He needs a wolf, she needs an adventure

Max
For a century, I’ve worked alone as the Dark Angel to keep the supernatural community safe and hidden, taking on the gruesome jobs nobody else wants. There aren’t trophies for my line of work, but I know I’m damn good at it — no team, no family, no ties to hold me back.

When a trail of bodies shows up on the human news with suspicious fang marks, it’s my time to shine. Right up until I learn my only hope of tracking down the vampires at fault is to team up with a superwolf. Problem is, I trust no one, especially not the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen who sniffs out my biggest secret as easily as breathing.

Summer
From the outside, my life seems great — I own the bakery-bookstore of my dreams, I have a comfortable position in my wolf shifter pack, my family is amazing, and I live in a picture-perfect small town. But I still have this simmering wanderlust in me, this desperate desire to upend it all for an adventure.

When the Dark Angel himself, Max Russo, walks into my store with a thrilling proposition to hunt down dangerous vampires across the world, I can’t pack fast enough – especially now I know his secrets.

One, supernatural bad boy Max just might have a heart under those black, shiny wings.
Two, he needs a friend as much as I need a croissant in Paris.
And three, he’s not just an angel.

ARC REVIEW
Honestly can’t write a review without spoiling everything because of how ABSOLUTELY perfect max and summer are!!!! 1 day to release day, book your calendars friends.

---
HAPPY RELEASE DAY EEEP hello timber creek book 2!! I absolutely loved Max and Summer, the vampire diaries vibes were strong. I love how self assured Summer became as the book went on, how much Max supports her, and how they really truly become a team through and through. As someone with a dream to open a bakery/bookstore, reading about Summer's store was so lovely. I adored that Summer was really able to see through Max's tough exterior and have his back during his Dark Angel missions. Cannot wait to see what happens in book 3!

Thank you B Perkins and Aimee Vance for sending me this eARC in exchange of my honest review!

This was seriously so cute and funny! I cackled multiple times at the slapstick, stupid one liners or subtle references throughout. The plot was fantastic, especially for a romcom which can sometimes be plot light. So many of my favorite tropes were present in this shifter x vampire/angel hybrid paranormal romance. There’s political intrigue sprinkled in, a protective pack family, and, of course, romance.

Read this if you like:

🩸Hilarious one liners
🐺wolf shifter FMC
🪽Angel/Vampire hybrid MMC
🦇marriage of convenience
🩸blood sharing
🐺fake dating
🪽found family
🦇mutual pining
🩸mates
🐺spicy scenes to balance the plot

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

Thank you so much to Aimee Vance and B. Perkins for the eARC! It was my first book by either of these authors and it certainly won’t be my last!

I received an ARC by the lovely authors! But this review contains my honest opinion of the book.

To be honest this was perhaps one of my least favorite books by this duo. I could not put my finger on it but it almost felt like it was written by different authors. I think the book was missing some of the cozy crazy small town vibes that Deadlights Cove had.

Let me start of by saying that I really like the main characters, but for some reason i could not get invested in their relationship. I also felt that the third act conflict was resolved much too sone. But i did love the epilogue, it was so cute. Summer was also very self aware sometimes it felt like she was breaking the third wall with sayings such as “Don’t try to fight it, it’s a cannon event”.

Some of my favorite lines in the book:

“It would be easy to be distracted by how beautiful she was while she burned your damn house to the ground”.

“The sun backlit the mountains and forests framing the large rough-cut log home, but i couldn’t look away from the smile she beamed my way, hiding a level of sinister enjoyment I knew meant i was in for it”.

“I glanced sideways at Summer for any clues as to why we were having a pissing contest as I reached her side, but she still smiled that almost creepy smile”.

“Spite was the greatest motivator”.

“I turned a slow, deadly glare to Summer. Did she just pluck me? We were going to have a chat about that later”.

“But Summer was the sun, a living embodiment of her name. Every moment I spent with her pulled me more into her orbit, until I felt like i too couldn’t survive without her warmth”.

Also just chapter 15 was perfection and I could really empathize with Summer resharing everyone underestimating her.

I also loved the relationship between Indy and Summer, the paragraph in chapter 20 was just amazing!

Also I noticed in this book what I also noticed in their other books that they use the word male to describe a man. That really made me cringe and bothered me wile reading it. It would take me out of the story.

Oh my gosh!! I loved this so much! My heart!

We are back in Timber Creek, baby!! I have missed these characters so much, and this book did not disappoint!

