I thought I knew what I wanted. I didn't think it would be five drop-dead gorgeous men. I also didn't think we'd be shipwrecked on an island together. They've made it their mission to keep me safe, protected. I never thought it was possible to be cared for like this-adored. But I don't think what happened to the ship was an accident. And I don't know if we'll get off this island alive.

Adrift

Blue Lagoon (Brooke Shields + Christopher Atkins) yum! meets Gilligan’s Island meets Below Deck.
Fun Fact: two of these titles I have never seen an episode of but they’re my only references. I digress…

A wholesome and fun start of a series about Haley and her 5 hot men.

Haley is sweet and fun, with her own scars from a previous relationship. She is reluctant to have another romance with a fellow crew member. Yet she can't deny the attraction she feels to each of these men.

The men each have their own personalities and backgrounds, some even clash a bit which brings a realistic progression to the story and the relationships. Each of them are drawn to Haley, even before they got shipwrecked.

I mainly enjoyed the banter between characters and seeing relationships form. There is a hint of suspense too that keeps it interesting.

Thank you to both the Author and Happily Booked PR for an eARC of this book!

A steamy island romance with a twist of mystery, Adrift offers escapism and intrigue. While the premise is fun and the tension builds nicely, some parts felt underdeveloped and the writing a bit uneven. The characters have potential, but their development sometimes feels rushed. The plot moves quickly, which keeps things entertaining, but leaves little room for deeper emotional payoff. Still, it’s an easy, enjoyable read for fans of reverse harem tropes and tropical drama.

Adrift is the perfect blend of survival suspense and steamy reverse harem romance. The story kicks off with a literal crash—our heroine wakes up shipwrecked on a remote island with five mysterious and ridiculously attractive men. As they fight to survive together, the tension builds—both romantic and otherwise.

What really pulled me in was the dynamic between the characters. Ellie Pond does a fantastic job making each man distinct and emotionally engaging. The slow-burn relationships feel natural, and there’s a real sense of “found family” among the chaos. But just when you start getting cozy with the characters, the plot twists hit—hard. There’s more to this shipwreck than meets the eye.

It’s sexy, suspenseful, and surprisingly emotional. If you’re into character-driven stories with a strong dash of danger and spice, this one’s for you. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book in the Wrecked series as soon as it drops.

Content warnings: Stranded survival situations, reverse harem elements, mature scenes.

Perfect for fans of:
• Reverse harem romance
• Survival stories
• Strong female leads
• Protective love interests
• Suspenseful slow burns

Haley, the female lead, is chief stewardess for a luxury ship. It’s not her first time in this position but she’s just been through a serious relationship breakup and she’s determined not to have relationships with fellow crew again. She doesn’t expect the immediate attraction she feels for Captain Sam, one male lead.

Nor for Zane, the bosun, Dante, the chef, Calvin, the chief engineer, or Easton, the son of the owner, the other male leads. And maybe she’d have kept to her resolution to not engage with males on her boat, except now the boat has been disabled in a storm and she ends up in a life raft with the last four men, and then on a deserted island…

This story is sextuple POV, well written and edited, and a relationship focused, contemporary reverse harem romance serial beginning, which ends with a content for now but definitely not finished feel. I chuckled at Haley’s surprise at the multiple men she was interested in. I enjoyed the interactions, both physically intimate and not, between Haley and the men. I enjoyed Sam’s clear presentation. I enjoyed the personality differences between Zane, Dante, Calvin, and Easton, and the negotiations required because of them. I enjoyed that they all worked together to make their island living a success. I am looking forward to the rest of the story!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

I got accepted to be part of the ARC team for this book and was super excited to start reading.

This was my first book from Ellie Pond, and it was enjoyable. I have some pointers -which is unusual-, but also some positives I´d like to mention.

First things first, I have to clear up the fact, that I genuinely thought this is going to be a yacht romance. In my defense, EVERYTHING about the cover supported my expectations. And, it was a yacht romance. Until it wasn´t anymore, which is the bigger part of the book, so a part of me feels like the cover was a little bit misleading.

