Returning to the town of my childhood abduction to settle my late father's estate proves more challenging than expected.
On my first day, a chilling note labeled "Little Moth" sparks unsettling events. The notes soon lead to ominous phone calls and a lurking presence outside my windows. I suspect the stalker could be Sheriff Banner, tangled in my father's past, fire chief Dale Watchman, or even the firefighter who saved me years ago. Someone watches me sleep, lurks outside my darkened windows, yet vanishes without a trace when confronted. Despite warnings to leave, I, Vanessa Elizabeth Harper, am determined to confront my fears.
In a town where shadows hold secrets, my past threatens to become my future.
O tyle fajnie, ze FMC była dosyc pyskata🫣 “Hey asshole, if you’re listening? Little tip. I don’t like doing dishes, so if you can find a clit, you can find a sponge. Wanna impress me? Clean my fucking house.” I paused, silently fuming. “Asshole.
I'll start off by saying that I'm an incredibly picky person when it comes to books like this. Most of them just don't hit the mark either due to the lack of realism or something else. There's always too much sex and not enough story and if there is story its written in a way that makes it clear that it was there simply to break up the pages of bad smut.
Like A Moth To A Flame is nothing like those books. The story grips you by the throat and pulls you along for the ride whether you're ready or not. You grow attached to each character, even if they only show up for a split second in one or two chapters and by the end of the book you're wondering why there isn't a second one.
The sex scenes are incredibly well paced and thought out, and even if certain scenes made me regret my morning coffee, I still couldn't put the book down.
The ending tied the entire story together and made the little town of Cottonwood Falls seem that much more alive. Every town has a history and even the most unassuming people have a story and Lillith makes sure to give that lifelike realism to every name in this book and she does so in a way that puts you at the edge of your seat.
Some are saying she's the next H.D Carlton but honestly this book far surpasses the four books I've read by Carlton. I've been following this author for a long time and cannot wait to see if there's another in this new series because you can bet I won't be able to put it down.
If you want to read it and you're on the fence, pull the lever and take the ride. You won't regret it.

so many spoilers and so much saltiness ahead. this book needed an editor SO badly. such wasted potential.
the story is really slow to start. 30% in and it struggled to hold my attention. for a stalker romance it was oddly lacking in the stalking aspect. 2 notes and like 1.5 phone calls don’t build much suspense. there was also a lot of unnecessary details that felt like the author was adding words for the sake of adding them. details like the color of her phone strap, state of her toenails, and that she just loved her coffee hot. it makes the storytelling come off immature. this happens often enough that i honestly think the book could have been at least 50 pages shorter. it also would have been much shorter if it wasn’t so repetitive with everything during their inner monologues.
the FMC is really not the brightest tool in the shed. and by not the brightest, i mean embarrassingly moronic. this girl is 28 and up until the point of that being stated i honestly thought she was in her early twenties with how she behaves.
she had been abducted and raped as a teen - something she says she hasn’t recovered from btw - and yet when she discovers she has a stalker she refuses to leave her house because sHe wOnT LeT hiM wiN…… sorry but that’s actually the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard. there were much smarter ways to approach her staying, that was just a lazy excuse.
when her friend comes to stay with her she lets her sleep on the couch, when she has a STALKER. just because he’s harmless to you doesn’t mean he won’t hurt anyone else. there’s nothing to show that he wouldn’t be a threat to her friend. why the friend is okay with this is also dumb but she’s a whole other problem. the FMC also repeatedly states how she can’t cook and she has to learn since she’s gonna be there awhile but like….. how has she been living the past decade on her own and STILL can’t cook? what has she been doing this whole time?
as a woman, i get using ur bra to hold stuff sometimes but the way she goes about it is like it’s a backpack or something. there’s a limit to what it can hold please stop acting like a perverted version of mary poppins.
there’s SO many inconsistencies throughout the book.
like the timeline. she says she left the town 6 years ago to go to college, so she would be about 24 but is apparently 28? at the start she said that her abduction happened 13 years prior, which would make her 15 when it happened but then she said it happened when she was 13. and then at a different point it’s said that abduction happened 14 years ago? there’s just a lot of random numbers thrown around.