I have loved Summer since the moment she was introduced in Wild Wild Wolf. She is living my dream of owning her own bakery/bookstore combo. What more could you want! A lot more, it would seem. Summer goes on an amazing journey of learning to prioritize herself and knowing it's ok to follow your dreams. This felt very similar to something I went through, and I felt even more connected to Summer because of it. She is just the most badass ray of sunshine. We should definitely be travel buddies. Jeep girls for life!!

Max truly is a love letter to Damon Salvatore if I’ve ever seen one (makes me want to rewatch TVD). I loved his attitude, and he was such a delightful balance to Summer. Watching them together was awesome. Max saw Summer for who she really is. The one that always doesn’t get a chance to shine through. Summer helped Max clear away some of the shadows and helped him to understand what it means to have a friend. To have someone on your team. I love watching a loner learn they are worth it, and Max’s journey warmed my heart.

The story for this one was so much fun. I loved watching Summer travel around and cross things off her bucket list. But what was even better was the lore drops! I have been waiting to dive into the world of vampires, and we finally get it. I was just eating up all the tasty bits of information. And the drama!! We learn a bit more about the disappearing shifter situation. This is clearly going to be an overarching issue throughout the series. And the vampire drama was crazy! I loved it all!!

Perkins and Vance brought all the fun and chaos I have come to love from their books. I found myself laughing out loud several times. I just love the way they are weaving these stories together and expanding upon this world that I love. I can't wait to see what comes next!

Okay, I have to start out saying that I absolutely love this book!!! I knew I was going to enjoy Summer and Max’s story when I read Wild, Wild Wolf ( book 1) but OMG I am so smitten by both of them!!!

Max is our dark angle/ vampire half breed,
Who is moody and mysterious. Summer is our chaotic, free spirit looking for recognition. It’s an opposites attract situation. I am a sucker (pun fully intended) for a a fake relationship/ marriage. The tension, banter and yearning is so yummy!!! Once we get to the spice it is sooooo good. I left like the plot to spice was perfection.

As an elder emo/ millennial the humour was so my style. The references and jokes felt like they were written for me.

I love seeing adhd representation, Summer is chaotic and desperately wants her family to take her seriously. Yes having adhd can look messy and unorganized but there is so much more under it all. I loved how Max saw this about Summer.

If you love a good paranormal romance then seriously this book is for you! It is so good and it’s been weeks now and I can’t stop swooning!!

I had the privilege of reading this book as an ARC thanks to the lovely authors! Even though I was able to read this book early, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I loved the banter between the characters, the grumpy sunshine trope, and overprotective siblings. There were so many relatable moments (especially with the siblings IFYKYK) for it being a paranormal romance book with a lot of cultural references intertwined.

Overall, this was such a fun, entertaining, captivating ride and I definitely recommend the read!

Pretty sure this book ruined me- definitely ruined any possibility of my coworkers thinking I’m sane. Literally laugh out loud funny, and so sweet. I love the tough-guy-who’s-really-a-romantic type, and the FMC who’s a strong and independent adult! I love the Deadlight’s Cove books, and Timer Creek is quickly rivaling!

"Adventure awaits you, Summer. You're the only one in your way."

*A huge thank you to Aimee and B for allowing me to read an ARC of Love Bites. All thoughts and comments are my own.*

Summer has always wanted to travel the world, but has felt compelled to stay in Timber Creek for her family. Max has always been an outsider. When vampire kills start showing up in the human news, Max teams up with Summer to track down elusive vampire dens. The two embark on a dangerous adventure that will lead them all over the world and bring them closer together.

Love Bites is fantastic addition to the Timber Creek series!! Max and Summer are perfection. Their banter is top notch. Summer's bubbly personality is so endearing and captivating. Max's quiet brooding is the perfect counter. I love fake dating and marriage of convenience tropes, and we get both in Love Bites! Throw in some "my wife" and one bed tropes, and there really isn't anything that could be better! There are lots of nods to romance readers in the story, which felt like a big hug from your bestfriend. As always the spice hits perfect.

The Larkin family dynamics continue to be one of my favorite aspects of the Timber Creek series. Heath is unintentionally hilarious and the sweetest dad to all of the Larkin siblings. The family group chats will have you laughing out loud. We also get older brother posturing from West, Terran, and Cooper, which I adored. Cruz once again pops in with the best antics. I can't wait for his and Aspen's book! The Willies steal the show along with their new partner in crime, Waffles. Think Winnie and Bags team-ups from the Deadlights Cove series. It's filled with Aimee and B's trademark pop culture references, from The Office to Twilight to Monty Python. Eagle-eye Swifties will spot some Taylor references too.

