HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS by Dana R. Lynn is a fantastic read! It is the 20th book in the Amish Country Justice series. It is so wonderful that I immediately went on the hunt for the previous books that I somehow missed. HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS is the story Miriam who is suffering and goes on the run. Her husband was murdered and now her friend has just met the same fate. Even though this book is part of a series and the two main characters were side characters in previous books, it can be read as a stand alone.

After reaching her limit, Miriam decides she has to get away. The safest place she can think of going is off to Amish country where she was once part of the community. With no place else to turn, she covers her tracks and takes refuge with Caleb Schultz, an Amish man who she used to know. I found myself cheering for Miriam and hoping she could escape the evil that was following her. Caleb has such a big heart and all he wants to do is keep Miriam and her daughter safe. The action in HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS starts immediately and never stops. If you are a fan of Christian suspense, you don’t wait to miss this twisty story!

Will Miriam & Caleb continue to care for one another or will they resign themselves to the fact that they can never be? And if they do continue to care for one another, which one will have to make the change to make themselves work? I quickly found myself immersed in the story, desperately hoping that Caleb and Miriam could outwit a killer. I loved how Dana made me feel all of the anxiety and tension that the characters were dealing with in HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS. Besides all of that, there is also romance, forgiveness, and healing. A perfect way to spend the day on the couch with your favorite beverage, lost in the pages of a heart tugging but beautiful story.

This book left me smiling after I closed it. It had one of my favorite endings, which I obviously can’t share, because you need to read this for yourself.

Mariam Troyer was being hunted by the man who killed her husband. As the murderer chases her down, he hits her with a truck and leaves her with amnesia. Caleb Schultz saw what was happening, found her daughter, and rescued Mariam, and immediately felt this strong pull to protect her, even though he had no idea what was going on.

The story had just the right number of characters. I know that’s an odd thing to say, but even though there were quite a few, it wasn’t overwhelming. I didn’t lose track of anyone. I liked Mariam. And apparently, if I’d read some of the earlier books in this series, I might not have, and I might have felt the same way about her as Caleb did at first. Yes, he wanted to help her, but he also knew who she used to be, someone a bit self-centered. But that’s not the Mariam we meet now. She’s a loving, fiercely protective mom who would do anything for her daughter, Ella Mae.

Caleb has his own complicated past. Oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to have any major flaws, despite having been in a coma for three years. That kind of experience changes a person, and I think that’s partly what connects him and Mariam. They both lost time, and that helped them understand each other in a way others couldn’t.

Throughout the book, it was clear Mariam was being hunted, but the reason stayed just out of reach. The author did a fantastic job dropping just enough clues to keep me guessing, especially with one of the side characters. I thought I had it figured out… but I was wrong. I was genuinely surprised when the truth came out. I’d expected something completely different, so I really appreciated the twist.

I loved the suspense, but the romance had just as much weight in the story. Normally, I find that a little hard to buy, falling in love during something traumatic, but Dana R. Lynn made it work. I can’t even tell you how. It just did. It felt natural and earned.

I’ll definitely be reading more from this author and diving deeper into this series.

Hunting the Amish Witness by Dana R. Lynn is the 20th book in her Amish Country Justice series. It can be read as a standalone. Miriam left her Amish community and married an Englisher who she begins to not trust and is suspicious of his business dealings. Miriam witnesses his murder and now her best friends by the same man. On the run with her young daughter brings her back to her Amish community. Fast paced, suspenseful, well developed characters, and full of Faith and Family. A must read. Thank you for this Arc. This is my honest review. Releases July 29, 2025

miriam troyer's on the run for her life—and her baby's life—and ends up running right back to the community she left behind over a decade ago. caleb schultz remembers the person she used to be, but when an accident leaves her with no memory, he can't resist helping her. but how much help is he, really, when the danger seems to find them at every turn?

dana r. lynn's hiding the amish witness is a fast-paced read. though the killer is known from the beginning, there's still suspense in how much damage he can do before he's caught. readers of the amish country justice will love all the familiar characters and connections who come alongside miriam and caleb to help and protect (though a newer reader might be a little overwhelmed).

i wish the romance was a little more developed. i get that they were spending a lot of time together, but it still felt out of the blue when caleb, at least, realized he was in love.

still, hiding the amish witness could be quite the exciting read for a reader of romantic suspense, especially if you love amish characters, faith amidst chaos, and "prodigal son" type stories.