the inconsistencies don’t stop there, minor details about her clothing and such also change haphazardly. or how it would suddenly change into 3rd person in the middle of a sentence when the FMC was talking about herself. the way the story progresses you would think only a few days had passed, since there’s nothing to indicate that days were being skipped or what was happening during that time and yet somehow magically 2 weeks had passed…?
we also don’t really see how she “never recovers” from her abduction. there’s never any manifestation of her trauma or anything that indicates she’s been traumatized. if it wasn’t explicitly mentioned, you never would have guessed from her behavior that anything has happened to her. which is fine, if only she described it as something that took time to recover and move on from but no, she says she never recoverd…? even though she’s been comfortable talking about the incident for years?
her friend amelia (who is obnoxiously intolerable except for 2 scenes maybe) decides that she’s gonna come to visit her, uninvited btw, then shamelessly goes boy crazy over the firefighter, knowing that the FMC used to have a crush on him. and when she’s being told about creepy notes and her house being broken into she acts like she’s hearing high school gossip. the entire time this girl comes off so incredibly childish and it gives such an ick. she even stole the FMC’s phone and ran away with it like some irate toddler and my god that was such an annoying thing to read. get this grown child out of here. her visit was completely unnecessary and gave us literally nothing but a headache. cheerful doesn’t equate to childish.
then there’s the ball. the whole thing was giving high school prom. from the way the FMC was talking about it with her friend to the ‘omg how are we gonna do our hair and make up😱’ it was like 2 teenagers scheming and was just so strange. their plan was dumb as shit too.
the idiocy of the FMC knows no bounds. she not only decides to go out to a bar with her friend and bunch of guys but also decides that dancing with a LITERAL STRANGER (per the instance of her super duper smart friend) and choosing to go home with him is such a bright idea. even after her stalker says he’s gonna kill the guy. 🫠😪
she has zero survival instincts and absolutely no common sense.
it’s so confusing how much this girl swings back and forth from liking the MMC to hating him. it would have been more enjoyable if she went from being afraid to liking him and we see that gradual shift. but her being like oh no big bad stalker to yea fuck me daddy to leave me alone to omg he’s my hot protector to i can’t believe you did this….. it gets old real fast.
the marriage and her finding out she was pregnant was told in a really bizarre way. it was a flashback but not really? idk it was just awkward to read and should have been approached slightly differently.
“just like me she had a baby to protect” and yet you’re so okay with brushing everything off as if you don’t. and then your own insistence on just being like yea shits fine all the time led you to your own downfall. you’re pregnant with a threatening stalker, ACT LIKE IT. absolutely zero critical thinking skills.
you never get a clear image of what her younger years were like and i think that left things confusing, especially about her dad. the story just decided a good chunk into the story that actually no, you don’t like her dad, he sucks. her father was this great guy that took care of everyone but she apparently played mom to him, even though she described herself as being an angry teen, not a caretaker. it’s also randomly thrown in at like 30% that he was an alcoholic. the FMC doesn’t describe her earlier years much but there’s still no previous indication of this at all or even that he was neglectful. then come to find out her dad was just this big sexist asshole that was basically allowing her to interact with someone that played a role in her assault, didn’t even let hospital staff do a rape kit on the poor girl. how is this the same guy as man that supposedly sang her praises to the town but apparently was just wildly disappointed in her. was he a good dad or not? did she even like him? why did she speak so positively about him in the beginning if he was such a horrid ass this whole time? and oh god the SHERIFF the man let her be friends with her rapist just cuz he said oops my bad. ????? what the fuck ????? even if he decided to be merciful cuz he was such a traumatized kid (which we’re never told how or why) why the fuck would you let him remain so close to his victim???? even tommy let him stay in her life, knowing first hand what he did. literally everyone just let her be besties with her rapist like it was no big deal?!?!
