One Pucking Destiny

Rate this book
From USA Today best-selling author Ellie Wade comes a sizzling forbidden love, secret relationship hockey romance.

Sebastian Calloway, the star center of the NHL team The Cranes, is known for his skill on the ice and striking good looks. Women find it hard to resist his boy-next-door charm.

Ariana Cortez is singularly focused on making all her career aspirations and dreams come true. She has no time for love or relationships, regardless of how charismatic or handsome he may be.

After a one-night stand, Ariana leaves Sebastian without so much as a goodbye. He finds himself unable to think of very little besides her and is desperate to find her again. As destiny would have it, the pair have a lot more in common than one night and are reunited. Sebastian does everything in his power to prove that they’re meant to be together, while Ariana is adamant they are not.

Undeniable chemistry and Sebastian’s persistence have the pair stuck in a secret relationship. In the classic tale of right person, wrong time, one can only take so much rejection before he’s forced to give up on the girl of his dreams.

Will the two be able to overcome that which is keeping them apart? Or will their love get lost in the uncertainty?

Overall, I really enjoyed Bash and Ari’s story! It was set up so well in the other books, so there was a great amount of hype leading up to it! I’m giving this book a 3.75 star rating as I found it to be a little creepy and disheartening to see Bash completely ignore what Ari was telling him that she didn’t want anything serious and no feelings. And he was like “ehh. She’s mine. She’ll see that we love each other. No big deal.” Which came out in a very strange and kind of annoying way. However, they did recover from this beautifully and then raced through the rest of their mile stones together! I really love this couple and how well they play off each other and the fun that they have together! Can’t wait for the next!

My Review:
3.8 ⭐️ 2.8 🌶️

Bash Calloway is the golden-retriever hockey star who’s met his match in Ari Cortez, the fiercely independent black cat focused on her dreams.

After a sizzling one-night stand, Ari ghosts, but Bash can’t shake her from his mind—or heart. Fate keeps throwing them together, leading to secret rendezvous, steamy sparks, and a cookie contest as sweet as their chemistry.

Can Bash win her heart, or will Ari keep this romance on ice? A playful hat trick of heat, humor, and hockey—this love story is an absolute score!

Sebastian Calloway is about as good as they come on the Cranes, Michigan’s NHL Hockey Team. He’s their star center. And he’s on his way to this in the hole in the wall indie book store that is supposed to have just one copy of a book his twinie wanted on hand. So now he is rushing over to hopefully pick it up, so he can give it to his twinie, Hattie. He could have planned, but this was a last-minute trip, and as is the custom when he visits his sister, he came bearing gifts. My sister’s love language is receiving gifts and mine is acts of service.

Hattie is not actually his twin because there is a two-month age difference. However, their parents were told they would not be able to have their own natural child, so they were going with a surrogate just when their mom found out they were pregnant with Bash too. He failed to get the book because a book bandit stole it from under his hand. Then she played on his sympathy by telling him it was her birthday. He told going off that book she now had to help him find ten like books. He then skillfully paid for her book and slipped a gift card for her Birthday.

Then he met his sister for dinner then they went to a club. And they ran right into their triplet. Why did Hattie call her that because the twins had, a butterfly tattoo each? Now when Hattie went over to their triplet she had no way of knowing it would be Ariana ‘Ari’ Cortez. If you have read the last book you would already know sticky wicket this all is. Ari’s friends had coupled up on the dance floor and were going home with them. Hattie's ex had shown up at the chagrin of Bash. “Yeah, she went home with her ex. Whatever, I get it. I’m just not a fan.”

“Not a good guy?” “No, he’s fine. He’s just not fine for her.” He nods. “Gotcha. The overprotective brother.” Damn, even that is a turn-on. He grins. “I don’t know about all that. I wouldn’t say I’m overprotective. I just want only good things for the people I love.” It’s hard for her to keep her guard up with this guy. She doesn’t know what it is about him, but he can tell that if I were to let him in, he’d stay. While he seems like an incredible person, she was not looking for serious right now. She has to finish vet school before she can even think about a relationship.

Now if you haven’t guessed already, there is a bigger problem rising on the horizon, yup. Ariana is the daughter of the new team's Dr. Elena Cortez who just recently married Beckett Feldmore the star forward of the NHL team the Cranes. And the good doctor is surprising the whole Crane organization with an all-inclusive relaxing bye-week. And she does mean everybody. So, Ariana would be attending.

And somehow Bash and Ari have never met at any of the many different events or after one of the games at the players' bar. Beautiful is an appropriate way to describe him and not just his exterior. He radiates goodness. She’s always had a way of seeing into people, of knowing if their soul is good or evil. Bash is good. So good. He may be a catch, but the timing is all wrong, and there’s really nothing she can do about that. “Look, I’m sure you’re a great guy. He’s just not looking for anything right now.”

