Author of the exciting R.I.S.C. Series, Anna Blakely brings you stories of love, action, and edge of your seat suspense. As an avid reader herself, Anna writes what she loves...strong, Alpha heroes and the intelligent, independent heroines they love.
Anna's dream is to create stories her readers will enjoy, and characters they'll fall in love with as much as she has. She believes in true love and Happily Ever After, which is what she will bring to you.
Anna lives in rural Missouri with her husband and children, as well as several rescued animals. When she's not writing, Anna enjoys reading, watching action and horror movies (the scarier the better), and spending time with her amazing family.
TacOps series brings the best of both worlds. Anna Blakley's awesome writing and characters molded together with characters from Susan Stoker that we also love makes this book amazing! Sexy scenes, wonderful dialogue, great characters and heart pounding action is what you will get with Beckett's Desire!
TacOps combines the joy of Anna Blakely's alpha heroes with the well-loved world of Susan Stoker, in this case her Hawaiian Seals. When school teacher Evie and four of her charges are kidnapped in Afghanistan TacOps are tasked with her rescue, the attraction between Beckett and Evie is instant but both are hesitant terrified of rejection and each shy away from making contact once they are back in the States. When they do finally get in touch they find they are both in the same city and a first date quickly follows that lay to rest any fears that the attraction is one sided. Beckett knows Ellie is the one but forces himself to go slow, Ellie has a lot on her plate and knows she must deal with her father's apparent rejection of her before she can move on with her life, the one she wants with Beckett. There is plenty of suspense, and the plot twists to keep you guessing just as you think you have it clear in your head. When Ellie is snatched again, Beckett is in a heartbreaking race against time to save her, will he be in time so they can have the HEA they so desperately want and deserve? Strong, likeable characters and a great story and thoroughly recommend you read this, can't wait for Slade's story next after the epilogue teaser! I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha; Tactical Operations Series. I have read the first two books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I loved this book from the beginning to the end. This book is fast pace with a ton of suspense and action.
This book was amazing! It's got everything you could want in a romantic suspense story. The way Anna Blakely tells the story makes you feel like you're right in the middle of things. I couldn't put it down once I started reading! TacOps is tasked with rescuing an American school teacher and 3 innocent little girls. Beckett and Evie are attracted to each other from day one. Neither one wants to make the first move to get in touch, for fear of rejection. After their first "date" that notion is firmly put to rest. There were several plot twists I did not see coming... and I loved every second. Anna Blakely really knows how to build up the suspense in a story until you are on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. Beckett is really put to the test when trouble finds Evie again. TacOps calls on the Seal team in Hawaii, part of Susan Stoker's world, for assistance. Will they get to Evie in time for Beckett and Evie to get the HEA they deserve? Get this book and find out. I promise you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
Book three in Anna Blakely’s Tactical Operations series, Beckett’s Desire, follows Beckett “Bones” Stone and Evelynn (Evie) Mitchell on their road to an HEA. While not outright terrible, I struggled—a lot—with this one.
Evie and four of her students are kidnapped by terrorists while she’s teaching in an Afghan village, and Beckett and his team come to the rescue. Two weeks later, they’re still thinking about each other. Digger urges Beckett to call her, but before he can, Evie reaches out first to let him know she’s doing okay. They meet for lunch, acknowledge their mutual attraction, and begin a relationship. But the person—or people—behind Evie’s abduction aren’t finished, and before long, she’s in danger again. It’s up to Beckett and his team to save her and neutralize the threat for good.
I’m not a fan of storylines where the FMC throws herself at the MMC, so I was hesitant going in. The blurb’s claim that “Evie reaches out to him, hoping to explore the undeniable spark between them” was, however, misleading. Yes, she contacted him first, but not in the way the blurb implies. She may have been curious about their connection, but her message was entirely appropriate, especially since Beckett had asked her to let him know how she was doing. I appreciated that she wasn’t the pursuer.
One of my biggest issues with this book was the excessive, blow-by-blow narration of every action. It bogged down the pacing to the point of tedium, and I started skimming around the halfway mark. During missions, every word exchanged between the team spanned pages of dialogue, followed by more pages detailing where they stepped, what they saw, how they neutralized each target. It was exhausting. Worse still, the author devoted two full chapters to a mission that had no bearing on the plot. Yes, Beckett realizes he loves Evie at the end of it, but that revelation could’ve been delivered in a few paragraphs, not a detour that derailed the narrative.
Beckett was a serviceable MMC, but his feelings escalated far too quickly. Within two or three days of reconnecting with Evie, he’s declaring his love to her and anyone within earshot. Like Ethan in his book (though thankfully to a lesser degree), we get another emotional breakdown. I’m all for emotional range in male characters, but this felt performative. Are we not overcorrecting the “men don’t cry” trope just a bit?