the mystery of who the stalker is really wasn’t that mysterious. the blurb literally points out 3 suspects. the married police sheriff with a grown son, the fire chief we see once and is described with a beer gut and dad energy or maybe MAYBE it’s the super hot firefighter that saved the FMC from her abduction and she had a crush on for years. gee golly i wonder who it could be ??🧐
The stalking should have been more of a focal point in the beginning and should’ve built up overtime, happening more often. the shift of her emotions should have also been something gradual. it took her one orgasm to be all into the guy. it was too quick and easy.
info was just thrown out occasionally with no real explanation and it made absolutely no sense.
so many things weren’t explained. what the fuck happened to this girls job in the city when she never says she quits and was planning to return to her life there majority of the book? why does he call her moth? why was her dad so okay with him setting fires and even helping him? why did her dad have millions hidden away when he was just a police chief in a small town? why did people have such an issue with a 10 year age gap, she’s literally 30 years old tf? why did tom of all people give such a fuck about gossip anyway? what exactly was barrett’s grand plan when he voluntarily kept himself at a friends distance from the FMC? why was barrett gone for so long before he attacked? how was barrett traumatized by his sicko dad? how was his dad a sicko? where was barrett’s mom when vanessa’s abduction happened in the first place since barrett apparently lived with her when he was in school? just all in all, what the fuck was actually happening?
we don’t even get an explanation as to why tom was so damaged until the last 10% and even that was super brief. that’s something that should have at least slowly been hinted at during his inner monologues.
the book was so hyped and it was disappointing to see the result. it was so unnecessarily long as well.

5 stars is not enough. Traumatic event and moth leaves town only to be brought back by a death. Firefly sets his eyes on her. There is no way to give more detail without spoiling I’m not good at not spoiling lol. But this has stalker and suspense and you questioning everyone lol. I had to slow myself down I was reading it to fast and didn’t want it over but had to know more. I’m really sad it’s over but author really entraps you in this story and has you so into it your paranoid trying to figure out who it is. 10/10 recommend
Incredible! Amazing! Gripping! This story leaves you NEEDING more, wondering what is going to happen next … it is such a wild ride with twists and turns that have you the on the edge of your seat
The character and story development was written so well and smoothly and the chemistry and spice between the MC’s was 👌 🥵🥵🫠🫠
ARC review 👀... This book was FABULOUS! 🤩 Just the right amount of spice, the plot & plot twists, the characters (especially Miss Mae 🩷), ev-er-y-thing! 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
EASILY the best stalker romance I have read! 👤🌟 A majority of the stalker books I've read have had a mid-to-high cringe factor 🥴 to them, but I felt more mysterious and sleuth vibes with LAMTAF. 🥷🏼
Moth and Firefly are both morally grey, but they complement each other perfectly.🩶 🫶🏻
"I expected her to break, to scream in her heartbreak as it tore through her, flooding from her eyes as she crumpled in my arms. She didn’t. She made a single, soft noise in her throat and turned, nesting in my arms and folding herself against me. I should have known. My moth was strong - stronger than anyone I’d ever known." 🦋🔥
“Wash The its- tits, pits, and slits “ (my new fav quote) “Enough red flags to open a six flags .. and I’m gunna ride every single ride”
“She’d call me daddy while she made me a father” PLZZZ
‘Present under the bed scene…. Iykyk’
Arc review
I ate that up Once I started reading I couldn’t stop fr READ THE TRIGGERS / I wouldn’t say it was too bad but it definitely delt with some hard topics and some scenes may be triggering.
With Nessa returning to a town where something so tragic happened to her, just for her father’s funeral, things are obviously going to be stressful but when the notes start showing up … things start to take a turn..
Boi was I on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who our firefly was, and it. Did. Not. Disappoint. That’s all I’ll say 😂 Just when you think you got it figured out there’s something thrown in that disproves what you thought you knew and the plot twist towards the end had me screaming crying throwing up fr. Our girl Nessa really couldn’t catch a break for a while there. And the spice was very much spicing too 🌶️🌶️🌶️/ 5
I can’t get over how well the book was written, the detail and style was so good it kept me hooked and made me feel like I was in the book lol The storyline and characters were also well written and thought out, and with all of that together it really did make a great book.
This could’ve had a lot of potential but it just didn’t work for me. It was all over the place, the characters just didn’t make any sense and the ending was too messy.
