Ever since Jordan Billette’s father, Jeremy, died unexpectedly when she was eight years old, Jordan and her paternal grandmother (‘Grannie’) have shared a special bond by creating a tribute to Jeremy: a scrapbook that documents the important milestone of Jordan’s life from her first report card with letter grades, to her first kiss, to graduating from college.
Upon graduating from college, only one significant milestone remains; her wedding day. When Grannie is diagnosed with aggressive cancer, she makes one dying wish to Jordan. Grannie wants to watch Jordan walk down the aisle. Not engaged? Not even dating? No problem. Grannie has a plan. She signs Jordan up for a dating service—dinner dates twice per week will surely turn up a soul mate!
JT Murphy has been best friends with Jordan’s older brother Jared since they were in diapers. Grannie wisely insists Jordan meet her dates at the restaurant where JT waits tables because she needs protection from unworthy jerks. JT is more than happy to help; Jordan is like a sister to him. So why does her smile light up his evening whenever he sees her and why is he noticing that she has curves in all the right places? As the wedding draws near…JT wonders if it’s his heart that needs protecting…from the pain of potentially losing Jordan forever.
I was born and raised by deaf parents in the Metro-Detroit area along with four siblings. Growing up in a house full of children, there was never a dull moment! We all inherited the reading gene from our father, who is a voracious reader. And the reading gene continues strong in my own two sons. I'm happily married (second time is a charm) to a patient and loving man who always cheers me on from the side-line to pursue my dreams. What more can a girl want?
Very sweet and short enough to enjoy within the span of a couple hours. I love friends to lovers stories, especially when they're taboo, like a brothers little sister. This packed both! Jordan was Jared's little sister. Back from college and looking for a teaching job back in her home town, she reconnects with her brothers best friend, JT. But being back also brings some sadness for Jordan. Her grandmother is terminally ill and desperately wants her granddaughter to marry before she passes away. Through a series of blind dates all taking place at the pub where JT works, Jordan is trying to fulfill her grandma's wishes. Luckily JT is there to look out for Jordan as well...or is he?
JT has raised himself and his younger brother for the past 6 years since his parents death. He's finishing up his masters degree in accounting and helping his brother Derek prepare for college. Helping look after Jordan while she's on her blind dates soon takes a turn for the sensual. She's always been his best friends sister, but why hasn't he noticed how beautiful she is? Maybe he's the man for Jordan, maybe she's the woman for him. I really liked this! It was straight forward romance with little angst but a sweet and quick moving plot line. I loved Jordan and her endless ways to get JT to face his feelings. I especially loved the scene where he does! Hilarious. And all along, Jordan's grandmother was playing her cards right, so cute.
Of course, there has to be some drama, what with Jordan and JT finally getting together. It may have seemed a little unrealistic and unlikely, but it was done in a way that made it all the more believable. Jared wasn't too happy at first, but I'm very excited to read his story with Leah, Jordan's best friend. Really sweet and sensual, this was exactly what I needed after having read something very heavy.
Before anything else, I want to make it clear that back in May 2014 (when it was newly published), I gave this a novel a try and ended up not being able to finish it because it turned out to be 'not my cup of tea'. Less than a year later, I decided to give it a try again and WOW, I loved it! I just told R.C. how awesome time can change a person's perspective. Apparently, I was a picky reader back then. Now, not so much. ;)
This short novel is all fun, charming and sweet romantce!
Grannie's last wish before she succumbs to her illness is to see Jordan walking down the aisle. So she decides to sign her up on a dating service where Jordan goes on a date with a different guy every week. But to be on the safe side, her dates were set where JT, her brother's best friend, worked so he can keep an eye on her. But... their sudden attraction was hard to ignore and their new feelings for each other.
I adored ALL of the characters, most especially Jordan, JT, and of course, Grannie. I wish she was my Grannie! Hehe. The story was heartwarming. I was hooked from the beginning, to be honest, I didn't stop reading until I finished the book, which was around 3am. :)
Jordan and JT have know each other all their lives. JT's best friend is Jared who is Jordan's older brother. Grannie was diagnosed with Cancer and she knew that she wouldn't live to see Jordan fall in love, prepare for her wedding, and get married. So, Grannie decides to sign Jordan up with a dating service. While Jordan is out on these dates Grannie makes sure that the dates are in a restaurant where JT is working.
Grannie also sets it up for Jordan to attend a wedding and see what is required for her scrapbook. Which requires Jordan to have a fiance. JT steps in and they attend the wedding venue plus, share their first steamy kiss when the photographer asks to take photo's together. This starts a whole new Chapter in their current relationship.
Now, most of Jordan's dates are bombs, until she meets Steve. They have quite a bit in common with each other since they are both in the educational field. Now, JT also knows Steve. He knows how Steve works, and isn't too happy with the prospect of Jordan getting close to anyone but him.
This is a very easy, great read. Makes you wonder what will happen. I was asked to read it by a mutual friend and I loved it. 5 out of 5 stars.