(i received a complimentary copy from the author. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)

considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: amish community, mentions of God, prayer, and the bible
—content: murder, kidnapping, mention of drugs and a fatal car accident

This story was action and emotion packed right from the very beginning! There’s a brief portion of the story in which Miriam is suffering from amnesia due to an injury, yet she still feels a connection to her baby daughter. That was very sweet to see her care about her even before her memories began to return.

My heart hurt for Miriam as she learned about the way she treated others in the past. It was heartwarming to find out that she was now a believer and was a much more caring and compassionate person.

Caleb was such a good man and it was sweet to see him begin to fall for Miriam as he spent time trying to protect her and her daughter. He could see how much she had changed. Yet, she was not Amish anymore and was obviously in danger, too, making a future together a complicated thing for these two to think about.

Miriam gave up her Amish family to join the English world. Now, with a young baby daughter, she is running for her life. There is a lot of danger in the story, wonderful main characters, and twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

The characters that were hunting Miriam are convincingly evil. It kept a lot of tension going in the story. Despite the danger and wounds that were inflicted, Miriam, though terrified, was so courageous. I kept rooting for her. The ending wrapped everything up well, and I enjoyed the sweet romance. Another wonderful book in the series, which I highly recommend. It will keep you guessing.

Non-stop action, loyal friends and family, a sweet baby, and a strong faith theme make this an excellent read in the genre . . .

Miriam Troyer grew up in a close-knit Amish community, but soon left the faith to begin a life as an Englischer. She married a man whom she thought she knew, but he turned out to be a stranger. As time went on, he became secretive, distant, and non-communicative.

Miriam eventually learns that her husband is caught up in some dangerous business deals and soon he is murdered by his so-called partners in crime. Unfortunately for Miriam, she was a witness to the murder so now the killer is forced to get rid of her.

After another murder, Miriam knows she must escape along with her baby girl to seek safety. After a high-speed chase by the pursuers, the cat and mouse plot truly begins as the killer deftly terrorizes Miriam and everyone around her in his efforts to silence her forever.

The tension grows when it is discovered that she has amnesia following the harrowing chase. The author's depiction of how confused Miriam was at this time touched my heart because Baby Ella Mae's powerful connection to her mother reached deep down into Miriam's heart and soul.

Caleb Schultz, a schoolmate of Miriam's from years earlier, was a major part of the success of this novel in my opinion. Caleb's family pitched in to joyfully care for the baby. Law enforcement officers who were part of the extended family assisted as much as possible, and everyone worked together to find justice for Miriam and Ella Mae.

The strong and positive faith message throughout this story was a highlight of the book for me. The book is completely clean in language and thought.

This is book 20 in the Amish Country Justice but each can be read as a stand-alone. Although if you have read previous books you will get glimpses of some characters. I have not read them all but every one that I have read has kept my attention throughout. If you are looking for a quick read that keeps you turning pages quickly to see the outcome then look no further. I was cheering for Miriam and the safety of her and baby Ella Mae. She was brave and how she changed into the woman she is was profound. It is high octane from beginning to end and you will not want to put it down. Pick up a copy and settle in for an entertaining, well written story with characters you will love.