*massive spoilers ahead*
I just don’t understand how you’re not able to recognize someone when they’re not hiding their voice & you can look into their eyes too!
The IUD scene was painful to read through.
The twist with her friend was kind of dumb and the fact that his personality completely changed was so weird.
When she finally found out who her stalker was, she didn’t even bat an eye! Like WHAT!!
I don’t know, I could go on and on but I won’t. Stalker romances are hard to write and this wasn’t it.

I had never heard of this author. I seen the book title on a monthly book service and gave it a chance. It keeps you guessing from the beginning to end. I enjoyed this book. This is an adult book for sure.
📚 Book- Like A Moth To A Flame by Lillith Abendroth
This was the most DELICIOUS game of cat and mouse. 🤌 To me, this book gave Scream vibes, but make the MMC utterly obsessed and in love with his victim. The way the book was set up had me feeling like I was really there with the characters, experiencing the grief, sadness, passion, and thrills with each of them. The characters are not perfect, they are each broken in their own way, but together they begin to heal and feel whole again. The MFC is fiesty and strong willed, but she's found a new weakness. Our villain had me squealing and falling in love with him SO hard. Face down on the ground, I have no regrets. 😂 When reading some scenes, I literally felt like I was on the other end of the phone with him, twirling my hair around my finger, kicking my feet, feeling giddy. I was and am completely smitten, but boyyy is he unhinged! I found myself anxiously anticipating their interactions together because I couldn't wait to see what would happen between them next. And this man's mouth. Oh my gosh. 🥵 It's safe to say I have a new book boyfriend. This is one of the most fun, p@nty melting stalker books I have ever read. The 'who done it' element had me so sucked in, I couldn't put it down. If you haven't read this, you need to run and grab it now. Right now. So be a good girl and go add it to your cart. 🖤 k love you, byeee
This book is not hyped enough. This book is very well written. I’m a sucker for a good stalker romance, with some Stockholm syndrome vibes and this hits the nail for both tropes. I couldn’t put it down, any spare moments I had throughout the day my nose was in my kindle waiting to see what MMC and FMC would do next, and how their relationship would progress as a result. It was a rollercoaster, and a great one at that.
If you’re looking for a st@lker romance with br3eding, voyeurism, some primal play, an obsessive and possessive MMC with some BDSM aspect (collaring) and a FMC who becomes equally as obsessed with the MMC and quite literally has her world turned upside down and comes out stronger in the end, then this is for you.
I have no words for this book! It was so good! Those who compare it to Haunting Adeline were right to do so because it's it just as amazing if not better! Definitely one of the best stalker romances Ive read! plot twist in this book is insane! It made me laugh so hard at certain parts 🤣 Definitely made my top 5!
Coffee will never be the same lol! Not to mention "If I was afraid of a little blood, I wouldn't have gotten where I am in life." IYKYK
This book is what so many book girlie's have been looking for 😍! Make sure to read the trigger warning tho! Literally, the groups I'm in post daily about looking for these exact chain of events in this book!
And to make the experience so much better, while I was reading a dark mournful sphinx Moth showed up!
I'm actually about to go on a book bender and read this authors other books! She is the next H.D Carlton!
Absolutely Amazing! I couldn't put it down! this book is written soo smoothly the character growth and the chemistry between the MC's is amazing! The spice be spicing, the twist be twisting lol.
I love a good stalker romance! And I will be definitely buying a shelf trophy 🏆 lol...Like A Moth To A Flame will be added to my re-reading section lol.
If you enjoyed Haunting Adaline by HD Carlton then you LOVE this book!
I received this book for free as an ARC read, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!
ahhhh i absolutely devoured this book. it was like reading haunting adeline but better. loved the suspense, the stalking, the spice. everything about it was just chefs kiss. if you’re a fan of haunting adeline or books like it, then you should definitely check this one out. shout out to the author for an ARC but this is my honest review:)
I don't even know where to begin! Wow! This had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I seriously was shocked to find out who the stalker was. Then to find out the truth of the "best friend" ! I loved how we got to see how the story played out after the stalker is identified! I love this book so much!!
