5-"In for me, out for you" stars
To say I loved this book is a understatement. I loved everything about it. I had the full circle of emotions effected. I could be laughing one minute and crying the next. I loved every single character.
It was a long book (that doesn't bother me) and it have a hint of insta-love but damnit I believed it for them.
Cannon- what perfect man. He was supportive, funny, and super hot. He was just THERE for Lizzie when she needed him. He has earned top book boyfriend material. He never wavered in adoration for his girl. Above that he loved her brother. That was so important.
Lizzie- well what can I say. She was the bar that every female lead should dare to reach. She was a unapologetic bitch one minute and then grab you right in the emotions the next. I adored her.
Rhett- NEED HIS BOOK!!! He broke my heart.
I'd like to end this review on a personal note. Many of you know my youngest son (7) is disabled. So when I read about Conner, it really hit me where it may not hit a lot of people. When I saw his interaction with his sister, I saw my 9 year old's relationship with his younger brother. We teach him compassion, we teach him that his brother is the most important person in his life, that they will always be the 2 of them against the world, and that they have an relationship that is unbreakable. I would like to think that if something would happen to my husband and I, that my 9 year old son in the future would act like Lizzie did in this book. A siblings love never wavers. Esp in these situations where your sibling depends on you. It's a beautiful thing that can never be conquered. Here is a picture of my son, pushing his brother (who can't run) in a local race. He volunteers to do this. He says it's something they can always do together.

About a year ago I read a book with feet on the cover ( I know weird but check it out now- it's beautiful) called Emerge by S.E. Hall. I sat down and devoured that baby in ONE sitting. Stayed up all night to finish. I never in my life had been more in love with a book. Until now.

Oh the mystery right?! Well, you know it's obviously about a band and tour bus. Let me set the record straight. This girl LURVES rockstar/musicians. Kellan Kyle, Dane Kendrick- YES! This is SO MUCH more than that. Yes, they are musicians. They are on tour but that is a very tiny snippet of what this story is.
Elizabeth (Liz) Carmichael has suffered from a very broken past. Now on tour with her two best friends Jarrett and Rhett Foster & her brother Conner- she is a complete control freak. After losing the other girl in their band (and by losing I mean Liz kicking her off the bus) they are in desperate need for a guitarist.
Enter Cannon swoonworthy pantie dropping Blackwell. Sure Liz finds him on a park bench and he's possibly a hobo but what do they have to lose. With his guitar in hand - he is given the opportunity of a lifetime. Cannon has a bit of a mystery to him so you are drawn to him immediately. He throws back everything Liz hands to him. Of course the sparks are off the chart between them but Liz is way too absorbed in her own issues to even consider anything ever happening between the two of them.
Let's backtrack a little and inform the world. Cannon will make the world fall in love with him no doubt. Jarrett is the bad boy so yea, the girls who love the naughty ones will love him. Rhett- "Broodingly intense and analytical to a fault." I.claim.Rhett. Like, if I were a male dog I would be peeing all over- marking my territory-
*"I would die for you and kill myself if my life ever didn't include you in it."
I.love.him. He's mine.mine. mine. <-- Got it? I can bring in my Nemo seagulls if needed ;)
Moving on, you learn all kinds of *spoilers* that I can not spell out but I will tell you this, just when you think the story is over- it's just getting started. This story isn't just a story. It's a beautiful masterpiece of words fused together eloquently in between a gorgeous cover that will forever be a part of your soul after reading. S.E. Hall outdid herself. Conner Carmichael (Beautiful Boy) moved my heart in a way none other have. The bond between him and Liz is one I have never experienced nor do I want to ever again because it's theirs. Every once in a while in life you meet people that change you. Change your heart. Change your views. Make you want to be better. Conner will be that person. He's just precious and I want to carry him around in my pocket every.single.day.
Before I leave I want to leave some highlights that I loved. Sure none will make sense til after you read but I promise- these words will MEAN something to you after

I.CAN.NOT.WAIT.FOR.RHETT'S.STORY.
Chapter 34-39 THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING MOMENTS. BUT THEY ALL CONTAIN SPOILERS. Just know this I ugly cried from chap 33- epi. Not from sadness. I wept from joy, from the beautiful story unfolding, from the love story that makes you want your love story to be even a tenth as amazing. Liz and Cannon's love story is a "Noah and Allie" type love story. The kind that makes you realize loving someone means loving their flaws. Their flaws are what lead them to the path you were on in the first place.
The EPILOGUE. this Epi. OMG. One of the best I have ever read in any book ever of all time for ever and ever amen. It's just.. perfect. PERFECT.
TCo rating- as many stars as I can give. HUGE SHINY BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN STARS.
THIS BOOK IS IN MY TOP 5 BOOKS OF ALL TIME. JUST FLIPPING PERFECT.

