Vela Roth manifested unstable writing powers at a young age, and many of her early experiments had unintended results. As she grew, a curriculum of fantasy novels with kickass heroines helped her learn to control and wield her abilities.

Eventually she dared pursue the knowledge inside the most forbidden tomes: romance novels. She's been practicing the dark arts of fantasy romance ever since, but she strives to use her novels only for good.

She lives in a solar-powered writer's garret at the foot of the mountains. Her familiar is a rescue cat with a missing fang and a huge heart. When not typing furiously at her manuscript, she can usually be found gaming on her home-built PC or trying to grow roses in the desert.

She loves hearing from readers and hopes you'll visit her at velaroth.com.

A super quick and spicy novella in the Hesperine world we know and love, this story is a bite-size enemies-to-lovers arc set to quench the thirst (no pun(s) intended). With compassion and revelations reminiscent of the main series, it’ll be hard for Vela fans not to love this slightly more intense vibe. And for new readers of Vela, this is the perfect pocket-sized example of just how intricate the dystopian/utopian pipeline can be.

Blood Tribute was a fast, compelling slice of the Blood Grace universe that is perfect for people looking to see what the series will provide. What you can expect: strong women, men who fall to their knees for their forbidden love, super steamy spice and some kind of extremely evil character who has been breathing far too long. I cannot overstate how well Roth does spice. It's always so (seemingly) effortlessly hot and angsty, and the Hesperines are always obsessed with the women, the way Hespera intended.

I can't believe how much world building and background Roth was able to squeeze into such a short story, but it's not at all overwhelming and ensures that if you're unfamiliar with the series, Hesperines, etc., you will not be lost for long. The relationship between humans and Hesperines is forever challenged in this universe this novella did a great job providing a window into that dynamic.

Dav and Nora are two of my faves! I can't wait to keep going with this series and seeing how else they show up.

Vela Roth proves she can write shorts that pack a punch! This was great- engaging, enemies to lovers, spicy with all the feels! So fun to see some different characters in this universe. All of Roth’s other books are 500+ pages and so detailed and epic. Glad to have something this bitesized to tide me over until the next Lio and Cassia installment is released. Highly recommend this if you need something short that is a sure thing.

I’ve got an amazing and emotional ride, was expecting it, but still was pleasantly surprised.
We are following characters who lived (and possibly leave) during times before Cassia and Lio’s story.
Dav is a hesperine who needs to fulfil his brother’s wish and rescue Lady from her house. Even though he really doesn’t want to do it, because her people killed the brother.
Nora is a lady, who decided to act and secure her castle, but she was unable to find a husband, so she needs to do something. And what a better option and gift for a fire order than something from dead hesperine. So her plan is to seduce the hesperine, force him into deal and kill him when he is not expecting it.
Sounds easy enough, Nora thought so, but Dav has some aces in his sleeve. So cute and nice!

Loved the emotions and thoughts we received in this book, small plot twists and sudden revelations were heartbreaking, the way Dav’s motivation changes was absolute delight.

omgggg 😍 I'm obsessed 😍

I've had Vela Roth on my radar for a while now but after reading a few... highly anticipated books this year that were massive disappointments... I was hesitant to pick up her Blood Grace series.

So the fact that Blood Tribute was a ✨ standalone ✨ within her larger series was perfect!

The writing? Amazing.

The two main characters? Adorable.

The world building? Refreshing.

The smut? Hawt 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I actually can't remember the last time I read a fantasy book where they didn't use the words "bond" or "mate" to describe two love interests—and I don't hate when they do—but Vela Roth's spin on the tropes / terms was a breath of fresh air.

I mean 💖 LOOK. AT. THAT. COVER. 💖

And I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but Nora and Dav are frkn stunning...

So if you're looking for a new fantasy world ft. vampires without committing to a new series ??? This is the standalone for you!

