retort with a classy clapback didn't do it for me. Classy clapbacks aren't for me. Be blunt and drag that bitch for filth and then whoop her ass. She took too long doing either. Nyima had a few moments of being badass but it was far and few in-between so I wasn't satisfied.

Jahmir was probably the biggest disappointment for me. Because this is the consortium series, I thought he was going to handling things like his bros but nah. Priest is Jahmir's alter ego. Priest is the version of Jahmir that gets shit done and obliterates obstacles standing in his way. Priest is who we should've seen more of. Maybe the book would've been more interesting. Like Nyima, Jahmir was too patient and too slow to seek retribution. Again, it didn't work for me.

The dialogue I couldn't stand. The way both of the characters talked made me feel like I was reading a black romance version of a Shakespeare story or a Jane Austen novel. Everything was always poetic and full of prose. I didn't like it. I understand they were characters of the cloth but that's no reason for them to talk like they're reading lines from a Shakespearean play. Especially because this is a modern contemporary story. I wanted them to talk normally and bluntly.

Nyima and Jahmir have to be one of the most boring couples I've ever read about. This book had potential to be good. Add on Jahmir being a pastor and a killer, it had the potential to be a very entertaining and unique story but unfortunately it failed on all fronts for me. The both of them did way too much talking and not enough getting active for my tastes. Even the sex scenes weren't all that and normally Dandridge delivers on that front. This book wasn't terrible by any means but it truly was not for me. Which is disappointing because I wanted to love it but that didn't happen.

Ma'am you are a beast with your pen!! Whew.... I knew that Priest's story would be heavy, as I could feel the tension at the end of Liam's book. But chile this thang was intense, drama filled, with secrets and betrayals running rampant, then there was love.

Priest despised his parents. He only tolerated them as he felt it was his duty as a son and pastor. The things that they have done to him were horrific, especially that damn Cardinal. 😡 I held my breath the entire read waiting to find out how he would meet his demise, cause I knew he had it coming!! 🤷🏾‍♀️ Then for his momma, Chantel, to just sit back and allow all this to happen under her thumb made her just as guilty as her bum ass husband! 🤬 Priest loved his church and was trying to undo all the evils that the Cardinal had implemented. However, he was just existing until he met her. Her mere presence pulled him into her orbit before he ever laid eyes on her. She was the peace he craved, the balm to soothe all the traumas in his life. He knew she was the one! 🤩

Nyima was introduced to us at the lowest point in her life. But being rescued by the fellas of the Consortium was the catalyst to the life she deserved. Especially once she laid eyes on Priest. Although Nyiama had a lot of healing and soul searching to do, she knew one thing, she wanted Priest. So, she waited. These two were adorable, and played everything by the book, like good Christians. 😂 But honey after the wedding these two were getting it in! 🥵

Now here come the snakes, secrets, and haters. I don't want to give anything away, but there was a whoooolllleee lot going on! Through it all Priest and Nyiama's bond grew stronger, and nothing could break them. They also had a dark side to them. Hmmm..... gotta read to find out about that.

Mother Henry was one of my favorites. They way she always stood ten toes down for Nyiama, and always seemed to know the things she shouldn't about the church and all its members. 👀
That ending tho! Ughhh....... and we gotta go through Xerxes first before we dive back in? You wrong as hell for that, but I'll wait. Great read! 👍🏾👍🏾

Where do I even begin......

Born into a seemingly privileged life, a man hides his true identity as a ruthless killer, forced to live as a weapon until he can pursue freedom. Haunted by a lack of peace, his world shifts when he meets a woman who feels like an answered prayer. However, when enemies target her to challenge his power, they awaken the deadly force within him. Balancing mercy with divine vengeance, he becomes the silent enforcer of God’s wrath, ready to protect her at any cost.

