Moonvale Matches #2

Cauldrons and Cat Tails: A Cozy Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
A witch, an orc, and a steamy journey across the realm...

Is it hot in here or is that just Kizzi’s cauldron?

Kizzi is a witch who knows what she wants—she wants to brew the best potions, drink the best ciders, and run her apothecary business without being disturbed by pesky sprites.

Tandor, the local orc bartender, spends his days serving ales at Ginger’s Pub, yet he can’t help but yearn for the sassy green-haired witch that’s always guzzling his ciders.

When a magical mishap destroys Kizzi’s cauldron and doses the entire town with a love potion, Kizzi enlists Tandor’s help to find the cure before she misses out on Moonvale’s Hallow’s Eve celebration—a journey that will bring them closer than ever.

Cauldrons and Cat Tails is the second book in a series of interconnected standalone fantasy romance novels that take place in a cozy, small town where folk of all species reside. Grab a warm cup of tea or a spiced pumpkin cider and dive into this world of romance, magic, and mayhem.

This was absolutely perfect and adorable in every way possible. The magic, the small town, the slow burn romance, the sprites, her familiar that she accidentally made 😂

These books are so freaking good and so comforting at the same time. I’m so happy that as a romance reader I finally found another cozy fantasy book that I love! I hope this author keeps writing because I will read everything of hers.

✨Cauldrons and Cattails✨

Oh my goodness, I have just thoroughly enjoyed these sweet little tales of Moonvale and their oh so creative characters. These cozy cottagecore romantasies are perfect for my soul and this one is equally perfect for Halloween.

In CACT, which is book 2 in Hailey’s Moonvale Matches, we follow a dual POV. Firstly is Kizzi, a flighty, talented apothecary with an avoidance tendency to rival her capabilities. Second is our lovable Orc bartender Tandor who, while big and strong, is so completely kind and soft inside AND he’s harboring a secret crush. When Kizzi’s chili finds itself spiced with love potion, the town in disarray, and her coven’s cauldron cracked in half, she recruits Tandor and his muscles to help her on her journey. But did he drink the potion, too?

This story is low stakes and perfect for in between those intense cliffhangers/series. Hailey does such an incredible job weaving entertainment, whimsy, humor, and romance while constantly keeping our attention. Even though the pace was calm, I never found myself wanting. Just content. I giggled and swooned and closed the book feeling so fulfilled.

Tropes you may find in CACT are forced proximity, strangers to lovers, super sweet cinnamon roll MMC (unless he’s in the bedroom), aloof and adorable witchy FMC, unique familiars, magical creatures, small town, medium spice, and an interconnected standalone.

Thank you, Hailey, for letting me be an arc reader for you again. I love this sweet little series!

This was a cozy but reasonable book for the length that it was, a good October book. It had its magic and it's spokinas to it. I quite enjoyed the characters they just had this fun energy to them. It was goofy, but it could be serious. I really enjoyed the 2 main characters. They each had their love and passion for the thing that they were doing for a career for living. The journey that they went on was Interesting, and it had its comedy parts in it for sure. She accidentally made a familiar.

“She was art, this little witch. A beauty that made my stomach ache.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Hailey Blackwood for the gifted arc!

Hailey does it again 🤭 I’m so happy to be back in moonvale with Kizzi and Tandor this time! All of the same cozy vibes but add magical mishaps, slow burn romance, and adorable creatures 🥰

We are in the same world as book 1 in this series, and I still love it! I’m obsessed with how adorable this town is and how quirky the characters are 🤭 it was so fun seeing this town from Kizzi’s perspective and learning more about how magic works!

Kizzi is so friggin ADORABLE 🥰 everything goes wrong for this girl but she just goes with it and works on a solution! I adored seeing her embrace the sprites and the other creature we meet ❤️ she’s truly so caring and selfless!

“Old gods, if you can hear me, please burn my stash of smutty books if I die.”

Tandor is a big teddy bear 🥹 he’s so sweet and shy and I loved learning more about him! He’s so passionate about his ciders and, of course, kizzi 😌 I always love an mmc who has a large, scary exterior but a gooey center!

“I was usually the confident one, but it was hard to be myself when just looking at the witch made my palms sweat.”