Evie, unfortunately, was bland. Sweet as strawberry pie and endlessly goodhearted but lacking dimension. Her conflict with her father—who threatened to cut her off if she went to Afghanistan—made his stance crystal clear. She went anyway, which I respected. But when he later disowned her, jeopardizing not only her safety but that of the children with her, what does she do? She’s so distraught she insists on “facing” him. What part of cut off did she not understand? Given her cold upbringing, she should’ve seen it coming. It felt like this subplot was used to add emotional depth, but in my view, it only made her seem naïve and emotionally ignorant.
Then there’s the moment Evie gets jealous of a middle-aged nurse holding Beckett’s hand. Middle-aged. Cue the eye-roll. And when the villain tries to feed her, she spits in his face. Really? Why provoke someone who has total control over you? Predictably, he slaps her. It’s not that I expect her to be passive, but the scene felt more like a contrived attempt at showing her “strength” than a believable reaction.
While the writing itself was passable, the story teetered between tedious and implausible. The endless, granular descriptions of irrelevant scenes drained the tension, and the lack of complexity in the central relationship didn’t help. A more layered FMC or a touch more heat might’ve offset the inertia. I genuinely wanted to give this author another shot, but once I finish Slade’s Vow, the final book in the series, I’ll be calling it quits.
Beckett aka Bones is a former Marine who works with the Tac-Ops hostage rescue specialist team. His team is tasked with saving Evelynn and the 4 young girls in her care when they were kidnapped by the Taliban. Beckett and Evie have an instant connection. He gives her his number so she can call him if she wants to. When she doesn’t call, Beckett mans up and reaches out to her.
As Evie and Beckett start their relationship journey it becomes obvious there was a more nefarious reason behind her kidnapping than the Taliban and she is not safe. When she is kidnapped again, the team races to rescue her with the help of our old friend Baker, and the men of Mustang’s Hawaii-based SEAL team.
I’m not going to give anymore spoilers. Anna Blakely has crafted a story that will have you cheering for the strong women who don’t necessarily wait for their men to come to their rescue, while feeling the anguish said men go through when their women are taken. Quite fa ew twists and turns in this one and honestly, the prime bad guy wasn’t who I thought it was!
I can’t wait for the next in the series and I 15/10 recommend reading the series and especially this story!
You just can't go wrong with an Anna Blakely romance suspense story that includes players from a Susan Stoker series. Talk about the best of both worlds. Beckett "Bones" Stone and his Tac Ops team are charged with a hostage rescue in Afghanistan. What he didn’t count on was a feisty woman with big dimples, beautiful brown eyes and a never say die attitude. Evie Mitchell wants to do good in this world and if that means bucking tradition and her father's edicts so be it. Except it goes horribly wrong and she finds out just important she truly is to her family. Fate puts them both in Charlotte at the same and their connection becomes stronger and deeper. But there's more to her nightmare and she is once again in danger. Beckett has to work to keep his head in the game because this time his woman is in danger and the source is a shocker.
Just an FYI, Ms Blakely drops a bomb in the epilogue about the next book in the series that will stun you. The wait will be interminable untl it releases next year.
Far fewer grammatical errors than previous books, but still insultingly implausible story elements. And another cream puff FMC. Note to author: most readers don’t like the “sweet, gentle, precious, kind, helpless, naive, TSTL” heroines anymore. Give her some actual bite and not just cringeworthy attributes that made her more like Maria Rainier than a viable heroine.
Naive, spoiled daughter of a billionaire goes to Afghanistan unprotected and is SHOCKED she’s abducted. And if children were described one more time as “sweet, precious, innocent”…I was gonna barf.
The virtue signaling creates the only “redeemable” traits of this FMC. We’re supposed to just fall in love with her because she’s JUST SO altruistic and loves those kiddos. But otherwise, she hasn’t got a brain cell to spare.
And, let’s never forget…the MMC fell for ONLY her looks first and foremost.
Beckett/Bones and Evie. A picture captured his attention, but Evie captured his heart. Bones is a character and his humor and loyalty is clear throughout this series. It shines bright again in his story for how he doesn’t question what he feels or how quick he feels it for Evie. As he finds out her background and the betrayals she faced he quickly steps up to support her and then to find and rescue her when she is betrayed another way. The family dynamic for her is horrible. The team is strong and so are their women. I loved how we see the foreshadowing for the next book with Shadow missing and I was surprised it wasn’t Tex, but Baker that was called…not mad about it though because who doesn’t love Baker! The ending was poignant and I loved the focus on their family. The scene for the next book was a jaw dropping with the tea regarding Owens and Shadow and has me excited for the next book that apparently will pair Slade/Digger with Shadow.