Dana Lynn has done it again.. This is a hard to put down read from the 1st page until the last. If you like a good Amish read with a lot of action this book is for you. I enjoyed the fast pace and the second chance at romance.
Miriam Troyer left the Amish faith, married and has an infant daughter. She has witnessed a murder and is on the run when she is in a hit and run accident. Caleb Schultz witnesses the hit and run and hurries to help the woman and her daughter. He can’t believe he is seeing an Amish woman whom he has not seen in over 10 years. He remembers her as not being a very nice person but he vows to help her now that she has lost her memory, not even recognizing her daughter. Hunting The Amish Witness is an exciting fast-paced story that I didn't want to put down.
Miriam witnesses a crime and flees back to her Amish community with her daughter. On the way, she's chased and then wrecks her car only to wake up to find she has amnesia. Caleb sees what happens to a car and runs to help. Only he to find a woman who had been selfish and hurtful when she was younger. But he can't leave her and her baby alone to cope. Not when a dangerous criminal is not giving up on trying to kill her.

This book starts with drama and keeps it going throughout the book. I enjoyed the storyline and the action.
Miriam and her infant have been working and trying to hide from a killer. Is he out for revenge or what? Will she be able to find a new hiding place or will he catch up to her? Who will help her?

Check it out!

One note: There were quite a few grammatical or typing errors in this book when I read it on my kindle.

HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS by Dana R. Lynn is the astonishing, fast-paced, suspense story of Miriam Troyer, her baby-Ella Mae and Caleb Schultz as they try to maneuver the Englisch/Amish differences, dodge danger in order to stay alive and guard their hearts.

Although raised Amish, Miriam found she didn’t want be Amish. Shortly after leaving her community, she married Tim. She soon learns he wasn’t who she thought he was. An overheard conversation confirmed her suspicions. Now pregnant, she knows she will not raise this baby in such an environment, but leaving takes money. She starts stashing money. The decision when to leave was taken out of her hands when she witnessed her husband’s murder. Her testimony sentenced the killer to jail. Moving and changing their names back to Troyer, she tried to put it all behind her. With her daed dead and her sister married to the man whose heart she broke, going home feels impossible, but she now realizes that being Amish wasn’t so bad.

Miriam comes home from work to find her roommate murdered and once again looking into those killer eyes. While on the run, Miriam’s car hits empty close to Sutter Springs. On foot now and seeing his truck coming, she slides the baby carrier off the road and down the incline hopefully to safety. The truck slams into her. Coming to she finds two Amish men looking over her while she has no memory of who she is or that she’s a mother.

Caleb witnessed the truck slam into a woman flipping her like a ragdoll and then speeding away. Running to assist, they find the woman and a baby. When the doctor arrives, it’s revealed she had been shot as well. The police are called. Later outside, Caleb noticed the truck coming back. Shots were fired. Miriam was grazed, Lucas shot in the shoulder and the doctor was shot in the back. Caleb knew Miriam in their youth as being self-centered, but he’s determined he’ll keep her safe. He knows how it feels to not remember anything after being in a coma himself for 3 years. He offers up his home as a refuge from this madman.

Can Miriam and Caleb stay one step ahead of this killer attacks? Will Ella Mae have Caleb dreaming about what he had given up hope on? Can Miriam prove that she is no long the girl she once was? Why are these men so determined to get to both Miriam and her baby? Will Caleb chance a broke heart when he knows without a doubt that he will never leave his family or his beliefs?

Dana R. Lynn gives us a story of mystery, intrigue, second chances, romance, suspense, forgiveness, family and wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith. HUNTING THE AMISH WITNESS is a magnificent FIVE-STAR story that I highly recommend!

I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Fast-paced story that grabbed my attention in the first pages and kept me hooked to the end. We first met Miriam in Amish Witness to Murder, as Beth's sister, who had left the Amish community, briefly reappeared and then disappeared again. The book opens as she witnesses a second murder by the man who killed her Englisher husband. She flees the scene with her baby, heading for the only place she feels safe - her old hometown. The murderer is hot on her heels, and she barely survives the hit-and-run attack that leaves her with no memory.

Caleb witnesses the attack and saves her and her baby. He's stunned when he recognizes Miriam as the troublemaking girl from his youth. He steps up to protect them despite his wariness over her past. Something about her keeps him determined to stay near.