Wow!!! The trigger warnings ⚠️ explain it all. I thought it was going to be a bit mellow. Oh boy!!!! No way!!! I couldn't put it down. I'm ready to re-read it after I put my suggested Spotify music list together and see how it flows! Buckle up for a great book!!!!
Arc review 🤌🏻 Let me tell you, I was very happy I received this as an ARC. If you liked Haunting Adeline, you’ll like this stalker romance, keeps you on your toes and has lots of twists and turns. I’ll be keeping an eye out on more books from this author 🫶🏻
Absolutely loved this book! Multiple plot twist and keeps you on your toes guessing who the stalker is! I couldn’t put it down with all the twist and turns.
Absolutely amazing!! Trigger warnings definitely but this book was a wild ride, the who done it changes throughout the book and you think you know only to be sideswiped. Huge twist in the middle and just an all around great read

This was more than a stalker book in my opinion. It was a hero saving book. I loved this trope so much. I didn't know I needed this but I absolutely did. I wish it didn't end. I wish there was more.
This book is excellent! The perfect amount of character development, plotline and spice to keep me wanting more and more and more and more… everything was perfectly digestible and given to you in the most meaningful increments, leaving the reader following along on the journey suspicious of everyone, cautiously curious, hopeful, and willing to explore fantasies I didn’t even know I had. #daddyissues. The suspense was integral, the aha moments had you going “wtf?!” And the side plots were just as sinister and necessary for the full plotline to come to the conclusion it did with the pomp and circumstance that left me in awe of the story. This one has climbed its way up to the top of my “best reads ever”. I hope you all fall in love with the characters and story just as much as I did.
Stalker romances will forever be a favorite of mine. Typically you know who the stalker is that is not the case in this book. I was guessing and everyone I thought for sure would be the stalker was not.It takes over half the book for it to be revealed. I absolutely loved the MMC he knows exactly what to say and do if you catch my drift. He is troubled and obsessed with the FMC. The FMC is a strong smart woman. The prologue gives you a little insight to her past. Despite her past she moved on to become successful and fierce. There is a plot twist at the ending that I didn’t quite expect either. I devoured this in 3 days despite trying to take my time and savor it. If you love stalker romances you need to add this to your TBR. Please check TWs there are some heavy topics in this book.
I really enjoyed this book! I love my spicy books but i have to have plot along with it and this book delivers. I had to know who the stalker was! I stayed up extra late just to find out. I loved the spice and connection between these two characters! The friendship was great between her and her friend too. There was also a great twist that i did not see coming! I do wish there was more of an explanation of what happened right after the abduction when she was younger though. Im very happy i was chosen as an Arc reader because this book is now in my top five and i’ll be checking out more books by this author!
Arson Stalker Touched her and die (just to name a few)
It drew me in exactly like its title and never let me go. I was hooked from the beginning of the book with the introduction of the characters Firefly and Moth. There is an MMC where parts of him are morally grey; and and FMC who just wants to be allowed to be herself. They are linked in so many ways. There is a mystery in this both past and present and how everything is interwoven is just amazing. As always, be sure and check your triggers. I highly suggest this book!! I know I will be rereading it!
I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Phew man, this was a fucking ride! A good ass ride, but a ride non the less. If you are wanting a book that has stalker(s), spicy spice, and a thriller aspect than THIS is the book for you.
Trauma ✅ Firefly ✅ Stalker(s) ✅ Spice ✅ Betrayal ✅ Unhinged MMC ✅ As many Red Flags as a 6 Flags ✅
I could go on, but honestly you just need to read this book, cause its that damn good.
Left much to be desired. Hated the writing style. She’s supposedly a doctor but acts like a young girl. Makes moronic decisions. I hated Amelia she’s another one that just acted like a child. I hate when the MMC just wallows in self pity with low self esteem. How am I supposed to believe you’re irresistibly attractive when you talk bad about yourself. And then he hesitates being out with her because he’s worried about what people in the town will say. If you’re so obsessed/in love with her it wouldn’t matter. The fact that she went back to him after all of that just put me off. Had to DNF at 73%