The 3rd instalment of the TAC OPS GROUP did not disappoint… Evie and Beckett were a couple made to be together. Strong, committed, courageous and vulnerable. Their meeting was one of fear, brutality and at the same time strength and resilience. Reading this book and seeing this band of brothers and sisters together fighting for each other’s safety is everything. The friendships and relationships woven is enthralling and keeps you wanting more…Digger has me wanting to give him The biggest hug and I really can’t wait for his journey! You think you have it sorted in your head but you really don’t…,And the epilogue well there are no words to express what you learn..( my lips are sealed)🤐 We also get to see our friends from team Hawaii and it’s like seeing old friends! A wonderful read! Thanks Anna♥️
Oh my goodness what an outstanding book! Beckett is a member of Tac-Ops and sent to Afghanistan to rescue an American woman and 4 students. Evie is in Afghanistan on a sabbatical from her teaching position as she wanted to teach and experience life in Afghanistan. Beckett rescues Evie and their instant connection is felt by them both. Fast forward to three weeks later Beckett is realizing he needs to find Evie and at the same time she is reaching out to him after talking to her friend. They re-connect over lunch and as their relationship progresses so does the danger and intrigue that surrounds them. Will Beckett be able to save Evie once evil finds her again. You don’t want to miss this book. 5+ stars. Can’t wait for the next book. Anna Blakely is a one click author for me. Her books do not disappoint.
Anna brings us into the 3rd member of TacOps. Beckett's story and what a wild ride it is. Beckett and Eveie may have met under stressful circumstances. But the bond that is formed is strong and true. Throughout the book, their relationship grows stronger. So when Eveie finds herself in danger again, she knows Beckett will do anything to save her. Anna brings in some friends from Sunsan Stoker's SEAL Team Hawaii to help with a mission. And a special friend comes in to help with the tech side of things. So when Beckett needs help resucing Eveie, of course they're there to help. Together, they will rescue Eveie at all cost. Once again, Anna Blakely brings you a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. With danger, passion, a handsome hero, and a woman who will do what's necessary to ensure her future. A future worth fighting for.
Beckett and Evie's story was a perfect addition to the Tactical Operations Series! Not only did it have tons of suspenseful action and all the feels, but wow, was the romance was off the charts! When the TacOps team is tasked with rescuing an American schoolteacher and three young girls, Beckett and Evie feel an instant connection. After these two hit it off right away, you might almost think that their HEA is easily around the corner, but trouble seems to follow Evie like a hound with a scent. It will take all of Beckett's will and resources, including help from the Seal team in Hawaii (a team created in a sister world to this one by another author), to save the woman he loves. All in all, the heart stopping action and heated romance throughout this read kept the pages turning and was truly another hit in this author's ever expanding world!
This was the ultimate Protector book. Beckett and Evie were so loving and went through so much to be together.
Abducted and held for Ransom, Evie and four young girls are rescued by a TacOps team of which Beckett Stone is a member.
Beckett is the caring possessive and protective alpha that would do anything to keep her safe. Evie though had it tough and had to learn a few truths along the way. It's their love and respect for each other and that connection that builds the romance.
So well written, this author builds an amazing story About getting through adversity. Danger, drama, deceit and Betrayal wrapped in a beautiful romance.
Evie is one strong woman, not only taking care of the girls and keeping them upbeat but she's a fighter when needed. Facing impossible odds and then being faced with more. Beckett is head over heals from the minute he meets her, he will do everything and anything to keep her safe. Dangerous, suspenseful, exciting and plenty of action. Then you also get romance, friendship and family. This group is bonded by their experiences and their work, they might not be blood but they choose to be family. Guest appearances by characters from another author are an enjoyable bonus. The teaser at the end definitely has me wanting the next book asap.
This series just keeps getting and better! The amount of military detail in each of these books is mind blowing.
Beckett and Evie meet when his team is sent to rescue her and her students from the hands of the enemy. Right away, we see their beautiful connection. Once she returns home and the danger still persists, he will stop at nothing to protect her.
I loved this story so much. It was fast paced and you can definitely tell the author has done her homework with how military teams operate. Beckett and Evie are my favorite of this series so far but something tells me the next story will be just as good!
