While kids scrawl notes to Santa Claus, hatchlings write to Santa Claws. They ask for treats to fuel their romping. Santa better get to stomping!
With bouncy, delightful rhymes, Santa Claws celebrates Christmas in the Cretaceous world. Every year, Santa Claws delivers presents, spreading cheer wherever he goes. Every dino in the land gets into the Christmas Boneheads make toys, Gallimimus trims the Christmas tree, and Tiny T-Rex makes sure Santa doesn't go hungry.
Get ready for a ride on Santa's sled (pulled, of course, by pterosaurs) in this joyful holiday tale!
So how was Christmas celebrated in the Cretaceous period? It wasn't, of course. But humor the dino lovers as they spin the tale of Santa Claws! I must admit there is something tremendously appealing about a sleigh pulled by Pterosaurs with our T-Rex Santa at the helm.
The rhyming is a little rough in places but if you have a dinosaur lover in your midst, this is a must! And the author provides a nice glossary at the end that explains the dinos and other critters in the book. Like ammonites! Not a lot of picture books include ammonites.
The rhymes are a bit wonky, but the illustrations are fantastic and more than make up for it. Lots of dinosaur humor and multi-syllable dino names of the sort so many kids adore. This one is a lot of fun!
Super cute! I highly recommend this as a holiday read if you or your little love dinosaurs! I enjoyed that they covered some dino favorites (among kiddos), along with a few lesser known dino friends. I would definitely read this again. ;)
The dinosaur set will find this take on Santa Claws delightful. Nice rhymes for the Cretaceous period. Dino back matter shares some basic info for additional discussion.
