True North #2

Finding Us: Jules and Nate

Rate this book
"When you're lost... True North"

The North brothers were hell on wheels-adrenaline-junky bad boys. You’d think they had a death wish—every one of them—but they didn’t really, they just got off on the thrill of pushing every limit, that gravity or any other force told them they couldn’t conquer. What they weren't prepared for were the women that would steal their hearts.

True North Book 2 Finding Us:
Nathaniel Morrisey thinks he has a handle on his affections for the one woman he’s ever cared about, Julia North, who happens to be his boss’s daughter and best friend’s little sister. But Jules is about to blow that calm self-control he's had a tight grip on all to hell.

The North brothers are wild, adrenaline-junky thrill-seekers who thrive on challenge, speed and danger. Their little sister, Jules, is a sweet, quiet, bookworm who’s been overprotected all her life by her hulking big brothers … but she is a North after all, so she has her own wild streak—a secret that none of them expected, especially not Nate!

Nate's desire to protect Jules—especially from himself and the overwhelming emotions he feels for her—have waged a war inside of him. He is plagued by painful secrets and shame because of a childhood full of abuse he knows he can never escape. How can he possibly love a woman like Julia North the way she deserves to be loved?

Julia North knows Nathaniel Morrisey is the only one for her, but with a past like a dark shadow, Nate's as turbulent as the wild horses he rides.

Will Jules be strong enough to hold on unconditionally, or will she decide it’s finally time to let go?

Oh Allie my darling, you really outdid yourself with this second book!
While I liked the first book in this series, I absolutely and utterly fell in love with the second book.

You are a true sweetheart and I love talking to you on a daily basis, or stalking as you would like to call it ;-)

Jules and Nate are both uniquely written characters. I didn't know Jules all that well in the first book, she was just the friend of Livie for me. Now, Nate I fell in love with the moment he entered in the bar scene of book 1. Jules is not the shy girl you might think she is, no she a naughty alter ego, which one you ask - Read and find out! Nate is a hot cowboy with a broken soul, which has been caused by his screw up of a father. Will they heal each other or will this all blow into pieces? It will not be an easy ride, I’ll tell you that much.

Their relationship will make you laugh, cry, shout, .. And let you feel a lot more emotions and beyond! Let’s not forget the fantastic music that Allie included in every chapter, please listen to it while reading the book as it will make it even better.

What I loved about their story is the way how they grew back to each other after a catastrophic event tore them apart last time. Jules will go above and beyond to get Nate to notice her once again, you’ll love every moment of their crazy ass ride! Once they finally do get together, man, hot damn! :D

I really urge you to give this book an honest chance and hope you write a review, no matter how long, once you are finished!

5 AMAZING STAR THOUGHTS

AHHH! Allie has done it again! I never thought she could top the first book, but she most definitely has!! Nate and Jules love has been growing for many years, but neither of them knew how the other felt. And when they come together it is beautiful and healing… and of course HOT! I mean really, he is a sexy cowboy! They are soul-mates to every sense of the word. And their love story is very real and relatable.

"I wasn't the woman men looked at and saw feisty or sexy or strong … they looked at me and saw sweet, nice, little sister material."

Julia "Jules" North has always been known as the little sister to the North brothers, and she is ready for everyone to see her as a woman. Especially Nathaniel "Nate" Morrisey! She has been in love with him for years and knows he is the only one for her. But she has no idea how to make him see that she is all grown up now, and wants him! She wants him to love her unconditionally. They have always been close because he is like family, Nate is best friends with her brothers and she is best friends with his sister, Livie. (You know Livie from book 1…. You don't? Well go read her story) But now that Livie and Jake have found their HEA, things have been off between Nate and Jules. And she is beginning to think she needs to just move on, but how?

"…I wanted Nate to want me for me. Geeky, book smart, gentle me. But what if that wasn't enough?"

Nate has been in love with Jules for years, but how can he ever be enough for her? He can't. He is dark and damaged from his childhood, and would never put that on Jules. She deserves the world. But when Julia North decides she wants him and begins to show it, how can he keep his feelings hidden? Can he keep control? I am going to go with … no! (I will just say that this scene is AMAZING, Julia knocks his socks off… oh and p.s. I love Piper!)