Tropes
✅No 3rd act break-up
✅MMC is Pastor/Priest of the Church
✅Loves FMC like he loves the CHURCH
✅Family Betrayal
✅Insane amount of cheating (NOT MC's)
✅Incest
✅Revenge
✅MC was SA as a child
✅Healthy relationship between MC's

When I tell you this book had you laughing, wheezing, crying, shocked and stunned all throughout the entire book. Priest always got straight to the point but when it came to people betraying him, he was always a step ahead and just waiting till the right time to enact the revenge. There are so many things I could say about this guy, but I will never stop. He was patient, nurturing, lover man, obsessed with his woman, MAN OF GOD, and he was a way with words. WOWWIEEE. I also love the friend group that is in this book, they were a mice mixture of people and that made it so much more relatable and funnier.

I couldn't stop laughing at some of the comments made in book

🔷I think being side chick qualifies as having the Jezebel spirit. Since you don't think the church should be affiliated with it, remove yourself from this place and everything linked to it

🔷Who*e of Babylon, silly! And you're in wanting input on church business when you don't even know your bible. Shouldn't that be a rule?

🔷Yes dove. But see, they had a problem LOL this TikTok quote. ಥ_ಥ

🔷I would too if I had been having sexual contact with my potential father and half-brother

All I have to say is that you will fully enjoy yourself reading this book. LMAOOO

The marriage bed is not defiled…so defile me Priest!

Priest, Jahmir, sir, Pastor, Mir - he was all of them in one amazing man for only one woman. I was not ready for my deepest desire to get on my knees before and for this man! I wanted him to bless me and have his rod and staff comfort me!
Assassin, avenging angel, wrathful man, preacher, rescuer, protector, husband and loyal friend - what a wonderful gift of a man to be loved and cherished by and Nyima was the chosen one.
This book had me on the edge waiting for their enemies to be dispatched with the wrath of God. Priest had the patience of Job when it came to waiting for the right moment to act against Cardinal. Speaking of Cardinal, he was a sick, twisted, demented and selfish man.
Ny was just right for him - God created his perfect help mate and compliment.
This book had intrigue, spice, betrayal, suspense, love, secrets, revelations, friendship, jealousy, hatred, scriptures, judgment, and more!
I have never wanted to be a First Lady but I’d definitely be his!!!!!
Fantastic read!

Wilder and bumpier

Priest and Dove 🕊 are definitely made for each other. I love how Ny didn't play about him and him her. The craziness that took part and the secrets uncovered are masterful. But the wrath that their enemies received was very fitting. Priest and Ny are everything New Hope needs for a fresh start and renewing of souls and spirits, especially with the rift rafts no longer available. And Jada!! I love her so much, a constant friend indeed. She puts on the most beautiful weddings so event planning is definitely a venue she needs to start. That ending piqued my interest so I'm ready for all things dealing with the Consortium. It's getting wilder and bumpier by the book. Definitely recommend this story and series.

So Sweet

That man PRIEST!!!! 😍🥵😘 His love story with Ny was soo beautiful! Had me wishing I was Ny the way Priest was loving down on her and he did not play about us Dove!!! Mir was such a gentleman through and through but when it was time to be Priest all bets were turned off. This story had some much twist and turns and I loved it all! This was such a page turning. I hated that the mama had my name correct spelling and all and was a fool lol. Mother Henry was one of my favs, plus her little secret had my mouth hanging open literally 😯. But the way you ended on that somewhat cliffhanger wasn’t right lol. Such a great read, I couldn’t put it down.

Best book to me

I can’t rave about this book enough. Jag it was every bit of Priest he needed to be. The patients, resolve and commitment he had to his people especially his Dove. Those two were truly a match made in the church. Jada my girl Jada wasn’t for the foolishness, she really needed more time dedicated to her because she really stands out on her own in all of the books. Frankie and Dove need to be the best of friends and partners, their sweet, psycho ways will have the masses burning in all types of fire. All the characters really held their own in this book. I can’t wait for the next installment.

