This was a fun cozy mystery. There was a castle, a lot of food, a murder, secrets, and tunnels. I was surprised by the ending and some of the secrets. I thought they would end differently. I am happy with the way the castle part of the story ended. There is also a little bit of romance. I like that it didn't take over the story.
The characters are wonderful and Mozart the Schnoodle is icing on the cake! It was one of those mysteries that just kept me guessing! It’s another great series from Greta Sinclair and hope there are many more adventures to come! Would highly recommend for folk who love cosy mysteries!
This was a well written book regarding a castle in Ireland and some of the history from the area. I enjoyed reading about all the characters as they came to life just by the way Greta Sinclair had written about them. Some of the character were only interested to make money off the misfortune of other people no matter what. But Darcy, Lizzi and Morard kept looking for all the clue to tell them what really happened at the castle. So many people were going to be hurt if the victim had not been murder. So there were lots of twist and turn to solve this murder. If you enjoy learn about other country and some of their history as well as solving a murder this book will be just what you want. I am looking forward to starting the next book in this series.
Absolutely loved this fast paced little mystery with Darcy, her best friend Lizzie, and Mozart who I'd like to see more! There are a ton of clues and threads scattered strategically throughout the book but I just couldn't connect them ~ which is great when you're a mystery lover! The last several chapters are intense as each suspect's possible motive and alibi are meticulously investigated. Suddenly, there's only one and it's solved with the reader standing in the dust! Brilliant writing! Looking forward to the next in the series 'A Very Scottish Murder.' Oh and the included recipes are delicious‼️😃
A high end dinner at Blackrock Castle ends with a hated man is found dead. He was a bully and blackmailed everyone he had dealings with. Darcy and Lizzie felt all the tension and uneasiness through the evening. They set out to discover the truth and all the secrets. With so many suspects and all the danger, can they find out who the killer is before they find another body? And the killer gets away with murder? A must read!! Twists and turns that you won't see coming and it'll keep you guessing until the end!!
Interesting story set in Ireland at Blackrock Castle that had been in the Spencer family for a couple of centuries. As happens with these older estates it was hard to keep up with the maintenance and in swooped a businessman that wanted to change it into the next 5 star resort, that it until he is murdered. Darcy and her friend Lizzy had been invited to the castle for a special holiday and they are on hand to help find the culprits. Lots of twists to figure out who was who.
This is a great read. Full of twists and turns and some light hearted fun along the way. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens next. The writing is concise and to the point of suspense shining through, enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. keeps you guessing. I recommend this book.
Food critic Darcy and her friend Lizzie along with Darcey’s dog Mozart. Are mystery solvers. They traveled to Ireland to Blackrock Castle where a murder took place. Plenty of characters to investigate plus Darcy’s former boy friend Marcus who is a policeman show up. Very entertaining book. Looking forward to second book in the series.
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review. A good fast read cozy that has Darcy,Lizzie and Mozart the dog solving a murder. The author gives us plenty of suspects and the ending was a surprise. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fairly fast-paced, whih I like, and the ending came as a complete surprise, which is very rare for me. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was grabbed from the beginning by this mystery. It has so many twists and turns and even a little unrequited love. The characters are warm, lovable and quirky. I recommend this book to everyone! But especially to all mystery lovers.
I enjoyed this story. Darcy and Lizzie investigate a murder with the help of canine Mozart . Lots of suspects , motives , and red herrings. There is a recipe included. I recommend this for those who like cozies with animals.
What a cute little murder mystery quick read! The FMC kinda gave me Velma from Scooby Doo vibes and the whole mystery plot was like a game of clue. I thought I had it figured out but I most definitely didn’t.
Ms. Sinclair has done it again, this time with an Irish whodunnit. Darcy and Mozart, Lizzie and Marcus are back for another food-connected murder mystery. This is another page turner! You won't want to miss anything!

Murder at Blackrock Castle marks the beginning of the Darcy and Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery series by Greta Sinclair, though it is not the first installment I've read. I relished the chance to revisit the start of Darcy's journey and discover how she became an amateur sleuth.
Darcy, along with her best friend Lizzie and her dog Mozart, embarks on a trip to Ireland to explore a castle they were invited to. While Darcy and Lizzie are seeking a relaxing getaway and a chance to meet a Michelin-starred chef to write a story for her food blog, they stumble upon a murder.
The story kicks off with a bang and maintains its intensity throughout. It exceeded all my expectations and served as a fantastic introduction to a captivating mystery series. Murder at Blackrock Castle kept me riveted with its numerous twists and turns, making every word compelling.
As Darcy, Lizzie, and Mozart investigate, they uncover a plethora of clues that point to various suspects in the man's demise. Indeed, their inquiry reveals several individuals who harbored a strong dislike for him. It became clear that many wanted him gone as soon as possible. I sensed he was far from a pleasant character.
Investigating a murder within a castle provided ample opportunities to explore every dark, eerie nook and cranny, as well as tunnels and hidden passageways in search of evidence. The atmosphere of Murder at Blackrock Castle gave off an eerie mid-eighteenth-century vibe.