Well I'm back to poop on another party...
Me + Pretty Instinct = NOT COMPATIBLE
Now, I will say I have read all of S.E. Hall's books, and have liked what I have read but for some reason this one just did not work for me.
There was something off about the writing. And I just didn't think the story made much sense.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD:
The story begins with the heroine, Liz/Lizzie/Elizabeth/Bethy, at her mother's funeral...along with her two best friends, Rhett and Jarrett (brothers) and her brother, Conner. And it's apparent that for some reason Liz hates her father.
We flash forward seven years and Rhett, Jarrett and Liz (along with Cami and Bruce) are about to embark on a music "tour". Now I use that term very loosely because they were not a well known band. It was more something they just did for fun I think. Honestly...
Cami says something derogatory towards Conner and she gets kicked out of the band. They drop her off at a rest stop and pick up a new guitar player while they are there, enter our hero, Cannon.
And so their journey begins....
Frankly for most of the book, I didn't think Liz was a very nice person.
Her whole past was just one big WTF for me. What happens is a big mystery and then once it's revealed...IDK, I was just kind of left going...
We also had a MAJOR case of insta-love between Cannon and Liz. And once they got together, I'm sorry but they were nauseating.
The dialogue was over the top cheesy and if I had to read Cannon ask for a "nibble"--as in a kiss--one more time.
I honestly skimmed from 15% on. Basically the whole damn book. Don't ask me why I didn't just DNF.
At one point, I even thought there was going to be a love triangle.
IDK..the dynamics of the group, combined with the writing, the cheesy dialogue, the OTT insta love connection, and the plot that just didn't come together for me....I have to give this one a big NO. I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series.

I was given a ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really, really love this story. It possibly MAY be my favorite
S.E.Hall book. And Cannon, sweet baby Jesus, he gives Sawyer a run for
his money.
We meet Lizzie and her merry band at the funeral of her mother. It is
truly a sad day for the bunch and thank God for Jarrett and Rhett,
those boys crack me up. Years later and the gang is on the road,
traveling and performing shows all over. They lose one of their
bassists and realize they need a new one. They make a pit stop and
find the perfect candidate for the job. Cannon Blackwell. The group
decides to see what talent he has and brings him aboard.Things heat up along their journey and it is intense. Pretty Instinct is probably my most favorite of Stefani's books to date. Cannon puts Sawyer to shame with his charm, wit, sexiness and dirty, sexy mouth. He takes you ride you never want to get off on ( literally and figuratively ;-) there are some twists and turns and many unexpected surprises! some parts I was shocked and Stef had me!! she had me. You will know when you read. And the ending, it was so perfect. Truly beautiful in S.E.hall fashion and I am bawling my eyes out. Trust me, you will WANT to read this! one of the best books Stefani has done and best and most touching books out there this book pulls on all those heart strings!
Will Lizzie be able to not fall head over heels for Cannon? will she ever forgive her father? you will have to read to find out.