From the first time Priest met Ny, I had a feeling that (just like all the Consortium men before him), that he wasn't about to play any games behind her. He was ready to take on whoever got in his (or her) way. Familial ties and business ties meant nothing!

I love the land of delulu as much as the next girl, but sometimes I was side-eyeing his character being a man devoted to religion but involved in the organization he was in. Regardless, it made for a highly entertaining read. In the middle of all the chaos, Priest was determined to have some normalcy with Ny...and the highest respect when it came to her. I ate it up!

And the revenge that certain people got at the end...perfect! I'm a little sad that I'm almost caught up on the series and will soon have to wait for the next book in the series.

You know, I had mixed feelings about Priest's book coming along after Liam's. Thank goodness my feelings don't dictate the book drops 😅
Watching Jahmir's and Nyima's story unfold was so... soothing. It was like slipping into a warm bath after a long, hard day. They're so incredibly sweet to and with one another and their loved ones. As much as I love their tenderness and thorough exploration of each other (😏), I was just as excited to see them STAND ON BUSINESS!
You can't go wrong with a couple working together to bring folks closer to God and sending some to see Him on the express line.

The ride I just got off call Priest was everything!!!

From the beginning to the end I was locked in. Love at first sight, protection, devotion, secrets revealed, betrayal and the ultimate get back was all in this here book. The way Mir spoke to Ny was so poetic and endearing it melted me every time they spoke to each other. I love the way Jahmir straddled the lines between him and being Priest. And I’m ready for Bhal and Jerica’s story!!!!!

I want a Priest

The sixth installment of the Consortium series was everything. I need a pic Ms. Monroe's brain to see how she came about this book because Priest was intense, and his Dove didn't play by him. I think Chantel and the friend got off too easy, everyone else take down chef's kiss. The cliffhanger has me wanted to jump back into the previous books to see there any Easter eggs hidden; I can't wait for the rest of the installments of this series.

You do not understand. I will not be returning this book until I have the physical copy. The book was written so well, she did her big one on this book. Thank you Miss Monroe for this gem.

This book gets all the 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Once again Dandridge Monroe has woven together a storyline that pulls you in and holds you hostage until the very last word. This story is full of deceitful people that make you want to jump in the book to handle yourself, but still manages to be full of love and laughs. I love the way this author displays a strong and resilient FMC. As for Priest he is most definitely the new book bae. Can’t wait to see what comes next with the Consortium.

This book was soooo freaking good. Jada will always be my favorite dandrige Monroe character but Nyima may be a close second. The way she elgantly & classily chewed them folks out & whooped 🍑 Jahmir AKA priest did not disappoint either. He was very much so calculated in everything he did but he also made it know when it came to his wife disrespect & foolishness would not be tolerated. I loved this.

Fire and Brimstone!

Priest, said F*ck around and find out! I’m talking Saw type sh*t.

When it comes to Ny(FMC) I loved she was her true self throughout the entire book. She said a couple American phrases and tried to cook American cuisine but besides that she was rooted in her Gambian bag. When it was time to strap up her boots she did with MUCH class and integrity!

I love this couple 💜

This book has loop de loops & alley oops. It's so many moving parts and by the time things start coming together ure blown away. I always enjoy the easy banter between the couples and friends. & I DONT CARE what yawl say....I love Jada down & I'm glad she's like the welcome party for all new the new wives.

Could NOT put this down

This series is everything. This author's pen game is unmatched, and her works continue to evolve generating a must read. I could NOT put this book down inhaling this over 500 page book in two days. Nail biting, on the edge of my seat, great chemistry between the lead characters, great supporting cast and insane villians made for a great reading experience. Let me repeat, this series is everything and I can't wait to see what's next.

Priest & Dove

I love me some them. That man gave me goosebumps. The trauma and torture under the hands of Cardinal was deplorable. I’m glad Priest showed up and showed out. But let’s not forget Ny, the quiet storm. She was definitely a great match for Priest.

I believe Liam is next and I can’t wait. Great read and highly recommended.