Love Bites is the perfect mix of laughs, heart, intrigue, and spice. If Aimee and B write it, then I'm going to read it. And I'm going to love every second of it! 100% guaranteed. You can read Love Bites as a standalone, but I encourage you to read Wild Wild Wolf first to get the best introduction to the Larkin family and the supernatural world Aimee and B have created. I can't recommend this series enough! Love Bites is out March 21st. Get your pre-orders in now!

"Overgrown crows don't scare me."

"I could get a sunburn just looking at her, she was so sunshiney."

"You know, stalking is only cute in dark romance, and personally, I'm more of a rom-com girl."

"There are only happily-ever-afters on these shelves. I like to imagine there's a happy ending for everyone out there, somewhere, just waiting for them to find it. That's why I only sell romance novels- I am an eternal optimist."

"The readers will riot."

"Sleeping on the floor is the absolute worst outcome in a one bed trope, which you'll know soon enough now that you're becoming a book boyfriend. We'll share."

"Not everyone can just be won over with a smile and a joke and a spinach croissant, Summer."

"We're talking about buffalo, and yet every word out of your mouth sounds like a dirty innuendo, Heath."
"That says more about you than it does me, darling."

"I'm not a gentleman, Summer. If you're offering, I'm taking."

"These free-range Willies are being extra spicy today."

I discovered WILD WILD WOLF last year and wouldn’t shut up about it to anyone who would listen to me. It’s a romcom, but like with werewolves and shifters and fated mates. And it was absolutely perfect. So when I saw that this writing duo was publishing a second in the series with a wolf + vampire / grumpy + sunshine match up, I was all in.

What’s it about?
Wolf shifter, Summer, is the embodiment of her name. She owns a darling little bakery in Timber Creek, a town that’s a safe space for the supernatural. But she’s never really left and dreams of adventure. But she has a whole bunch of overprotective shifter siblings.

In flies Max, the half-angel / half-vampire bad boy in need of a wolf to help him sniff out vampire dens. Summer seizes on the opportunity to help Max and see the world.

Soon the pair realize they need a marriage of convenience, and Vegas is the best place to make that happen. Except, uh oh, their feelings are real.

Falling in love while battling vampires? What could go wrong?

My thoughts:
Clearly I loved this book.

It’s got paranormal creatures, chemistry like crazy, world travel, shadow daddy vibes, a romance book reader (and all the funny romance book references that come with it), only one bed, and adventure. And the spice was lovely.

I adored everything about this story. Summer finding her own voice and seeing the world, and Max finding his humanity and family roots were a perfect pairing. I loved this pairing of opposites, and how welcoming the pack is to Max despite his misgivings.

Also, vampire bites will always do it for me.

I. Am. Obsessed. A few days ago, if you would've told me that I would end up liking an MMC more than Kit in the Deadlights Cove/Timber Creek universe, I would've laughed. I feel like the authors felt this in the universe and simultaneously said hold my beer 🍺. 🤭 I'm obsessed with Max and you know what, it's not even cause he's a shadow daddy!!! 😱 I mean, I would never turn away a shadow daddy 😂, but his story just pulls at my heartstrings! 🥺

Love Bites definitely delivers a great plot with many *kick feetsies* moments. Summer and Max are quite opposites attract but they're so perfect together and the fact Max gets to join the Timber Creek clan like 🥹🥹🥹. These authors had me laughing in stitches (the book boyfriend talk, the BBQ, the WILLIES, IYKYK and if you don't, you need to 😆), melting due to cute sweet moments and they made me cry in public transport (still don't forgive you for that by the way).

I absolutely loved this and I need you to read it so you can fall in love with it too (though, start with wild wild wolf, at least!). I honestly hope these two authors have very long and prolific writing careers cause I'm hooked and you're not getting rid of me now! 🤣

A big thanks to the authors for the ARC for review. All opinions are my own.

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH YALL NEED TO READ IT I'M NOT JOKING 😭😭😭
when they announced the next book in the Timber Creek series would be about Max and Summer, i had no idea what to expect. well, i shouldn't have been so sceptic because i adored every single page. the amount of times i laughed out loud, how i couldn't help my smile at the banter and silly situations they both got themselves into, how i gasped so many times at the shocking revelations... it was too much and yet not enough. i adored how they both changed their attitudes towards each other, the trust and feelings developing so beautifully i can't believe this took place in less than a month 😱 and of course, the Larkins making their appearances and being just the best family ever with their support and love.
i can't believe how invested i am in this series at this point, considering i have no idea how many books it will have, but color me intrigued because i need more, i love this small town and i love the characters so much. can't wait for the next one 😍😍

He needs a wolf. She needs an adventure.