It has been almost a year since I was introduced to S.E.Hall. I read her first book Emerge for our blog. Going into it I had no clue she would be changing a lot of lives over the course of a year!
I have been super confident that nothing would EVER compare to Emerge, that was until NOW! Pretty Instinct took my emotions to places I didn't even know were there! S.E.Hall can hit you with words, or one liners like no other! You will be laughing one minute, and sobbing your face off the next with her ability to do just that, bring out those emotions! Ok---I'll get on with the reason why we are here Pretty Instinct!! I needed a few days to find the right words. Speechless was where I was at! <<<<<<< that NEVER happens! Ask anyone that knows me!
We meet Elizabeth Carmichael to her friends and family it's Liz. In a band with her best friends Jarrett and Rhett <<<<<
As Cannon settles in as the new band member we get to see where the other guys fit into Liz's life! Let me just say I want my own Rhett,Jarrett, and Conner. The relationships she has with them are amazing! Conner Liz's brother will steal your heart and never give it back! He reminds you what unconditional love is really all about! His innocence will make your heart melt. He makes you strive to be a better person everyday. Jarrett and Rhett are going to have you swooning! I can't wait to get more of those guys! <<<<<<<<< we have hit the MOTHER load with these two! I need more of them NOW! The way they protect Liz and Conner is amazing. The bond they all share is one to be jealous of.
Cannon and Liz's journey isn't easy, it's heartbreaking at times, but it just makes them fight for it that much more. Liz has been dealt a past that nobody would want handed to them. Cannon has to tear down those walls, and it's not easy. I love these two! You will be cheering them on the entire time. Will Liz let Cannon into her heart? I won't spoil but just know it's an emotional, crazy, hilarious, sob your face off kind of ride! I loved every single minute of it. The Epi!!!! OH MY WORD! I had to read it at least 3 times to get through my tears!!!! It will squeeze your heart so tight, breathing won't be an option! Beautiful!!

I need a nibble Cannon ....yum ! I absolutely loved this book,not read anything as moving in a long time , it was everything a good book need sexy men , intriguing storyline ,and comedy moments I just loved it, it's doesn't end on a cliffy so a bonus , but I definitely look forward to other books from this author .

I am going to go purely on My Pretty Instinct with this review and say if there was a 10-star book this is it! I cried, I laughed, I giggled, I snaughed (snort laughed), laugh cry, cry laugh, and felt every single emotion there is to have in a person. This story warms the heart and soul. It shows the innocence of every single love there is to attain, earn, cherish, and feel, but best of all it teaches about FORGIVENESS. An emotion that has long gone been extinct, but necessary in order to find true happiness. The characters are fantastic. They all bring different attitudes to the field and blow it out of the ballpark.
Lizzie is a spitfire, feisty, and a kitten. Adore her. Cannon (my babe) is a Dominant Alpha Male and such a hunk! She is an angel-devil or rather a Witchy Siren. He is a man who had his life planned by others. Together they are, lyricists, two different sides to one coin. I can honestly pledge that I have a new BBF and he can take me on an adventure anytime.
I love this book!! HONESTLY I DO. All the different references to songs, movies, and 'isms' I FLOVE. There is no one way to describe this book because it has so much awesomeness. All the advice or rather life lessons being passed down are spot on! This is a great guide and can be used as a 'how to' book. This book is so close to my heart because I can honestly relate to about 60% of it. Been there done that and to see it in print, (from such an amazing author at that), I can truly believe now what others have seen: THAT I AM STRONG. Amazing, Fantastic, and Wonderful!

Absolute perfection!!!!!! Love it love it love it!! Can't fault a single thing about this book. Loved it from start to finish. This author did not disappoint. Bethy/Lizzy was an amazing character. Yeah she had a lot of hate issues but her snarkiness was highlarious!! She had it all. Absolutely adored her brother Connor, he brought a lot of joy to the story aswell. I loved Rhett and Jarrett a lot too, both those boys were so loyal to her and loved her and Connor so much, it was a beautiful tight knit group/family to read about. Even uncle Bruce, though small brief appearances was a great character too. Then came Cannon.......from the moment he came into the group you knew he was gonna be a top book boyfriend. Ahhhhh so swoon worthy and very very dirty once the sexy times came ;) How he came to them was different but it was fate!! I really enjoyed the easy banter between the group, so many funny moments. The overall dialogue from Bethy was funny. The way her mind worked was quirky and feisty. Though most of the book is in her POV you do get a couple of chapters in Cannons so that was really good as I love dual POV novels. If you loved the Evolve series you will definitely love this one too. Again it was absolute perfection!

Can I just say I loved this book? It is so much more than a hot romance with a hot rocker..... it's all about family, love, forgiveness and redemption. About learning to trust and love..... to accept the good things in the world and learn to forgive those that love you most.
This is a book about caring more for others than yourself.
Cannon and Lizzy will stay with me a long time. Just a wonderful book. My first read from S.E. Hall. Will not be my last.

