Your son has been kidnapped. You don’t know how they got to him, but they did. Then the demand comes. They want a million dollars to release him. It’s not easy to put your hands on cash like that, but you do it because you have to. So you pay up. But here’s the thing. They don’t give him back. You do everything else you can think of to get him back to you after that, but nothing works. Then you find out why nothing works. His body turns up finally, in a burned-out car at the airport. Somebody’s gonna pay for this. They kidnapped our people before, but this time they’re not going to get away with it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and look forward to more from this author. Chapters are written from the perspective of one of the characters, which makes for a very immersive style. Would make a terrific neo-noir film! Highly recommend!
I felt the ending seemed to be contrived. Characters seemed to go from good to bad, to good, then bad again, and then just seemed to die or disappear. Interesting, but made little sense in the end.