"I'm going to make you want me so badly, you'll never let me go."

When Nate and Jules finally find their way to each other, they know they could never be apart again. They complete it each other in a way they never knew they were looking for. But life is never easy and their love story is a bumpy road. Nate has never been in a relationship or loved someone like he loves Jules, and knows he is going to mess it up. Can Jules hold on and be strong enough when the road gets bumpy? Or will she finally decide it is time to let go and move on?

"It feels like I've been waiting my entire life to get you truly alone."

How can you not fall in love with Nate and Jules?? Sexy, protective, loving cowboy and a strong-willed, smart, country woman? What's not to love!!! There is no way I could pick sides in the True North series so far, because the men and the stories are so different! I love NATE & JAKE! But I will say… that I am already in LOVE with Sam (yummy) and can't wait for book 3! If you haven't started this series yet, what are you waiting for?!?! This is a MUST READ! Stop what you are doing and READ True North, you won't be disappointed!

After reading book one in this series I couldn't wait for Jules and Nate story!

Julia North is the little sister of the North brothers. She has secretly been in love with her older brother’s best friend Nathaniel Morrisey for years, which is also her best friend’s brother! Got that! LOL. Jules is a shy, keep to herself kind of girl whose heart is secretly breaking because she wants the love and attention from the hot bull rider Nate. She is so tired of watching him flirt with other girls and randomly hook up. After several attempts for him to notice her, she couldn't take it anymore and decides to confront him.

“What’s wrong with me? I know what I look like; I’m at least pretty as those girls you let hang all over you. Then why not me Nate? Huh? Why not me?”

Nate Morrisey suffers internally from the abuse his alcoholic dad did to him. His mom had never been part of his life either. He thinks he is not worthy of being loved and the one girl he does love deserves better than him. So he did what he had to and pushed her away in order to protect her. He is a hardworking and successful young man that buries his true feelings. Nate was caught off guard when Julia made her next move. He panicked and was scared so he knew he had to let her know how he felt.

“I've always loved you Jules.”
“I don’t how to love you the right way. And I know you could do so much better than me…I've just been trying to protect you all this time.”

Seeing these two finally communicate their feelings was a relief. I will admit it was frustrating at times because I wanted them to do just admit their feelings. But in the end, I understood how Nate acted the way he did. Being told you’re not good enough and that he was a worthless all his child life can do a number on someone. Seeing the conflict Nate dealt with was heartbreaking. To see how he viewed himself was just so sad. I enjoyed watching Jules character grow. For her to be young, she knew what she wanted in life and she wasn't going to let Nate try and push her away any more so she pushed back. It wasn't always easy for them but they never gave up.
Their story was beautiful. Nate was such a sweetheart who loved hard when it came to Jules. He finally was putting his demons to rest so he could be the man he wants to be for Jules. Jules proved to Nate she loved him unconditionally and that he was a worthy man. She was everything he needed and he was her steel to her flint! ;)

I love this series and I’m anxious to see who book 3 is going to be about. I loved Caleb’s girlfriend Piper! She is a force to be reckon with! LOL or even Jules older brother Sammy the hot NASCAR driver or Josh the MMA fighter! EEEEkkkk! I can’t wait!

Allie has done it again.
This story ripped out my heart and put it back again. It's a breath of fresh air and the writing was done beautifully.
Nate and Julie have always love each other, but Julie was to shy to make it known. She really comes into herself and takes the bull by the horns and shows Nate that he is the one and only for her.
Nate has had a ruff child hood and doesn't think he is good enough for Julie. But when Julie plans on moving and let Nate go for good, he wakes up and realizes that he can't live without her.
But will his past over take his future? Will Julie's love be enough to help him heal? This is a MUST READ!!!! I can't wait to read more about the North brothers

O.M.G. I LOVE THIS SERIES

O.M.G. I LOVE THIS SERIES

How am I ever going to survive? I absolutely love Julia and Nate. And I love what Julia does for a living *wink, wink*. The love story is so warm that you get that yummy feeling all over. You also get to catch up with the other characters from book 1. The North Family is my book family. With the description of the places they were you could just crawl into the story and actually feel yourself there. The ending is unique in that it is a HEA or is it? I can't wait for book 3.

