'Long before the dawn of my civilisation, your kind existed.'
The Source has entered its final phase.
Fadin is in ruins following an influx rebellion and Sunsprit teeters on the brink. The Breaker wreaks havoc and a shadow of the Administration’s leadership works to annihilate everything, under new orders from the Source’s terrifying creators.
Separated from their friends by a strange anomaly, Kera and Diyan find themselves in a realm inhabited by confounding creatures eager to learn what became of one of their own. Meanwhile, Paran and Yena are drawn beneath Ringscape’s surface, where they uncover dark truths of the Vaesian past, and why it was purposely forgotten.
Can the mysteries within the Source be solved before it is too late?
The Stunning Finale – BOOK 3 OF THE TAPACHE'S PROMISE TRILOGY, SET IN THE WANDERER UNIVERSE.
Cerebral Sci-Fi with an emphasis on the 'Sci'. If you enjoy Hard Sci-Fi, complex Space Opera, and authors such as Iain M. Banks, Alastair Reynolds and Dan Simmons, then this is for you.
James Murdo was born and raised in London, where he still lives. He graduated from university with a Masters degree in Physics, which added fuel to his early love of science fiction. All of James' books are set in the Wanderer Universe.
James also created the Glossary Generator (software that quickly combs author manuscripts to help identify key terms that may be useful to include in glossaries). It can be found and used for free on James' website.
The concepts in the book are engaging and intriguing, completely undone by all the guffawing.
Every character seems to have an abundance of only one type of reaction: to guffaw. Are they surprised? no, they are guffawing... are they puzzled? no, guffawing... are they happy? still guffawing, shocked? no, just guffawing, alien? humanoid? only one main reaction available: guffawing. saddened? still guffawing, pick a number and wait for the next guffaw...
The author needs to branch out a LOT in describing how the various characters respond. Maybe someone buy him a thesaurus, to which he may just guffaw. Show him how to use it, he will probably guffaw. And then get one for his guffawing editor who should have done a much better job in being creative with all the guffawing...
I really, really hope that any succeeding story (and there is clearly another installment after Tapache's Promise 3) that the guffawing gets left behind in the Milky Way.
If you're tired of reading all the guffawing, now you might begin to understand how incredibly annoying it is to read of that mono-reaction, at times, several times on one page....
And don't get me started on the whining of some of the characters... They are like 7 year olds: "are we there yet?".
So, the main ideas behind all the guffawing are quite good and makes the read endurable, but only just... Can I recommend it? An editor needs some serious attention to all the guffawing. Make them laugh or cry occasionally... Very mixed feeling on recommending the series...
