How do you move on when your heart won’t let go?

Quinn
My heart has been bound to Declan Evans since we were kids. I’ve spent decades pining for him, wishing he would finally see me as a woman, and no longer as the annoying little girl from down the street. In the countless dreams I’ve had about us living together, it was never to be his daughter’s live-in nanny. This fake version of the life I’ve always wanted is torture. Will this arrangement be what finally draws us together or pushes us apart forever?

Declan
The year since losing my beloved wife, Sarah, has been a barrage of grief, mourning, and learning to be a present father. The never-ending string of inept nannies who can’t handle the demands of my lifestyle has not made things any easier. When Quinn O’Brien, a childhood friend with whom I have a muddled past, is thrust into my life as my new nanny, it only further complicates things. She frustrates the hell out of me and makes me long for things I swore I’d never allow my heart to feel again.

Same as the first one: It delivered exactly what it promised. The only thing that I did not feel too comfortable with was how fast Quinn and Dec respectively seemed to get over their own traumas, especially seeing as this was kind of the holdup for their relationship? Either way, I am so gonna read the next part when it comes out!

I loved book 1 (which I do recommend reading before starting book 2) so you get to know the characters involved as there is a sub plot that continues from book 1.

I have been counting the days since I finished "Owned" waiting for Quinn & Declan's story. It was good. It was steamy but maybe I'm greedy but I wanted more scenes - I knew it was going to involve Shibori and I would have loved a little more of that - perhaps at the Club?

But I still devoured the book in 4 days! It would have been 2-3 but I had to save some for my train ride home.

Bring on Primal!

Thank you to Bound and the Author Agency for an advanced reader copy!

🌶🌶 - Spice Level

Declan and Quinn have known each other since she was 10 years old. Quinn has always crushed on Declan. They had their first relationship before she went off to college in Ireland, but he broke her heart and told her to go and didn't want her. She comes back years later, but he's married and has a kid. She's then done with him. However, years later, Declan loses his wife to cancer. As you know, Quinn was violated and beaten in the first book and had quit bartending for the brothers. She then becomes Declan's nanny. They both realize the embers have burned between them for decades, and the second chance romance begins from those sparks igniting.

Declan has a really dirty mouth, especially as they start the second chance. It's like picking the original relationship up without missing a beat. Quinn was definitely Declan's original submissive as she says Yes sir without hesitation. They have this smoking chemistry that leads to hot, spicy scenes with Declan's rope tricks.

Where book 1 was the introduction of the Evan's brothers, book 2 gives you even greater knowledge of the brothers. Finn, being the youngest, is the wild child, and he ribs everyone, but Declan's definitely his best target. The banter between the brothers is side splitting. I was smirking and laughing all the way through at their antics. My favorite joke was Declan's spunk being just dust, according to Finn, because it had been too long without the company of a woman.

⚠️Please read all trigger warnings ⚠️

Thank you, author, for the ARC!

I absolutely adore the Evan’s brothers!!! And was so happy to dive back into their world! It definitely got a content warning/trigger list as long as my arm but it was so good!! I devoured this in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. It was quick paced and a little Angsty at the start but soon took off running! My heart broke when the two MC’s finally came to a head over their feeling but Dec gets his HEA(after earning it of course!)

I said this about Owned also, but this is definitely my new favorite by JL Quick!

I think my favorite part of the book was the flashbacks from the past and back to present day! It was done so well to help build the chemistry between the two MCs! I loved that they were working on their second chance!

The banter betwen the brothers had me cracking up! I really liked they way they interacted and worked together. It tied into the mafia family storyline perfectly.

I'm super excited for the rest of the books in the series! I can't wait to see more about what the other brothers are like.

Excuse Sir, Hot Damn!!! This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The Evans brothers are a special group of Brothers. Declan and Quinn love story is perfection. True love isn’t easy and it really wasn’t for them. There was spice spice and more spice, with Irish mafia. I mean, who doesn’t love that. The banter between the brothers had me laughing. I just loved reading it. The action and plot all had me hooked. I can’t wait to read more about the Evans brothers. If you haven’t please start this series, you will not be disappointed. Thank you J.L. for the opportunity to read this wondeful book.

