Probably the most difficult situation any healer may ever experience, is to be unable to help a seriously wounded person. More so when that person is a child. And poisoned on top of everything.
Yet that is what happened with Marlies when joining Catarina, the healer, as learner healer.
And more people died in Thuruk attacks on the village she visited to find a cure for that lethally green scourge.
Fortunately she is also a dragon rider and Liesar, the dragon, could offer some consolation.
As did Amato, an attractive green guard with way too many female admirers.
But that was but the tip of the iceberg considering what the future actually held in store for this attractive young healer.
Dragon Healer is quite a tome lending itself to well developed characters and a sparkling plot by a writer I regard as the top epic fantasy writer in the world, Eileen Mueller.

This was an awesome book, it tells the story of Hans and Marlies, their growth as healers and their own personal growth. Lots of characters from previous book in the series make their appearance .
There is action, humour, great characters and character interactions. And of course, DRAGONS. Everything works together wonderfully.
This is a well written, fast paced, easy reading book.
I love this series and this book is a great addition, I would highly recommend both this and the others.

By the flarking, flaming dragon gods was this GOOD! So good I couldn't put it down once I started reading it! The events catapulted me into this fabulous world which Eileen took to new heights, no, not only her awesome prose, which BTW is superb, her ability to hook one in is unparalleled. The beauty of Ms Mueller's storytelling is not contained in one book, it's her seamless building of the story through each book, it's the sublime characters that grow throughout the series, it's the the attention to detail that is so easy to immerse myself in, it's the horror, it's joy, it's the despair, it's the love, it's the HOPE that permeate through this amazing kaleidoscope of vivid colours. A glorious intricately complex plot that brought out everything in me!

This book focuses primarily on Marlies and Hans, while no one is left out in the shadows. Another adeptness this talented author displays in every book, we get all the characters interacting, all previous characters, so pertinent to this series, make their appearances for a full rounded tale, no holes or gaps, they form a cohesive team to battle the evil that Mazyka unwittingly unleashed in their world. Multiple POVs allow me to follow each of them, to see inside their heads, to read their every thought, spectacular! So much so, that any sympathy I had for Zens has long gone, all I feel for him is revulsion! He is evil reincarnate!

Hans has always been a favourite of mine but oy, poor Hans! Riddled with guilt, avoidance becomes his dearest friend. Thankfully he has a really sage dragon who reminded him, "To be truly courageous, you have to stand and face things head on". This guilt almost udoes him, his guilt at not being able to prevent the onslaught of tsrsks in his village, the deaths he couldn't stop, the confusion emotions for Jenny. It's his caring that has him so disgruntled with himself, his loyalty which has him questioning himself, he's a gorgeous soul. And Marlies is simply magnificent! A healer who's incredibly bright, a healer who feels every pain as though her own, a healer who's determined to find a cure for the certain death inflicted by limplock. There is not an iota of ugly in her, from her appearance, her emotions, her fighting skills, to her dedication, she's in it with all of her. But.... she's also too trusting... which brings me to....,Amato, AMATO! GRRRRR! Smooth talking, fickle, lying, manipulative Amato! Vile! That's what he is, vile! How could he???? Oh gosh, I was waiting for him to err but hells bells, NOT LIKE THIS! Oh lordie, my heart tore in two for her! Golly, I wish I could capture the entirety of what I felt, I wish I could capture the nuances of the plot, the characters, the richness of this world, but I'm dismally unable to. This quote resonates with me, "Some things in life are best learnt the hard way", don't we all know that!