Beckett and Evie's story was thrilling and captivating. I was instantly pulled into their world, anxious to discover what deadly secrets awaited to be revealed next, as the hits just kept coming it seemed. Evie was tough, resilient, and brave...the perfect match for Beckett. And Beckett... bless that man, he was stealing my heart along with hers. That burn the world down for his woman vibe was fire in this story. An amazing journey to their HEA with some help from some of Susan Stoker's guys. Digger is next, and I'm soo ready for that story because that set up was epic!
I chose this rating because this was actually a pretty good book. I enjoyed a lot of the characters. This was a book of protection, compassion, kindness, awareness, involvement, believing in yourself and your worth. I enjoyed Beckett and Evelynn story. I think the author did a great job putting these characters together. Evie so called dad was a piece of work. You'll find out once you read this book. It will all come to light. This was a really interesting book. I recommended this book to all mystery and romance readers.
This was a story that caught my attention from the start. Evie is strong and brave, even if she doesn't know it. I really enjoyed her character. Beckett and the rest of his team are a great group. These are all people I would love to have in my circle. This story is part of Susan Stoker's Operation Alpha World, so we get to see some of her characters as well. I am looking forward to Digger's story.
This just goes to show that growing up with money doesn’t mean you grow up with everything you’ve ever wanted. Evie just wanted to be loved, but her father’s refusal to show her any and the secret behind it was one her mother took to her grave. Beckett watched his other teammates partnering up around him and felt a little jealousy, hoping for someone of his own. Now that they found each other, will a madman with his eyes set on Evie’s money keep these two from their happily ever after
Wow! What a story. Intense from the first page, then it smooths out, but then the chemistry kicks in and it's an awesome ride. The story flowed seamlessly. Love the Stoker characters and that is what is awesome about the author world, they share and connect with each other and put extreme smiles on all reader's faces. I got lost in this story and I loved it totally. What a great escape.
I enjoyed reading this third book of the Tac-Ops series. Beckett Stone with his team is in Afghanistan to rescue Evelynn Mitchell along with her four girl students. He then realizes he wants someone more in his life like his other two teammates. Evie finds Beckett really attractive and later texts him because he gave her is private number. They each find themselves in Charlotte so they get together and sparks fly. This has steamy romance and great suspense.
This is a great series and I encourage all to start at the beginning. I love Evie’s spirit. She was beautiful inside and out. She also had to find a spine of steel to get through everything that happened to her. The great part of her misfortune is meeting Beckett. He immediately fell for Evie. Lists of angst, suspense, twist, turns, and, of course, romance. Cannot wait for the finale!
I loved Beckett and Evie’s story. It was sexy and suspenseful. I could not put it down. They meet when Beckett’s team rescues Evie and her students when they are taken hostage. A relationship forms and their nice story is fast and sweet. Evie’s problems aren’t over though. Beckett and his team rescue Evie again and save the day. Anna Blakely keeps you turning pages. I can’t wait for y try text story!
Schoolteacher Evelyn ‘Evie’ Mitchell was the epitome of hellcat when Beckett ‘Bones’ Stone and his team arrived to rescue her and four young female students. She’d just survived a brutal beating brought on by the denial of her existence by her father. But all that paled in comparison to the attraction Beckett and Evie had for each other. Unfortunately, weeks later, Evie is kidnapped again, making it clear the first abduction was targeted, not random. Rating: 4stars
This book starts with a bang and just keeps going. Beckett is pulled in by Evie’s picture when his team goes to rescue her and 4 girls from Afghanistan. They start a relationship after they’re back in the US.
Beckett is incredibly loving and protective and even though they fell in love quickly, it works. Evie really got betrayed by so many people in her life. But now she has Beckett, his team and their women to start a new family with.
Just the fact Beckett is in the head space that he begins to envy his friends finding their person, makes his insta love a little suspicious. Also, one abduction is never enough in this series. Maybe it was just me but I immediately knew who was behind Evie’s kidnapping. That said, there’s witty banter, stealthy saves, and snarky military men (once a Marine always a Marine)
You never know who’s your enemy until all shit hits the fan which truly happens to Evelyn. Her story is absolutely incredible and she is one tough cookie. And Beckett is one hot protector who definitely has a heart of gold. And if you think nothing can beat their story wait until you read the Preview of the next book and you’ll know it gets better and better!
In this third installment of Tac Ops, Anna Blakey did not disappoint. Even and Beckett are drawn to each other from the moment they met. The twists and turns continue throughout the book - what Anna does best. I love the bond the Tac Ops team has with each other and their women, and it shows in this book. I can’t wait for Digger’s book next!
I enjoyed the book until I got to the end. There was a hated cliffhanger. A cliffhanger is bad enough, but this author sometimes has almost 2 years between books. I had already decided who the characters would be in the next book, so I did not need this. It could have been a prologue in the next book, not anything in this one.