Kizzi and Tandor are such a cute match! I feel like the flow perfectly and are opposites in the best way ❤️ Tandor is so shy around her and tries to flirt but fails miserably. Kizzi is oblivious to his attempts, yet falls fast on their little journey 🤭 forced proximity, one bed, and one horse? Perfection 🤌

“Kizzi, you’ve held my heart in your hand for longer than you know.”

If Love Letters & Thirst Tonics was Luke and Lorelai, I will argue that Cauldrons & Cat Tails is Ross and Rachel coded.

Kizzi is a witch who accidentally enchanted nearly the entire town of Moonvale with a love potion AND accidentally broke the largest cauldron needed by her coven for Hallow's Eve rituals.... So, here she goes across the realm to find a cure and a new cauldron in time. But like, the cauldron is going to be soooo heavy. So she asks Tandor, the orc who brews delicious ciders at the local pub, to join her. He immediately says yes because he has secrelty (not so secretly) been pining for Kizzi for YEARS.

I love C&CT even more than LL&TT! Tandor is literal perfection and this was just such a cute, fluffy, cozy little witchy read. Honestly, this is easily a comfort series for me.

Omg, I loved this cute and cozy fantasy! Cauldrons and Cat Tails is the second book in the author's Moonvale series and is my favorite so far. I liked Love Letters and Thirst Tonics, but Cauldrons.... Cauldrons I looooved!
I was smiling, laughing, kicking my feet and having such a good time with this book.

If you're in the mood for a cute, fun, lowstakes fantasy romance with strong witchy vibes and golden retriever type MMC - this is the book for you!

The writing was simple yet nothing was missing and was incorporating some of my favorite tropes such as ✨ he falls first ✨

Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️ (out of 5)
It was well written too, it made me blush, not cringe.

Well done, Hailey Blackwood! Thank you for inviting me back to Moonvale. I can't wait to see what you write next ❤️❤️❤️

Welcome back to Moonvale!
This was such a good sequel, and I loved getting to know Kizzi better. Tandor was one of my favorite parts about this story- the man is head over heels, and knows it completely. You can really feel the growth in the writing in this one, and I'm excited to see which Moonvale resident will be next! The end of this one sets up a much bigger plot- well, as big as cozy fantasy allows- and I CANNOT wait to see how it all pans out going forward!

If you like:
☆ one bed 😏
☆ accidental magic
☆ friends-to-lovers
☆ he-falls-first
☆ cozy fantasy stand-alone
☆ magic animal/creature interference
Then this is the series for you!

the second in an interconnected series set in the magically cozy town of Moonvale.

This book focuses on our favorite angry witch, Kizzi, who has to cook someone for the town potluck, while fighting off the sprites always messing with her, and dealing with some weird magic sludge in her favorite cauldron. oh and did I mention that even though Kizzi is unrivaled when it comes to making potions, her cooking leaves A LOT to be desired.

after the potluck we find out somehow an ILLEGAL love potion made it into Kizzi’s potluck chili which nearly everyone in the town ate. so now she must go on a quest to find powdered dragon eggs (dragons are extinct) and a new cauldron (that no one can carry except the orc bartender, Tandor).

Kizzi and Tandor set off on a quest to find the two things before Hallow’s Eve. Oh, did I mention Tandor has a crush on Kizzi and Kizzi likes Tandor too but is worried he’s under a love spell and lost his free will? the drama! If that wasn’t enough, the inns only have ONE BED and it’s so cold in the mountains that Kizzi has no choice but to be near Tandor to take advantage of his body heat.

I absolutely adored this book. I love Kizzi and Tandor so much they are so different and so perfectly matched. they made me want to be in love and have someone see me for who i am and get me sweet treats and carey heavy things for me. I cannot WAIT to see what happens next in Moonvale… like I genuinely cannot wait.

Also shout out to Hailey Blackwood for another seasonal cider that is now on my grocery list.

do yourself a favor, pre-order/buy this book…NOW.

That was amazing. I liked book #1. Gave it a 3.5 because it was fun and cute. But book #2 was so much better.

It had a better storyline, the relationship of the MCs was infinitely better. There was yearning and passion. The first couple were ok but Kizzi and Tandor were awesome. He was the perfect golden retriever character and Kizzi was hilarious.

There was multiple moments of only one bed, the MCs had to go on a journey, great spice and just such a fun read. Their village also felt more fleshed out in this book and all the oddballs around town. Looking forward to keeping on with this series and the next characters to explore.