This was such a quick read for me. It was exhilarating and such a passionate story. I love the history between the main characters and the dynamic of the family. It’s a single dad/ nanny trope, Irish mob, trauma and healing. There’s a lot to unpack but the storyline is exciting. I def will be reading more of J.L Quick’s books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my gosh! Declan and Quinn holy wow!! This book was everything and I loved it!! Totally obsessed with this family and how spicy they are. Seeing Declan’s inner thought and turmoil of his late wife while he tried surfing his relationship with Quinn was both amazing and heartbreaking and Quinn dealing with the aftermath of her attack was sad. Seeing them both come together and get stronger together was beautiful. All the plot twists and action in this book kept me from putting it down. Cannot wait for more of the Evans and their spicy mouths and possessiveness.

I loved this- it was a great follow up to the first book. I loved this second chance for Declan & Quinn - but my single parent loving heart wished for a few more scenes between of bonding with Declan, Quinn, and Fiona. I do love the dynamic between all the brothers and I'm looking forward to diving into the next book!

I couldn’t put it down!!!

I knew going into this book, after having read Owned, that Declan Evans was going to be a favorite for me. And this did not disappoint me.

Single Dad, Second Chance, Broken MMC, Mafia, Nanny, and then top it off with he’s possessive!!! Ahhh!!!!

This book is seriously in my top 5 for the year. The writing was so well done and read so quickly, I seriously was done in one sitting. And the story of Declan and Quinn finding each other again after a decade apart and losing his wife, mother of his adorable little girl. And that spice! Seriously top notch.

If Owned hadn’t already solidified me that this is a one-click author for me this book would have.

Star: ⭐⭐⭐⭐️.25

Bound by J.L. Quick is an emotional and intense story of love, loss, and the challenge of finding new beginnings. This romance centres around Quinn O’Brien and Declan Evans, two characters who share a complicated and intertwined history that goes back to their childhood.

Quinn has spent most of her life harbouring feelings for Declan, who has only ever seen her as the girl from down the street — until now. Her dreams of a life with Declan have always been just that — dreams. But when life takes an unexpected turn and Quinn becomes the live-in nanny for Declan’s daughter, she finds herself living a painful imitation of what she has always longed for. This arrangement places her closer to Declan than she ever imagined, but it’s also a reminder of what she doesn’t have. The tension builds as Quinn struggles with her feelings, caught between the hope of a deeper connection and the risk of her dreams shattering for good.

Declan, on the other hand, is dealing with his own pain. Still grieving the loss of his wife, Sarah, he is thrust into the challenges of being a single parent. Hiring Quinn as his daughter’s nanny stirs up a mix of emotions that he’s not ready to face. Declan’s life is already complicated, and Quinn’s presence — with all the history and unresolved feelings they share — makes it even harder for him to navigate his grief and responsibilities. Yet, Quinn’s unwavering care for his daughter and her ability to handle his demanding world start to chip away at the barriers he’s placed around his heart.

The novel explores how both characters navigate their past and present, their losses, and their longing for a better future. The chemistry between Quinn and Declan is palpable, marked by frustration, tenderness, and a deep-seated bond that’s hard to ignore. Their journey is about finding a way to heal, overcoming the pain of unfulfilled dreams, and facing the possibility of new love amidst old wounds.

J.L. Quick’s storytelling captures the rawness of emotions that come with loss, desire, and second chances. The characters are relatable, and the struggles they face are portrayed with sensitivity and depth. The backdrop of childhood connections and the impact of grief provide a compelling context for this romance, making it both poignant and heart-wrenching.