Wow, Allie Juliette Mousseau has done it again! Believable characters and a story that will at times break your heart...

Nate and Jules are perfect together once they can both get past the secrets and baggage. Yes, even Jules has a secret but I'm not telling - you'll have to read the book for yourself!

Anxiously waiting for the next True North book... Hurry up Allie!

"I wanted Nate to want me for me. Geeky, book smart, gentle me."

I was beyond thrilled to receive an ARC of this little beauty. When it landed in my inbox Sunday morning my original plans for the day came to a screeching and dramatic halt. I was no longer an in-demand-mummy. I wasn't a cook, a maid or a wife...I was a completely enraptured audience of one.

Finding Us takes place a year after Livie and Jake from the first book finally got together. This time we follow shy and introverted Jules North on her quest to get the love of her life, playboy bull-rider Nate Morrisey to realise how in love with our heroine he actually is- And my god how he loves her, he just suffers so much internally with an inferiority complex perpetuated by the abuse dealt at the hands of his alcoholic and now jailed father that he doesn't believe he is good enough for wealthy and innocent sweet Julia.

Nate is a sweetheart in this book. He's beautiful, broody, uncommunicative and often down on himself but you really feel his conflict in trying to protect Jules in the long run by staying away from her and Jules too was a protagonist I could instantly identify with. Nineteen years old and wanting the euphoria of attaining her first love but just a little too shy to try (unless alcohol and a bit of Jessie James get you pumped up to deliver the goodies!!). She loved Nate enough for the both of them, to fight for a chance at being 'them' in turn allowing her as a character to grow and come into her own personality.

It's another fantastic bit of writing from Allie Juliette Mousseau. She knows how to keep dialogue to the point, witty and steamy- a perfect combination in any N.A novel. You connect with the characters, especially all the North boys and a fantastic new addition in the shape of Barrel racing Piper, a feisty and mouthy red-head (can't wait to see more of her).

In addition to a brilliant book there is also a mini soundtrack and playlist. I don't know about you but I love when authors include a playlist but even better Allie has added original songs written and sang beautifully by her, which just resonates wonderfully within the goings on in the book and heightens emotions within certain situations.

Finding Us is similar to the rodeo show the gang compete at. You just jump right on into the story, hold on tight for all your worth as the highs and lows buck your emotions and just pray that you make it through to that HEA at the end. I honestly can't get enough of the North brood and I'm super excited to get to the next book in the series after having devoured each book so far inside a day.
Beautifully written and a definite 5 stars.

4.5 Stars!
*Sigh* God I love those North boys! I really don't think I will EVER get enough of them… and Nate too. These guys are HOT, SEXY and absolutely AMAZING! I would be more than happy to have any one of them show up on my doorstep (or all of them).

One of the things I loved about this book (other than the men) is how the main focus was on Jules and Nate, but it also continued the story and included all the characters from book 1. The story was great, the characters were great, and the writing was incredible as always. Allie had definitely set the bar high in book 1, and book 2 did not let you down. The ONLY complaint I had about the entire book was that Nate and Jules relationship seemed to move a bit too fast for me. I know they basically grew up together and everything was a long time coming, but I would have liked to see things progress a little slower (this is only my personal opinion). Other than that, I can honestly say I love every single aspect of the story.

You got a much more in-depth view into Nate's childhood, and were able to see just how messed up things were for him and Livie while growing up, and were able to understand why the hell Nate was being so damn stubborn when it came to accepting his feelings for Jules. His so-called father had broken him since he was a child, and he just cannot shake what was basically branded into his mind… he was not worthy, he would never be good enough, etc etc. But, this could be the furthest from the truth, and once he begins to truly open up to Jules, you get to see Nate at his true potential. This is not to say there were not MANY times I wanted to punch Nate in his handsome face, and kick and scream and curse at him for being so stupid, but at the same time you couldn't blame him after everything.