In an effort to keep her ancestral home, Nora must either marry or become a dame. She hopes to achieve the latter by seducing and slaying a Hesperine. Her trap is set but a bargain is struck- offer her blood for three nights and transform into one of them, if convinced. But nothing goes as planned and nothing is as it seems…

Tropes:
🚫 Enemies to lovers
🧛🏻 Vampires
💫 Magic & magical bonds
⚠️ “Who did this to you?”
🔥 Slow burn 🌶️
💕 HEA

Blood Tribute is a standalone novella set in the same world as the Blood Grace series. I haven’t yet read the series and loved meeting the courageous FMC Nora and mysterious and alluring MMC Dav in this story.

Blood Tribute is absolutely delicious enemies to lovers, slow burn romance with a vibrant, dark world and unique take on vampire lore. I am looking forward to diving into the entire Blood Grace series!

Huge thanks to the author and BookSirens for the ARC opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.

⭐ 3.9 A fangtastical vampire fix!

This was exactly what I needed. Honestly I didn’t think this would be as compelling but here we are.

I loved this spicy lil novella and that cover alone was enough for me to know I would indeed. Blood Tribune was a delicious and divine take on enemies to lovers, sprinkled with slow burn and a dark and unique world with fangtastic vampire lore.

I definitely am craving for more and will be checking out the rest of the books! Such good palette cleansers.

Read for:

- Enemies to lovers
- Vampires
- Magical bonds
- "Who did this to you?"
- Delicious slow burn

A fast paced romance novella with vampires? Tell me less hehe
A strong FMC who wants to show that she can take care of the evil in the world which means the next suspecting vampire who happened to be the brother of the one who killed her parents.
But they make a bargain where he drinks from her for 3 nights and he’ll show her things from his world. And possibly make her want him but never will he do anything unless she asks…and she did heheh
He shows her the truth and he’s there to protect her in the end. Even if she gets a little stabby towards him

For under 100 pages, Blood Tribute holds a lot of word building and plot. Nora thinks that she knows who killed her family and why, but her ideas of a lot of things are thrown upside-down when she meets Dav, a Hesperine (essentially a vampire). What really happened to her family? Short, spicy, with an HEA! I'm interested in the author's other stories in this world.

Thanks to the author and Book Sirens for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

If Vela Roth writes it, I’m going to read it. That’s been my motto since I read Blood Mercy two years ago. I love this world and the characters! Vela’s writing is honestly just so special because it really transports you to a different world. This is a deliciously spicy novella to dip your toes into the Blood Grace universe!

I loved the tension between Nora and Dav. They both had their reasons for seeking one another out and thought they were each other’s enemy and I just knew the enemies to lovers was going to hit different haha. The twist is one I didn’t see coming! There were actually a few things I didn’t see coming which made it even more enjoyable to read.

I read this so quickly! I just couldn’t put it down! I definitely recommend this one! Whether you’re new to the series or you’re anxiously awaiting the next book in The Blood Grace series, this is just the thing to tide you over!

“Nora,” he said, his voice gravelly.
“Offer me your throat again-on the bed this time.”

It was short and I wished it would have been longer because I am a spoiled Vela Roth reader and she always makes me want to live in her worlds. Despite being short it does not at all feel rushed. Far the opposite, Vela Roth knows how to spin a tale with you forgetting time and afterwards you will feel so satisfied. If a book could be a spa moment Blood Tribute would be the first place. Dav is so sensual and so much of a man who will make you swoon but whoaaaaaa Nora is a fire he thankfully knows how to keep burning where others tried to wipe it out. You have so many emotions and I teared up a little bit. This is a must have read if you like fangs and the best romance in a fantasy world you want to stay. THANK YOU VELA FOR WRITING ONE MORE MASTERPIECE WE ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOUR GREATNESS!