Bound is a story of resilience, the courage to move forward, and the beauty of finding love when you least expect it. It’s recommended for readers who appreciate a slow-burn romance with layered characters and a plot that delves into the complexities of love and heartache. This book is for anyone who understands that moving on doesn’t mean forgetting, but rather finding a way to live and love again.

💚 "This is a promise I will never break to you again. I will die protecting you." 🖤

If you loved Book 1 like I did, you’re in for another wild journey! (Highly recommend starting there first to fully dive into the characters and catch a key subplot that carries into Bound.) This one was quick-paced and had just the right amount of angst in the beginning to pull me in, and then—it took off running.

Daddy Declan, grieving the loss of his beloved wife, is guarded yet vulnerable, making it impossible not to root for his happiness, even as he fights it. J.L. Quick captures their yearning, frustration, and undeniable connection so well, creating an emotional and angsty start that soon explodes with passion and growth.

“How do you move on when your heart won’t let go?”

I was so excited for BOUND I’ve been waiting months to read this book!! AND IT DIDNT DISAPPOINT OMG WOW.

The Evans Brothers🤤🌶️🔥❤️

Bound by J.L. Quick is a story that tore me apart and put me back together. The synopsis and tropes had me at first glance!
I love Mafia Romance books and add all the other tropes you’re in for an amazing story, with great characters, plot and lots of spice!

Quinn O’Brien (FMC) has been in love with Declan Evans ever since they were kids who lived down the street from each other. She’s been pining after him for years and when she gets the chance to be his live-in nanny she takes it! In book one something tragic happened to Quinn and living with Declan makes her feel safe;and protected for once.

Declan Evans (MMC) in Bound is reeling from the loss of his wife, while also trying to manage raising his daughter,business/work the mafia and life.

Will this second chance bring back all their feelings back to forefront or will it all fall apart again?

These two MC’s made me feel so many emotions, I was sobbing at part of the story.
I love the Evan’s Brothers and loved getting to read Declan’s story intertwined with Quinn’s. The Mafia,Sex Club,Submissive/Dominant relationship and the emotional tones to this story hit all the right emotions, feelings and spots😉

I can’t wait to reread book 1, and see where J.L. Quick takes us next in this world.

The only thing I wish there was more of were scenes at the club * spicy scenes*

Thank you so much to The Author Agency and J.L. Quick for this ARC!

🌶4.5/5

This one is an absolute whirlwind of passion, tension, and second chances. Declan and Quinn's story brings all the angst and emotional depth you’d want in a mafia romance, with that delicious “Touch her & die” vibe that sends chills.

Quinn has been hopelessly in love with Declan since they were kids - her heart has always belonged to him, and they have a history 🔥❤️. Watching her wrestle with the trauma that played out in Owned is heart-wrenching, yet she remains a strong, bratty sub with plenty of sass.

Declan, dealing with the trauma of losing his wife, is intense, grumpy, and guarded. When Quinn enters his private life as his daughter's nanny, everything he’s tried to bury comes bubbling up. And let me tell you, this man has a filthy mouth, and he can dominate my body any time🥵

Their chemistry is that slow burn, will-they-won't-they kind that hooks you right in.

The spice is off the charts! Expect heart-thumping scenes, kink, and all the passion you’d want in a dark romance. Especially the scene were he counts her down OMW it's 🔥🥵.

Bound brings together love, loss, and unbridled passion in a way that only JL Quick could. It’s a story of navigating grief, rekindling love, and rediscovering passion, all with the danger of the mafia world looming. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a read that pulls at your heartstrings and sets your pulse racing with spicy scenes.🥵🔥🥰🖤

‘There is a certain freedom that comes with submission that is incomparable to anything else I have ever experienced.’

JL knows how to write submissive FMC so well!! Quinn was amazing, she had the right amount of bratty talk back attitude, but also knew when to be submissive. I loved the dynamic between Declan and her. There are many ways second chance romances can be written, honestly not my favorite trope, however the way this was written made me not dislike it too much.

“You look so fucking good, spread wide and dripping in anticipation of my touch.”

