She’s a Shadowguard operative with a thousand faces. He’s a Tier 1 SEAL with scars no one sees. When the mission explodes, so does the chemistry.
When special operator Archer “Hazard” Booth and his fiancée are abducted, the mission that should’ve been over turns deadly all over again. Someone’s pulling strings deep in the shadows—and this team won’t rest until they get their people back alive.
Skull, the team’s brooding dog handler, and Hummingbird, a chaotic, lethal undercover operative with sass sharp enough to cut steel take point. She’s unpredictable, brilliant, and utterly infuriating—but Skull can’t stop watching her. Can’t stop wanting her.
She’s everything he doesn’t trust—and everything he can’t resist.
Hummingbird plays dirty, loves harder, and never stays in one place too long. But Skull is a whole different kind of temptation—dark, intense, and impossible to shake. He thinks she’s cold-blooded. She thinks he’s delicious. And if they don’t stop sparring long enough to focus, the mission could fail.
The team’s racing against time. The cartel won't be calling the shots for long. And somewhere between desire and danger, two warriors will have to decide if love is worth the risk—or just another battlefield casualty.
Fast-paced, explosive, and addictively steamy—Skull is book six in the SEAL Team Tier 1 series. For fans of alpha heroes, fierce heroines, and high-octane romantic suspense.
Zoe Dawson, the author of 40+ books had always dreamed of becoming a full-time romance writer. Her other passions include traveling the world, owning a beach house (she believes she was a mermaid in another life), and seeing her books in movies. When she’s not writing, she’s painting or killing virtual MMORPG monsters in World of Warcraft. She lives in North Carolina with her two grown children and one small, furry gray cat.
I absolutely loved this book. Right when the Iceman and his elite team of Seals thought that they had dismantled the Alzate Cartel, one of their own was kidnapped along with the love of his life. Skull along with this team and two highly skilled shadowguards will not stop until they have found their missing brother and deliver some well deserved justice to everyone who had anything to do with their kidnapping. Skull has been intrigued with Hummingbird, Walker Adams, since he met her. He wants to pursue her but love and concern for his missing team member plus the fact that his dad is in the hospital fighting for his life convinces Skull he has no business searching for happiness when his priorities should be on searching for whoever has taken his team brother and getting to his dad as soon as he can. Hummingbird also feels the strong attraction to Skull and being the alpha female that she is, she will do what she has to do to get Skull. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. My favorite part of this book was when the Seal Team and the 2 Shadowguards go hunting for a HVT, Baltasar "Blade" Vega, who they believe has information on who is holding their teammate hostage and threatening to kill him and his true love. The way that Zoe tells this story, the minute by minute details, the emotions, and the heart stopping action made me feel like I was right there with the Seal Team every step of the way. I do wish that I could have had more information on what Hazard and Leigh were going thru while they were being held captive. I found myself wondering what was happening to them while the team searched for them. You will also be teased about the next book in this series, I can't wait for Boomer and Taylor's story. I definitely recommend this book. You simply can't go wrong reading any of Zoe Dawson's books!!
I am odd person out here, but this book was difficult to finish. I did not like the book. I should have skimmed a lot, but I just kept going at it.
I did not think there was really any chemistry between Hummingbird and Skull. It seemed to be more about lust than anything else.
GQ called Hummingbird, b*tch, to her face. I would have expected a fist to the face from Skull, but it did not happen. Calling a woman on their side, b*tch, is not something the men in Dawson's books do, the bad guys maybe, but not the good guys. I think GQ was a little over the top all the way through the book. Frankly, I did not like him by the time I finished the book.
There were many editing mistakes along the way. At one point, Skull was thinking of Hummingbird as Walker. Several pages later, he asked Hummingbird what her name was. He did not know until then that her name was Walker. So, the original reference was a mistake. At one point, Eva was referred to as 'he.' I stopped reading to try to find the male that was in the setting, but there was none. At one point, it was stated that Jose and Astrid trailed behind in their car on the way to the hospital. Yet, a page or two later it was stated that Jose and Astrid stayed behind under guard.
I found the book to be too emotional, at least on Skull's part.
I read this book to be able to finish the cliffhanger from 'Hazard.' It seemed to take the entirety of the book before that was resolved. I found the 3 previous books in the SEALs' series to be boring. I did not like this book. That means 4 straight books that were not that good. I really liked all of the other books in the SEALs' series, but recent ones have not been as good. I am through with the rest of the SEALs' books by the author.
This installment of the SEAL Team Tier 1 Series checked ALL the boxes for a thrilling, sexy, deeply moving story. It highlights the sacrifice and selflessness of our SEAL Teams and CIA Shadowguards and the bravery exhibited when taking on missions. Finding and rescuing Hazard and his fiancé Leigh after an abduction is the primary focus of this book. But along the way Skull and Hummingbird slowly forge a relationship that allows each to open up and through self discovery reveal their true self to each other. Two beautiful individuals that deserve to find happiness and fulfillment. The active mission scenarios were so well written and engaging. A high octane read!! Ms. Dawson dangles an enticing carrot for readers to desire the next installment, sadly not yet available at the time of this review. Waiting patiently. I recommend this book and the entire series. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cooper “Skull” Sullivan is a Tier 1 Navy Seal. Walker “ Hummingbird “ is a CIA Shadow guard.
They meet on a mission and the attraction and chemistry are there. The relationship develops and the emotions are high, a lot of sass and banter. Can the complete their mission to retrieve their friends ( Leigh and Hazard)?
Can Skull convince Hummingbird to give their relationship a chance? Can they a Happily Ever After?
I really liked and enjoyed this book! You never disappoint !
This book has suspense, danger, intrigue, twists, turns, high emotions and great characters.
This is the fourth in the Tier 1 series, and brings Skull and Hummingbird together in this drama, which tests their resilience on many levels. Skull’s team comes together to rescue their brother and his fiancé after being kidnapped. Hummingbird is also an operative, of sorts. She is a CIA maverick with a side of toughness, and a “take no prisoners” approach. The author showed her customary talents in combining drama, intrigue, twists, turns and steamy romance to create a great story. Her details and descriptions allows the reader to feel like they were actually in the scene. Great job. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.
Skull and Hummingbird's story takes you on an emotional ride filled with danger and edge of your seat suspense. The anxiety of Hazard and Leigh's abduction and the emotions it brings to the team will hit you in the feels. Plus Bones! He's a star character all by himself. If you know animals at all, you know they very much have their own personalities, and I loved getting to see some of Bones' personality come out in Skull's story.
Another fantastic, gripping book in this series from this brilliant author. Skull, a Navy SEAL, and Hummingbird, a CIA Shadowguard are involved in a mission to rescue two of their friends, one of whom is a fellow SEAL team member -their growing relationship runs alongside the rescue and ensures an intense, emotional story which is difficult to put down. This is definitely a must read book, and I cannot wait for the next in the series .
Skull opens with high emotions. Alot of self realisation along with life lessons hit our team of alpha seals. We see the venerabilities come out as they battle enemies & their emotions. I love the relationship that develops between Skull & Walker, sass, banter & strength. This is a thrilling, filled with action & fast paced read!
What an intense story. Skull (Cooper) and Hummingbird (Walker) are a great couple. Helping each other find out where they need to be to move into a valid relationship. The Chemistry was intense and the attraction was immediate but there were lots of things to work through, including a daring rescue and some intense and suspenseful sequences that kept the page turning.
So I wasn’t sure how Hummingbird and Skull were going to work and for me they just didn’t. I never felt that they were right for each other. I’m sure it’s just me. I did enjoy the plot and it was an exciting book with lots of twists and turns.