The story, although it follows the main storyline form book 1, is very different. Instead of hot military man, you have sexy cowboy. Where Jake and Livie were re-united loves, Nate and Jules were lovers who never previously confessed their feelings. It was not the tear jerker which book 1 had been, but it was still full of deep rooted emotions. And this is one of the greatest things about Allie's books… they make you FEEL!

I was thrilled to finally get some closure with these two characters and I cannot wait to see whats in store for book 3. I must admit however that I did kinda miss Jake. I am not sure that any of the men in these books can steal my heart away from him!

**I received a copy, as part of the blog tour, in exchange for an honest review**

Initial Thoughts: This was a really cute, yet also hard story that was hilarious at times and sad at times but a good story nonetheless.

The Characters: Julia (Jules) is a really sweet, shy, and funny character who could also be outgoing if her friends convinced her too. I loved how she was understanding of people and she was really easy to connect to. She is a very levelheaded nineteen year old and that made her a really strong character that really added to the story. She also has this secret which I thought was also a great part of the story!

Nate is a great guy with some not so great moments. For instance, he's always like Jules but it took him awhile to own up to it, now there were reasons behind everything, but still!! Of course there are other parts to the story and overall, I thought Nate was an amazing person.

Livie and Piper. The first book is about Livie and while she isn't in this book too much, I still loved her because she has such a great personality and it's hard not too love her. Piper was so funny and I loved her very outgoing persona as well. Livie and Piper together = Jules not being shy = hilarious scenes!

The Story: Now that I think about it, it's kind of complex. It starts off as a story about two people who've always loved each other, yet never knew the other did, even though everyone around them could clearly see it. But it develops further than that because Jules and Nate do get together so after that, it's a lot about them just knowing each other further and learning to work together and get through difficult situations and it all made for a great story. I loved how well Nate and Jules were able to work together and handle themselves and really become better people through each other!

End Thoughts: Great story and characters. This book has really entertaining and funny but was also able to knock you down a few pegs when tough situations were brought up. You can read this book without having read the first one but the characters are all really great so I don't see why you should miss out on the first one either!! 4 stars.

Finding Home was an amazing start to True North series and it was exciting to be back in this world and learning more about Nate and Jules, who I met in the first book. What I enjoyed was the new direction this book headed in… straight into the world of bull riding!!

Finding Us is mostly a sweet book. I knew they had a connection in the previous book, but in this book they worked on dealing with their feelings and putting their hearts on the line. I giggled at the little things that Jules decided to do to snag Nate’s attention because she was sick of waiting for him. Nate I wanted to shake sometimes as he couldn’t see what was in front of him!

I was able to learn more about the rest of the North brothers in this book too and I liked getting to know them. Caleb has been Nate’s best friend in Jake’s absence and I am keen to see more of him. I briefly met Sam and got a glimpse into Jake… and I’m still a little curious about Will. It was also nice to see more of the North parents and the influence they play in both Jules and Nate’s lives.

I was so swept away in the fun story that I forgot about Nate’s demon’s until late in the book. I knew about his past but not the extent of it. Learning about them was heartbreaking and I just wanted them to work through it together. Allie Juliette Mousseau creates passionate characters that have deep love for their partners and are willing to fight for what they want. I’m excited to see who gets the next book!!

Let's just say Nate is a tad bit slow when it comes to Jules's feelings, "all the words Jules had just thrown at me were going off inside of my mind like pinballs, but my game was on tilt. She was crying...no sobbing...over me!" See he's a slowa**. Sometimes a girl just needs that shock factor and she gives Nate a big one, "Nate quickly moved his hands to catch and stabilize me in this position, and when he did, his rough calloused hands found my bare a**. "Oh, eff!" The words released like air from his chest. "I knew you weren't wearing anything under this." When Nate lets down his barriers and let's loose the boy sure is flirty, "he had hardly dried off, and the water droplets fell over the lines of his muscles. Seeing me sprawled out over the bed he winked. "Are you waiting for me?" He also gets ballsy when it comes to letting everyone know, "see this, little boys, this is what men do when they fall in love. They put a ring on it" _ I squealed as Nate lifted me up over his shoulder while the six of us sauntered down the busy strip - "and play for keeps. You kids run along if you need to, I got all I'll ever need right here." I'm really looking forward to Sam's story that boy is such a damn horndog.