Declan is still mourning the loss of his wife, being intimate with another woman isn’t something in his mind. His priorities are his daughter and his brothers. Quinn went through a traumatic event that the Evan brothers feel responsible for, and have been trying to help her financially. However, Quinn does not like that one bit, she is an independent woman and doesn't feel right taking their money without actually earning it. The solution, she starts to nanny Declan’s daughter. Feelings that have been hiding start coming up again, Declan and Quinn realize they lost time on something that could have been amazing.

“When I say ‘stop,’ you stop. Your pleasure is at my will. You don’t come until you’re told.”

I really love the relationship the Brothers have with each other and I cannot wait to read more about them. Especially Finn, he is a womanizer and I cannot wait to read how he may settle down. Bound is now available on KU, you should go check it out if you like to read about mafia second chance romance, age gap, BDSM. You won’t regret it

Declan Evans and Quinn have been bound since they were kids. They are introduced in Owned, so to catch up, I suggest reading that one first. Declan has mourned his wife, Sarah death and us raising their daughter.

He feels at fault for what had happened to Quinn at the bar and still has feelings for her that never died. He let her go 15 years ago and can't imagine his life without her.

He is in need of a nanny, and Quinn refuses to take his money, tgat he gad been depositing into her account, so the solution is to hire her as the nanny. They both felt it was going to be a mistake, but in the end, it turned out for the best.

The way Drclan confessed his love and feelings to Quinn had my heart just full. Yes, at first, he was trying to keep her away because he promised to always love and be faithful to his wife, and then you had the incident with Quinn at the bar (read Owned first!!!), his lifestyle being dangerous. Declan and Quinn could not fight their feelings any longer, and they both gave in.

Danger does come knocking, and Declan had Madd a promise to Quinn to keep her safe, and that threw him into protective mode. He was going to go save her. I did want more of their story, and I hope we get to see a glimpse or two of them in the next book, which I can't wait. I gave Bound ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and the spice I rated it 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶, especially for the kitchen scene when they were walked in on. Loved it!!!

The Men of Club Triskelion, keep getting better with each book. Declan and Quinn's book definitely did not disappoint, if you love a cohesive story with all the spice, you'll want to add Bound to your TBR. You might, even, need a fan to cool you down when Sir comes out to play.
In Owned, you get a glimpse into the story behind Quinn and Declan and what went down in the bar, however, Bound gives you all the nitty gritty details. Please, before reading I would advise looking over the shopping list, because this story does have some pretty heavy topics. Declan, is the single dad that has experienced loss, he is a possessive obsessed german shepherd MMC, that will have your heart pitter-pattering. Quinn, is a strong FMC, that has been put through the ringer, and is still caring and genuine. These two characters are what the other needs in their healing journey.
If you enjoy a coherent story, that has stong character dynmanics, I can not recommend Bound enough. The side characters are just as important as the main characters, they make the story even more enjoyable. They keep you wanting to come back for more. The anticipation, of the rest of the storyline is real.
If you are in the mood for a single dad/nanny, forced Proximity, age gap, second chance, mafia romance, venture into the world of the Men of Club Triskelion.

Holy OBSESSED!! Declan I love so much! His character was everything from the start. The way he was so protective of his daughter and Quinn was truly mouth dropping! Quinn was one strong FMC! The things she’s had to endure would truly break anyone but not her and her love for Declan! I did read this one fast because I just couldn’t put it down. At so many points the book had me gasping or giggling and just on my toes waiting for what was about to happen next! The spice was definitely spicy! Overall I highly recommend adding this one to your tbr!

The way I need Finn’s book ASAP!! All his little side comments were EVERYTHING! I was giggling hard.

This is book 2 in the Men Of Club Triskelion, and I had read Owned (book 1 prior). This was more for context, as these can be read as standalones.

