Enforcer

Rate this book
Alyssa Roebach was excited to stand by her best friend, Brynne, as she took on her new role as the head of the Bianchi family. However, Alyssa didn’t expect to encounter a dark-haired mafia enforcer who immediately tried to break down her defenses. As a child of divorce, Alyssa has always avoided commitment. She’s determined not to fall for a man who could hurt her or get involved in anything resembling a relationship to the outside eye. But it seems like she won’t have a choice in the matter.

Dante Ricci, a man of strength and resilience, is instantly captivated by Alyssa. He’s prepared to embark on the most demanding mission of his to win her heart. Having experienced the pain of loss firsthand, Dante lives each day to its fullest. However, his pursuit of Alyssa proves to be more challenging than he initially anticipated. Yet, he remains steadfast in his belief that he’s the right man for the task and refuses to give up. As resolute as Alyssa is in her attempts to repel him, Dante is equally determined to make her his.

*Dante and Alyssa’s story is set in the world created in Captor, the previous book in this series. The author suggests reading Captor first for the full experience.

Enforcer by K.M. Mixon is an emotional, steamy, and deeply satisfying read that weaves together elements of romance, personal growth, and just the right amount of spice. The story focuses on the heroine’s journey toward self-discovery, and the author does a brilliant job of balancing intense emotions with heartwarming moments.

The FMC’s character arc is a highlight, showcasing significant personal growth as she learns to confront her insecurities and embrace her strength. Watching her evolve was one of the most rewarding aspects of the novel, making her a relatable and layered protagonist. She doesn’t simply undergo a transformation for the sake of the plot; instead, it feels natural and deeply connected to her experiences, which makes her growth feel earned.

The MMC is a standout as well. His patience, understanding, and unwavering support for the FMC make him an absolute gem. His love is tender, yet strong, and his willingness to wait for her to heal at her own pace adds a layer of depth to the romance that feels refreshingly genuine. The chemistry between the two leads is undeniable, and their relationship is filled with moments of tenderness and passion.

Speaking of passion, the spice in this book is fantastic! Mixon knows how to write scenes that are both steamy and intimate, striking a perfect balance between physical connection and emotional depth. These scenes never feel gratuitous, always serving to deepen the bond between the characters.

That said, readers should definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in. Some themes may be heavy for certain readers, so it’s important to be prepared. However, Mixon handles these sensitive topics with care, making sure they are woven into the plot with purpose and respect.

Overall, Enforcer is a beautifully written romance that will leave you swooning and rooting for the characters. The combination of emotional growth, loving patience, and steamy encounters make this a near-perfect read. Highly recommended!

I absolutely loved Captor, book one in this series. It features Alyssa's best friend, Brynne. She ends up with Slate. Brynne calls Alyssa to come help her integrate into her new life. Talk about instant chemistry. Alyssa and Dante share it for sure.

"You're mine. Even if you don't want to admit it yet."

Dante calling Alyssa "minaccia" and "tesoro". Every time that he would call her either of these names, my heart would flutter. Um, I want a guy that will give me a nickname in another language. Even if it is menace, it sounds better in another language.

"If we fall deeper, it will only hurt worse."

Alyssa can tell herself all she wants that she wanted no strings with Dante, but she was lying. Every moment that Alyssa was away from Dante was like him being depraved of no oxygen. I loved this book so much. It was a very fast read. In fact, it was a one day read!

Always running away from her problems, she had an instant attraction towards Dante, the now enforcer for the Ricci family. What started as fun turned into something more and deeper, but Alyssa can’t always figure out how to stay without having her fears and anxieties take over. This was such a good book. Although there were some slower parts, it is still amazing. It follows Alyssa, Brynne’s best friend, and Dante, Slate’s cousin and enforcer. This book also, in a way, feels very fast paced due to the timeline set by the previous book, but at the same time, this book had so much detail and events within a short time, which helped to create the longer book. Of course, this book can be read as a standalone, but reading the books in order is recommended because it helps with context within the books.

Absolutely yes! I loved Captor and Slate so much, but I think I may love Dante more. Dante Ricci is everything! He isn't afraid to show his feelings, and will do anything to get Alyssa to break down her walls and admit her feelings for him. Alyssa is a strong, independent, and extremely stubborn woman. She has walls in place for a reason, and does not let them down easily. The angst in this book was top notch, I found myself yelling at the characters a few times. The spice was delicious, KM Mixon can write a spicy scene! I loved the side characters, Lorenzo and Antonio had me laughing. And I absolutely loved that Brynne and Slate were in the book. I can't wait for the next book in the New York Crime Families series!

Dante, Dante, Dante... Don't get me wrong, I love Daddy Slate.. but Dante is right there with him! I love how he knows Alyssa is guarded and has her walls up but still does everything he can to get her to open up to him. He is a protector through and through. Alyssa is strong willed and has her guard up with almost everyone but her closest friends. She's very strong minded and very smart. I love the back and forth between them.

I loved getting to see more of Slate and Brynne. Their story is my favorite so getting to see more of their life is amazing. Antonio and Lorenzo are HILARIOUS!

I absolutely can not wait for more!

I absolutely love Dante!!! He is a big teddy bear, who would do anything for Alyssa including love her from a distance even though it kills him! Alyssa annoys me a bit with her inability to just let him love her though! Overall I love this book and would definitely recommend it if you like a good mafia romance.

Dante

Dante Ricci

Well, I've waited for him since Captor. Don't get me wrong, Slate is the epitome of a bookboyfriend, but Dante is endgame.
We get very realistic trauma responses, very realistic characters with very realistic psychological problems embedded in a rollercoaster of a story.
I love that Enforcer is focused on inner conflicts, character ups and downs, of character growth, and very real struggles, while giving us a story we needed after the bookhangover from Captor.
I loved having recurring characters and plot, making Enforcer somewhat more wholesome. Especially after the epilogue.

And thank you so much for this awesome bonus chapter, hinting the next upcoming story!