I’m not having much lucky lately in branching out and trying new authors 😑

I picked up this novella to get a sense of the author’s writing before investing more time in something longer. The idea wasn’t bad, but the characters felt like flat, generic cardboard characters filling out bland roles. The world building was messy. Nora was as 2D as it gets, and the whole “plot” felt like something that needed more development, stripped down and squished into the novella format 😕

Dav had so little personality it was jarring. He had some good one liners, but beyond knowing he had a brother whose quest he’s trying to complete, nothing else about him is developed 🫠 he’s just a generic dark haired vampire, a stock character pulled from the shelf that has nothing to him 😖

*sigh*

Not interested in looking into more of Vela Roth’s work. The best thing about this novella? A pretty cover!

This is Nora and Dav’s story. Nora wants to become a Dame in the Holy Knights Order, Dav is a mind healing Heretic. She lost her parents and he lost his brother on the same night and they both want revenge and to learn the truth. This book tells that story, and in this book, we learn things aren’t always as they seem to be or remembered. I enjoyed reading this novella as I have all the books in the Blood Mercy series. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because this book wasn’t long enough.. Vela Roth has a way with world building and drawing you into that world. I am hoping the wait for the next isn’t too long.
I received an advance reader copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

A cute and spicy small vampire novella. Honestly it’s a great palate cleanser in between larger books. Dav and Nora are goals.

I feel like she adequately described the story in the small amount of pages that she had. The cheeky lil twists in the plot were satisfying to discover

If you like vampires and spice, you should read this.

I was given this ARC thanks to BookSirens and Vela Roth for an honest review!

I loved this novella. I'm so intrigued by the world, lore and characters.

A super quick enemies to lovers story with vampires! A very interesting story and characters with depth. I loved the twists. While some I guessed, they were well written.

I can't wait to drive deeper into this world.

This is a short tale of mystery, magic and romance. Nora's parents have been murdered by a Hesperine and she wants revenge. However, she finds more than she bargained for in this steamy romance.

There are a lot of different ideas which were explained well, without dumping information. It was the usual trope of girl meets boy etc, but there was a decided twist to this tale running smoothly.

All in all, a pleasant short read and I would look out for more by this author.

I recieved an advanced copy from Book Siren, all views are my own.

This is another fabulous work of Vela Roth. I literally adore this world she has created and fall in love with each and every story she publishes. Every story has something new to offer and each plot is very entertaining to read. Blood Tribute started with being enemies and ended up being a soulmate. These vampires are passionate to their cores and leave no stone unturned in making things right. Do read this short novella and fall in love with the world.

I absolutely LOVED it !!

I am not new to the world of Hesperine's as I read the Blood Grace series about two years ago and loved it, if Vela Roth is writing it then I will be reading it and this novella did not disappoint.

This is a fun size, quick enemies to lovers story where Nora, who is the last heir in a long line of Holy Knights wishes to become a Dame, to save her Family's castle. While, Dav is a Hesperine, who seeks to fulfil his bothers last wish.

A deal is made, a bond forged and the truth is revealed.

The tension between Nora & Dav, is what gripped me and I didn't want to put the book down, I just wish it was longer. I think this is a great snippet into what readers can expect of the Blood Grace series. Vela Roth has built a beautiful world, which draws you in and makes you feel part of it. It is written incredibly well and I would 100% recommend this.

I can not wait for her next book to come out, I am hoping that it isn't too long of a wait.

I am so thankful, I was accepted to receive an ARC for free to read and review. This spicy little novella is just what I needed to get me out of my reading slump.

thank you to the author and booksirens for sending me a copy of this book to review! all opinions are my own.

this novella had great potential, but sadly ended up falling a little bit flat for me.

one of my main gripes with this was that it was too short. i really enjoyed the world and the characters, and would have loved to read a full size novel with these characters and get to know them better. this just ended up feeling a little bit rushed, especially the ending, and i wished it was fleshed out more. some of the dialogue also felt kind of cringy and unnatural at times, not at all how people actually talk, so that threw me off a little.

other than that i did really enjoy this novella and had lots of fun reading it. this had everything i wanted: enemies to lovers, intriguing world building, vampire mmc and a very interesting magic system. i have yet to read the blood grace series, but after this i really want to pick it up, because this novella left me wanting more.