I ADORE SE Hall and have loved EVERY single one of her books! The Evolve series is probably my most favorite series...EVER. I really never thought she would write anything to top it...until I read Pretty Instinct. O...M...effing....G!!! This book is beyond AMAZING! Yes, it is a love story, but it is so much MORE than that as well. It is a story about friendship and family and finding yourself. Liz, Conner, Cannon, Jarrett, Rhett...I fell in love with every single one of these characters.
Liz is an incredible, strong, sassy, stubborn, hard loving, funny as hell and devoted woman who has had a shit hand of cards dealt to her in life. She is making the most of it and is totally dedicated to her brother, Conner, and her two best friends, Rhett and Jarrett. The relationships between these four is so heart warming and sweet. I truly envied the way they loved each other and how dedicated they were to one another. And while Liz is certainly not lacking in friend/family love, she is severely deprived in the romance/sex department. This is just one of the many sacrifices she has made to care for her brother. Thankfully, her luck is about to change....enter one Mr. Cannon Blackwell...
Cannon Blackwell...SA...MOTHEREFFING...WOON!!! This man could charm the panties off a nun and a Baptist preacher...if a Baptist preacher wore panties ;) Seriously, Cannon is maybe the most perfect book boyfriend EVER! He is gorgeous, funny, charming, takes control in the bedroom;), protective, understanding and just all around PERFECT! Did I mention that he sings and plays guitar? I'm getting all giddy and a little damp just thinking about him...for reelz! Cannon comes into Liz's life just when she needs him most and he is her soul mate. These two are MFEO...made for each other. Their banter and their sass will have you laughing out loud...often. And their steaminess....good LAWD...it will have you fanning yourself and waking up your hubby or BF for a little "relief" if you know what I mean ;)

I will write a review when it gets closer. Just know this is a book everyone should read it has a little bit of everything you could want in a book. It was just a special story that will touch your heart and everything you think about in life. So put this book on your tbr list cause this is an amazing brilliant story. Cannon though wow this man will blow you away with the patients he has. And let's not forget Connor sweet lovable and hilarious what he teaches you in this book is everyone has feelings no matter who you are or what happens in life. He is a negotiating person. Teaching you to value the little things in life that we all take for granted sometimes. But this group is a family and they grow and learn many secrets along the way. So this book offers a lot

I loved everything about Pretty Instinct. S.E. Hall has perfected the art of writing yet again.
Pretty Instinct is full of emotions. Be prepared for that ugly cry, yeah you know that cry where you eyes are puffy, nose is running, and you have a bunch of tissues. The emotions of the character's became my own.
Liz had a very mother hen vibe coming from her,especially when it comes to Conner. She makes sure everyone around her taken care of.
Cannon Blackwell is completely swoon worthy. You will be fanning yourself and wishing he could "have a nibble" of you.

Songs played a huge part in Pretty Instinct, any book that can reference The Beatles, and do it perfectly, is going to kick butt.

I have read all of SE Hall's books and they are all amazing. I'm not just saying that because she's a talented, wonderful, sassy, take no crap, loving, caring person and author. I truly mean it. The way she has with words that draws you into her characters is like no other. No one compares. I was a steadfast Sawyer fan through the entire Evolve series and I never swayed for one second. Cannon Blackwell made me sway. Do you know how hard that is to do? To lean away from Sawyer Beckett toward any other book boyfriend? I know some you you Elite do! Anyway, I think that in itself is a glowing review for an author. Telling them that one of their readers' Top 10 book boyfriends of all time is going to lose their slot to their new leading man. Cannon Blackwell. Sigh. I literally sigh every time I say his name.
Cannon is stranded in the middle of nowhere with a duffle bag and his guitar, when he is approached by Liz, the lead singer of a band in desperate need for a new bass player. He's instantly drawn to her and she to him. He agrees to join them after jumping though a few hoops which had me laughing out loud! The band consists of Lizzie's two best friends Jarrett and Rhett and her brother Conner. Cannon becomes part of the family and is bewitched by his Siren, Lizzie. He has some baggage which Lizzie has a hard time getting over, and she has ghosts in her past that make her question everything. He's sure of himself and what he wants. He's sexy and talented which is what drew her in. But, he's smooth and sincere and wears his heart on his sleeve. I haven't wanted to be a leading female character as much as I wanted to be Lizzie. I wanted to hear Cannon say those things to me. Sing to me. He's just amazing. Period. She thinks they are moving too fast, but he's sure it's fate. Can he convince her? Will she let go and finally be free?
Rhett is the sensitive, brooding drummer and Jarrett is the funny, mouthy guitarist.The secondary characters are almost as loved and Lizzie and Cannon. I loved their banter and their obvious love for one another. They have a bond that can't be broken. I laughed, cried, smiled, laughed, cried some more. I sighed a lot. I hugged my kindle when it was over wanting more. More Cannon! Oh, did I mention that SE Hall loves to add her street team members to her book? Their names or something important to them. I got a shout out in this one. Who wants to go eat at Hildebrand's Hickory House? ME, ME, ME!!

