It’s been two weeks since Alexander broke things off with Sapphira. Realizing that he made the biggest mistake of his life, he concocts a desperate scheme to earn her forgiveness. Together again, it seems they are headed for a storybook romance.
But unknown to them, their pasts are about to converge in a way that could turn deadly. Will true love conquer all? Or will the past drive them apart for good?
Confessing Hearts is the second book in the Vacant Hearts trilogy.
DJ Larkin was born in New England in 1971 and wrote his first short story in first grade. It was about bunnies and dinosaurs. It didn't end well for the bunnies. All throughout school, he enjoyed writing short stories and essays for classes. It was the beginning of a love affair with writing that has lasted to this day.
But it wasn't until 2014 that he took the plunge and released his first novel out into the wild titled Vacant Hearts - a love letter to his wife. The trilogy was wrapped up in the same year with Confessing Hearts and Healing Hearts following.
When he's not writing, DJ Larkin enjoys martial arts, photography, and watching his kids in their various activities such as hockey and gymnastics.
**This is book 2 in the Vacant Hearts series - I highly recommend reading book 1, Vacant Hearts before reading this one.**
This is the continuation of Sapphira and Alexander's story and it's quite a ride!
After Alexander kicks Sapphira out of his home for being in his deceased wife's office, Sapphira is heartbroken. She returns home to her her apartment and begins to move on with her life.
Alexander knows he's made he biggest mistake of his life. He let his inability to deal with his wife's death compromise his future with the only woman since her that he's felt anything for.
Once he decides to get her back, it's all bets off. Will she accept him back or is the damage already done? Will ghosts of the past make their happily ever after only a dream?
This is another amazing story from D.J. Larkin. The way that he writes is exquisite. The scenes are steamy, the love strong, and the characters are real. This one ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, which I love, so at the end, you'll be counting down the days until you're able to see what the future holds for Sapphira and Alexander.
When we left off in book one, Alexander and Sapphira were in a bad place, we didn’t know if their relationship was going to last. Alexander is trying to get over the death of his wife and move on with Sapphira but he needs to just let go. In book two, Alexander is ready to anything to get Sapphira back, and Sapphira, she finally has the lady balls to make him beg for forgiveness. It was nice to see her grow into a stronger female lead character.
DJ Larkin gives us more insight on the things that happened to make these two lovers the way they are, which was much needed. But, it was a little slower read and harder for me to get into. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Alexander and Sapphira and can’t wait to see what happens in book three! I recommend this series if you looking for a love story with a different twist.
This is the second book to the Vacant Hearts Series and I have taken my own sweet time to reading this book. I'm wishing now I would have read it sooner, but the anticipation for book 3 is even higher now! You MUST read this series. They are written by a dear friend and an inspiring and inventive author!
Sapphira Jones has been trying to find some measure of calm in her life since her boyfriend, Alexander Thomas broke up with her. The death of his wife has haunted him greatly and the grief he feels will not let him love Sapphira without feeling badly about it. They each are grieving in their own way. Alexander with the loss of his wife and Sapphira with the loss of a normal, loving childhood. It really is a heartbreaking and uplifting story. They each need each other to get over the obstacles in their paths.
I can't get into too many details without spoiling the nature of the story. Just pick up Vacant Hearts, read Confessing Hearts and get ready for the big FINALE! You won't be sorry in the least!
This is a continuation of Sapphira and Alexander's story that began in the book, Vacant Hearts. I recommend reading book one prior to this book. The ending to book one will make your jaw drop and your heart skip a beat. This series is for mature adults who know love is as strong as death. Alexander Thomas, similar to Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, is a quintessential Jekyll and. Hyde whose essence reaches beyond the pages. At the story's end, hope renews: there has to be more.
This part two has out done the first part. It is sweet, charming and compelling. Alexander is such lost soul that needs to be loved. Sapphira is a caring loving person that maybe the end to his misery. Can they over come their past to find a future for them selves?. You will just have to keep reading to find out lol. Daryl is such a romantic and it shows in his writing :). You can not go wrong reading this series. It will leave you with such a warm feeling. If I could give I would give Confessing Hearts and Vacant Hearts 10 -Stars!
Alexander and Sapphira get together again and trust and love starts to take over but with everything that drama starts and someone from her past is back and scares her and Alexander tries to make her safe. Can't wait for the next one.