(2.5 stars)

I am not sure where to begin with this review. I think this had good potential but it fell a bit flat. I suspect it would have been a DNF for me had it been any longer than a novella.

It reminded me a bit of Adrian Blue’s monster romances, but a lot longer. And that isn’t really a good thing… Blue’s monster romances are very quick, captivating and hot. This was less so on all accounts.

I think the best way to describe it is that it seems like something I would have written. The words are right, the grammar is decent, but it just lacks oomph. Some things felt rushed. Some dialogue was just a bit cringy. It didn’t show as much as tell, especially towards the end. It wasn’t a bad book; it just isn’t the right book for me.

The spice, though! Had me fanning myself. This was absolutely amazing.

There was tension, chemistry, and danger. The danger zone was dangerous for Nora. She either holds herself together or she gives in. I would have lost and became Dav’s kind. He was just, uff!

I loved the background of the story and how these two individuals wanted the same thing.

I enjoyed getting to the end after everything that happened. I do want more from it. Sometimes books are just too short for my(our) liking. Overall, it was amazing.

BLOOD TRIBUTE
NOVELLA | BLOOD GRACE SERIES

A petite peek into the Blood Grace world, Vela Roth's Blood Tribute masterfully tells a tale of forbidden love with depth, drama, and emotional flair. Coming in under a hundred pages, there is nothing brief, slight or delicate about this novella, as it immediately snatches one right into its immersive pages with a commanding force and unravels at the perfect pace. Centered on the conflicted yet courageous Nora, this story begins as a thrilling dance of revenge and retribution between a pair of fiery enemies but the tricky hands of fate have other plans at play.

A vibrant prose told through the spirited perspectives of Nora & Dav, Blood Tribute details the story of a tenacious woman who is committed to breaking the chains of her oppressive heritage through the most dangerous means. As she concocts a plan to earn her freedom by besting a vicious Hesperine (a unique and ultra-swoony take on a vamp) through clever bargains, Nora soon realizes her grave underestimation of the cunning and hypnotizing ways of these immortal beings.

An immersive and intensely sensual experience, the twisty bargains, agreements and interactions that soon unfurl between Nora and Dav will rouse a stunning range of emotions while both characters impressively come to life through compelling dialogue. Far more than just a physical exchange, the effortless bond that develops between these dynamic leads is so intensely intertwined that every tension-filled exchange and moving confession radiates off the page and further colors this pair in more compelling hues. Much like the intricate emotional connections, Roth has such a talent of crafting spicy scenes where pulse-racing elements weave brilliantly within the meaningful foundations of a romantic pair. Witnessing Nora’s strong-willed spirit finally find the love, appreciation and adoration she so deeply desired in a figure she once assumed as her greatest enemy remains one of my favorite reveals in this short yet powerful read.

Every chapter is brimming with captivating details across these characters’ troubled pasts, their complex psyches and the well-rendered world against which this tale thrives. A short yet stunning glimpse into Roth’s exquisite Blood Grace series, this novella beautifully presents the intricate, enchanting and truly creative world and character connects that wait in the pages of full-length novels in this unforgettable series.

FINAL VERDICT // An outstanding addition to the Blood Grace series, Blood Tribute is an addictive tale that packs a wealth of emotion, passion and traumatic bonding into its slim set of pages. An engrossing story that will make one forget time, Vela’s magnificent storytelling will have all enthusiastically turning these pages while savoring every word. A clever fusion of tantalizing seduction, swoon-worthy romance and heartbreaking histories, Blood Tribute is an absolute treasure in the Blood Grace world that is sure to please all those who stumble upon it. Simply fantastic!

Thank you so much to author Vela Roth and BookSirens for kindly sending along an ARC of this novella. All notes, thoughts & final verdicts are freely and authenticity shared.