The band consists of Lizzie's two best friends Jarrett and Rhett and her brother Conner. Cannon becomes part of the family and is bewitched by his Siren, Lizzie. He has some baggage which Lizzie has a hard time getting over, and she has ghosts in her past that make her question everything. He's sure of himself and what he wants. He's sexy and talented which is what drew her in. But, he's smooth and sincere and wears his heart on his sleeve. I haven't wanted to be a leading female character as much as I wanted to be Lizzie. I wanted to hear Cannon say those things to me. Sing to me. He's just amazing. Period. She thinks they are moving too fast, but he's sure it's fate. Can he convince her? Will she let go and finally be free?
Rhett is the sensitive, brooding drummer and Jarrett is the funny, mouthy guitarist.The secondary characters are almost as loved and Lizzie and Cannon. I loved their banter and their obvious love for one another. They have a bond that can't be broken. I laughed, cried, smiled, laughed, cried some more. I sighed a lot. I hugged my kindle when it was over wanting more. More Cannon! Oh, did I mention that SE Hall loves to add her street team members to her book? Their names or something important to them. I got a shout out in this one. Who wants to go eat at Hildebrand's Hickory House? ME, ME, ME!!

As always I enjoyed yet another of SE Hall's books. She is never one to let you down with her writing !! I found this book to have just enough. Enough drama, enough heartache, enough hot men, and enough love.
Liz, Lizzie or Elizabeth, depending on who is talking to her has been everyone's rock at times. But who has been hers? No one, until she had a chance meeting with Cannon. Just when one door closes another opens. And Cannon is in the right place at the right time. To bad the right place is at some truck stop where he has just been kicked out of a car with only his bag and guitar!
Lizzie is a strong woman who has always taken care of the 4 men that are in her life. Rhett and Jarrett Foster brothers she has known since she was little. Her uncle Bruce and then her number one, Connor, her big brother. All of them on a bus going around from city to city playing the local dives for the fun of it. Then throw in the curve ball, Cannon!
Cannon doesn't know what he is in for when the feisty girl starts drilling him with question, making him do a piss test and a background check. But what else does he have to do when stranded on the side of the road? So of course he says to hell with it and joins all of them on their journey.

SE Hall, I love you! Each book that she writes gets better and better. There is not one book by her that doesn't hold a place in my heart. She has the ability to bring her characters to life and you feel like your a part of their life. PRETTY INSTINCT is a standalone novel in a new series. There is NO cliffhanger. This story is about love, friendship, and finding yourself. You will FALL IN LOVE WITH these characters.
I immediately loved Liz and was able to connect with her in more ways than one. She is incredibly strong, stubborn, and hilarious. She didn't have the best childhood and we watch her deal with her struggles and grow. So Liz and her two best friends, Rhett and Jarrett.. <3 <3 <3 <3 SWOON!!! And her brother Conner are loaded up on a tour bus with L and C's Uncle Bruce. What I loved most was how loyal and protective they all were with each other. I won't give away any spoilers but you will see exactly what I'm talking about once you start reading, and it will make you fall in love with the characters even more.

After one of the band members.. who I wanted to punch in the face.. gets kicked out, they have to quickly find someone to replace her. And this is when the incredibly sexy, talented, funny, swoon worthy, panty-dropping, guitar playing CANNON BLACKWELL comes in. Goooood lawd, he is perfect. He is right up there next to Sawyer as my top book boyfriend of all time. Every time he talked I was all giddy and giggled like a school girl. And he was so understanding about a *spoiler* that won't be mentioned. He melted my heart and he stole my heart the moment I met him.
"I don't believe in magic or luck or fate. I do believe in destiny, because that's just another word for what is planned anyway."
This was such a beautiful story. I laughed, swooned, cried, sobbed. The epilogue was a perfect ending to Cannon and Liz's story. This is a must read and I CAN NOT wait for Rhett and Jarrett's books!