Love Bites was so much fun. I am a sucker for a grumpy x sunshine, and this did not disappoint. I laughed out loud many times, but also so many sweet moments mixed with action and adventure.

Summer Larkin, a wolf shifter, is sunshine and sweetness wrapped into one. She is tired of being seen as only the baby sister. She wants to see the world. I loved Summer as she came into her own, making a place for herself and standing her ground within her pack and with Max. I would have loved more bakery moments, but you know how much I love the bakery trope.

Massimo ("Max") Russo, my undercover romantic overgrown crow. Full of touch her and die rage with a heart of gold. There is a scene with River (Summer's niece) that I awed over.

I loved these two together, and the epilogue made me so happy. The plot and spice are perfectly balanced.

The Larkin pack is so great, and there are enough of them that I bet we get a book for each, which is awesome. Health, Summer's dad, is my favorite. He can plan a ridiculously over-the-top party anytime.

Love Bites is book two in the Timber Creek interconnected series.

Perfect for fans of wolf-shifter romances, vampires, paranormal romance, and marriage of convenience.

Love Bites is amazing, I loved Max and Summer’s story so much!! He’s the Dark Angel of the supernatural community and needs a wolf, she’s needs adventure. Their hunt turns into fake dating and then a fake marriage, which turns real.

I really enjoyed being back in this world and Timber Creek again! Even though this series is more serious than the other one I still laughed a lot. Heath is epic with his inappropriateness and Summer’s siblings are hilarious when they are trying to intimidate Max.

Summer and Max may be opposites but I think they are perfect together. Their chemistry is insane and I loved every single interaction! She is sunshine, compassionate, impulsive, and funny. He’s grumpy, a loner, protective, and hides that he actually cares about people. I adore how much she loves to make him blush and the fact that he blushes at her romance books is awesome.

This book perfectly blends romance, their hunt, small town shenanigans, and action. Plus Max and Summers have many delicious spicy and tension filled moments!! I kind of forgot how much I love these books and I can’t wait for the next one!

What a fun read! Max and Summer. Book 2 in the Timber Creek series. Max is a vampire/angel and works for the PRICs (Paranormal Relations and Interspecies Council) but sometimes goes about his job with his own brand of justice. So kinda like a vigilante vampire… so, kinda like, you know…. Batman? 🤣 I love it Summer is a shifter that owns a bakery/bookstore and longs for adventure. Max’s father assigns him in this case and Max needs Summers help in solving these random vampire attacks that have been happening around the world.
We’ve got forced proximity, witty banter, unlikely allies, vampire/shifter, marriage of convenience, brothers friend, mystery, one bed romantasy.
This book was such a good time. It had me giggling, loving the characters (both main and side characters), on an adventure, using my brain to figure out the “mystery” It was a perfect feel good comedy paranormal romance. Such a great time.

Absolutely adorable and fiery addition to the Timber Creek series. I loved Wild, Wild Wolf, but I think Max and Summer stole the damned show with this one! Their story was equal parts hilarious, spicy, and romantic.

I loved getting to see these new sides of both MCs. Summer's desire to be taken seriously and to see the world and Max's desire to find some where to belong. These two dove headfirst into one spiral of marriage of convenience while tracking down a vampire foe.

Vance and Perkins never disappoint when you need a cozy paranormal romance that will give you all the emotions. I think I might *gasp* even enjoy this spin-off series even more than the original and I didn't think that was possible!

This was so fun!! Paranormal. Romcom. Marriage of convenience. Grumpy sunshine.

I thoroughly enjoyed being back in Timber Creek with all the characters we know and love from Wild Wild Wolf.

Max is everything. The perfect dark, brooding, vamp/ angel. Summer is the sunshine of all sunshines. Their dynamic together was hilarious, and man oh man their chemistry together 🔥🌶️

Because of Max’s magic, they are able to travel all around the world and the settings are all amazing! Between the travel and Summer’s bakery, I’m going to need a croissant asap.

I’m already excited for more Larkin sibiling fun in future books 🖤

Thank you Aimee & B for the chance to enjoy an ARC.