Date Night by R.C. Matthews was a perfect way to kick-off my summer reading, and it’s a book that I enjoyed pretty much from start to finish. Romantic, funny, with just a touch of heat, it was uncomplicated and lighthearted romance at it’s best.
Jordan, our heroine, is trying to appease her beloved ailing grandmother’s request to be present at her wedding. In order to accommodate this request, she must find a groom A.S.A.P. Jordan joins an online dating service to meet the man of her dreams. She takes all her blind dates to a restaurant where her brother’s best friend JT waits tables in order to get his two cents on all the prospective grooms. Through a series of disastrous blind dates, Jordan finds herself looking for her significant other in unexpected places.
This is a classic tale of a man and woman who have known one another their whole lives, one day waking up and acknowledging a powerful attraction between them that won’t be ignored. Although initially it seems wrong, when they finally give into temptation, the chemistry between them is very, very right.
Told in alternating viewpoints, I wish the author would have made it clearer when transitioning back in forth between JT and Jordan’s thoughts. I was always able to figure things out rather quickly, but it did feel a bit confusing and random.
I enjoyed many parts of this book, but one of the best parts is when Jordan’s brother, Jared, learns that his best friend and sister are seeing one another in a very non-platonic way. I chuckled many times as Jordan, Jared, and JT interacted with one another.
The way this book ends is such a payoff, and I left this book feeling satisfied and entertained.
If you are looking for something light, funny, and heartwarming, look no further, Date Nighthas everything you’re looking for.

The first thing that went through my head when I finished this book?
Awwwww!!
This story is a quick read full of romance, wit and a charming sweetness. The lively characters are easy to love and root for. The love is endearing - an altogether wonderful tale of friends to lovers. I am anxious to read the rest of the series and I highly recommend.
The only reason it lacked that half a star is a matter of personal preference. My five star reads have a ton of angst and conflict to ensure that the journey is full of anxiety and fear that there may not be a HEA in store.
But RC Matthews is a great storyteller of very beautiful, if fantastical, romance. I highly recommend for anyone who wants a silly grin plastered firmly across their face.
This was a fun and cute read. Definitely a good in between book.
It was way over the top and had a lot of cheesy dialogue. It was short enough that I wasn't too bored or all that annoyed, but still had quite a few eye roll moments.
The Grannie in this book reminded me of the Grandma in Rachel Van Dyken's 'The Bet' series. They both tried to meddle in their grandkids love lives.
This one was way too predictable. But again, I did enjoy it because it was a fluffy read that was perfect when you're looking for something light and fun.
The first part was so funny. I confess to laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes reading about the date that picked his nose and then did the pull my finger! Frankly, I so needed a good laugh after the last horrible 2 weeks.
I got a bit frustrated by J.T. acting like a jerk, but at least he realized it immediately and felt bad. I also got a bit ticked off at Jordan because I have a real issue with using another person to make someone jealous. Luckily, she did not lead Steve on too long. Jared (Jordan's brother) was a dick at one point too. Grannie, mom and Derek and Leah were fun colorful background characters. Overall, I would recommend it as a fun little humorous romance that most will enjoy.
Some quotes:
“By the way, do you guys ever wash underneath your tables?” “Shut up!” Mike’s eyes widened to the size of half dollar coins. “He didn’t go fishing and leave some bait behind did he?” “A fairly sizable one far as I could tell.”
This one had definitely failed to launch out of boyhood and into manhood. Pull my finger? Grabbing hold of the edge of the table, I carefully stood and made my way back to the bar. I definitely needed another drink to make it through dessert.
...recalling one of Grannie’s favorite quotes from Ernest Hemingway which she shared with me on my twenty-first birthday. “Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.”
A short but oh so sweet friends to lovers story with a meddling grannie as a bonus! I do love grannies... Grannie has a dying wish to see her granddaughter walk down the aisle before she passes... so, her meddling ways leads Jordan into a string of seriously bad dates through a dating service. Some of them were definitely cringe worthy. Except for the male stripper... yep, he had to be worth at least a second date! Just sayin... :) Grannie puts JT, long term family friend, in charge of supervising these dates to make sure all goes well... but, JT finds that sitting on the outside looking in isn't really where he wants to be. I did find the whole planning a wedding without a groom a little mind boggling at first... didn't know how I felt about that. But, things come full circle by the end and everything fell into place just like dear 'ole grannie had hoped. Well... sort of... plans changed but I think she was still satisfied with the outcome. She was definitely a strong influence on all those around her... wise and well respected. They all wanted her to have her dying wish. Endearing characters... heartfelt storyline... with a big dose of sexual tension to make things a little interesting! This is a book for those who want something short and quick to fill up an afternoon that also has a nice little HEA...
Many thanks to the author for the complimentary copy!
I very much enjoyed this story a fun adventure to a HEA between two people that have known each other forever. Jordon Billette lost her father when she was young and becomes very close to her grandmother Grannie they start a scap book which contains all the good things in Jordon's life but when Grannie becomes ill her wish is to see Jordon walk down the isle with the love of her life so she sets up dinner dates with an agency but she must go to the resaurant that TJ Murphy works at TJ is Jordon's brother Jared's best friend and is more like family than friend he lost his parents when he was 19 and bought his younger brother up and has worked very hard and is determined to not have any serious relationships till he has finished college and is working. But Jordon deceides that TJ is the one and TJ is so drawn to Jordon that he cannot ignore it. This one will have you smiling throughout their journey the characters help to make this one a great read.