I received this book to review on Confessions of a Book Geek, via a promotional book tour.

I dived straight into this book after finishing Book One - True North: Finding Home. Maybe it's because I read them straight after each other, but I found the relationships between Jules and Nate, and Jake and Livie, to have quite a few similarities. The way the characters behaved together and the issues faced, it felt like the characters could have stepped into each others stories. Initially, I thought I preferred Livie to Jules, but now I've had a chance to think about it I'm not so sure. I can't decide between the males either, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

The True North books are quick reads that I would recommend to fans of the romance/erotic genre, for a full review click here

True North: Finding Us is the second book in the True North series. It can be read as a standalone. True North: Finding Home was first book in the series and the characters do overlap in the books.

Finding Us is Nate and Jules' story. It is told in their dual POVs. Jules is Nate's sister's best friend and she is also Nate's friend's sister. To Nate that pretty much means she is off limits for relationship.

Jules and Nate both have feelings for each other but they don't know the other feels the same way. When they realize that their feelings are mutual, they finally get together.

They seem perfect for each other. Their relationship moves very quickly. Nate has had a hard childhood. He has a few issues from his past that he needs to work through. Jules has waited a long time to have Nate as hers and refuses to back down when Nate's demon return.

Jules and Nate's story is a great read!

I REALLY enjoyed this book!!! The characters were wonderful and the struggle Nate faced on a daily bases definitely pulled at my heartstrings. The fact that it all comes together the way it does was very well done. I loved how Nate was the one with the major demons instead of Jules being the one fighting demons. She was his healer and the only thing I wish was that there was more to their story! I didn't want it to end...

I really enjoyed this installment of the True North series but I have to say Julia and Nate's story has been my least favorite of all of the North family books. Nate at times treated Julia so badly but the whole North family was around which I loved. If you are looking for something lighter to read this series is great.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Nate and Julia’s story.
Julia is sweet and quiet, and she is Nate’s boss’s daughter. Nate is best friends with Julia’s overprotective brothers, and she is best friends with his sister. Julia has always loved Nate, and knows he is the one for her, and is anyone needs to be loved it is Nate.
This is a well written story which is emotionally charged, and has found family, friendships, angst, secrets, bad boy / good girl, turmoil, opposites attract, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartfelt, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Just bad. I can count on one hand the number of books I've started and not finished. I will be adding this to that very short list. I loved Josh's books and the first True North was good. I was really looking forward to these two finally getting together, but at 60% through this book there is nothing to interest me to finish. To rich, attractive people talking about how wonderful each other are. No conflict, no story but two boring characters doing a whole lot of nothing. I'm just going to skip to the 3rd book and hope for the best!

4.5 -- North star -- stars

This is my fourth read in a row of Allie and I could easily read many more. Each one is different and I’ve loved every single one. Allie is a very talented author. Her books are very romantic and emotional. Once they are a couple, they don’t separate. There always happens something at the end, but they fight together against it and they become a stronger couple because of it. The women are strong and fighters. The men are damaged and don’t think highly of themselves. This series isn’t very steamy. This book is not different. Another amazing read! I recommend every book of Allie.

In Finding Home, Livie’s dream came true when Jake finally admitted his feelings and they became one happy couple and now they are very much in love. In this book, it’s time for Jules’ dream to come true and become a couple with Nate. Nate is Livie’s brother and Jake’s best friend. Jules is Jake’s sister and Livie’s best friend.