I received this book as an ARC read and let me tell you, this book was an absolute vibe! Cozy witchy feels, hilarious magic mishaps, and a main character I totally wanted to be friends with. The banter was on point, and the whole book had that perfect mix of humor and heart that kept me hooked. A couple of plot bumps here and there, but honestly? The charm made up for it. Kizzi became my favorite character against immediately with her interactions with the fairies and her new familiar and I loved how determined she was To make things right and fix her mistakes, you guts love a strong willed woman! The friends to lovers trope in this one was absolutely perfect and the quest they ended up on together really helped the slow burn really sizzle! All in all it was a fun read!

Absolutely adorable and fun adventure with two cinnamon roll and funny characters that keep you laughing from start to finish. I love this world that Hailey Blackwood has created. It is mischief, calamity, and cozy all rolled into one. These books are a favorite when I need escape from the demands of reality. She keeps it light, but really layers in romance, tension, and those moments that make you want to kick up your feet in glee.

Kizzi and Tandor's will they, won't they vibe truly sells this book. You are rooting for them to just give in and be together. I loved the adventure they go on to fix Kizzi's accidental love potion mishap.

4.5⭐️ I absolutely love the Moonvale Matches Series by Hailey Blackwood and this one does not disappoint. If you like a funny yet cozy romance then this book is for you. I loved letters and thirst tonics and was so excited to have been selected for this arc and it is so good. Kizzi is the kind of female main character that feels like your best friend. Her and Fiella remind me of my relationship with my friends and the book just feels so natural to read.

I loved the difference this relationship and dynamic that Tandor and Kizzi have vs what you saw with Fiella and Redd, it’s sweet and charming. Tandor is such a sweetie and I loved being able to learn more about people in the town that you only get a glimpse of on the first book. I cannot wait for what is next and thank you to Hailey for selected me for this arc, I am so in love with these books! I cannot wait for Merry in Moonvale!

To say I was pleasantly surprised by how I ended up very quickly falling head over heels for these two characters would be an understatement.

Kizzi is blunt, but somehow still sooo kind and funny. Her attitude had me smiling so hard my cheeks hurt… Tandor is a big ol hunk of a cinnamon roll.. I mean this man quite literally offers THE SOFTEST, MOST DELICIOUS PART OF HIS CINNAMON ROLL TO A WOMAN HE ISN’T EVEN DATING. What?! How do I get one?!? Sign. Me. Up. 👏 I am so incredibly in love with Tandor, I can’t even express it enough.

I lost track of how many times the inner monologue from these two had me actually cackling out loud.

The plot?! Yes. Just yes. For a cozy fantasy, this book at the perfect amount of plot to be cozy, but also to keep you into the story wanting to know more. This book was the perfect mix of cozy characters & enticing plot.

This series has quickly became a favorite in the cozy fantasy genre and I am so grateful to have this world to dive into. I cannot wait for the next book!

I 100000% recommend getting your hands on this. Don’t even get me started on that gorgeous cover, omggggg. 🥹😍

Hailey Blackwood is your go-to author if your heart craves a cosy, low-stakes monster romance with beautifully crafted characters and lots of laughs. Her writing will keep you entertained with its humor and heart-skipping moments.

Cauldrons and Cat Tails takes us back to Moonvale and its colourful residents, and I am so happy to be back. In the second instalment of Hailey's Moonvale Matches series, we follow the story of Kizzy and Tandor, a slow-burn romance that will keep you invested with its stolen glances, cute banter, and swoon-worthy moments.

A strong-willed witch and a cinnamon roll orc, what more could you ask for? Oh, wait, there is a journey they embark on, allowing them to really get to know each other, a slightly different witch familiar than we are used to, appearances from characters we previously met and loved, an enchantment gone a tiny bit off...It is all that and so much more.

Cauldrons and Cat Tails will bring you joy and laughter; it will make you swoon and understand why October is now Orctober and why we should celebrate it as a national holiday. So, be patient, wait until October 31st, and join us in Moonvale; we await you!

4.5 stars. Absolute freaking precious.

Cute, cozy, and witchy! Perfect for the season.