Declan is the eldest Evans brother, a widower/father/protector. He lost his wife just on 12 months ago. Quinn, the FMC, has been in their lives since they were all kids, so she has grown up and treated been like a little sister. But, Quinn and Declan have a shared history, and this unfolds as the story does. Quinn has been subject to the worse possible violation, and Declan blames himself entirely, it was his job to protect her.

There is quite a history between these two, but due to series of events that played out, Quinn hadn't been around for a number of years, and when she returns....well he's married and a father. The attraction to each other never faded, but Declan also struggles with the guilt of his wife that died, but these two, well, their connection is off the charts. There is still the underlying threat from the Bratva (that carries thru from book 1) and this only proves the love and devotion Declan has for his Quinn.

This book has some very heavy subjects so please ensure you are fully informed before diving in, but, for me, it is everything I love in a book. And these Evans Brothers, well, let's just say, I am looking forward to the next book(s) where, I am sure, the other brother's stories will be told.

After losing his wife a year ago, Declan Evans has gone through more nannies than he can count because they just can't handle his his stipulations of caring for his daughter. Enter Quinn O'Brien, his once childhood best friend, who he also has quite a complicated past with. She's now his new nanny, but she's also living a life she used to dream of. A life with her and Declan as a couple. Will living together drege up old feelings from the past, or will it complicate things between them more than they already are?

I love a good second chance romance, and Bound really delivered an excellent story. We meet Declan and his grumpy "old man" self in the first book. We learn a bit of the backstory about why Declan is so grumpy, but in this book we learn the rest of the reason as to why Declan's brothers nag him so much about his grumpy old man persona. That reason is Quinn. Declan and Quinn have such an incredible love story that really proves that love really can withstand distance and time. This book was even better than the last one. It will have you crying, in the edge of your seating, and fanning yourself from Declan's filthy talking ways. I love the family dynamic between the Evans brothers. They each bring such a different, great personality to every book. Finn is such a stand-out, hilarious character, and I can't wait to read his book.

I enjoyed this book. Declan, mourning the loss of his wife, needs a nanny and its perfect timing that Quinn needs a job. The need to be and feel independent is strong for her, and the Evans brothers have taken care of her for far to long.

Declan has ground rules when it comes to his daughter and her safety, and they disagree a lot.The chemistry is still burning between them, too. Someone is coming after Quinn and his daughter, and Declan will do all he can to protect them both.

I found it really hard to fall into this story.
It had everything I love in a book.

What's not to love ?

It made me a little sad. I couldn't quite put my finger on why. So this is just my own opinion on this. Or maybe I had an off day. I will set this aside and re-read another day. A second go around to see if it's just me. 😆
But all that aside, the suspense and action was great. The spice was steamy but didn't quite make gasp or anything. Declan gave me whiplash a little. But enough said I don't wanna give anything away. These are my opinions only.

I would definitely recommend it to read, though.

I am invested in this series. The Evans brothers are perfection, frankly. I was hoping that Declan and Quinn would find their way to each other, and they did in a way I wasn't expecting.

This book flirts with unrequited love and second chances to bring us a gorgeous love story of two lost souls. Declan is still mourning the death of his wife, and Quinn suffered unimaginably at the hands of the Bratva. When we added the nanny aspect, I was over the moon!

I wish that we actually spent time at Club Triskelion in this book. I understand the reasons why we don't in the beginning of the book, but I really missed that play. I was also disappointed that we didn't delve deeper into Declan's Shibari practice. I was looking forward to that piece of the story. However, the spice is still great and we do see some rigging. Plus the relationship between Declan and Quinn is beautiful. And the cast of characters, including the brothers, is too notch.

Please read Owned before you read this book. It sets up the underlying plot for Bound. Yes, you can read each as a standalone; I just think you shouldn't. You need the full picture. Besides, J.L. Quick's books are a fabulous way to spend your time.

