Shards!!!! Boom bam, chakalala wham! That's what this book did to me, it caught me up in it's clutches, it made my heart implode, it made me sob, it made me smile through my tears and it filled me up with every good feel possible! This book and series is a whirlwind of emotions, of action of intensity and some of the coolest dragons ever! These dragons are real characters, in attitude as well as "humanised" by the brilliant penmanship of Eileen Mueller.

This awesome book starts 3 years in the past, setting the foundation of what's to come. Mazyka and Giddi had, by being curious, unintentionally let the despicable Zens into their realm. From Earth. And now, present day, Zens is threatening everything, their lives, their world, their very existence. Their guilt is insurmountable, their fight against Zens and his thuraks fierce, but, they need to end it, before they are all ended. Zens is a lot more complicated than just an evil doer, he was shattered, emotionally, physically, psychologically, experimented on by his vile parents, he's become what he is today, through their hand, someone who has literally lost the plot and any semblance of humanity. His created creatures are, for the most part, unthinking, unfeeling, abominations, raining destruction and chaos wherever they are. But... even knowing this, even acknowledging all his heinous deeds, there's a kernel of sympathy in me for Zens, as desperate as I am for the atrocities to abate, I'm just as desperate for a redemption arc for Zens... and these emotions lie squarely on the author's shoulder, SHE was just too good in her description and background of Zens!

This book has a full cast of characters, diverse and distinctly unique and I'd be hard pressed to name a favourite! Seppi is firmly one of my favourites, but so too is Hans, his gift of prophecy a burden he alone must bear; Tonio, spymaster extrordinaire; Lars, Anakisha, Yanik, and more, all outstandingly, conceptually original, I'm left flabbergasted at the skill Ms Mueller exercises. These characters, dragons included, have become a part of me, I writh in agony with them, most of all anyway, my heart is squashed each time Anakisha has her visions, over and over, the same outcome every time, I want to howl. Being subjected to these visions is torture on a whole new level, and, as Singlar says, "Anakisha is driven by visions and consequences more far-reaching than any of us could ever imagine.” GARRRRHHH! Starrus, still very much a dubious character, he, to me, is even worse than Zens, he's an ambitious, self-centred, narcissistic murderer, who wants Giddi out of the way, permanently. Sowing discontent, spreading lies, trying every means possible, yes, even murder is not off the cards, he's just looking for the right opportunity....

There are way too many to mention, but my heart skipped a beat whenever a previous well loved character appeared, like Rosita, and Rusty, and Ruby,
The strength, the resolve of all these characters is admirable, each have their own fears, their own demons but they rally, they persevere. My goodness did Eileen put me through the ringer! So many events had my heart in my throat, all the characters faced danger after danger, from Giddi to Anakisha, to Rosita, to Amato's plight, to, well heck, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING was OMG! So vivid, so flipping scary! Eileen didn't pull her punches in this book, I felt like I'd gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, battered, bruised, in dire need of the relief I got when Ms Mueller, once again, turned it on its head! And yet, you the tension mounted both in this tale and in me, my eyes burned from unshed tears, then the tears came, until, at around the last few chapters, I was sobbing in earnest. The brutality of the battles were OMG shattering, the depths Ms Mueller took this story to, shattered me. I had to stop reading to collect myself when.... when...when...OH MY WORD NOOOOOO!

How Ms Mueller elevates every book is beyond me! This was an intensely dramatic and action paced read, the blood in my veins threatened to combust from the adrenaline coursing through them! There was a lot going on, as is expected with an Eileen read, following multiple characters, giving them the dedication they deserve, placing me right in their heads, feeling them, loving them, loathing them... Anakisha said "I know my letters" and that's precisely Eileen's ability too. Ms Mueller uses her letters to craft words, to form sentences, to breathe life onto the pages of her story, manipulating the text, twisting the strands, until they're malleable in her hands. I'm caught between these strands, clutching on for dear life, lest they shatter, and I with them. I got REALLY close to shattering on a number of occasions.... thankfully, Ms Mueller's writing skill brought me back from the precipice. The was a spellbinding, unputdownable read, it gutted me in more ways than one but it left me with the teeniest shred of hope and very very eager for the next book!

What a rollercoaster of a book from Eileen Mueller, full of heartache on one hand bringing you to tears, but full of love on the other.
Anakisha the Queens rider has been "seeing" her death and that of her husband Yanir the Kings Rider and his Dragon Syan for many moons. But the visions were getting more and more frequent, they were now coming to her during the day. She knew it would happen very soon..
Anakisha told Zaarusha not to try and save her and Yanir but to go and have her dragonettes at Dragons Hold and to look after them.
Zens and his Tharuks were capturing more and more innocent people including children and taking them to work in Zens mines. Plus his Tharuks were killing people including The Riders of Fire and their Dragons.
Marlies the Master Healer and her husband Hans had been trying to have children for many moon, but it had never happened for them. But things happened and they have to flee Dragons Hold and leave their Dragons behind which is tearing at their hearts.
So many loved characters make an appearance in this book, some make you cry some make you smile, the dragons of course make you laugh with their snarky comments.
The book is full of action right from the beginning.

Dragon Battle really blew me away. Ms Mueller has given us an overdose of so many characters' lives and the dangerous situations they found themselves in, I am still staggering after finishing this tome of a book. In this book we get to see the visions of Anakisha whereby she forsees her own death, and that of her partner and the dragon King, as well as the oncoming war with Zens and his tharuk monsters. The book is riveting from start to finish, and I highly recommend this to all those who love dragons, adventures and most particularly enjoy the stories about the lives of dragon riders. As usual these books also have their soft and romantic side to them which go to alleviate the very tense moments. Enjoy, as much as I did, and if you still haven't started discovering this series I suggest you do so right away as you are really missing out!

War is and will always be of destruction. And death. And heartrending losses.
Dragon battle render this in detail in a tome depicting so many characters we have come to know so well and love, their offerings, the tears and some tenderness midst all the destruction. Like A Alisha and Yanir. And Marlies and Hans.
Dragon Battle by Eileen Mueller is a book that tend to tear at heart strings whilst depicting the cruelty of Zens, the arc villain and his vicious tharuks versus so many well loved humans and their dragon companions.
And then there is the menace lurking in the background ...Starrus!
Yet the ending comes far too quickly. Thank goodness this series is not completed....yet.
Enjoy.

War!
Now Anakisha and Yanir have to face the prophecy of their deaths and the horrors that hit Dragon's Realm all because of Zens and his tharuks. All of the evil you can think of and then some. Zens does in this book. There are so many moments good and bad throughout this fast paced adventure that adults would also enjoy. there is so much packed into this epic story.

Great addition to the series. Anakisha’s vision shows her death and that of her partner as well as the coming war in this book. As expected, it is full of action and emotion. There is a whole cast of wonderful characters, each one so different and complex.