This book serves as a wonderfully captivating introduction to the Darcy and Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery series. I eagerly anticipate diving into more books in this series.
I wholeheartedly recommend Murder at Blackrock Castle to all fans of murder mysteries! Don't miss out on grabbing your copy of Murder at Blackrock Castle today!
I often just go onto Amazon and plug in a few keywords, fiddle with the filters, and search for interesting looking cozy mystery series that I just might not find any other way. My search this morning garnered this series as the first result. So, I found the first book, read the synopsis and thought 'what the hell, why not', and here we are.
This was a fun little read. On the shorter side at just 182 pages, it told a completely well thought out and delivered little mystery. The characters were quite fun to follow. I like the Darcy and Lizzie nod, and little Mozzie is such a cutie. Those are your core investigative team (so far), and the remaining characters were good. They were not overly complicated, but not one dimensional (for the most part), and played their designated roles in what is essentially a locked room style mystery well. I had the villain of the piece worked out quickly as the author does follow the tried and true mystery genre tropes regarding the roles of characters, so if you are aware of those, then you should have no problem playing along.
In all, this was fast paced and I finished it within 75-90 minutes. The mystery is good, the investigation, while interesting, does stretch the bonds of credulity with how they let a not so random food critic (an ex-girlfriend of the detective) butt into a police matter, but hey, it's a cozy mystery so totally acceptable, right? So, I enjoyed this enough to continue on with the 2nd book - which I am in the middle of reading at the moment - and will likely continue on with the series in general.
Journalist, Darcy Finnigan is sent to Ireland for the magazine, The Wandering Foodie along with her friend and photojournalist Lizzie and Darcy's dog Mozart to write an article on Cordon Bleu chef, Francois Délicieux, and his restaurant at Black Rock Castle. And of course, there is a murder so Darcy and Lizzie along with Mozart decide they need to investigate. Now we are taken on a real roller coaster ride with so many red-herrings and twists and turns you are page turning until the surprise ending. Along the way, we find a little relationship discovery as Darcy has to run into an old ex, Detective Marcus. This was a fast paced, with beautiful descriptions and a surprise ending. I really can't wait to see what Darcy, Lizzie and of course Mozart! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This was a fun but cozy story. It was a page turner and the suspense was amazing and curious. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. Darcy Finnegan was a photojournalist pal of Elizabeth Lizze Hayes who was over the Emerald Isle. In a recent article on Cordon Bleu the chef, Francois Délicieux, and his restaurant at the Black Rock Castle they had to solve a murder of this person. It was a mystery of drama and chaos. Will the culprit be caught in time before some else happens. Lives will change in a minute. What kinds of lies and secrets surrounds this murder. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones
An aristocratic couple are hosting an extremely interesting dining experience — featuring the well-known chef: Francois Délicieux. Darcie and her friend Lizzie never cease to mix business and pleasure — the pleasure being solving a good mystery. Mozart, Darcie's faithful Schnoodle, is never far behind. I love the way Darcie and Mozart's expressions seem to mirror each other... something to do with pets and their owners, maybe? I find it quite amazing how people are quite receptive to opening up to Darcie, but then, she has a very personable manner — also very persuasive! There does seem to be a blossoming romance going on for Darcie...? I hope so.🙂
A visit to Blackrock Castle in Ireland. There are a lot of guests, some of whom are obnoxious and soon there is a murder. So many suspects, so little time. Darcie, Lizzie and Mozart are kept busy trying to determine who the murderer is. Lots of red herrings along the way as well as several people who are not who they appear to be. The ending was a surprise to me. Great characters and well-written storyline, I would read more in this series. I received an ARC copy of this story and this is my voluntary, honest review.
A thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable cozy mystery that I recommend as Darcy, her best friend Lizzie, and Darcy's darling dog, Mozart, investigate a murder. The plot is cleverly written and the weapon of choice is a huge surprise. This is a great cozy!
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am voluntarily writing this review
Blackrock Castle in Ireland is the perfect setting for a cozy murder mystery. There is real camaraderie between Darcy and Lizzie and Mozart is just adorable! We have a hint of romance as well. The plot moved right along, the settings were beautifully described and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story! Can’t wait to see what happens in Scotland!
Great characters, dialogue, setting and plot with as many twists and turns as the 200+ year old castle has secret tunnels! Plan to find a comfortable spot to sit down and enjoy this murder mystery and see how long it takes you to solve the crime. I received this book as a member of an ARC team and this is my voluntary and honest review. This book is worth your time and you'll enjoy it!
Darcy, Lizzie and Mozzy were just going for a "normal" review of some great food at Blackrock Castle. Little did they know while there they would be thrown into a murder mystery. The way she described the castle and everything was just great. Loved the twists, turns and surprises that it brought.
Darcy, Lizzie and Mozart are looking forward to a fun weekend at the castle, when a guest is dead. A really fun cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns. I had a great time reading this book. Great characters and a storyline that keeps you going.
A very charming mystery and the characters of Darcy and Lizzie were cute too. I enjoyed the story and the mystery wasn't too convoluted but also not too easy. A light, easy read and I look forward to more.
