All that mythology and dwelling in the past, with the different yokais, really is interesting, accompanied by great art, but ... I came here for Hinako being eaten by a monster, and I really hope the author won’t break this promise a second time.

Sai keeps preaching in the afterwords that they love gloomy stories, but this is turning into a “how to overcome depression” type of story. Going much more into the hopeful side. As said in a previous review, the melancholy is completely half-assed.

And so is the yuri part. There’s no romance whatsoever, the one and only kiss has been censored, and while I don’t mind a story focusing on platonic friendships, it’s annoying that there were 2 click-bait Tropes.

The horror aspect too is declining.

Tsukabi continues to be annoying, especially because I don’t like the type of character-trope she fulfills. She’s still better than Shiori tho.

This is starting to feel a lot like TBHK... obviously, no matter what route Sai will choose for this, it’ll always be better than tbhk, but ... I still hope Sai will choose the ‘gloomy’ ending.

“you shall be my grave, shiori-san.”

hinako (ㅠ﹏ㅠ)!!!!!!

ughhhhh it’s so depressing……. i really, really hope hinako gets better soon… the look on her face when she said that shiori would eat her—aaagghhh!!! she wants to die more than anything and it’s so!!! sad!!!!!!!

“i cannot imagine you becoming one of those stones. you’re not hard and cold like them. you’re much softer. i want to feel your warmth near me. i want to keep hearing your voice. i’m not like you. i won’t be able to just stand and pray before your grave. i don’t ever want to imagine your body under the stone. a world that doesn’t have you in it, that, yeah, that must be… very lonely for me.”

oh just kill me

the art too. it’s just. oh my god, it’s SO gorgeous. shiori and hinako looked so beautiful here—and all the other volumes too but this one especially—at the grave yard—it’s just…aaaaaggghhhhhhhh yuri yuri yuri, i love yuri………

tsubaki breaking the bracelet that controlled miko’s monster form really reminded me of fruits basket, especially kyo’s bracelet. shiori being angry because hinako said miko could devour her, but still thinking that at least hinako wants something (helping miko) and that, over time, she’ll change her mind about wanting to die, hit really hard for me.
i do think it’s a bit convenient that the bracelet no longer has any influence now that the monk is dead and miko can control herself, but i actually liked what that means thematically. her bonds with humans are stronger and bigger than her hunger.
tsubaki asking miko to kill her so that hinako would hate her was so messed up. tsubaki completely misunderstood her grandmother’s wishes, since she loved humans, and on top of that tsubaki had been impersonating her so miko would believe she was the raccoon yokai she met ages ago.