4.5 stars for SE's new series!
I have to admit that I was afraid to read this new series because I was so invested in her Evolve series and those characters. I wondered if anything else could possibly live up to the high standards the author already set.
I am pleased to report that I really enjoyed this book. Lizzie is a feisty and hilarious female lead and watching her grow through the struggles she has faced was amazing. Her character at the end has come so far from the beginning of this book... and it all boils down to Cannon. Cannon freaking Blackwell. Le Sigh... Yep, SE has given us a whole new crop of book boyfriends who will each be getting their own stories.
Cannon is a sexy musician down on his luck until fate/destiny/whatever you want to call it, leads he and Lizzie together. I won't rehash the blurb or spoil the story because it's too good to ruin but basically, they save each other. Cannon is exactly who Lizzie needs to help her battle her demons and Lizzie is the force Cannon needs to become a better man, the man he's always wanted to be.
There is definitely some angst here, much more so that SE's previous Evolve series but the message of love and friendship ring true and deliver a fine HEA.
SE's writing is solid though I found a few places hard to follow I think due to word choice which is why this didn't get all five stars from me. I also had a bit of a hard time connecting to Cannon since his POV doesn't show up until a little after the 50% mark. It makes sense because really, this was Lizzie's story but I just kind of wish I had known Cannon a little more. Cause the man is HOT. There is a great balance of humor, drama and steamy sex to keep you on your toes.
I highly recommend this series and no worries that the other books aren't out because they are stand alones. You'll fall in love with Conner, Jarret and Rhett as well. Don't hesitate to pick this up, you won't regret it!

I felt this book through and through to the core… I laughed aloud, I sobbed (tears of joy and understanding), and I felt the sexual tension, the jealousy, the heartbreak, falling in love… all of it!

This is my new favorite SE Hall book!! I was hooked after the prologue.
Liz bought a bus and is on the road with her brother (who you will absolutely fall in love with!), her two best friends, Rhett and Jarrett, and one more band member. When said band member gets kicked off of the bus and out of the band, the remaining members wonder what they are going to do to fill the vacancy in the band.
Enter Cannon Blackwell. They find him sitting at a rest stop after his fiancé dumped him on the side of the road with nothing but a bag and a guitar. A guitar! Perfect!! Liz musters up the courage to go talk to him. She can see he is good looking from far away, but she got up to him she discovered that he was hot!!
"Women worldwide would pay top dollar for the chance to watch this guy do anything, algebra even..."
After a thorough interview process (LOL!), they decide to make him a member. Then the adventure begins.
Liz is a mother hen type and Cannon is a gentle and passionate soul. It is so refreshing to read their story and observe things change between the two as their relationship develops. It was also interesting to see how the others reacted to Liz and Cannon's evolving relationship. One of the guys didn't have a easy time dealing with it.
This is one of those purely, beautiful stories that sticks with you for days after you've read it. I immediately read it again after I finished it. I am highly recommending this one!!

I love that I know 100% that I will love any by S. E Hall before I read 1 line. I know it because she has proven it over and over again.
My God I ache in my heart reading this beautiful love story that I couldn't put down. A story and characters for you to fall in love with, feel for and inspire you. LOL funny and genuine and faithful and full of love. You won't regret buying this book!!

I was lucky enough to read this book before the release date, but I had to one-click as soon as it went live! I loved it that much! PLUS, look at that cover! GORGEOUS!
I'm a huge fan of S.E. Hall's- her Evolve series is one of my very faves- so I knew I would love Pretty Instinct too. But I so much more than loved it!
Pretty Instinct had everything I look for in a book: lots of laughs, a little mystery, just enough angst, and a lot of steam! It was a beautiful story that sucked me in from the beginning and I couldn't put it down until the very last page.
Lizzie is one bad-ass chick; a strong, independent 23 year-old woman that is used to taking care of everyone but herself. She's Mama Bear to the men in her life- her big brother Conner and her two best friends, Rhett and Jarrett. They're all in a band together (LOVE the name, btw) and traveling on a tour bus when a fateful pit stop brings a chance encounter with a very sexy, guitar-holding "hitchhiker". And it just so happens the band needs a new guitarist (you know, since Lizzie threw the other one out at said rest stop).
Enter Cannon Blackwell, AKA the new love of my life. Cannon joins the band on the road and works his way into Lizzie's heart, knocking down all of the walls she's put up to protect herself from getting hurt. She hasn't had the easiest life and trust doesn't come fast or easy, but Cannon makes her feel things and see a life she didn't think was possible. I won't give away any more of the story, but believe me when I say it is one you don't want to miss and won't easily forget!
Cannon is just the right balance of naughty and nice-- he knows how to take care of his woman inside and outside the bedroom. Boy does he have a way with words. And ohhhh his dirty talk melted me into a puddle on the floor! Lizzie is probably my new favorite lead female in a book. She's snarky, strong, and honest. She's someone I could see myself being friends with. The secondary characters added so much to the story and I found myself loving them just as much as the lead characters.