Second of all, five guys? Dang. I am all for why choose, but five guys seem a little bit over the top, even for me. I know that this book is part of a trilogy, and I am really hoping we´ll get to know the characters more in depth in the other two. Because as of right now, I feel like the guys don´t have much of a personality -let alone proper backstory- besides being hot for Haley, and she doesn´t have much of a personality besides being a peace-maker and the one with the magical *kitten* all of the guys want. Quite literally, there is almost nothing to know about any of them. And because of that, it was a bit difficult to connect with any of them. There was just enough to keep me going, though, so I hope they all will be gifted a personality and backstory in the following book.

Third of all, there were quite a few inconsistencies, as well. Nothing major, but they always made me stop reading and think about the given situation, double check the things, because it just didn´t add up. And it happened more than I´d have liked.

The nicknames/pet names drove me crazy, because there was no actual connection between them and any part of their reality or personalities... Haley being called Little Bird, Little Kitten, etc. absolutely annoyed me, and I love nicknames. The only one that was consistent and actually made sense was Dante calling her Sassy.

I need to mention that I found the healing times pretty strange. Okay, Dante was unconsious for a day or so, he had a concussion, so he was kept on low effort duties. Clear as day, checks out. Haley twisted/pulled her ankle, it was swollen, so she was treated like a princess for about a week and a half -despite her protests-. Again, fair. But when Zane get´s stabbed in the freaking foot with a goodamn machete and there´s a GAPING HOLE -as described- on his foot, the next day he not only walks around, gathers wood and carries things, but also goes swimming? Again, the next day. This made me unnecessarily frustrated.

Everything just seemed to happen to the characters. There was no proper insight into their feelings about things -not just their situation, but everything-, so it genuinely felt like they are just "going with the flow"... I´m not sure how this could have been better, but I wanted it to be.

Last, but not least, the spicy scenes. For having 5 guys with 1 girl, I expected there to be more of them. And howmany there were, seemed to be a bit rushed. Again, it felt like the movements and actions were described and a few "good girl"s or "oh my god"s got thrown in there, but not much more, and that made them be kind of... meh... I would have loved to get some insight into Haley and each guy´s preferences, kinks and whatnot, but they were just going through the motions and that was it. I didn´t feel anything whilst reading them, unfortunately. And it´s sad, because the concept had the potential to be good.

Okay, so now that I have these out of the way.
It was enjoyable to read. I genuinely liked the plot twists, all the characters and also getting a look into the whole yachting/boat world. This was a new genre for me and I liked it quite a bit. The whole survival scene with all it´s details was super interesting and a great insight.

I liked it enough that I will be reading the rest of the books for sure, but I really hope there will be some more depth and less inconsistencies in the next one.

My favorite game was to play "Are you good?" "Im good." I swear, every chapter has this or some variation of this, and I was that Leo DiCaprio meme, pointing when I saw it. "There! They said the thing!!"

No one else matters except Dante and maybe Sam. On to book 2!

I was kind of over how Haley was a very capable lady, she was very take charge on the ship and she was respected a great amount for her competence...but then on the island everyone is carrying her around and she's threatening to flash people to end disagreements. Why is she such a smol lil smol now? Like, she saved lives and took no guff on a yacht and then now she's hurt and getting piggy back rides everywhere. You really did not need to injure her to get her into the scenarios she gets into. Hopefully she can assert herself more in the next book.

Im assuming her depo shot runs out in 3-4 months. Lets hope that doesn't mean what I think it means....

This book follows Haley (Chief Stewardess), Sam (the captain), Zane (the bosun), Calvin (head engineer), Dante (the chef), and Easton (the owner’s son) as they head out on a luxury yacht for a few weeks. Their journey is interrupted, and they have to abandon the yacht. Haley ends up on a raft with Zane, Calvin, Easton, and Dante. They make it to an island where they have to learn to work together in more ways than just survival, while hoping to be rescued.
I liked that Haley was very real. She knew how to get stuff done but also had her real-life insecurities. All the guys have unique personalities and with the multi-POV, I enjoyed getting to know each one. I loved the sense of found family that grew over time while they’re on the island. They all had to work together through fights and injuries to survive.
This was an easy, enjoyable read, and I’m definitely curious as to what happens in book 2.

This was interesting and I’m definitely curious as to what happens in book 2.
This takes place on a cruise ship and it’s chaotic from beginning to end. But the connect and chemistry between all the characters is just phenomenal! I love the banter and dynamic Haley has with all the guys it adds so much to the story!
There’s so much more to all of them than meets the eye!