The suspense is intense from start to finish. The man and his companions who pursue her are determined and ruthless. The escalating attacks kept me glued to the pages as they evaded gunfire and attempted kidnapping. The final confrontation was a nail-biter with a heart-pounding conclusion.

I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Miriam and Caleb. Caleb is wary of her due to her past actions and her current status as an Englisher. He has no intention of leaving the Amish community, so a relationship with her is impossible. Miriam has changed since becoming a mother and tries to overcome her past actions. They grow closer, but their lives remain on different tracks. I ached for Caleb, who fell hard for Miriam. Miriam must take a hard look at her life and what she wants for her future. I liked how she was honest with Caleb about her feelings and that she took her time to be sure of what she wanted. The epilogue was fantastic.

I enjoyed seeing characters from earlier books, especially Steve and Miriam's sister, Beth.

Like any good, suspenseful read, Hunting the Amish Witness pops off within the first few sentences, and we are off on a tense adventure, trying to piece together why Miriam is being hunted, which becomes increasingly difficult, especially when Miriam is attacked and ends up losing her memory. It’s up to Caleb, an old childhood friend, to help her sort everything out while protecting Miriam and her sweet baby girl, Ella Mae, from an unknown assailant.

The Love Inspired Suspense series is so great as it plunges readers into a new world so quickly that it’s easy to get lost in the narrative, especially when you add an intriguing premise as well as engaging characters that you can’t help but root for. I appreciated the faith aspect as well as the page-turning urgency I felt the entire time I was reading. This world felt familiar, like a cozy blanket to my soul, almost like I knew these characters personally. Both Caleb and Miriam have been through so much that you can’t help but want the best for them.

This ending was truly touching and left me with a smile on my face. There’s nothing better than a satisfying happily-ever-after after such a rollercoaster of a story. I always enjoy Amish fiction so much, and this novel was no exception. A quick read with depth as well as heart? You can’t ask for anything more.

Hunting The Amish Witness is a wonderful suspense-filled novel with some romance thrown in to keep it sweet and a baby too! Miriam Troyer left behind her Amish roots to go out into the world. She got married and had a baby. But her husband wasn’t quite who she thought he was. And when he’s murdered, she’s not sure what to do.

But things really get out of hand when her best friend is also murdered!

Can Miriam keep herself and her baby safe? She decides to flee. Where will she be safe? As she’s chased, she heads to the only place she thinks she might find safety.

But when she’s run off the road, she knows this guy means business, plus she’s already had her arm hit with a bullet. The last thing she thinks about is keeping her baby safe as the car barrels down on her beside the road. Yeap, that’s right. She has some amnesia, but she’s in good hands with a man who knew her as a child. I mean, he was also a child with her, nothing creepy there.

Grab your copy to see if he can keep Miriam safe! Will she ever remember who she is?

Amish Fiction books are my favorite genre of books. I LOVE the Inspired Suspense series of books. Hunting the Amish Witness by Dana R. Lynn is Book 20 in the Amish Country Justice series. I have read a few titles in the series and each one is a great Standalone book.

I can honestly say this book took a different path that what I thought it would be. I really enjoyed the storyline due to the non predictabliltiy of the storyline. The main characters in this book are Miriam Troyer and Caleb Schultz. Miriam is a Witness to murders and is now on the run for the safety of herself and her daughter. Miriam has returned to her Amish Community to outrun the Suspect who killed her husband and best friend. Caleb Schultz remembers Miriam from the past and wants to help Miriam and protect them. I truly LOVED Miriam's determination to keep safe and not become a victim. Caleb was an amazing character and I LOVE his heart of protection for Miriam and her daughter. The relationship that came for Miriam and Caleb was heartwarming and a sweet romance. The storyline certainly had many twists and turns which kept the book very interesting. The book has Mystery, Suspense, Faith and Family! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish Fiction, Suspense, and Romance WONDERFUL BOOK!