Pretty Instinct is the newest book by S.E. Hall and boy, does she hit a high note! It is the story of Liz, her brother Conner and her two best friends Rhett and Jarrett (who also happen to be scrumptious brothers) as they travel together on their tour bus playing different venues along the way. After Liz kicks out a fifth, obnoxious and utterly useless member, they need to find someone to replace this band member. Music does play a large role in the story and is important to both the characters and the setting, but the book centers more around the relationships and the characters’ journeys as they heal their hearts and themselves. I loved Pretty Instinct! Start to finish S.E. Hall took me on an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, cried (several times) and yes was even angry.

This may be my favorite book from SE. I loved everything about this book. The characters and the story were wonderfully written and you can not help falling in love with this book. Though the characters are part of a band, the story is so much more than a bunch of musicians trying to make it big. It's about life, friendship, and love. Liz has so much that is on her plate. But that girl is tough and independent and awesome. With all that she goes through, she is remains strong and is there for those she loves. Cannon is just one swoon worthy guy! Oh my. There was nothing that I didn't love. He's charming, caring, protective, and loving. After Cannon joins the band, the journey that they go through is amazing. I'm not gonna say anymore because you will have to read to find out. There's laughter, happy and sad moments, steaminess, and intensity. I didn't put this story down until I was finished. I couldn't get enough of this story and was sad to see it end. You will love this story and I highly recommend it. It is magnificent! Go pick it up and fall in love with these characters.

Let me start by saying that there aren't any words I can type that will do this book justice. I am partial to all of S.E. Hall's books but this one just takes the cake. This is a beautiful story. You will remember what it is like to fall in love, stay in love, and what is required for healthy love. Sound weird, huh? Let's just say after reading this I was extra kind to my fiancee because love is kind and sometimes we all forget that. Not S.E. Hall and surely not hottie Mchottie Cannon Blackwell. Really, he has just blown the standards for book boyfriends out of the water. If you like Abbi Glines, Jaime McGuire, Colleen Hoover, have a box of tissues, chocolate and are prepared to fall in love again-THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! Enjoy!!!

S.E Hall does it again! OMG I love Cannon Blackwell! This a stand alone book about Lizzie and her friends that are in a band and they run into Cannon. There is an instant connection between Lizzie and Cannon. Lizzie is very much in charge and control of everything and everyone in her life, but when Cannon comes along he teaches her to let go a little bit and trust other people with some of the burdens in her life.
This book is soooo good! You will laugh, cry and swoon! This book is a must read. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Thank you SE Hall for another hot book boyfriend!