Kizzi is a witch in Moonvale. She’s a master at what she does but those dang sprites keep messing with her potions. Sometimes this leads to wild outcomes, such as her best friend’s hair turning bright blue. She accidentally makes some weird sludge. The thing boils without heat and is sticky as heck. Kizzi pushed it aside to work on more important things, like make chili for annual potluck. Shed horrible at cooking but she has to contribute. Little does she know she’s about to change everything in Moonvale and her life. Tandor is an orc that works at the local pub. He makes the best ciders around. Oh, he’s head over heels for Kizzi, but she doesn’t seem to notice. After Kizzi’s mishap at the potluck, he’s asked to travel with her to help her solve her “issue.” Can he confess his love?

Tandor is a freaking teddy bear and I love him. I love Kizzi but y’all, he’s the real star of the show. And Hex is sass incarnate.

Let’s not forget the spice. It was well done.

I wish this was a longer book simply because of the world building popping off at the end. I’m so excited for the next book!

Hailey has done it again! I was looking forward to Kizzy’s story, and it did not disappoint!

What we have here in this cozy romantasy
•Orc and a Witch
•Forced Proximity
•Cinnamon roll MMC
•Banter
•One bed 😉 ( thanks Tandor 😂)

I had so much fun with this one, you couldn’t cut the tension with a knife if you tried. 😮‍💨 Kizzy’s and Tandor’s chemistry was everything I could have ever wanted. I fell completely head over heels for Tandor, I mean how you not? He was so kind, respectful and was completely infatuated with Kizzy. It was adorable

I loved the adventure, the different aspects, including Casper, and Hex! The whole concept of this story was so fun and I enjoyed every bit of it! If you’re looking for a book to cozy up with, and have a great freaking time this is it!

I had the opportunity to read Cauldrons and Cat Tails by Hailey Blackwood before its release on October 31st 🐈🪄

Okay, so usually I am not a reader of cozy fantasies, however, I devoured this one! I loved that our main characters were a witch and an orc. Perfect for this time of year in my opinion!

This story is low stakes and cozy, but there was still a plot which makes the story interesting. I definitely found myself laughing out loud and really falling in love with the characters. Cinnamon roll MMC and feisty witch FMC..sign me up!

This is the second book in the Moonvale Matches series and while they are stand alone I do believe parts of the books are interconnected. I haven’t read book 1 yet, and still absolutely enjoyed book 2.

Thank you again for giving me the chance to read this wonderful book!

ARC review
I'm so glad I had the chance to be an ARC reader for this book. It's a super cute and cozy read that's perfect for the fall. I loved Kizzi's spunky personality in the first Moonvale Match book, Love Letters and Thirst Tonics, so I was excited to find out this was her story. Tander is a yummy, sweet, and spicy treat. They are definitely a perfect match! I loved the banter, secret crushes, forced proximity, the magic mishaps, sprites, Hex, and Casper. Halloween Town vibes, yes, please!

I didn’t think she could top Love Letters and Thirst Tonics but Cauldrons and Cat Tails is even better than the first one! Tandor is such a golden retriever boyfriend! I loved how much he considered Kizzi and her feelings. The journey style narrative kept you engaged throughout the entire story and the ending makes you crave another one! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I’m so lucky I was able to receive an ARC of this story!

I want to thank Hailey Blackwood for giving me an Arc to this lovely book.

Cauldrons and Cat Tails is the right amount off off lowstakes for me to keep it cozy. The spice was spicy. Kizzi is so obvious for Tandor that it kind off cute how desperate Tandor gets.

This book has all the vibes and not just for autumn but for every season or when you need to read a book under the blanket with a cup of tea.

This might be my favorite of the Moonvale Matches so far. Granted, I've read them out of order, so I knew some of the things that were going to happen in this story, but it didn't really detract from the story in any real way.

I love Tandor. He's so strong and sweet. I also really like Kizzi. It was interesting to have most of this story take place outside of Moonvale, and I liked some of the familiar tropes - like the "sharing one bed" trope.

My only frustration was I'm not a fan of the miscommunication trope, and Kizzi and Tandor wasted a lot of time by just not being forthright with each other. Though I guess we needed the tension to come from somewhere.

Also - big fan of Hex, and hope we see more of them in the future.

There's more spice in this book than I remember from the other two I read - but I fully admit that I may be misremembering... so there's that.

I feel blessed to have been an ARC reader for this book! I had such a good time with this one. This is the second book so go back and read Love Letters and Thirst Tonics (it’s just as good).
