I think that this book could be helpful for someone struggling with pet loss. It’s laid out logically. It’s easy to read, and written in a caring, calm manner that makes it accessible to a lot of different people. It’s not a comprehensive guide, but it’s still useful.

I would suggest this if you are completley new to the grieving process. Very basic beginners guide. It has some specifics of pet loss, but is more of the general process.

Helpful Info as the author details the 'Bargaining Phase'. Many pet owners face the unknown when it comes to decisions about medical care and, or euthanasia for their pet. We have to use their nonverbal behaivor to determine what is best. Often then you replay and question those decisions all while also being deeply sad. This experience is unique to pet ownership

I have experienced a lot of anger during my personal grief process and author suggests a writing prompt 'why are you angry?'
Plan on trying that

"Acceptance is about integrating, not forgetting , the memories of a beloved pet."
This quote really hit home as i would never be able to overcome my guilt if i acted like my dog (Priya) never existed. I want to accept what has happened but not ever fully move on. After 15 years she is always going to be a part of my life...the rituals the author suggests to integrate their memory into your life are very helpful