This full cast, Marlies Hans Yanir Amato Tonio Giddi Lars, and more, including their dragons, elevate this story into stardom, infuse it with a richness that I consume. A gorgeous romance catching Marlies and Hans off guard was so realistically beautiful, loved it. The comraderie, sense of purpose, holds true for all the characters, they battle together, preserve together, cry together, laugh together. As did I, throughout. Shards! The battle scenes had my heart in my throat! The pounding in my ears intensely loud, I'm breathless, I'm all wound up, I feel as though I've run a marathon! Eileen took me firmly in her hands, just as I was ready to curl up in a ball snd sob in despair at WHAT was happening, my heart jolted in back to life! Ms Mueller, like a skilful medic, kick-starting it to life again! Within a few minutes, I had recovered from the onslaught of the tension and was bouncing up and down, shouting YES! And though the tension waned and ebbed like the tide, the presentation was superbly crafted, twisted and smoothed out. Yes, that's what this author does to me, she leaves me wrinkled and crinkled and then smooths me out along the way. My brain is reeling from the ending, a desperation taking hold of me to find out WHAT will happen! Oh lordie, THIS BOOK IS GOOD!!!!

My first Eileen Mueller book certainly won’t be my last. I’ve a few other of her books, but nothing that looks like a set. With this story, I was able to read it as a standalone, so I’m pleased to have been able to jump in.

The book is part of a larger story where I’m betting that many of the people I met in this book had much larger stories to tell. It felt like some of these people were old favorites.

This particular story is full of tragedy and the loss of people from a large number of families. With the abduction and drugged acquiescence of so many people into the mining ventures of a man from Earth, apprentice healer Marlies is desperate to find a cure for two drugs that keep the abductees unaware and compliant.

When she is swept into the ranks of Tonio’s spy elite, Marlies wonders where she’ll find the time to complete her research, learn what she needs to know from Tonio, fly patrols with her dragon, and find time with Amato, a young man trying to turn her head.

Love is in the cards for her, but it might not be with whom she thinks. Danger is definitely waiting, along with the chance to use her new skills.

Get ready for a wild ride with Marlies and her dragon into the heart of the enemy stronghold.

WOW Ms Mueller does it yet again...draws you back into the wonderous, amazing world of Dragons Realm and all the characters and dragons you have met and fallen in love with from previous books. Its like coming together for a huge family reunion.
This story focuses mainly on Hans and Marlie, both betrayed by people they thought loved them, but because of that betrayal they come together and try to find a cure for the green poison that is killing dragons, riders and citizens throughout the realm. Marlies is a wonderful healer but frequently doubts herself as riders and citizens die while she is unable to help them. But Hans is her prop, he is there to support her and encourage her.
But there is also fun, laughter and snarky comments from the dragons, especially Handel and Liesar, Hans and Marlies dragons.
The battles are epic and we see our intrepid heroes and heroines and their dragons fighting Commander Zens furry monsters called Thuruks in Death Valley and Great Spangelwood Forest.

Marlies had just woken up all night with Master Caterina tending the dragon rider. Liesar, her silver Dragon told her to stop worrying she tried to fool her Dragon about why she only slept for 3 hours but it didn't work. As she wanted to snick out to practice her archery, they had incoming wounded he had lip lock a deadly poison in his leg and they had to work fast so he wouldn't lose any more blood and hope that the poison had spread passed his injured leg and that by amputating it he would live and it worked. Marlies's was the only one they knew of that could talk the trees that provided piaua juice, which they needed to prevent death. Marlies was in love Amato. She became best friends with Hans and then the than the spymaster sent her and Hans to Nairobi to look to the people stealing Dragon eggs. This is a great book and you need to read it in fact you should read all of Eileen Mueller's books...

Incredible!

Not every story is prefect, but when a plot and characters are gripping and engaging enough, it allows such grammatical errors to be overlooked. Fortunately, this story only has a few and nothing too jarring to take away from the reading. One thing I really loved the most and look forward to reading in stories is when human characters talk to and interact with non-human beings. Obviously, and besides, the dragons, but also trees apparently. One of the main characters has a conversation with a tree that I absolutely loved and felt touched by. That the kind of writing that I want to read and experience. And another reason why this series has become one of my favorites!