Nate works on the ranch of the North family and he has also a successful career in bull riding. When he has to compete, Jules and the others go with him to support him. Things go bad between Jules and Nate, because Jules admits she has feelings for him and Nate doesn’t say one word. Jules is heartbroken and decides she wants to move to Seattle. Nate can’t handle the thought of not being near Jules and finally acts on his feelings. They fall in love and become a couple. They go on a little road trip to be alone and get to know everything about each other. After those days, they are even more in love than before.

Nate is a damaged man. He had a terrible childhood and he can’t stop thinking about it. He can’t move on. He feels he’s not good enough for Jules and tries to protect her from him. He really thinks he can’t love her like she deserves and that he will hurt her. There is also the age difference of seven years and Nate is afraid of her family’s reaction. Poor Nate, if he only saw how amazing he really is. He is a hard worker, cares about a lot of people and is protective. Everybody thinks he’s an amazing guy and they care about him. Jules had a crush on Nate for years, but she thinks she’s too young and too innocent. But she wants Nate and nobody else, so she tries to get his attention and in the end she just says what she thinks. She fights for him. Their relationship isn’t easy, but Jules is strong and determined to live happily ever after with Nate. Jules makes Nate talk about his past and insecurities and then she helps him move on. Nate loves Jules very much. They are just perfect for each other. It is unconditional love.

Jules has a secret and Nate has multiple secrets. You think you know everything at one point, but there is always more to know. I have to say, I didn’t get everything right about Jules’ secret. Both of them have tattoos or get a tattoo. The tattoos fit them perfect and the meaning behind them is beautiful! The only thing I had a problem with, was the slow start. They don’t get together fast and Nate’s mood wasn’t always the best. The chapter with his point of view came at the right time!

Nate and Jules have known each other pretty much their whole lives. Jules's life long best friend is Nate's sister who also happens to be her brothers new wife and Nate has always been best friends with her own brothers. She knows his life hasn't been the easiest and that his father is a piece of shit but she has always held a place in her heart for Nate. No other boy or man has compared to him and quite frankly she is getting just the slightest bit pissed that he continues to look upon her as a sister figure. Gathering all the courage she can and help from familiar and new friends, Jules decides enough is enough. She is going to make him see the woman she has grown to be and if not? Well she'll have her answer then maybe for once she can heal and move on from Nate!
Nate has watched Jules grow into the most beautiful woman, inside and out, that he has ever seen. She used to have a crush on him but now she's grown and stepping out from the shield of her over protective brothers, there will be men. Dating her. Kissing her. And it makes him sick! But he is a piece of worthless shit. He never has or ever will deserve a woman like Jules beside him. He's loved from afar for years but knows everything he has ever been told about him self is true and he can't be the man she deserves or would probably want. So he pushes her away at every chance. Until one day he might have pushed too much and the thought of losing Jules forever might be enough for him to want to fight to be the man she deserves!

This book has me torn. I enjoyed the book and will definitely be continuing with the series but the reason I only gave three stars was because the story lacked for me a little. Sorry! I love the characters this series has introduced so far and enjoyed the first installment. Whereas in the first book the lead female came across as a little childish in her humor and personality and sometimes the writing differed from young adult to mature adult, this book was much better and I preferred the leads in this one. For me the story, even though it flowed well, was very bland. There wasn't much to it just the same thing dragged out for chapters. I think it also would have benefited from having little flash backs from Jules and Nates little stolen moments that lead them to the point in their lives where the book begins. Even though we were introduced to them in the first book obviously there wasn't much detail about them and this book could have used that to add more depth and connection tot their forbidden love. Saying that though I DID enjoy the book, it was a very sweet love story with enjoyable characters and as said before I will definitely be looking out for the next in the series.

Another classic girl in love with brother's best friend kind of story. In this case her family is wealthy and his family is not, she has a loving family, he comes from a broken home, he feels that she is too perfect and he doesn't deserve her. She does everything she can to try and get his attention, but he keeps pushing away. He is really messed up because of his childhood and it's not easy. I liked the story because the characters had real depth, and it didn't have unnecessary drama, it was well thought and everything happened for a reason. There were a couple of things that did bother me, like how Nate refused to accept that Julie loved him, even when everyone told him so, even her, but it was kind of understandable because of his past.