He grips her waist, changing the cadence of their dance into something slower. “Truthfully, I’m not either. I don’t live here. I’m twenty-four and travel a lot. He’s not trying to put a ring on it.” His mouth tilts up at the corners, and his breathtaking smile accentuates his dimple. “Okay, good. Then we’re on the same page.” “Definitely on the same page.” “Let’s get out of here.” “Are you sure?” “Absolutely. Let me just tell my friends I’m heading out.” “Works for me. It’s only two blocks away.” “Bash! You’re shaking my brain!”

She laughs. “It’s your own damn fault.” “Wow. That was…” she searched for the right words. “Amazing,” Bash completes my thought perfectly. “Yeah.” He extends his hand, and she threads her fingers through his. “Come on, we should venture more than three feet into the house.” “I’ve been dreaming about this since the bookstore.” Happy birthday to her. Welcome to Texas. Except Bash and Ari find out that they have not been able to stop thinking about one another since earlier that day. As he tries to woo her she fights it out of fear due to fear of losing her goals. However, it was also in allowing love in.

Oh, my! I loved this story ♥️
Each story in this series keeps getting better and better.
Being able to see a side of each of the Crane Hockey players in each book as the series goes along, certainly endears me to them for when their love story happens.
This is Sebastian’s story and is a happily ever after, he falls first, secret relationship, steamy story starring another one of the Crane Hockey players road to finding his forever woman.
Sebastian is loved by everyone, he is not only a smoking hot hockey player but a really nice person too.
Meeting and hooking up with a woman he had met earlier in the day affects him more than he thought possible.
After her disappearance he tries valiantly to find her again with the little information he has of her.
With no luck.
Ariana is not looking for a relationship as her career is all that she is interested in at the moment.
Nothing can get in the way of her goals.
Spending the best night ever with a gorgeous man still does not sway her.
However the universe has other ideas as these two people keep being thrown together at the most unexpected times.
Whether she believes it or not she is starting to have feelings for this man who is slowly getting under her skin.
Will Sebastian be able to convince Ariana to let him in and adjust the gruelling pathway she has set for herself?
Will she ever allow him to adore and love her like he wants to before he decides enough is enough?
Will Ariana let this amazing man go?
Amazing storyline and such loveable characters.
The narrators Savannah Thomas and Christian Leatherman were once again perfect for their roles of Sebastian and Ariana which made for pleasurable, easy listening.
Both the ebook and audiobook are excellent.
Really looking forward to the next book in the series.

First of all, Bash is just the absolute perfect book boyfriend. I have been anticipating his book, and boy did it deliver.

Bash and Ari have one of the most adorable meet cute moments on her 22nd birthday and end up having a second encounter that same night. What happens is a steamy one night stand. Ari is too busy with school for anything else. Bash, however, can't get Ari off his mind. A few months later, Ari appears on Cranes bye week vacation.

Both Ari and Bash have to keep their secret rendezvous on the down low because Ari's mom is married to a player. After trying to stear clear of each other alcohol takes over, and these two combust. Throw in some friendly competition where cookies are involved and you have a match made in heaven.

After months of skirting around each other, Bash gives Ari his heart and asks for hers in return. She is the black cat to his golden retriever, and I am here for it. He is willing to lay it all on the line for love, and we can only hope Ari feels the same.

These two are my favorite of the series so far, and I can't wait for what happens next!

I have such mixed feelings about One Pucking Destiny. I enjoyed myself a lot while reading it but I have so many feelings about Bash and Ari, both on their own and together. Bash was sweet in the golden retriever way of MMCs, but he was also pushy. Obviously, it's a romance so we know they're going to end up together, but he flat out refused to take Ari at her word when she said she had no interest in a relationship. But then we have Ari, who was a complete workaholic that had no problems giving mixed signals to Bash the entire time they spent together.

I did like them both and I did root for them. I liked all the small details that proved Bash's idea that it was all destiny. All of it was really well done from the relationship building to the plot pacing. The story took place over 9 months, and while it didn't necessarily feel that long because of the significant time jumps, I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything.

I love this series. I just didn't necessarily care for how Bash and Ari were portrayed totally. I don't love them any less though.

Things I liked: hockey team found family vibes; fun vacation shenanigans for a good chunk; Bash losing a bet (and what resulted); Ari’s focus on her degree and her strong work ethic.