Ok where to start. This was a stay-up-late, read-in-line-at-the-grocery-store kind of book. My first by this author but I’m glad I decided to give it a try. I haven’t had a one more chapter kind of book in awhile and this was it. I know I read the blurb but didn’t remember much of it, I was so engrossed in the story, that I didn’t see any of the twists coming. I love the FMC, she’s not whiny or overly chipper. She’s got a can do attitude but also has real like insecurities. I also like how her team of guys comes together. Sometime with a why choose, the guys are just like ok we’ll share and that’s it. This time there is like ‘real life’ qualms that people would probably have when multiple people are trying to date one person. Huge cliffhanger though at the end. Than goodness the next book is out soon!

Adrift by Ellie Pond

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️.5

What to expect

Workplace romance
Mega yacht
Multiple POVs
Reverse harem
Opposites attract
Mystery
Shipwrecked

This is the first book I’ve read by Ellie Pond and it won’t be my last. I love her writing style and the way each character had their own voice. This is a very different kind of reverse harem read for me. None of the characters seem to have shared before and they aren’t all friends. The dynamic is very different and I really enjoyed the way the storyline came together.

This is only book one so the story is nowhere near wrapped up. I think book two will up the tension that was building in the first book. I missed Sam on the island so am looking forward to read more from him in book two.

I am so intrigued by the island and its possible secrets. The chemistry between the characters was delicious and the build up between them all was perfect.

I highly recommend reading this book.

Adrift by Ellie Pond is the book I didn't know I needed. Found family, spicy scenes, suspense, and forced island living with several hot men? Sign me up! This book follows Haley, Sam, Zane, Calvin, Dante, and Easton as they head out on a luxury yacht for a few weeks. That plan is derailed and results in a marooning that forces our main characters to survive the elements and their own sexual tension.

This book kept me on my toes and I cannot wait for the second book to be released next month! Ellie Pond truly created a masterpiece of a story that you usually don't find in the reverse harem genre. It is a stand out story In that regard. If you are looking for a new author to love - Ellie Pond may just be the answer.

Thank you to Ellie Pond and the lovely ladies over at Happily Booked PR for the eARC of this book. I received a free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is the perfect escapism in a why choose RH.

I really enjoyed being "adrift" with this crew. I liked the build-up to the characters getting together, getting to know the characters a bit before they end up on a secluded island together.

It's written from the pov of Haley and the guys, and I always like getting perspectives of the characters to show a fuller picture of what's going on.

I was able to read this quickly and visualise everything really well due to the writing and flow of the story.

loved the ending and can't wait to pick up book 2!

First of all, thank you so very much to both Ellie Pond and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read the eARC!

This was my first Ellie Pond book and I was pleasantly surprised!

I went in completely blind and found myself giddy with delight the whole way through. There was enough spice, and suspense keeping me drawn in, entertained and wanting more. I am thrilled to learn that this isn’t the last of these characters and there is more coming!

I could not put this book down! Highly Recommend!

This book kinda surprised me in a good way. I thought the shipwreck was going to happen way earlier then it did, but this way you get to know all the characters first which was good. The reverse harem part was really good too, although I’m kinda sad Sam wasn’t stranded with them. I would have liked if they were saved at the end of the book, but that way the series couldn’t have continued. The only thing I really wanna know right now is what happened to the other boat, did they get rescued?

DNF but not for a bad book reason—a personal reason.

So I was highly interested in this book and it does entertain! (With what I've read.) However, I am a huge Below Deck fan, and the Captain gives me major Captain Lee vibes. I can't get that thought out of my head, so I am DNFing. Captain Lee gives me the ick, and I kept trying to picture Captain Jason, wink wink, but I just couldn't. Lol

Overall, I highly believe this novel would be pretty good if I could get past that detail.

This is a fast paced, addictive book, I devoured it in less than 24hrs. I always love a RH and this didn’t disappoint, the characters are engaging, the MMC alpha males and intense, our FMC is witty and likeable.

The plot is building throughout this, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!

Oh….and the spice is spicy 🌶️🥵

Pleasant read. I enjoyed the concept and had fun reading it. There’s not a ton of depth, but we saw character development and an evolving cast-away plot. There were some inconsistencies with naming, spelling, and character descriptions. This isn’t a case of “oh my god get this to an editor,” but our FMC being blonde on the cover, described as blonde once, and then described as light brown/brunette for the majority of the book bothered me most.