Y’all know that Owned (book one of this series, Tristan and Layla’s story) was one of my top reads of this year… All I can say is move on over, Tris and Layla, because Daddy Declan is in the house 😍🎉
J.L. just has this way of bringing her readers to their knees. She’s been a one-click author for me for over a year now, and this is exactly why. These Irish Mafia men are a completely different breed.
We get only the best when it comes to her MCs: complex characters and the spice is always spicin’.
I’ve wanted Declan and Quinn’s story since we caught small glimpses in Owned, and I’m completely blown to pieces over them. Spoiler alert: I cried.
Quinn was such an amazing FMC—strong and resilient, but unknowing to the power she possessed. Loving and kind, despite the obstacles she’d overcome.
Declan is the man of my heart. I’m serious. I don’t think J.L. could write a better MMC than him… she probably can but Daddy, I love him and I’m not over it yet so let me have my moment 🤣

Anywho, y’all know what to do. Follow along for J.L.’s next journey, and find the time to catch up on the backlist. There’s plenty to keep you busy. Oh, and the best news? Bound is LIVE! So definitely binge the Men of Club Triskelion series 💋

Declan is a widowed father to a young girl, who he protects with everything he has. The problem? He can't keep a nanny on board to save his life. Enter Quinn. Quinn and Declan have a history with each other that we don't find out about until a bit later. Declan is just as protective of Quinn as he is his daughter, and he finds out that old habits really do die hard. When the bratva threatens Declan's daughter and Quinn, it's a race to ensure they remain safe or Declan could lose them both.

Declan and Quinn's relationship is simply **chef's kiss**. It was incredible to see the development from what happened to Quinn in book 1 of this series (Owned) to present, and I cannot wait to see Quinn and Declan in future books. Also, the spicy talk from Declan (the counter scene where he also needs to...eat...🥵)...SO good. OR the way Declan refers to Quinn as his "wife" throughout the book and the faces of his brothers AND Quinn when he does -- priceless.

I am absolutely loving this series by JL, and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here! While this book wrapped up in a nice way, I have a feeling there is more lingering under the surface when it comes to the bratva and what has transpired. I cannot wait to find out!

ARC Review -5⭐️

Bound is Book 2 in the Men of Club Triskelion series featuring Declan Evans & Quinn O’Brien.

Declan is a single dad to his daughter Fiona after his wife Sarah passed away from cancer. He is in need of a nanny for her, and his sister in law Layla suggest Quinn take the job on.

Quinn was close with the Evans brothers for many years before moving to Ireland. Upon returning to the states, she began working at the bar the Evans Brothers owned. After she was attacked by the Bratva at the club, the Evans’ have been paying her way. Quinn refuses to continue taking their money and not earning it so reluctantly agrees to become Fiona’s nanny.

Quinn and Declan have history and he let her get away once but now that they’re in close proximity again, the buried feelings come racing back to the surface.

Will Declan & Quinn finally be able to be together or will their enemies come for her once more ?

This book had me in a chokehold from page 1. So many different emotions and at times I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next! I adore this series and I can’t wait to see who is next !

Thank you J.L for the ARC !

Book Number 2 in the Men of Club Triskelion series, this book we Focus on Declan and Quinn’s relationship and boy oh boy was this one a red hot fiery ride.

Love that we still get all of the brothers in the book and see their characters grow more. Loved the banter that Dec and Finn have I laughed so hard in so many places with these two.

Declan’s possessiveness over Quinn is 💦💦💦 my goodness it’s what wet dreams are made of really. This one is beautiful not knowing these pair loved each other before and never stopped loving one another even after all those years. I loved that Quinn never tried to replace Fiona’s mother but told her that she loves her equally as much as her mother does. That right there had me balling.

Honestly poor Quinn has been through it all with these Bratva men, I’m so glad that the Evan’s Men prevailed and saved Quinn from them before anything happened. This girl did not need to go through that all over again.

All I know is I’m adding Irish Mafia to my ever growing list of Genres I love in my books. Call me mo chéadsearc any day!!

Bound is now available run don’t walk on this series especially if you’re like me and a slut for Mafia Books.