This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. I was so happy to be back in Timber Creek with Larkin family. These authors are just so good at writing family and community, starting with Deadlights Cove and now this series, I could read all their books just for that reason. But beside that, we have one beautiful swoony romance with lots of action. Here is what I loved the most:

1. Plot of this book was fun, there was a lot going on and it was fun to learn about vampires and their ways here, since no one new they even existed. I loved how some revelations made the whole story make even more sense.
2. I really liked Summer from the Wild Wild Wolf and how welcoming and kind she was to Jade, but after meeting her here I loved her even more. She IS all sunshine, but I really appreciated that it wasn’t overdone. When she had tough times, she didn’t overcome them just with “happy thoughts” but with a strong will for her goals.
3. I loved how Max was attracted to her from the beginning, but it wasn’t done in a way that he only thought about sleeping with her. He genuinely liked her as a person and wanted to just be with her, get to know her, and fulfill her wishes (swoon). He is very broody with his own insecurities, but he wasn’t rude because of it. He was just trying to find his place, considering his specific situation.
4. I laughed out loud with this book. The family banter is so good, and I love how Max was truly shocked a few times with some situations and Summer’s reactions, soo funny.
5. I loved the pacing of their relationship. I felt like they really got to know each other and fall in love naturally (even if we know how it goes with wolves). Also, the way that they helped and supported each other was beautiful. And the spice - so hot, their chemistry was top notch.

I would recommend this series to everyone who likes paranormal books with an equal amount of romance and plot. It is fun AND funny, swoony with a small town feel.

I had to have my hands on this book and it was really good! My favorite aspect was easily the found family and sibling relationships. I adore Summer’s family so much!! The text banter, the protection and loyalty, they make this book sing. I can never get enough of them. It just makes me all the more excited for this series to continue.

Max and Summer were a delight. I did love the chemistry between them, I would have just loved a little more actual conversation. It was very physically forward and that’s not my cup of tea. When they had those soft conversation moments and the flitted about while traveling? THOSE were the key romantic scenes for me.

I love that this series has suspense elements too. The bit of action was precisely what the plot needed (and hello, was anyone else emotional over Malachi’s backstory???). I liked seeing more of the vampire world and the secrets behind them.

The ending was abrupt and I wanted a bit more closure and conversation to wrap everything up. I’m hopeful we’ll get to see a little bit of that in future books.

Overall audience notes:
- Paranormal romance
- Language: strong
- Romance: 4+ open door
- Violence: moderate
- Content Warnings: kidnapping, attempted murder, weapons and physical violence, murder

•My Thoughts•
I was so excited to be back in this small town with the Larkin family. They make me laugh with their banter and joking. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Summer and Max was fun and I enjoyed watching him be completely bulldozed with sugar and smiles. I enjoyed this world where supernaturals (shifters, vampires, witches, angels) are just being discovered by the human population. This book focused on the vampires and Max’s secret past and while I did wish that there were a bit of a deeper dive (give me all the details!), I enjoyed that part of the plot! I wanted a bit more depth to Max and Summer’s connection. It felt very quick and based heavily on physical attraction which is not my favorite. Overall, this book was a good time with great family dynamics and a fun world. I’m looking forward future books in Timber Creek and to more of the Larkins!!

Thank you to Aimee Vance and B. Perkins for the early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

What can I say about this book without spoiling it!
You have the grumpy Dark Angel / Vampire in Max paired with Summer's pure sunshine personality.
Max has never been able to truly be himself and is a loner amongst friends. So when Max and Summer start their fake dating to keep up appearances for Max's recent assignment, feelings start to feel - both for Summer and the desire to be included in her big, loving family.
You'll get laughs and tears with this one. I received an eARC and almost started over midway through when I got my paper copy early only bc I was not ready for it to be done!

All the stars. I adore this world that Aimee and B have created and it was such a fun story to read.

There's so many pop culture refernces and their sense of hunmour is apparently the same as mine, because there's a lot of funny moments. That being said, I also wanted to cry and shout at B and Aimee a couple of times too ;)

Read if you love paranormal romance with a bit of suspense/mystery, grumpy/sunshine, Damon Salvatore, strong and independent FMC and absolutely wonderful secondary characters.

Back in Timber Creek! Another rom com full for the pop culture girlies from Aimee and B! Book two of the Timber Creek series follows Summer ☀️ and Max 🧛. The grumpy sunshine duo are an unexpected pair as they enter a marriage of convenience with a “my wife” moment. This book is definitely full of laughs, blushes, and even a little mystery. Lovers of Wild Wild Wolf will love this sequel :)