I just finished Adrift by Ellie Pond, and I wish there was more!

From the very first page, I was completely swept away. This book doesn’t just hook you—it lures you into its sun-soaked world and keeps you there, unwilling to let go. I read it in one sitting because I had to know what would happen next.

The story follows Haley, who starts off as a stewardess aboard a luxurious private yacht. What seems at first like a dream job quickly becomes a journey of self-discovery, deepening relationships, and unexpected danger.

Each crew member brings something different to the table: Zane, the mysterious and broody bosun; Dante, the charming chef with a teasing smile; Calvin, the steady and grounded chief engineer; and Easton, the complicated and magnetic son of the yacht’s owner. There’s also the ship’s captain- Sam. Watching Haley’s interactions shift and develop with each of them was one of the most enjoyable parts of the story.

The romance is steamy in all the right ways—but what really caught me off guard was the layered mystery element. It added tension and depth. It’s both spicy and suspenseful, with a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat!

Ellie Pond creates a vivid, tropical atmosphere that made me feel like I was on that yacht, in the ocean, smelling the ocean air and feeling the sand on my skin. It’s pure escapism, the kind of book that feels like a mini-vacation for your heart.

Adrift is the perfect mix of sun, steam, and suspense. If you’re in the mood for a deliciously dramatic why choose romance with a dash of mystery and a whole lot of heart, you need to pick this one up. I can’t wait for book two!

This really was different than a lot of the why choose books that I read. I thought it was such a fun concept to have a why choose based on people stranded on a deserted island. But this wasn’t just a fun frolic while shipwrecked. I appreciated the actual struggle to survive and the plot twists that kept things from getting too comfy. The suspense and danger that the characters endured gave this story a depth that I found very entertaining and kept me engaged in the story. I thought that there was such a good chemistry between these characters and I felt that the author did a great job of creating characters that seemed so real. I always enjoy when a why choose gives us multiple POVs so we get the opportunity to see what everyone involved is thinking and feeling. These characters were definitely unique from each other, the true sign of a good why choose romance.
The best part of a good why choose is when the FMC is strong and pretty BA. That’s what we get with this story. Haley was such a strong-willed woman and was dedicated to be the best that she could. She was a stewardess on a cruise ship and ends up fighting to survive being shipwrecked and survive being shipwrecked with a handful of men that she finds super attractive. From the captain, to the bosun, to the chief engineer, to the chef, and finally the owner’s son. They couldn’t be more different, but all of these characters grow together and learn to work as a unit.

This was the first time I read a book by this author but I thought this one was enjoyable and definitely well written. As with most why choose stories, the spice was definitely there in this book, but the author makes us struggle through a bit of a slow burn before we get to the point that we want to be at. I thought this was a really enjoyable story to read and I really can’t wait to see what book 2 has in store. This is a series that I have become invested in and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I’d never read anything by Ellie Pond before, but this book sounded interesting so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did. The book really wasn’t what I was expecting, to be honest. Haley, the female lead, is a young woman working in the world of private yachts and the mega rich. She’s a chief stew and has hired on to the Rock Candy, a newly built yacht that is set to sail in a matter of days. The first half of the book details the struggles the stews and crew have to put together a yacht that is still literally in shrink wrap. You also get introduced to all the characters, including the swoon worthy Captain Sam, a mercurial chef, a sexy bosun, an Olympian swimmer, and an engineer with a soft spot (and a teddy bear). Instead of diving straight into the romance, the author gives the reader the chance to get to know all the characters and I found that really refreshing. When the alarm finally sounds to abandon ship you care what happens to them. Haley and four of the men are separated from the rest and find themselves stranded on a deserted island. And despite the physical relationships that happen the author also delves into the personality clashes, the practicalities and the very real concerns of being stuck with a group of people in the middle of nowhere. The notion of one woman having a relationship with four men is impractical at best, but the author even manages to make that believable. This is the first book in a two book series, and the second promises to bring the sexy captain back into the mix. (As well as his adorable dog Penny.) I am anxiously awaiting the continuation of this story. I can’t wait to read what happens next with Haley, Sam, Dante, Zane, Easton and Calvin. And I’m definitely adding Ellie Pond to my list of “don’t miss” authors.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