Being my first S.E. Hall (I know shocker right – sad but true) I have heard nothing but wonderful things about her previous series but I was glad this was a fresh story because I could start from the beginning and fall in love with each book after it. My first reaction was okay so another band book – not bad I like those, who doesn’t but this one was like on of those mirror mazes where you think yes that’s it, this is that and boom nope not at all. Granted it was about a band but that holds such a small part of what this book is really about.
Pretty Instinct is complex and intriguing and will pull you in with a death grip and not let go until the very end. S.E. gives you just enough to have your mind start to wonder and wondering if what you think or feel is what is about to happen when in fact you will be pleasantly surprised that not everything is at it seems and the many times I found the light bulb in my head clicking on or my blood starting to boil at a new temperature I was suddenly splashed with cold water and the light bulb burnt out because things I thought were so in fact were not as they may have seemed.
Many emotions ran through me during the read first being complete and utter compassion for Elizabeth Carmichael and her strong and independent character. Feisty and snarky. She had it all, talented, smart, funny, and witty with a double side of attitude and I loved her. Her heart bigger than my thigh which sadly enough is not very small she gives and gives to those that are near and dear to her and she holds them to her tighter than a prisoner holds his butt cheeks together during shower time. Being the selfless character that she is, she always puts herself last and sometimes when you least expect it – it’s time to put yourself first and to finally find the one who truly completes your heart and makes you see yourself in a way you never knew existed.
Traveling on a band tour bus with the with the 4 closest people and only people in the world that she will do anything for, Elizabeth’s life is about to change when a lonely stranded on the side of the road Adonis plants his root into her life and changing everything she ever knew. With Uncle Bruce, Jarrett, Rhett and Conner their little 5some will be become a “what’s one more, we need him, 6some) and that right there my friend is where the story truly began for me. Where all the magic happened on and off the stage. Where friendships were tested and bonds were created and secrets and truths were discovered and old wounds were ripped open with a jagged knife.
Cannon “sex on a stick (okay I through that in there) Blackwell finds himself climbing onto a tour bus with 5 other people he doesn’t know from Adam from following his instincts he knows this is exactly where his path is supposed to take him and he dives in head first, no regrets, no looking back only looking towards his future and what being at the right place at the right time could mean. Cannon is sexy, talented, such a dirty dirty talker and all things romantic. He is gifted with the romantic tongue that I myself wouldn’t mind to take a lashing or 2. That boy is all sorts of crazy sexy that will have your panties melt and have you tell your significant other to “shut the hell up Cannon is speaking to me”! The words that would come out of his mouth both dirty and sweet were so poetic I felt like I should really just ditch the panties for the remainder of the book. Cannon is the type of character that you cannot help fall in love with – yes I will admit sometimes he was cheesy (in the most romantic way possible) but he had a temper too and not the kind that scared Lizzie (Elizabeth) the type where she knew that he would spend relentless amount of hours punishing her in the most of pleasurable ways.
Another character I had an insta love with was Conner – who just so happens to be Lizzies big and loveable teddy bear brother you will fall in love with him instantly, he is addicting and captivating and everything that pops out of that mans mouth will make you smile or laugh. His look and carefree look on life is contagious and I myself wish there were more people like him in this world. Connor (Buds) is Elizabeth’s main concern always be the great sister she is making sure he is happy and never wants for anything. Secrets from the past that buddle everyday ready to spew over one look at Conner and all that washes away for the time being because her focus is to make sure he is happy and being the easy going and lovable character that he is all he needs is his family and friends and god love him all his fish.
There were many highs and lows (not in a bad way), good and bad, ugly and beautiful, down right pee my pants, and damn near swam in a bath tub of my own tears while reading this book. S.E. Hall has a way and taking a story that runs through her head and making it come alive for all to enjoy. What she took with this story line was so much more than I was expecting which made my adore it even more. The love story is there true and it sure does blossom and come (multiple times) out however for me the story really lies within Elizabeth herself and her need to health and move on from the past. To finally learn the truth that has been just out of her reach for far too long and to finally after living in a black whole with only glimpses of the bright light outside live a true happy and fulfilling life and finally learn that the past cannot be change and you yourself decide your future.
So many emotions can take a person and break them and make them into someone you don’t recognize and in Pretty Instinct I got the message that all we can do is love them – love them hard and hope that they take that love and receive it and return it however you can’t make someone change your can pray to Gods above and talk until your blue in the face but sometimes you need to find the strength within yourself to know that you love and are loved and need to start living your own life because we only get one – and I truly believe this is what Cannon taught Lizzie in the short time they knew each other.

Hall has a way with words that really if I ever got close to a mini ‘O’ from just reading it would be this book or words that made you feel like you were that character and feeling their pain and the waterfalls started. S.E. it was an amazingly beautiful and captivating read one that if you read between the lines you will find so many messages. It’s not just a romance story but also a life lesson about acceptance, forgiveness and all around having faith and trust in people. People make mistakes and do things they aren’t proud of, nobody is perfect but when you find that one where even through your mistakes and your imperfections they are there right beside you helping you through those imperfections and mistakes maybe that is the one and I in my opinion sometimes you just know something nagging in your head or pulling at your heart and for me that is a good instinct a pretty instinct if you will.