I have come to really love these characters and their life journey’s it’s so nice to be able to travel with them as they move from chapter to chapter, in this book we follow Miriam who is facing a life threatening path, each move can be her last and yet with each step it can also lead her to her true destination, does she have the strength to keep moving or will she fall to her life choices? This is truly a wonderful read and I am sure all will enjoy it as I did. I was blessed to be given a copy but not asked to leave a review, I’m happy to thought and highly suggest not only this book but the entire series.

This newest Amish Country Justice book was jam packed with suspense, intrigue and danger around every corner.

There was nowhere safe for Miriam Troyer and her baby. Although she was on the run for her life and scared silly, she was still very strong-willed, instinctual and knew how to to survive. This was not only a great mystery, but it was also a tender, touching story filled with wonderful characters who truly cared about others and felt it was their Christian duty to be there for Miriam and her child, even if it put them in harm's way. There is a lesson to be learned here as these people put someone else's needs above their own. The storyline was fantastic and interesting. I am never disappointed in an Amish Country Justice book by this author. This is another winner for this series.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After giving up her Amish life to become an "Englisher", widow Miriam Troyer finds herself fleeing, with her baby daughter, back to that community after witnessing two murders. Finding Miriam attacked and left with amnesia, former schoolmate Caleb Schultz protects her and her baby, though he has no fond memories of her. Is she still selfish and vain?
Finding the Amish Witness, by author Dana Lynn, will keep your eyes glued to the pages. The action and suspense, coupled with threads of faith, trust, growth, redemption, resilience, and love, make this an "un-put-downable" read. Plus it has my favorite, an epilogue!

Miriam Troyer discovered her best friend's body and realizes the killer is the same evil man that murdered her husband. Miriam takes off running with her daughter and seeks refuge in the place she once left behind, her Amish community. The killer catches up with her and after an attack she loses her memory. Caleb Schultz shows up who knew Miriam before she left the Amish and must protect Miriam and her daughter. The killer is determined that nothing will stop him from silencing Miriam for good and doesn't matter who gets in his way. He wants his revenge. This book was full of suspense with some twists. It also had a great story about redemption and changing your ways to the better. Definitely recommend!

This book had a thrilling plot full of adventure right from the beginning until the very end. I liked getting to know the main characters Miriam, Ella Mae and Caleb as they run for their lives against a group of drug dealers and killers. Things are not as they seem and Miriam doesn’t know who to trust when an accident leaves her with no memory.

I liked the suspenseful plot, great characters, and Amish community setting. I recognized the characters mentioned in this book from the author’s previous Amish Country Justice novels. If you like on the edge of your seat action and clean romance, you will love this one!

Fleeing the man who killed both her husband and best friend, Miriam Troyer returns to the Amish community where she once belonged. Miriam's childhood friend, Caleb Schultz, finds Miriam with her baby after he witnesses her being attacked. He becomes determined to protect Miriam and her baby girl.

Hunting the Amish Witness is a second chance story filled with danger and narrow escapes. Having a baby involved ramps up the apprehension for the reader, making the book even more intriguing. The action is nonstop and kept me glued to the edge of my seat to find out what would happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, inspirational suspense.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.Although it is connected to the Amish County Justice series, it can be read as a stand-alone.I will admit it does make me want to read the books in the series that I missed. When Miriam finds her friend dead, she is on the go and running for her life and meets Caleb Schultz. During being on the go with Caleb and trying to save her life, she reconnects to her past and realizes it was it was what she was searching for. It was a very suspenseful book, and one I could not put down..
I was given an advance reader copy and was not obligated to write this review.

This was an interesting story. I appreciated reading about the kindness and acceptance of the Amish community for one who was putting them all in danger.

Although it was a standalone book, it brought together characters from previous suspense stories. Since I hadn’t read the others, the amount of tragedies brought up from past books was almost unbelievable.

I liked the way Miriam and Caleb faced everything together, but I got tired of hearing over and over that she didn’t have the spoiled attitude she did when she was young. After he realized it once or twice, I don’t know why it still caught him by surprise.
