“She should have known. The signs were there, right under her nose, plain as day. Only now she’s meant to look the other way. Bury the pain and the shame as if nothing ever happened.
But what has rooted instead is the fine line between hate and forgiveness,
torturing her soul with questions forever left unanswered.

And that’s the most treacherous tightrope of all…”

Keeping a secret is easy. Getting away with it is the hard part.

Daniel Richardson devoted his entire life to building on and protecting his grandfather's legacy, nurturing his family's prominent reputation as master builders in the safe coastal town of Weyport.

Because in the depths of his soul, Daniel guards a secret he's managed to keep hidden for eighteen years.

With his family name suddenly threatened, he struggles to conceal what he knows, doing everything that he can to keep his secret hidden. But when a seemingly random accident lands him in the hospital, it appears he'll be taking his secret to the grave.

Meanwhile the revelation of critical DNA evidence throws the investigation into disarray, linking it to a disturbing cold case that has Sheriff Angus Reid looking into many suspects in the unexplained murder, including Daniel.

As Reid investigates further, he unravels a tangled web of deception and intrigue concealed underneath the town's peaceful appearance. Every twist discloses more terrifying facts, and the closer he gets to the truth, the more perilous it becomes.

One by one, layers of twisted lies and long-kept secrets bubble to the surface.

But will Reid be able to track down the murderer before it's too late?

Daniel's Oil is a suspenseful, faith-filled murder mystery that will keep you guessing until the end.

Alex's second case in his new posting and after Jacobs Well comes Daniels Oil.

This is excellent a great 2nd case and plenty of twists and faith mixed into it as well. Daniel and his former partner Bill feel out completely and Daniel did not trust him so when a new development is proposed by Bill the gloves are off. Things aren't great for Daniel him and Patty his wife are not doing well together and they get worse after the town planning meeting

Alex will have his work cut out when a body is discovered and Daniel well he gets himself in a mess I think it fair to say without giving anything away. And when his life is endangered Patty has ask the worries if the world to contend with and an old face from the past emerges and things just get harder. Just like life.

The storyline is fantastic characters great twists excellent what's not to love and I did every page and I think you may just do so as well. I can't recommend this enough I thought the first book was great this one even better. They are both great reads and if you have to chose 1 then get both it's the only way to go.

This book starts out slow. The middle seems like Kim Kincaid is Jane doe but Kim had a identical sister named Vanessa Digby. Kim was killed and people saw her that they saw a ghost. The ending of the book was even more twisted when Vanessa,Patty and Angus survived and was peaceful.

Urcelia's book is very outstanding and I'm looking to book three of Angus Reid series. This book is a 5+ stars rating.

Great suspense with twists and turns. Book 2 ended for me like Book 1 - too quick of a wrap up after such a well-planned plot.