I will be honest - I thought this book was going to be some silly fluffy romance story. I usually read romantic suspense. But sometimes it is necessary for me to take a break and read a light romance. Date Night was a WONDERFUL surprise! It was funny and romantic. As I read this cute book, I was laughing, smiling and generally feeling very happy. It is true that some of events unrealistic, such as Jordan taking JT as her "pretend husband" while she planned the wedding. But books are not always meant to be real; they are meant to dream by. And this book definitely made me dream of handsome, kind and generous JT. Jordan was a strong but family oriented woman who respected and loved her "Granny." This is what I like to call a "feel-good" book. When I was done, I decided to buy the rest of the series!

R.C. Matthew's, Date Night was cute and sweet, if a little predictable. Jordan's grandma, Grannie, is diagnosed with cancer and her last wish is to see her granddaughter married. So, with Grannie meddling in the sidelines--and paying for an expensive dating service--Jordan embarks on a journey to find The One while planning a wedding she doesn't yet have a groom for.
I found this book humorous and heart warming, though I do wish there would have been just a little more spice between Jordan and J.T., and the issues they faced felt a little too easy to overcome. Regardless, it was well worth the read, and I will definitely check out this author's work again in the future.

'Date Night' is a nice, light read - perfect material for when reading time is lacking.
Although some of the sexual references are a bit description-heavy, something I myself am not a fan of, I enjoyed the journey of the central characters and had some laugh-out-loud moments on the way. Surprisingly, I rather liked the switching of points-of-view, as it allows the reader to get into the heads of both main characters instead of just one, and the little curveballs Grannie threw the characters were very cleverly-conceived.
This was actually a really cute read. I loved JT and Jordan. The characters were all likable and easy to follow. The plot is one that I love no matter how much it's done. Meddling Grandma's, best friends, love. This is a fun read and well worth the dollar to pick it up and read! The only reason it's not 5 stars, is because I expected a little steamier. The blurb says sexual content, but you really only get 1 page at the end. I would have loved to see more.
A very cute, sweet read. Would have been a 4 star book for me except for editing issues in the last 1/4 of the book. In telling part of the story from the heroine's point of view, the author refers to her mother as Mrs. B instead of "mom." With the point of view changing back and forth between the main characters, the mistake pulled me from the story, especially since it happened several times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very sweet, sensual romance novel. It is well written and has characters you can totally relate to.
Jordan's grandma signs her up with a dating service so she can meet the man of her dreams. Grandma is dying and wants to see Jordan walk down the aisle. But all is not as it seems. This book has it's share of twists and turns. And Jordan dates a few frogs before finally finding her Prince Charming and her happily ever after.
A short and sweet story about a girl who falls in love with her brothers best friend while planning a wedding without a groom. Overall, I liked the story. My issues come with while switching first person, the writer had the girl, Jordan, referring to her own mom as Mrs. Billette. Also, I only think my grandmother uses the word bosom, not 25 year old men. Some of the language didn't fit the age of the characters. I still think it's a good story overall, but it needs some work.
First, a confession. I am not a person that normally reads Romance novels. I’m not even sure what caused me to read this one. But that said it was a decent read with engaging characterization and while the plot was fairly predictable it wasn’t without its twists and turns and wasn’t forced into dipping its toes into cheap erotica. I enjoyed reading it a lot more than I thought I would and would read more by this author.
I adored Jordan and how she interacts with her Grannie. She has a lovely relationship with her. And then she falls in love with JT. This story is sensational and has a very solid grounding in reality!
I found the author, R. C. Matthews a very fresh and unique voice blending this Contemporary and Chicklit!
Absolutely amazing. This book had me from the beginning and was read in a matter of a few hours because I couldn't put it down. It is the perfect true love story about 2 friends that grew up together and realized they loved each other with a little push from some family members. Will definantly read again
This was a quick, enjoyable read. The author created a sweet romance that I managed to read in one day. The alternate viewpoints gave the reader insight into the progressing romance as Jordon and JT struggled with their feelings and the potential problems they create.
This story was kinda short but a great read at the same time. The characters are easy to relate to & fun. Date Night proves you never know where you'll find your one love. I will be looking to read more stories in this series. I was provided with a free copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
Wonderfully written! Smart! Funny! This quick read lets you escape from everyday life! I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at parts! R.C. Matthews does a phenomenal job of mixing "Every Day" date experiences within this story.
This was an enjoyable read. Perfect for curling up with a hot drink by the fire and adding a bit of warmth and spice to a winter's evening. Lovable characters draw you into an adorable story about love, family and friendship. Warm fuzzies (and a few spicier moments) abound.
This story depicts a young girl's journey to adulthood and her quest for happy ever after. And her meddling with a kind heart Grandmother! I loved this story. It was a fast and easy read.