Things I didn’t like: Bash ignoring everything Ari told him because he didn’t believe she was acknowledging her feelings for him. He ended up being right, but it was really obnoxious. He love bombed her and kind of bulldozed her, then got frustrated when her feelings didn’t change. And after 9 months of showing her how he felt, he gave a big long speech explaining why she didn’t know her own emotions, and suddenly she changed her mind and tells her mom the next day that she’s going to marry him. It was too quick and too sharp of a turn to make sense.

Audiobook: I was entertained by book four in this series. I liked Sebastian Calloway's relationship with his family, and his determined search for Ariana. I admired Ariana's commitment to getting her degree. I enjoyed their crazy, mixed-up feelings as they each followed their own paths as they decided what was best for their lives. There were some steamy scenes included. I was entertained by Savannah Thomas' and Christian Leatherman's performances as they narrated the story. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Wow...holy smokes. Sebastian Calloway you are one of a kind. Literally the sweetest, kindest, sexiest man....ever. The love Bash has for Ari is out of this world. The patience this man has is second to none. I'm not going to lie I was not a big fan or Ari AT ALL. She was such a cold cold fish. But slowly I thawed to her but only because of how much Bash loves her. He is just that perfect.
This was a really really sweet hockey romance. It was a quick read, one sitting for me, I couldn't stop. I needed to read this book, it filled me with something I think I needed.

I loved this story, and I loved how it tied the whole series into it.. i think I am obsessed. With Bash the most of the group and series, I just loved his character. I also loved the storyline, and I am going to miss this series, hence why I waited forever to read the last book 😢. It has a perfect touch of 🌶, not too spicy, but the way the story and the series flow together is just beautiful... the ending was just pure joy.. I loved the symbolism woven through. Oh and one last part.. I caught what book they were fighting over in the bookstore 😂😂 i mean it is a good one 😉

I am absolutely in love with this series! The Crane Hockey boys have my heart and Bash might just be at the top of the list! I adored his relationship with his "twin" sister and his supporting her reading habit. I also loved how much Ariana read in the story! And the bookstore - what a perfect place for a meet cute. I also really like how we get to see all the other Crane boys and how they are doing in their relationships. Please don't make me wait too long for more! (5 stars)

I listened to this audiobook. I am just starting my audiobook journey and I absolutely enjoyed this book. I loved the plot, characters and narration. There is definitely something that makes a book better when you listen to it being performed. I think I need to go back through and listen to all of these books again on audio.

I did not like the heroine. The hockey team had a baking competition. She said if she won he had to get a tattoo of a chocolate chip cookie. Uf he won, they had to repeat their one night stand. He has been trying to find her for months. He loses. She makes him get a tattoo of the cookie near his groun. I just felt bad for him. She was mean.

Bash is definitely my favorite MMC in this series!! Who doesn’t love a golden retriever!! He was so patient with Ari even when she was being very annoying and couldn’t see what was right in front of her lol. The other books set this one up perfectly, you could feel the connection! Overall really enjoyed it.

Bash and Ari's love story is true destiny if I've ever read it! Bash is a full on cinnamon roll kinda romance and the most patient man ever. A quick read. A fairly predictable read. A perfect read for a night by the fire drinking hot cocoa or a day on the beach watching the waves.

This is a very sweet read if you are just needing something happy and feel good to cuddle up under a blanket and smile to. A good palate cleanser if you will. Bash is the most kind and patient man ever. The whole Crane Hockey series is my favorite, full of men you can’t help but fall in love with.

I do love a golden retriever guy. I didn’t live that they called him a golden retriever- and then later called him a cinnamon roll. I didn’t totally love the fourth wall breaking so much.

On top of that, it was build, build, rolling full speed… there wasn’t a peak and it was just ready to be done.

~Okay so like Bash is my favorite hockey player!!! Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed this series, but this one is my top one!!! I loved this story so much. The way Ari and Bash met was cute, he is totally a gentleman. He sure rocked her world in the bed though!!! Even though it was a one-night stand... Only for them to run into each other again... Keeping secrets from others for they don't find out they had a history. But they both knew that they were meant to be!!! This book had my heart jumping with all sorts of excitement. The spice was good too!!! So, I repeat Bash and Ari are my favorite people from this series!!!

Review: I loved this book. This is a one-night stand, secret relationship romance with he falls first, cinnamon roll hero. I loved Arianna and Sebastian’s meet cute. I was hooked from the first page. Arianna is focused on finishing Vet school and getting her degrees. Sebasitan is the star center for the Crane hockey team. After a one-night stand Arianna leaves Sebastian without even a goodbye. Sebastian can not stop thinking about that night. As fate would have it they are reunited and Sebastian does everything in his power to convince her that they are meant to be together. I loved the banter. I loved the storyline. I love Arianna and Elena’s mother daughter relationship.