Daniel’s Oil, like Jacob's Well, this book starts with a sad beginning. A reality of Daniel Richardson and his wife, Patty, having a rough marriage at a late age in life. In his younger years, Daniel was an ambitious, hard-working man who had a family legacy to protect. Bad decisions made in early marriage can cost you later in life. Daniel made a mistake early in his marriage to Patty. As a believer, Patty is doing her best to forgive and forget, but old wounds are resurfacing, and she doesn’t know how to deal with the resentment she feels towards her husband. She tries to treat him well, but his harsh words and grouchy attitude make it hard. It doesn't help that Patty is a believer and Daniel is not. Living in an unequally yoked marriage is never ideal. But getting saved while already married, Patty does the best she can. Daniel's secrets are weighing heavily on him, making him a bitter, grouchy old man. Bill Baxter and Daniel worked together earlier in Daniel's career as a builder, which did not end well. Now they are enemies. Bill wants to buy a piece of land and develop it, but Daniel has secrets buried on the land. He tries to find the hidden item by digging on his land, but at sixty-eight years old, it's not easy for him. (I won’t reveal what was buried, you’ll have to read the book to find out.) Things become much more complicated when a dead body is found that had been buried for sixteen years in a barrel under the concrete of a house that was now being renovated. Angus Reid is on the cold case, with the help of the ME Murphy, they are piecing together the clues they are finding from the female body found, and the people they are talking to who would have known the dead woman. Angus is finding that the people of Weyport have a lot of secrets; it's not easy getting people to talk. After Daniel didn't come home one night, Patty went out to find him. She finds him with a small branch on his side. She manages to get him to the hospital, but he is in bad shape. I found it hard to stomach how she stood by him while he treated her so terribly. The dead woman found in the barrel, named Kim Kincaid, was the woman Daniel was having an affair with before she disappeared sixteen years ago. Everyone thought she had left to make it big in New York, but Daniel knew something had happened to her. Patty knew all along that Daniel was having an affair, but she was helpless to do anything about it. She remained faithful even when her husband didn't deserve it. I won’t spoil who murdered Kim Kincaid. You’ll have to read the book to find out! I was surprised, but not surprised when I found out who did it. In the end, it was found out that Daniel had a son named Danny with Kim, who was adopted by Kim's twin sister, Vanessa. All this time, Daniel was still in the hospital, unlikely to survive due to a disease called sickle cell. Danny, now nearly a young adult, ends up saving his dad's life by giving him a bone marrow transplant. Sadly, this is where the story ends. Though Urcelia Teixeira did an amazing job writing this book, the unravelling of Daniella and Patty’s lives was painful but enjoyable to read. I was disappointed by the ending. I would have liked to see Daniel and Patty make things right in their marriage. I would have liked to see Daniel believe in the God Patty believes in and become a believer; unfortunately, that doesn't happen. I guess that is a reality for a lot of people in the real world; we don't always get the complete happy ending.

Daniel’s Oil is book 2 of Urcelia Teixeira’s book series about Angus Reid, the sheriff in a small coastal town in New England. (I suggest you read Urcelia’s prequel, Lost Boy Found, which lays the foundation for Angus and the town he is now protecting.) Even though Daniel’s Oil is book 2 in a series, you can enjoy this book without reading Book 1, Jacob’s Well, as they are stand alone books.

I could not put the book down. I wanted to see “who done it” and how. Urcelia has outdone herself with keeping the reader on the edge of her seat.

Daniel and his wife, Patty, have been married for many years but something happened decades earlier that shut the switch off and Patty could never figure out why her husband became distant and cold. The reader continues to wonder why until the end of the book! Quite the unfolding…..

A body is found in a metal drum. A woman. Dead for 16 years. Who is this woman? How did she die? Who killed her? Oh, I had SO many questions and had to keep reading in order to get answers. And, I did. What a great story!

I continue to appreciate the cleanness of Urcelia’s books. No swearing. No sex. No graphic violence. God is always part of every book. This book wonderfully addresses forgiveness – something we all need to be reminded of. Urcelia writes a novel everyone can enjoy – from teen to grandparent.

I recommend you smear your reading pleasure with Daniel’s Oil. It’s a captivating book that will take you for a good ride of twists and turns!

Ms. Teixeira has done it again! This is another amazing story in the Angus Reid series! The characters in this book are so real, especially Patty Richardson. Oh my goodness, if I was in her shoes, I think I would have reacted just like her! Emotions that are so all over the place, one minute you forgive, and the next, you almost want to kill them for what they are putting you through. Angus is again a great sheriff who has a mind that is able to see things that others would miss. But even Angus is a little confused with how this mystery can possibly be solved! As he searches, so many things pop up it keeps you reading, trying to figure things out for yourself. I really enjoyed meeting more of the people from the small town and getting a look into their lives. I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book to come home with me!
I received a free download of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.

[Details about some content] This book was great! It gave us a chance to learn more about Angus Reid and his crew, with a fresh new case for them to solve. Just like Jacob's Well, this had you guessing until the end, thinking you knew the answer until a NEW CLUE came out, then you're left sitting there like "What?!" This ended like I would've never expected. Also, this book made me tear up, laugh, shut the book in shock, kick my feet and talk to myself. I would've looked crazy if anyone saw me. Anyway, here are some details about the content.

-One or two non-descriptive, non-explicit mentions of rape in a character's past
-Mentions of characters swearing (the words aren't actually written, though).
-Mentions of blood, of course.
-Descriptions of a corpse, not too gruesome, a little gross, though.
-Mentions of infidelity (cheating), but vague and non-descriptive.
-Mention of miscarriage (not detailed, vague)

Loved this book, can't wait to read the rest of the series!

My thoughts about this book and what engaged me as a reader:

• I liked getting to further know Angus Reid. He was an honorable man of faith. He had lots of patience and perseverance. He was a good lawman.

• There was action, twists in the plot, and suspense which kept my interest glued to the plot.

• This book is part of a series and I'm looking forward to seeing how Sheriff Angus handles more crime cases.

Patty's personality bothered me and distracted me from the story. She was so conflicted all the time. Her emotions kept flip-flopping.

I was given an advance copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Christian suspense.

Daniel's Oil - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Sheriff Austin Reid's second case centres round the lives and actions, past and present, of two married couples Daniel and Patty and Bill and Belinda. The two women have stayed friends, despite their husbands' former friendship and property development business partnership having fallen apart some years previously.
When a plan involving new builds on Daniel's family land in Weyport is proposed, he has a physical altercation with his enemy.
What happens next puts lives on the line, but to find out why and how it all ends, you'll have to get yourself a copy of Daniel's Oil by the remarkable Urcelia Teixeira as soon as you can!

Ultimately this is an amazing story about faith, love, marriage, family and secrets. Patty and Daniel are in a long term marriage. Patty is a selfless wife with a strong, abiding and sustaining faith in God and she deeply loves her husband who she is somehow able to see the good in - honestly, I wanted to shake her at times and say ‘why do you put up with him?’. Daniel, a churlish man, is an agnostic with a tortured soul. He is burdened with a secret which weighs heavily upon him and that secret is at the center of this intriguing mystery. I found myself wrongly guessing who did what as yes, it is a twisty mystery!!

I am enjoying reading Angus Reid Mysteries series. The characters are welling written and there are surprises in the ending. One of the few books that I did not figure out the guilty person by half was trough the story. I liked how Patty found how to forgive Daniel and look forward to a new relationship with him and his son. “Forgiveness comes easy when you realize you love someone. It’s a choice, not an option”. I look forward to Caleb’s Cross and will start it tomorrow. I will recommend this book to young adult and older that come into our church library.

Daniel Richardson has devoted his entire life to protecting his grandfather's legacy. He's had one misstep in his life. Dating a sexy, beautiful young woman that works for him and his partners company. Then a body is found in the foundation of a house after a big storm. The body is identified by DNA as the young sales lady. An old cold case. What ensues is a masterly written, fast paced read full of suspense, intrigue and deceit. Enjoyed immensely!!! My highest recommendation!!

Angus Reid returns for another crime solving mystery.

In the little town of Weyport, this book centres around Patty and Daniel Richardson and the secrets that have been hidden for 18 years.

Lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing until the end.

An easy read, which held me captive until the end, trying to guess who the murderer is....

Can't wait for Angus's next mystery

Weyport is a small town where secrets are unheard of, except there are a few - and they are really big ones! Daniel, a longtime businessman in the town, is dead set against the new planned expansion. His former partner, Bill, wants this to happen even if it creates major problems. Who will win or will blood be shed over this?

Daniel and Patty have a relationship that died many years earlier. Can she forgive him for bad choices and thus bring healing and a second chance at showing him what grace and mercy are all about? Sheriff Angus Reid has several mysteries to solve before it’s too late.

This second book in the Angus Reid Mysteries was received through Promise Bound Press. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
